Хват менее удобен чем у никон д90 и д600 но как по мне так удобней чем у д3300 и сони а57 это из того что в руки брал но прорезинен привыкнул быстро вполне нормально , из легких неприятностей : чуть визгливей отвертка работает чем у никонов фокусировка быстрыми фиксированными стопами у никонов как то вроде ездит а тут как бы короткие рывочки , оказалось порог минимальной выдержки при которой начинает расти исо выставить нельзя но есть другая фишка можно просто задавать коридор исо от которого снимать и до которого , из плюсов это конечно стаб на тушке , пентапризма со 100% кадра ,режим приоритета "диафрагмы и выдержки " удобно с приоритета диафрагмы одним щелчком перейти в такой режим причем одно колесо прокрутки под одним пальцем отвечает за диафрагму а другое за выдержку а исо будет авто исо нижний и верхний порог которого вы установили , по меню,эргономике всё в порядке , дисплей качественный , удобный и оперативный доступ к онлайн настройкам кнопкой "info", дальше это типа юстировки обьективов прямо в тушке с памятью настроек на 20 обьективов , уже использовал и помогло реально ,мануальник прицепляете вводите фокусное и тут же стреляете и подгоняете , хорошие фильтры типа монохром , арт и т.д, сами цвета петаксовские может чуть уступают фуджам,там просто сказка был х100 но повкусней чем никон и пентакс как если по мне , никаких переходников под гелиосы, вся мануальная оптика у пентакса своя на байонет причем не уступает серии limited а цена в раз в 5 ниже только нужно с аббривиатурой А , не будет автофокуса но будет передача инфы ,экспозиция и регулировка диафрагмы с тушки только в режим А установить кольцо диафрагмы и работает подтверждение фокуса зв.сигналом и загорающейся точкой всё можно подрегулировать точней в тушке попадание фокуса ближе дальше на 10 стопов ,для точного фокуса есть увеличители видоискателя и возможность смены фокусировочного экрана под другой с клиньями , вообщем интересный фотик и интересно его осваивать несмотря на всю простоту

- + Про достоинства говорили другие , присоединяюсь к ним.
- - При експлуатации более года отказал механизм управления диафрагмой. Сейчас на ремонте. Похоже это единственный минус этого фотоаппарата. Пент аксу нужно тсчательней поработать над этой проблемой.
На Украине есть только одна гарантии ная мастерская.Что очень усложняет ремонт .

- + Pentax K-50 в своём классе конкурентов не имеет, ближайший конкурент Soni. Камера в руке лежит удобно даже для большой ладони. Работа с мануальной оптикой впечатляет, передача полутонов мягче и красивее чем с современными объективами. Встроенный стабилизатор в камере своей работой поражает, при съёмке просто залипает и останавливает кадр, с стабилизаторами в объективах Canon и Nikon не сравнить. При ISO 3200 и 6400 приличное качество снимка. Меню когда приловчишься понятное и доступное по функционалу. Сохранение последнего кадра в формате RAW после его снимка в формате JPEG, производители Canon и Nikon этой функции еще не поняли. Качество монитора выше Canon и Nikon, углы обзора и яркость экрана в солнечный день удовлетворительные. Привод "отвёртка" при фокусировке работает надёжно без сбоев. Приобретением не разочарован.
- - Цена камеры и недостаточное количество на неё аксессуаров в Украине.
При заявлении производителя, что камера имеет водо-пылезащищёный корпус это свойство не проверял, но снимал при температуре -15 С на протяжении 3-х часов не пряча камеру под одежду, результат как в майский день. И если предстоит мероприятие в морозный день на длительное время, то Canon и Nikon вам не помощники. Pentax K-50 разработан инженерами для фотографов, которые не хотят рассчитывать на ширпотреб и старые разработки Canon и Nikon улучшаемые маркетинговыми уловками по увеличению пикселей, свойств устарелых матриц и т.д.

В связке с 18-135 WR получается великолепный всепогодный тревел-комплект
- + Аппарат обещает быть бомбовым - делался на бвзе К-30 и тут убраны все выявленные недостатки предыдущей модели.
- - Отсутствует вспомогательный экран. Ну и традиционная для Pentax проблема со стеклами - родные дороги, а сторонних производителей с байонетом К не сыщешь - ну не везут их... (Tamron я за стекло не считаю)
Цена ЯВНО завышенная - надо с пол-годика повременить, чтобы устоялась.

This is an amazing camera, both for the price and as a first dslr, easily matching up to more expensive nikon and canon competitors. I bought the package with both the 18-55mm lens and the 55-200 which I highly recommend, as it is much cheaper than buying the lens separately later, use the short one for landscapes as it captures a surprisingly wide angle and the long one for portraits and far away objects, as kit lenses go these are very high quality.
Pictures come out really well, colours are rich and pictures are clear and sharp, works great as a point and shoot but I recommend switching to manual mode and playing with different white balances, you can really make pictures 'pop' with a few tweaks to the settings. Auto mode is ok, it captures the scene and you can tell the picture was shot on a high quality camera and if thats all you want it for this does the job too. Auto focus isn't the fastest but not slow either, it is noisy but it doesn't bother me, i quite like it when my camera makes mechanical sounds, it makes it seem solid somehow, you can always flip to manual focus and twist the focus ring on the lens yourself if you want silent focussing.
Don't be put off by the low megapixel count compared to others on the market (16 here vs 20+ in canon and nikon). Megapixels arn't everything (my phone camera has more megapixels than this dslr, this still blows it out of the water in image quality) and this is unlikely to be the limiting factor in your photos, the size and quality of the sensor is more important here. Small camera shakes and slightly imperfect focus will mean in 99% of photos taken by the average user the difference in megapixels will be meaningless. Even with a tripod and a remote you won't notice it if you arn't blowing up the pictures to an enormous format.
The main reason i opted for this camera over its competitors is the number of nice little features it has that makes it a great entry level dslr, namely lens options, in camera shake reduction and battery mount. If, like me photography is a hobby for you and you are on a budget this camera particularly stands out for a number of reasons. Firstly and probably most importantly is the lens options.
If you want to take a great photo the right lens is important, a low-end dslr with the right lens will take a better photo than a full frame, £1000+ monster with the wrong lens, pentax havent changed their mounting system since the 70's which means all the old lenses, even the ones from old slr cameras like the k1000 will fit this camera and work, and the best part is they can be bought off ebay for like 10 or 15 quid. No they don't interface with the autofocus so you have to focus them manually, and they don't produce the same image quality as their super expensive counterparts, but this camera lets you buy a range of lenses on the cheap so you can have options when you're shooting and you can explore different techniques and have a lot of fun without breaking the bank, it also passively teaches you a lot about photography if you are looking at a scene and thinking what lens would work best rather than using the same one over and over.
On top of that pentax have put a shake reduction (normally a feature of premium lenses) feature on the sensor, meaning that all these old lenses will benefit from it. As i previously said shake will probably be more of a limiting factor in image quality than lack of megapixels, so this helps tonnes with image quality. The shake reduction also apparently works with the optional gps module to move the sensor and track stars, allowing for long exposure astrophotography shots using the pentax astrotracer function. I haven't tried this since i haven't splashed out on the gps module yet, so I can't really comment on it but it looks fun.
Finally, if you buy a battery adapter (approx £5) you can power the k-50 off AA batteries, handy if you run out of charge, particularly on holiday or camping or something as AA batteries can be found in most places, its a small thing but better than alot of other cameras where you would have to buy the special battery (£50+) or battery grip.
All in all its a great camera and you really can't beat it for the price

I've had this camera for 5 months now and i LOVE IT.
I did serious research before buying this camera and I'm glad I did. Before this I was considering a Nikon or Sony but the lenses and features just did not make sense for the price. I bough this camera with the kit lens 18-55mm and boy am I glad I did.
Before buying a DSLR do your reasearch because you will not only be buying a camera, you will be buying their system. Using Pentax Lenses (or pentax Compatible lenses) and bodies. If at one point you want to upgrade your camera body, and youve acquired a few lenses, you have to either stick with Pentax or buy ALL NEW LENSES AND CAMERA. With that said...
PROS:
*Weather seal- There are no other cameras nowhere near this price range that offer weather sealing. This is great if you shoot under non studio conditions.
*Weather sealed lenses- Pentax offers quite a few lenses also weather sealed. Which make this camera very versatile.
Included lens: the Kit 18-55 is actually really good! compared to other kit lenses for other systems (canon, nikon)for similarly priced cameras and lenses.
*eyefi card- My camera came with an eyeFi card which its basically an SD card with a wifi transmitter, which allows you to upload all your photos to your phone,tablet, laptop, without have to pay for integrated wifi in the camera which drains the battery faster.
*Dual dials- there are 2 dials that are very useful when shotting in M , A or S Allow you to control the camera without having to take your eye off the viewfinder.
*Remote Control- You can connect a wireless remote control, or wired without any adapters.
*Ergonomics - I have big hands, and this camera feels very comfortable and easy to shoot with.
*Stabilization In Camera- The image stabilizer is in the body of the camera, in contrast to other systems that have it on the lens. This allows you to get great lenses, and older lenses that do not have image stabilization on the lens.
*High ISO, Noise Reduction, IQ: This camera allows you to shoot to 56000 or something ridiculous like that, ive shot all the way to 5000 and the noise its not too bad, (for night time) but The camera performs best between 100-3200
CONS:
*-Not popular in the US, its hard to find accessories, service, lenses in stores. I had to do all my related purchases online.
*-It takes a while getting used to, and finding the best performance for each lens. When comparing lenses to other brands, I've found that while quality is very comparable, the consistency of the quality is not. You migh buy a new lens online and find that you need to return it because your copy sucks, and then get a second copy and its excellent. I've read very mixed reviews on this.
*-Pentax carries a lot less lenses than Nikon, Canon, etc.
*-Pentax doesn't make Full frame bodies.. so if at one point you decide that you want to shoot full frame, you will need to switch to another system.
So far, I am extremely please with this camera. I am not a pro and I mostly shoot nature and landscapes, so for me having a medium size DSLR, with weather sealed body and lenses was ideal. Ive shot below freezing temperatures where other cameras wont turn on. Also at the beach where waves are crashing and its nice not to worry that your equipment will get wet and ruined. I also the image quality for the price is amazing! I will upload photos soon. I currently have the KIT lens 18-55mm WR, a 16mm 2.0 wide angle lens, a 50mm lens, and currently shoppping for 50-300mm.
Ultimately, the best canera for you, is the camera that you will have with you. So I recommend do your research and get a camera that works for you so that you wont miss out on those shots. :)

TL;DR: Unless you earn your living taking photos, the incredible value of the K-50 and the Pentax system overall vastly outweighs the disadvantages compared to Canon and Nikon systems.
I originally decided to buy a DSLR for honeymoon photos. I had always been happy enough with cell phone photos, but I figured a little extra effort and money were worth it for something as important as a honeymoon.
Knowing full well that I wasn't and would likely never be a pro-level photographer, I researched entry level DSLRs and was originally going to go with Nikon until I saw a commenter on an article heckling the author for leaving Pentax out of a list of best entry level DSLRs.
After researching Pentax and the K-50 I decided it was the best fit for my needs, and I think it's very likely a fit for yours too.
If you're coming from a history of cellphone cameras and point-and-shoots like I did, you'll be floored by the quality and flexibility of the K-50. Even if you're already familiar with DSLR caliber photography, I think you'll find the K-50 holds its own admirably.
Where the K-50 really shines is in its value. You won't find in-body image stabilization, weather sealing, dual control dials, or an intervalometer in another camera until you start paying a lot more. In-body image stabilization in particular will have a real impact on your day to day (or rather night to night) photos. Additional lenses you buy will be cheaper too since they won't have to have their own stabilization components. The weather sealing can make a big difference as well. I've shot in heavy rain and gotten the camera covered in rainwater without any trouble whatsoever. If you're uneasy about image quality not holding up to Canon or Nikon, consider that not only will practical quality differences be slight especially from a hobbyist perspective, but having image stabilization and weather sealing will let you get shots you'd otherwise miss. Getting the shot is the most important part of photography!
The biggest downside is that Pentax lenses and accessories are less prolific than Canon or Nikon. There's still a ton of great lenses, just not as many. In particular the really high end professional Canon and Nikon lenses generally don't have an equivalent for a Pentax mount. This is why I say that if you don't earn you living taking photos you'll very likely be happy with a Pentax.
As a bit of an open source nut, I also love that the native RAW format of the K-50 is Adobe's open DNG standard.
Since this is a camera review, I figure rather than continuing to ramble about specifics, I'd simply include some shots that show off the versatility of the K-50.
- The first is a straightforward daylight photo of a woman at a renaissance fair.
- The second is a six second exposure in early morning light of my cat laying on the bed. Being able to do long exposure and avoid the noise of signal amplification is where a proper camera really breaks away from a cellphone camera.
- The third is a shot of the dragon at Harry Potter World breating fire. I was only able to get this shot by shooting in burst mode and holding down the shutter when I expected the fire to start. The K-50 will pull 5 frames per second which was perfect for this.
- The fourth is a high sensitivity (ISO 1600) evening light photo of a lizard. This mostly shows off the bokeh of the kit 18-55 zoom lens, which is just ok. I didn't apply any noise reduction, so if you zoom in you can get an idea of the noise characteristics of the sensor.

Being able to shoot handheld at night with only ISO 1600 sensitivity is only possible because of it. Otherwise it would have to be a lot noisier to keep the exposure time low enough to avoid camera shake.

I originally decided to buy a DSLR for honeymoon photos. I had always been happy enough with cell phone photos, but I figured a little extra effort and money were worth it for something as important as a honeymoon.
Knowing full well that I wasn't and would likely never be a pro-level photographer, I researched entry level DSLRs and was originally going to go with Nikon until I saw a commenter on an article heckling the author for leaving Pentax out of a list of best entry level DSLRs.
After researching Pentax and the K-50 I decided it was the best fit for my needs, and I think it's very likely a fit for yours too.
If you're coming from a history of cellphone cameras and point-and-shoots like I did, you'll be floored by the quality and flexibility of the K-50. Even if you're already familiar with DSLR caliber photography, I think you'll find the K-50 holds its own admirably.
Where the K-50 really shines is in its value. You won't find in-body image stabilization, weather sealing, dual control dials, or an intervalometer in another camera until you start paying a lot more. In-body image stabilization in particular will have a real impact on your day to day (or rather night to night) photos. Additional lenses you buy will be cheaper too since they won't have to have their own stabilization components. The weather sealing can make a big difference as well. I've shot in heavy rain and gotten the camera covered in rainwater without any trouble whatsoever. If you're uneasy about image quality not holding up to Canon or Nikon, consider that not only will practical quality differences be slight especially from a hobbyist perspective, but having image stabilization and weather sealing will let you get shots you'd otherwise miss. Getting the shot is the most important part of photography!
The biggest downside is that Pentax lenses and accessories are less prolific than Canon or Nikon. There's still a ton of great lenses, just not as many. In particular the really high end professional Canon and Nikon lenses generally don't have an equivalent for a Pentax mount. This is why I say that if you don't earn you living taking photos you'll very likely be happy with a Pentax.
As a bit of an open source nut, I also love that the native RAW format of the K-50 is Adobe's open DNG standard.
Since this is a camera review, I figure rather than continuing to ramble about specifics, I'd simply include some shots that show off the versatility of the K-50.
- The first is a straightforward daylight photo of a woman at a renaissance fair.
- The second is a six second exposure in early morning light of my cat laying on the bed. Being able to do long exposure and avoid the noise of signal amplification is where a proper camera really breaks away from a cellphone camera.
- The third is a shot of the dragon at Harry Potter World breating fire. I was only able to get this shot by shooting in burst mode and holding down the shutter when I expected the fire to start. The K-50 will pull 5 frames per second which was perfect for this.
- The fourth is a high sensitivity (ISO 1600) evening light photo of a lizard. This mostly shows off the bokeh of the kit 18-55 zoom lens, which is just ok. I didn't apply any noise reduction, so if you zoom in you can get an idea of the noise characteristics of the sensor.
