The battery life is grate, if you brush average twice per day, fully charged battery is at least good for a week.
Love the product. It was great, if the package includes toothbrush head cover.
I feel like I just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist.
I’ve been using Oral B for 10+ years and my recent toothbrush was probably 2-3 years old. It’s lasted forever! I just felt it was time to get a new one so was trying to decide between the $69 and the $299. Is there really $200 with of difference? Are either of them really going to be any better than my current one?
I said F it…. The black iO looks nicer than the others so I’ll pay for some aesthetics and hope it works better or maybe carry’s a longer charge or something. .
Dayyyummm it was worth it. Not even playin…. I straight up feel like I just left the dentist. Even made the wife try it. And ordering her the white one so she doesn’t steal my ish.
100% worth the investment. I can’t speak to the $69 or $129 one but this one is worth the price all day.
-Aesthetically modern and neat looking
-Easier to keep clean, my old brush had a cavity at the bottom that connected to the battery charger, this new one is flat so no areas for water or gunk to collect
-Love the travel case that is rechargeable so for short trips, this is perfect so you don't have to lug around the charger. You don't realize how nice it is to have a sturdy case for travel if you travel a lot. I always keep my toothbrush in my carry on in case the airline loses my luggage; I want to be able to brush my teeth.
-The brush head is a tiny bit larger than than the old one so it took a little bit to get used to. I have a small palate so to get to each tooth, size is noticeable. Got used to it in a few days
-I really wanted to like the app but to me, after the initial excitement dies down; it's just a hassle. Who is going to open the app and click on the brush analysis every time you brush? Not me. Would be super useful if this app tracks and analyzed each toothbrushing event without you manually having to start and finish on the app. I've stopped using this functionality
-I like the colors that illuminate while brushing that will alert me if I am using too much pressure
-I like that the brush times each event on the actual toothbrush so you have a great idea of how much you need to spend on each quadrant
-I always have easy dental cleanings with little plaque and my dentist attributes it to my toothbrush.
-I prefer the shape of this brush head compared to others that are rectangular because the circular brush head can better maneuver each tooth. This brush is just a tiny bit wider than my last one so I did notice that at first it took some very deliberate navigating to get to the back molars because my mouth is so small.
Summary:
Overall, I love the looks, portability with the rechargeable travel case, and how well it cleans my teeth. It is on the expensive side because each replacement head sold in a 2 count package is 30.00. But I did get an awesome deal that included 4 replacements so I am set for the year.
A suivre!
The brush does a fantastic job!!! :)
Let me start by saying this brush offers one of the best brushing experiences I've ever had. It has several different brushing modes that are easy to select through for what you want, which seems to adjust how intense the vibration and spin is. It holds enough charge that it could easily last 20 brushes before needing charged. My teeth feel incredibly clean and already look better after just a few brushes (with whitening toothpaste) Easy to use, great clean.
The app also works pretty easy. You'll need Bluetooth and gps enabled to connect, but it is able to monitor pressure, brushing coverage, and time spent brushing to tell you exactly where you missed, of you pushed too hard/little, and if you are brushing as long as you should.
Overall, incredible brush, and a very happy customer.
Why 4 and not 5 stars....?: That extra $50 (v io8) $100 (v io7) is value marginally (really not IMO) worth the up charge. I was just willing to blow it off money -- if that ain't you, then 7 or 8 are better values. The extra heads.... great, and the 1 or 2 extra modes more of a marketing ploy - not a big deal. My biggest issue is the charging case. There is no engineering reason I can fathom that the travel charger should be anything other than USB-C and not a proprietary connector. Nearly all phones and most small electronics use USB-C given the flexible power features within that standard. Thus, as a traveler, having to remember THAT cable for the ONE use...dumb. The use case for the product includes connection to cell phones, just about all modern phones use USB-C for its versatile power options and user flexibility. Not a show-stopper. The battery lasts a while. For the extra money, I want the it be the best it can, and it a dumb to design the case with a proprietary external cable. I would rate the io7 and 8 as 5s because they do not include the charger and provided a better 'value' if value your target.
The Bad: It's pricey. The delta costs for the extra brushes and additional mode is marginal value -- but OK to have. The silly case design for a premier product is my value-and-functional gripe. It's a small part, I am mostly in love with the brushing part, but io7 or io8 would have been just fine as I don't use the fluff modes anyway.
Summary: It rocks, and I really do like it a lot. Just annoyed about the power design for the travel case... just silly (I think Phillips uses USB in their flagship brush, hint hint Braun).
Would definitely recommend!
The app is cool but unpractical to use every day. It would be nice if they could make a change to record the data without the need to open the app on the phone. Like smartwatches do with activities, etc.
The green light really helps me not to use too much strength which was a problem I had.
The travel case could be charged with a usb. For travel purposes it would be nice not having to carry another charger just for the brush.
Overall I’m very happy with my purchase.
It is an expensive brush indeed, but for me was totally worth it.
AI Feedback/App: in order to get any feedback, the app has to be launched while you are brushing. I do not make it a habit keeping my phone next to me at all times, so when I get up in the morning/go to bed at night, my phone is not usually next to me at the sink. but, the app does what it says, it shows you progress towards your goal of clean teeth.
The brush itself is great and I feel gets a better clean compared to my previous Sonicare, so I really do like how it works overall. It is really expensive and I believe the lower cost IO Series brushes may be a better value.
one reason I purchased this brush for was for travel. The advertising implies the Travel Charging Case does not require a plug to charge the battery, but alas, this is just bait and switch images. The image does not show a cord, but shows the handle lit up like it is charging. But, after trying to charge the case, I realized the case only works with the supplied power cord.
If you put it back on the charger before going to bed, hopefully you have a door to your bathroom as it lights up the entire space until charged with a pulsing bright light.
It usually makes a good guess as to what part of your mouth you are working in, but sometimes it guesses wrong. Just keep doing what you are supposed to, it will eventually understand where you are.
The most annoying glitch is that you have to be extremely careful not to let water droplets get on your smart phone while you are brushing. Droplets can get the oral-b app very confused, and make it think you are ending your session very early.
Also, if you buy one, be sure to get the optional protection plan. My first one quit after about 6 months. When I turned it on, it would make a horrible rattling sound from somewhere inside. And when you get a replacement, be very sure to find the settings on the first one, and turn off bluetooth. Otherwise, the second brush will get confused.
It will take a little time to get used to this tooth brush as it is incredibly powerful, and can easily leaving your gum line feeling irritated. Similar to that after dental cleaning feel. The sensitive plus mode is probably the best daily option and the higher intense setting. The only reason you should choose the iO series over the others is the integration with the app and the ability to see how you are actually cleaning your teeth and the amount of pressure you are using on a daily basis. For stats nerds, this is great.
Look for a deal on this. Would rate 5 if it were not for the price. This definitely cleans your teeth exceptionally well, and the way it is able to isolate a tooth puts it above the sonic care in my opinion. Being a coffee drinker, sonic care just doesn't reach in between the crevices very well.
Anyways - The iO series is amazing! It is money well spend iMHO, and if you like to take care of your teeth & mouth - the iO9 is a MUST! I highly recommend it. Comes as described with all the 'bells & whistles' and has a total of 4 (four) brushes in the package. The photos show 4, description talks about 3 'replacement brushes', so totaling 4.
I am impressed and strongly recommend
It's nice to have a simpler app that only focuses on your progress and helps you clean perfectly, but I think engineers go too far.
The toothbrush itself is really good quality. The Travel kit is good but it would be great if it had two places for heads instead of one. Also, why two plugs?! One for a travel case and one for the regular charging station?! Why not eliminate one and make the plug work with the stand and the case?! Seems like two different teams developed the case and the stand and were not in sync with each other.
Would give it 4.5 stars considering everything else. Not sure what the blue light means, but I gather the green means I'm using the correct pressure and the red means I'm using too much. It will stop in a pulsing fashion sometimes, believe because I'm going across my teeth too fast? That all seems intuitive, and overall (from my laymen's perspective) it just strikes me as a solid, very quality made device.
I cannot connect the brush to the Oral B app. I have restarted my phone, deleted and reinstalled the app, turned Bluetooth on and off and no success. I called Oral B support and during my conversations with the representative I discovered that the brush never once went into sync mode when trying to connect to the app via Bluetooth. (sync mode is when the brush blinks a blue color at the ring as its connecting/syncing) I believe that this brush was returned for the same reason and Amazon decided to resell it anyway. I have already processed a return/replace and indicated such in the description. The condition of the internal box shows wear and tear which is also why I suspect that this unit was a return.
I'll update this review once I get the replacement and see if there is any difference.
My first two days were spent trying to set up the app and use it... I also tried troubleshooting by emailing, chat, calling Oral B and did not get any response or was able to speak w anyone!! When spending $300 + on a toothbrush you expect CS to be available and easy to use AND the app to work and connect to my brush not say the "toothbrush cannot be located" when it is the Oral B app!!! Very disappointed.
The app is clean and the only thing I would improve is where the AI thinks my tooth brush is cleaning but I give it a 8/10 for the AI
NOW THE REAL QUESTION IS…..
Is expending that amount of money on a toothbrush the right thing and the answer is HELL YEA !
I’ve had issues with my gums and tried different manual toothbrushes and kinds of toothpaste and mouthwash, but it never really helped.
My teeth feel cleaner than they have in years. I already noticed my teeth are shades whiter and my gums feel healthier. Way less inflammation.
Yea, it’s expensive, but really worth it. Amazon offers monthly payments, so it helps.
The stubborn guy is now in love with this brush. Recommends it as a 9.5/10
The .5 is lost due to having to download the mobile application to modify some settings.
