I have had this product twice, both times the product died at approximatedly 6 months from the purchase, for the same reasons. The signal in the wired ports started to fail randomly, then definitively. The only access was through the wireless conection, and then near the end, the wireless signal also died. I claimed for the product warranty and I received a new one... the same is happening again, 6 months later. My assumption is that this product, that doesn't has a FAN on it, overheats. It really get's hot. For the second one, I even installed a timer since the beggining, to ensure it gets off at least 5 or 6 hours a day, but even with this precaution, it is failing again. This is a good product while it works, but seems to be disposable on just 6 months ! I'm really mad about it. I'll look for any other brand, hopefully one that doens't overheat.

Am sorry to say. you don't need a rate, if ask me concerning the rate! its really worse! why? because I order this netgear wg111, but without CD installer, am getting insane to install and i cannot use, when i ask the CD installer, you sent me the SpeedBooster not compatible on Netgear WG111, and I sent it back to you, but my payment you did not sent me back, until now you have my payment, am sorry I cannot trust you, what I experience in your handRodolfo

I've had it for 10 months, it's performed perfectly for me. I use wifi to connect a Mac running 10.6, a Windows 7 PC, an 3Gs iPhone & an iPod, all connect perfectly. I'm able to get coverage throughout my 3 br ranch house fine. I have it on an APC battery backup so power glitches are smoothed out. After the first set up I've not had to touch it.

I Purchased this unit for the wireless and NAS capability.The setup and operation was fine. It also recognized my IOMEGA usb2 external drive without a hitch. Suddenly after one month the connection to my NAS went dead. It froze my router and I could not connect until I disconnected the drive.AFter an hour of boot and reboot, reset to defaults, I called customer service.According to them, the drive was not compatible to their router. That would be fine, but nowhere does it state a compatibility issue with certain drives. SO beware if you want to use this as a NAS drive.

this product installed very easily (esp. if you have the wireless Netgear router). It is truly a plug and play.I was unsure of the product from tghe description, so I called the seller who actually answered his phone. He was very infomraative and promised to get the item out and mailed as I was in a rush. I received it within 2 days.I would recommend this product and this seller.

I bought this router just to have the DSL modem and the wireless router in a single device. It worked fine for about one year but now the LAN ports from 2 trough 4 are constantly droping packets. From the web management interface, under diagnostics I did a ping to different devices connected to this ports and I get a 25% to 75% packet loss. The issue does not affect the wireless connection. I would not recommed anyone to buy this product. I regret to have wasted my money on Netgear product. I tried everything, from a firmware upgrade to hard reset to no avail. Unfortunately the one year warranty is already expired :-( .

I needed a version 2 wg111 to work in backtrack linux. This was not a v2 so i returned and bought a v2. they both worked great the v3 just has a different chipset than the v2.also they kinda run a little hot.

Not recommended. Is slow, intermittent, quirky, and fickle. I usually love Netgear products this is the first one I ever purchased in which I wish I didn't. Not reliable.

Item was in good condition and the struggle between AT&T setup through the netgear page went on for days. Even though I sent in a detailed question for solving..nothing came back. Finally had it up and running. NOTE: the serial number had been lined through with magic marker making it difficult in asking Netgear's peeps for assistance.If you don't mind small nightmares at the setup stage this is a great product and price.

I had to download a driver for Window 7 but once I did that and installed it, it works wonderfully. It came quickly and works fine.

I have five of these devices in my office: two working as access points and three working as bridges. I have not done any speed tests, so I can not comment on other reviewers complaints there. For our purposes everything works fine, and the devices were very easy to setup. However, there is one detail in the specifications that I overlooked. The 802.11n standard can operate at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This access point only transmits on 5 GHz, so it is NOT backward compatible with 802.11b or 802.11g devices. MORE IMPORTANTLY though, it is not even compatible with every Netgear 802.11n network adapter. I ordered the Netgear WN111 802.11n USB adapter, and it only transmits on the 2.4 GHz band, so it can not see this access point. Only dual-band adapters will be able to connect to this access point. We used this to setup bridges to desktops and IP phones in parts of the office that I didn't want to run cable to, and it was great for that. It is also great when I use a laptop that has a dual-band N adapter in it. However, it is useless with any B or G network adapter such as the ones in our older laptops, iPhone, etc.

It worked at first but the connection kept dropping. Then every time you try to open the wizard it flashes on the screen for a second and disappears. You can't get the wizard to stay on screen for more than a second so can't change any settings. A total waste of time and money - don't bother with it.

Due to the fact that my old wireless went out too fast to enable me to buy on Amazon I ended up purchasing this router at Best Buy. This turned out to be a good thing as it was very confusing trying to sort out all the various types of routers available on Amazon with one reviewer saying one thing and then others with other opinions. I ended up going with the advice of the BB clerk and took home this mid range priced router.Set up was very simple with the enclosed CD and I had it up and running in a few minutes although I could have done it with the written instructions as well. The range of this router covers my entire two story townhouse and services two laptops, an Internet radio and a Samsung DVD player that we stream Netflix movies, Pandora and YouTube. So far everything works like it should with no problems streaming.The final step was re-entering the router password in our laptops, Internet radio and DVD player and we were good to go. This router will probably be all the average household will need unless you have an unusually large single story house or want to extend to a patio or pool area away from the house.Update March 7, 2013 Almost three years later and it is still working flawlessly. I have a added a Roku 2 HD streamer and it worked pretty well with a hiccup once in awhile so I hardwired through the house wiring with an Actiontec PWR511K01 500 Mbps HomePlug HD Powerline Wall Plug Network Adapter Kit (2 Units). This helped greatly. There is nothing better than a wired connection in my experience.

i got it 1 week ago and after 4 hours of tech support trying to understand there poor english and waiting for themto look up the answers on there computer i gave upit will not send out or receive signals in the N modemy computer is a brand new hp slim line that supports all 3 modes and this unit is also supporting all 3 modesbut not with mei am sending it back and trying another brandrichard in fort Lauderdale

Told her she could but she didn't believe me; told her to READ and FOLLOW the cd installation and she would be fine. She did and was. She loves it.

Setting up a wireless internet connection is often like experience the migraine headache: first comes anxiety, followed by the pain of the actual experience, and concluded with immense frustration at the time wasted. Just from my own experience (and those of a few family members), getting wireless "just right" is a monumental task. Fortunately, this NetGear product made the overall task much less frightening.Basically, this product works like it should (no small statement in the world of wireless router technology). Just follow the basic hookup instructions, and let your home computers detect the signal. One helpful hint: Though the NetGear installation disc will prompt a hard-line connection to a base computer for product configuration, this step can easily be skipped if registering the product is not high on your priority list. Just get the cords right, and let your computer's wireless adaptor (whether purchased or imbedded) detect the network and you'll be off and running.One of life's great ironies is that it often times takes multiple Internet consultations to set up a wireless internet connection, but in this case it was a much more positive, stress-free situation. I highly recommend the Wireless-N product (over Wireless-G) for its strength of signal. I live in a relatively large house, and each wireless device still gives me a working and usably fast connection to access the web.

Setup was a little rough (mostly figuring out how to connect to it for initial admin tasks), as noted in other reviews, but once it was set up, it has been running great. I use it to connect my main PC to a Netgear Dual-Band WNDR3700 without having to run a network cable. I haven't seen any issues with it yet in nearly two months of use.

I bought two of these WAPs to use in "bridge" mode to connect across my house where I was getting a poor Wireless G signal. I got the connection set up pretty easily but it kept randomly dropping, requiring me to get up and either push the connect buttons on both WAPs or power cycle them. I bought a NetGear USB wireless N receiver and was suprised to see that it received a stronger signal from my old G router and the NetGear WNHDE111 N router I had placed right next to the old router. I currently have the bridges about 30 feet apart with two plain-old drywall walls between them and only get 40% signal (plus constant drops). The same received gets 33% from the old wireless G router. This despite claims from NetGear of 10x range vs. wireless G.Also be very careful what NetGear wireless N receivers you purchase. One would think that a NetGear wireless N WAP and a NetGear wireless N card purchased at the same time would be compatible, but after hours of trying to get a connection over several weeks, and finally resorting to NetGear support, I discovered that NetGear sells more than one flavor of Wireless N. The WNHDE111 WAP operates at 5 GHz but most NetGear N receivers are 2.4 GHz. At that time I bought the WAPs, ONLY the USB WNDA3100 received worked with the WNHDE111 WAP. No PCI cards or PCM/CIA cards from NetGear were compatible. Of course I couldn't tell that from Amazon.com (they listed the PCMCIA WN511T and PCI WN 311B in the "people who bought the WHNDE111 also bought these" list. The only way to tell which are 2.4 and which 5.0 is to click the Technical Details button. By the time I discovered that NetGear has "wireless N" and also "wireless N" it was too late to return the receivers so I'm stuck with $250 of 2.4 GHz equipment that doesn't work with my bridges. I ended up just running a long cable across the house. It doesn't look very good, but at least it works.

I've had this product since September of 2009.It seemed to work fine for about 8-10months. After that the WIFI signal began to constantly cut in and out.I've updated the firmware to the latest 1.0.30 version and it seemed to work well for about an hour then it began cutting in and out about every 15min again.I'm not an idiot, I have my degree in EE and am very computer savy. I've gone through all the settings countless times and can not find a solution.Regrettably, I can no longer rely on my wireless connection and have to resort to my wired desktop for a reliable internet connection (I shut off the wireless).If I ever find a solution, I will repost.Regards.

I have one of these routers with a NAS box hooked up. Worked well for 2 months then router started dropping NAS connection. Rebooting the NAS works for a day or so. Called Netgear, spoke to 6 people. They did everything possible to abdicate responsibility for their unit. I bought another of this same model and the NAS works perfectly. The problem is definitely with the router. They said they won't issue an RMA because my computers can see the Internet so obviously there is nothing wrong with the router. But they'll gladly transfer me to their GearHead support so I can pay to have this problem fixed. These tech support people (Rajiv, ID#1098, Raj #22650, Joy #46112, and Matt #46042) are morons who only parrot scripts. During this I spoke with Western Digital (The NAS company) and in a second they sent me a new drive even if they weren't sure the problem was with their drive. Now THAT's great customer support! I will NEVER buy another NETGEAR product again.

it says 3g & 4g, but I do not see in compatibility lis any 4g devices + it doesn't work with mine one lg vl600, called customer support: some say it's supported some say not and will communicate it to headquarter...NEVER will buy netgear devices anymore

This is a very handy and useful adapter. It took a little doing to get the right drivers installed, but after that, It works great. With my "N" router, I get 144.5Mbps. I use it for my old computer in another part of the house. I get good reception. Recommend this as a cheap and easy wireless connetion.

The [ASIN:B001GF4SME NETGEAR DGN2000 Wireless-N Router with Built-in DSL Modem]]works fine. My daughter and husband had trouble setting it up because they were impatient. I walked my daughter through the set up on a phone conversation. Piece of cake, router works great.
