Really good switch for the price. I installed these at 2 of my clients and the software with it is great to keep an eye on network traffic.

It is a lot of switch for a small amount of money. Since installing it about a month ago, it's run without any problems. The fans are a bit noisy, so it is best installed in a room somewhere other than where people work. other than that, everything is ok so far.

This my 3rd stacked unit along side the previous ones I've gotten. They all work together as intended. They stack very easily. they have tons of features for this price range for a 1Gig Stackable unit compared to others. I like the life time warranty on them. highly recommend for small businesses.

it is powering over 40 VoIP Polycom phones pefectly. That's all I have to say I wish they would not make a requirement. It makes me want to stop making recommendations. But this was a good product that arrived quicklyl

I bought these switches to connect two separated building over fiber. They seem to do the job well and we have had no need to reset so far.

Less than 30 days after installation, ports 27 & 28 stoped working. This problem was painful to diagnose due to our LAN configuration.Netgear customer service was easy to deal with, but charges to ship a replacement before receiving the defective unit. If you need to keep your network up until the replacement comes, you'll have to pay.Update: The replacement unit is still working now after a few months but I wouldn't give it any more stars.

Have had this switch running 24/7 for about two years with no problems at all. Web interface is easy to use and powerful. Highly recommended, perfect for SMBs.

Seemed like a nice unit but does not interoperate well with Cisco VoIP phones using VLANs to separate voice/data, so I returned it for a Cisco device. I am sorry to see it go but would prefer a working network.

As an IT professional catering to small to medium size businesses, I have used the Netgear GS748T series switch in several mission critical networks and have NEVER had an issue. I used these at many of my clients and they just "work".. From the VLANs to the throughput a truly A-class device for the money. A few of the switches have literally been running for years without fault.

Purchased GS748Tv3 in 2010. Noticed one of the 3 fans stopped turning, and Netgear sent a replacement, a GS748Tv4. Both units worked well, and even with one fan failing, the v3 unit also worked 100%. These units stay "on" 24/7/365, and it's amazing how it just works and works.The new firmware in v4 indicates status of the fan, whereas there was no such indicator in v3.For what you pay, these are a good value, especially for a weekend networking warrior. It's a smart switch, but not fully managed. It's almost plug-and-play. Follow directions and you should not have any problems.If you are buying one of these, make sure you are getting the latest version.

Bought 2 of these switches. There are problems with network disconnects that gave me fits. It's not consistent and only seems to happen once or twice a day making troubleshooting very difficult. There are no built in diagnostics so there's no way to tell if the switch is malfunctioning. Netgear tech support was completely useless as the only thing they could do was have me reset the units to their factory settings. Their only test was to run a ping test and wait for a disconnect. In which case they would replace the units. I was having problems with both of them. It's hard to believe they would both be defective. They both had the most recent firmware. After 2 months of headaches, I gave up returned them and pay a restocking fee which was pretty steep. I wound up ordering 2 Cisco switches that were more expensive, but haven't had any issues with them.

I bought this for my home network since I outgrew my 24port switch. This switch is very nice for the price. Since its a smart switch, it gives you so much power over your network. VLANing, QOS, it even has some "green" features to turn off unused network ports.

One thing to watch out for on these switches - Amazon seems to have stock of several older versions (firmware). Make sure to download and update to 3.03 (current) or you'll be wondering if you even got the right switch.Be sure, also, to set the IP address on these switches *before* you plug in workstations/printers/etc.. I was in too much of a hurry and was tearing my hair out wondering why clients were randomly dropping.If I had bothered to read the docs (again, too much attention paid to getting it done quick) I would have seen that the switches had the same IP address and the problems I was encountering had a logical reason - wouldn't have had to diagnose cabling/termination/etc. wasting time.For what it's worth, the VLAN/trunking features are nice additions and I typically don't have clients where this is useful, I've found it useful at my most recent job where I have about a half dozen IP cameras. VLANing those keeps the available throughput to my client's network segmented and not stomped on. We'll see if the VLAN actually works well in the following weeks/days. I'm a bit suspicious that a switched priced at this level would actually work as advertised with the VLAN feature. Hopefully I'll be impressed.But anyhow, so far so good. There is a noted improvement in throughput over the old network (100 Full duplex) with the new gigabit cabling and switches.The switches were easy to set up and didn't have features that were confusing to set up. Simple. No IOS to program, all web based and stable.

I needed a 48 port gig switch to accompany a already growing network. This fit the price and feature point nicely. I have tied this in with a couple of Cisco 3750 metros and it hums nicely. Vlans, trunks and all features work well. GUI is a bit static - but easy to navigate.Best thing is the switch just hums (and loud) and passes the packets like it should. I recommend this highly for anyone looking to upgrade from a 10/100 install to add a bit faster gig across the board.Sure its not going to give you line rate gig - but hey its cheap and it keeps the packets flowing. I recommend this highly for both tech installs and those of you that want speed, port aggregation and features enhancements above and beyond the basics.

It's a lot of switch for a small amount of money. Since installing it about a month ago, it's run without a hitch. I have only two hesitations in this purchase: 1) The fans are noisy, so it is best installed in a room somewhere other than where people work. 2) I have had some problems in the past with smaller Netgear switches. They have had a tendency to get zapped during lightning storms (while other manufacturers' switches weren't affected). Netgear will replace them for the cost of shipping the old one back, but you have to go through Indian-based tech support which is trained to make you feel like an blithering idiot and takes about an hour for what should be a 5-minute phone call.
