I purchased this product after reading every review on Amazon. Basically, this product does what I need to to do. It was ewasy to set up, great pictures and great audio. I recently started vlogging and this webcam was the right way to go. The price point was perfect and everything is working great with it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a webcam.

Arrived pretty fast. Disk would not load on Windows 8. Had to go online to and force the download and install to get it to work. Clip would not work on my monitor. Still will see how it goes. Bottom line get a different one that will load up on Windows 8 better.

I believe the one I got was a defect product. The video quality isn't bad but the color is very unstable. I can't adjust the color or the brightness to get the right value. If that doesn't happen this would be an excellent cam.

The webcam was easy to set up, and easy to understand. When I finally got it turned on, and started to take pictures, then it was more easy. Now if I can figure out Skype...

Works perfect as a web cam - use it with skype. Compact camera with maqny mounting options. Neat special effects available.

Nice and small for easy storage. Be sure to allow full installation of driver updates for the product too work. I am satisfied with my purchase.

This webcam worked on my Windows XP program a few times and quit. I have a Windows 7 now and specifications indicate compatability. However, even after loading the software, I couldn't figure out how to get to work. Gave up and bought a different webcam.

The camera was great but the cord to hook it to the computer is short. We had to buy a USB extension cord. I wish the cord were longer but the camera works great.

I had the color problem a lot of people described, and tried to solve it. It turns out that the webcam just can't handle incandescent lighting. I pointed the webcam at my monitor and it reproduced the colors shown there fine. I also pointed it at a CD with bright colors. The CD's colors were all magenta/brown--until I shone an LED flashlight on it, when magically the CD showed up in the proper colors. Increasing the lighting using more incandescent light, however, didn't work.I bet that the people who got it to work just aren't using incandescent light.

I made a present with these product. The resolution it's so bad, and the color that show it is not the same. After my friend told me I try to change and I couldn't. Do not waste your money with this product. I am very disappointed for the product and for the attention

LOVE IT! Conveient! Priced WAY lower than should have been. Magnet front and back, stand, and clip. Versatile. Crystal clear images and fast video. Best webcam I ever had. And NO ONE can beat the price for quality.

This webcam has slightly above average video with average software. It comes with many mounting options and each of them has challenges and/or drawbacks. Why doesn't the camera and/or the software allow this camera to be rotated in any direction? The magnetic mount is interesting and seems like a great idea. It allows you the rotate the camera and install it in just about any position, but that flexibility is useless if it doesn't have some internal, or external, way of rotating the output picture. The clip mount would be better if it could clip to things that were a bit wider. The stand mount could use a better base. Finally, I am also a bit wary about using/applying anything to a screen, monitor and/or computer.

I have been using Microsoft webcams for quite a while now and have stayed mostly with the VX-3000 model. It offered a cheap way for me to connect with my family so they can chat with my 2 year old. The quality has always been good on the audio front and OK on the video. Full screen mode would always look grainy and low resolution but for $30, I thought it was acceptable. I had the opportunity to try this Lifecam which supposedly offers a higher resolution that the 3000 model. And for 2 times the price, I was expecting the difference to be very noticeable.When I received the cameral I installed the software from the included CD. I had been using Microsoft web cams so I already had the base software installed which included the Lifecam software and Live Messenger. However, just in case this was a newer version, I ran the entire install. The install took forever (or what seemed like forever). After 15 minutes, I thought my computer was frozen but I could hear the drives spinning. I am assuming that the install program was uninstalling the previous version of the software first before installing the new version. There is no other explanation for the long install time unless there is a problem with the disc I had. Finally after almost 20 minutes, the install finished and I was asked to hook up the camera.That was when I noticed that the camera's permanent USB cable was about 3 feet long in total length. I need a minimum of 4 feet to reach the back of my desktop computer from where my desk is setup. Even the VX-3000 had a cable long enough to reach and provide a little slack. Lucky for me, I had a USB hub that was laying around unused so I used a 3 foot USB cable and the hub to give me the additional length I needed. Once that was done I started to play around with the camera. If you are using this on a laptop, the lenght isn't a big deal.Using the Lifecam program, I found that the lower resolution setting looked identical to the VX-3000 model I had been using. I changed the resolution to 2mp but noticed that video capture is not allowed at this rate. The highest you can record video is 800X600. This makes the 2mp video setting useless in the Lifecam program. Only still photos can be taken on this setting and the higher setting of just under 8mp (more on that later). The live video itself looked OK but I use a 2mp Microsoft camera on my laptop (I can't remember the model number off hand) that looks much better than this model. I was hoping that my desktop would provide better video performance as it is a much more powerful machine than my laptop. Sadly, with this camera, I did not see that performance.I then tried my live video chat using Live Messenger from Microsoft. I saw zero difference in the look and sound compared to my VX-3000 model. My father on the other end also saw no difference. So for the casual video chat user that lives in Microsoft land, there is no benefit to going with this cameral over the cheaper models. On the photo side, all of the 8mp stills I took were terrible quality. Not sure what it is doing but they all came out looking like 1mp pics blown up to larger sizes.I also tried using video chat with Skype as this is supposed to support higher quality video. The camera does work right out of the box with Skype which is a nice thing. In my testing, the video looked the same as Live Messenger so I saw, again, I saw no benefit compared to my cheaper camera.In Summary:Pros:1. The slim design is nice and it "looks" much better than my VX-30002. Easy setup even with the long install time.2. I actually like the little stand that it comes with that attaches via the magnet. It makes it easy to move it around (now that it's attached to a longer USB cord!)Cons:1. USB cord is way too short. Fine for a laptop but people with desktops that are more than 3 feet away from the monitor may have issues in getting teh cord to reach a USB port.2. The clip does not fit my Acer flat panel monitor. This is OK for me because I prefer the stand but for some it could be a problem. You can use various attachments which changes how the clip is used but I didn't play around with it much because I liked the stand. It did, however, fit my Dell laptop with no issues.3. Video quality is suspect compared to what it claims. I would say this is equal to a 1.3 megapixel but falls short of high quality when compared to my other Microsoft laptop webcam that supports 2.0 megapixel video.4. Still pictures came out terrible. I don't see the point of needing a high quality still picture camera in my webcam but don't expect this to take great pictures5. No video capture allowed above 800X600. If you are going to advertise 2.0 megapixel, at least live up to it. If I am missing a setting somewhere on this, I appreciate the heads up. It would be nice to be able to record at the higher setting.I would give Logitech or another brand a try if I was looking for a high quality webcam in the pric

I am a big fan of video chat. I use a different video conferencing software for my work and for my personal use. It is always great to see my family over the webcam no matter what the quality of the video is. However, I have thought that it would be even better if I could enjoy high quality video over the messenger or any video conferencing software. I am using several different kinds of webcams now and some of them are built-in webcams in the notebook computer. The picture quality coming out from those webcams made by Logitech, Creative, and Apple (built-in iSight) are pretty much the same, not good. The Microsoft LifeCam Show is the first high resolution web cam I have used. So I had high hopes and it really gave me very nice pictures. However, there are things that you need to know before you make the decision.The installation was simple and I did not have any problem with it. The thing I was impressed was the accessories. The desktop stand is the first thing I ever seen in a webcam and I immediately liked it. Since I use the LifeCam Show for my desktop and the LCD display is too thick to use a mounting clip, the desktop stand was a must for me. The LifeCam show is attached to the stand by a magnet and it makes it easy for me to adjust the angles. It comes with two more attachment discs that are basically magnets, so you can mount and unmount the LifeCam Show in other computers very easily once you stick the attachment disc on each display. The LifeCam show has two metal concaved surface in the front and back, so you have the options to stick the attachment disc on the front or the back of your display. The plastic carrying case is also a great idea to carry and to store the LifeCam Show.The one thing that I do not like is the length of the USB cord. It is too short to reach to the desktop sitting on the floor. It seems like the maker of the LifeCam Show is tarketing it to the notebook users. So, to use it with my desktop, I had to use a USB extension cable. If you are a desktop user who puts your computer on the floor and the display on the desk, you might need a USB extension cable like me.Since my main purpose of this webcam is for using it with a messenger and video conferencing software, I tested it on Skype, ooVoo, SightSpeed and NateOn (popular messenger in Korea) that I have been using. All works fine. However, I found something that could be a deal breaker for me. It does not give high quality video on Skype, ooVoo, and SightSpeed. The reason I guess is that the messenger (or video conferencing) software does not support it. Skype is supporting high quality video for Logitech high quality webcams, not this one. I found a Skype hack to force Skype to send a high quality video by using the LifeCam Show, however, it did not work. SightSpeed and ooVoo show familiar low quality video that I have always seen. I tried to tweak the settings, however, it was not successful. Only the NateOn messenger naturally supports it and I can see very crisply. NateOn is being used only by a small number of people in the States, though. I did not try on MSN messenger or Yahoo messenger since I do not use it. I can only hope that popular messengers will eventually support the high quality video from the LifeCam Show.The one thing that I like the most is a built-in noise cancellation mic. It works as a USB mic and delivers very clean sound. And the sensitivity is pretty good. By using two computers at my home, I heard the voice through the built-in mic and it was very good. I would use the LifeCam Show for my USB mic for recording voice in other applications.Unlike other reviewers stated, I was quite satisfied with the low light performance. Whenever I use any kind of video conferencing software, I had to worry about the lighting. With the light coming from behind, most webcams show very dark pictures. However, the LifeCam Show delivers bright pictures no matter what the lighting condition is. I tested at several places where normally generate dark video by other webcams, I got bright and clear video.Also, the software that came with the LifeCam Show gave a fun time to my kids. They love to put funny effects on their faces while enjoying the video chat. You can decorate yourself as a pirate during the video chat and can make a raining effect in the background of your video. My kids were having a lot of fun with it.Overall, the LifeCam Show is definitely a beautiful webcam and the finish of it is a top-notch. It is a 2.0 megapixel webcam and the quality of the picture coming out from it in low light condition is very good. With good light, this webcam can be used as a good digital camera. However, I might need to wait for the high quality video supported by most video conferencing software. That's why I give 4 stars, not 5 for this webcam.

The quality is mediocre for me right now, but I think that's my weird lighting and angle. Haven't actually recorded anything yet, but that will come soon enough.

I ordered 2 of those cameras 3 weeks ago. Shipping and everything was perfect from the seller. The negative thing is that this specific camera has a compact size lense and you cannot adjust it manualy. I installed the web cams in 2 diferrent computers with different OS (Win XP - 32bit and Win 7 64-bit) and they both had the same problem: the sound and picture quality were very good, except for the color, which was always purlpe-ish and brown and was never stable, no matter how the settings were adjusted. As for the appearance, it is quite charming, since it is very small and can be easily used for laptops and generally travelling with your computer. BUT it was pointless, since I couldn't use it because of the color. The customer service of the company was excellent, they sent me 2 other cameras, just in case there was a problem only with the 2 first specific items. But the other 2 web cams I received a few days later had also the same problem (let me mention I also installed the official updates from Microsoft). So now I am returning all 4 items and this is actually Microsoft's responsibility to fix this.The seller was really helpful.I wouldn't recommend this web cam, not even as a cheap choice, at least until Microsoft fixes it's problems.I also use another Microsoft web cam which is absolutely fantastic, but with this one it's different.

Everything else about this camera was fine, but with an extremely short USB cord, I had to buy an extender, which nearly doubled the effective price of the camera... Microsoft, spend an extra 10 cents on the copper for a longer cord!

This has worst quality image. The colors look like as though we are in Mars. I recomend not to buy it. Total waste of money

My kids are really enjoying this webcam. It was at a great price and is really a great webcam. I recommend it.

Perhaps this was a great camera few years back. But today, this is a medium quality camera. Very slow, bad colors, and very heavy software that uses lots of your system resources. At current prices, sure ... not bad. You can use it for a backup. But no one would pay the original suggested price today in my opinion.

At first I ordered this webcam and was scared to see the results because of all the reviews I've seen. It came today, and I must say, I am thoroughly surprised! First off I have to start with, you don't need to install the software. Just plug the webcam in and go. And a lot of people wrote that the picture quality is bad. I thought it was great! The frame rate is alright thought. Nothing amazing. The package came with a desktop stand, two stickers with magnets,and a laptop clip. I would recommend the stickers. I don't really like using desktop stands. And the laptop clip, which is my only complaint, does not fit on my laptop. My laptop is about half an inch thick, which is a little thick, but many clips fit it. This did not.Overall i thought this came out great! A lot of people complained about picture quality, but its actually not too bad!

When I first got this out of the box and plugged it in (without installing the software), I was really disappointed to see colors flickering constantly; it was as if it couldn't decide between magenta/yellow/cyan and the picture quality was horrible. Then I read a few more reviews and noticed a few people saying it was better in low light, so I turned off my high-beam desk lamp, and lo and behold, the colors stopped flickering and video quality is pretty darn good in low light, even in REALLY low light when it's almost difficult to see in person. So the color cast is wonky with incandescent lighting, but I'm using it primarily as a pet webcam so it suits my needs fine.I can't vouch for any of the software (bloatware) that comes with it, but it was pretty much plug-and-play (and restart) for me. I love the small form factor, and the multiple ways you can attach it with the magnetic discs.Overall the quality is mediocre, since it is 15 fps and there's the weird color thing when you have bright beams of light, but for $20 (plus $10 next day local delivery) I'm pretty satisfied, or rather, relieved that I don't have to return it and waste shipping. A solid choice if you want a portable webcam and don't sit in bright light all day.

I chose this Webcam because it is the same brand and look as one that I have just recently lost on a trip. I wanted something that would be very easy just to open and plug and play. This one plugs and plays, but the color of the image is all washed out and somewhat reddish in tone. It was so disappointing for the new one not to be as good as the "old" one. I may return it, but would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem. . . . and solved it! --Nestegger

This is a very nice little camera. The installation takes forever, but there wasn't anything I had to do. The picture and sound quality are just fine (there is a lag in the picture, but it's only noticeable if you move something very fast in front of the camera). The microphone seems to work well, and the picture is fairly clear. The camera comes with several magnets, which is how you clip or stick the camera to your computer. It also has a small free-standing stand if you don't want to use the clip. The camera comes with a small plastic case, which is great for me because I use it on a laptop, and like to be able to shove it in my bag when I'm done with it. The camera can also take up to 8MP still shots, but they're pretty fuzzy (just use a digital camera instead...they're really not worth it).

I bought this camera to Skype with out of state family so they could see our little baby. The hardware was exactly what I expected, it was small and discreet. Totally ideal for the kind of webcam I wanted. I loved that it mounted magnetically to the laptop, a stand or where ever you wanted it.It comes with its own disc for installation which was easy.After installation, it opens the program automatically and you finally get to use the camera. Welp, the camera was functioning but the picture was horrible. I might as well have bought a black and white camera. I was wearing a black shirt and it came out looking light blue in the camera. My eyes are brown and the camera showed me with green eyes. Everything was washed out and it flickered between green, grey and magenta.I am so disappointed with the camera. It is MSRP $79.99. Of course on Amazon, it was a lot cheaper. It was worth what I paid, not MSRP. BOO HISS on this product. How disappointing Microsoft. You came out with XBOX 360 and Kinect but you cant get this camera right? Come on.

The picture quality is great, the workmanship (body etc...) is great, rugged. The size is excellent fits in the computer laptop bag easy. Works with all traditional communication sites... Skype, MSN messenger, Yahoo etc...This is one of the best webcams that I have ever purchased and used. Comes with a built in microphone also.Comes with editing software and operating software that allows you to add effects live while you're chatting such as hats, face masks etc... I purchased a second unit for our home computer after receiving this one.Highly recommended.The only con is that it mounts to it's own clip with a magnet which sometimes falls off. Other than that, the camera is worth every penny.

The product is not up to the mark . Does not have the relevance to the brand name .image of the videos are not of natural colors even after available adjustments are carried out.not satisfactory

This webcam looks really sleek. The magnet mount is nice and convenient and the installation is really easy. The only problems is that the image quality is horrible and the microphone picks up a lot of background noise. It color shifts a lot and made a dark navy blue shirt I was wearing look like it was light gray. Over all, its not a very good webcam. The two things that kept me from giving it a one star rating is the simple installation and its ease of use.

I'm not sure what the ultimate webcam would do as I only have fairly limited use for them, but this one for me was a slam dunk!I primarily just use webcam for video calls on Skype. Everyone I've talked to so far immediately complements the picture and sound quality. Installation was easy, price was great, and the box includes a bunch of nifty mounting options. I haven't tried any of those mounting options besides the stand as I use it for my desktop but that works great. My only complaint is that the cord is really short. Most desktop PC applications where the tower is underneath the desk, I think, will really struggle with this but I had a USB extension cord handy so it wasn't a big deal for me.In summary, great picture and great sound for a great price. I'm no webcam expert, but I'm thrilled!

The camera is junk. the color didnt seem right and when i tried to fix it, nothing happened. its not worth a penny! even if you would pay me to use it, I would decline.

hi, I bought this webcam to talk to my parents. This a a nice sophisticated looking camera. Very easy to install. And the microphone is really goood. But I didn't find the video as I had expected from a microsoft cam. Its true color technology keeps on finding he color which gives odd colors sometimes and the screen also flickers while doing that. This happens during the low light. But in the day time everything seems pretty awesome and the video quality is also great in full light. Overall I would recommend this product.

This took awhile for me to get around to installing and then even longer to begin using. While I really enjoy the idea of using a video cam, the actual implementation still seemed bulky and inconvenient. It's just so much easier to pick up the phone or use text based chat instead.Now, aside from my own personal quirks, this little cam offers a lot of great little features...almost none of which I actually end up using. Teens or kids might have a lot of fun with it including the ability to swap backgrounds or other small special effects, but the average adult like myself is likely to want performance over cute effects.Which leads to where the cam does a good job...the basic specs are solid. Clear view, decent sound and a small footprint. The price came down considerably since the original release making this a decent buy for the money.

Purchased this cam to pretty much use solely for Skype. Did a lot of research and this certainly is a great cam for the price. Listen to other reviewers though and DON'T install the microsoft software. My wife accidentally did and it caused numerous problems. but once uninstalled, it's back to working great again. I would definitely buy this cam again.

This webcam did not work for me. The picture was in all different colors(mostly red). I could not upload the video I recorded onto Youtube unless it was converted. When I converted it it still wouldn't upload to youtube. Do Not buy this webcam. It is a rip off for a higher price. I have a $20.00 webcam that works better than this one. I only bought the webcam be/c it can mount on my laptop's monitor which is what my other one couldn't do.

This is a tremendous web cam for the price. The web cam has fantastic software that comes with it. If you select a filter, the software is able to identify faces and create animations around them (i.e. putting virtual sun glasses or colorful hair on you) that moves and with your head. In addition it comes with great quality extras such as stands, mountable magnate holders clips and a case. I was very impressed with the great quality of the product--especially considering the price.

Have hesitated as did not know much about these things but read the Amazon customer reviews and bit the bullet and ordered.....followed suggestion by another purchaser and did not use the CD that comes with the camera but merely plugged it into the computer, downloaded skype and have had a ball talking to friends and family.......am ordering more for family members that do not have them...

Bought this camera on Amazon but I had to return it because it was malfunctioning! The colors look weird and the image quality was terrible!Fortunately Amazon refunded the full price and I did not have to pay for the return.

With the webcam war between Microsoft and Logitech, Logitech has so far been on top with its quality web cameras especially in low light conditions and video quality.This time around, the Microsoft LifeCam Show is now available with it's thin and sleek design. The LifeCam show comes with a 1 ft. stand, a magnetic stick and also a clip on for laptops. Also, boasting a good number of fun features, easily outnumbering the amount of features found in Logitech's QuickCam software and even Apple's visual effects.The ease of install is simply installing the program on CD, which I tested on one Laptop and it took around 10+ minutes (which is not bad compared to other webcam software programs that have to load all the special features).The first test was through AIM (easy to use on AIM) and video quality showed quite a bit of artifacting and noise in low light room conditions and increasing the quality in full video was about the same when viewed from a laptop. On the opposite end, I tested to see how things looked when viewed on my 24" iMac and it was soft and not as clear compared to a similarly priced Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000.I then did a test on two well known video-streaming sites which I did a broadcast using the Microsoft LifeCam Show and overall, a similar look as I had on AIM.On good light situation, with proper amount of sunlight in the room, thinks looked a bit better and although you have control over brightness, saturation, sharpness, etc. I was not able to come up with very clear video.Even using the Microsoft software, in a smaller screen, things look clearer but still too dark.Then I started to do some mobile lifecasting with the product and I wish the wire was a bit longer, so when walking around or placing your laptop in your bag and just doing a lifecast, you really need to keep the lifecam closer to you (pinned to your bag arm strap or your shirt) rather than the extra line to hold the camera up while walking.As for the special features, their are many which were quite fun (from rain, lightning, static images to moveable images and facial changes). I must admit though, that some of the effects that require body movement hung and I was waiting for minutes. Granted, I was testing this on a 3 year old laptop with only 2GB of ram but loading some effects took much longer than I would like.And as for software, you get the Microsoft camera program, you get the ability to install Microsoft Live chat, etc.Overall, the product is easy to use, it looks sleek and cool, a lot of effects to keep people happy, in fact my wife and my child loved the many effects included. But for many people who are looking for a camera for lifecasting or streaming broadcasts, the camera doesn't do well in low light conditions. You definitely want to have a lot of light nearby. But otherwise, the camera may be too dark for some. Also, I wish the cord was much longer for those who want to do mobile lifecasting and tend to keep their laptops in their bag while walking or for those who want to lifecast and need the additional length.So, overall, it's a good camera but when compared to a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 which is similarly priced, the LifeCam show doesn't function well in low light conditions even when you have tweaked the controls.

Okay first things first...Do Not, I repeat Do Not download the software that comes with the camera. First try to just plug it in and most likely whatever chat system you are using (Windows Live, Skype...) will find it and connect it.I spent 2 days of my life trying to get the software to work and then read the other reviews and realized that I should just plug it in.Aside from fighting with the software that I didn't need it is a great camera once I got it working. It gives a nice quality picture and works well in pretty much all lighting. The speaker works great too. I think I got more then my monies worth with this purchase.

Same problem as others have stated. Colors are distorted and grayed out, picture flickers. And that was when it actually worked. After some research, I installed updated drivers hoping this would help. Now the software won't even open. Returning this today.

This is my first webcam and based on some bad reviews from "a pro," I was quite worried if it will work out. But to my surprise, the whole set-up was so simple and easy. I used it with skype with not a slight problem. The sound was GREAT, and the picture quality was enough for general/normal use. I did test the picture quality comparing with Logitech Webcam C260 with 3 MP and I decided to keep this one because I don't see any difference and this one is cheaper. I especially like the mini stand since I can adjust the position better than the clip type. My system is XP, SP3, 1.6 GHz, which is slightly below the stated specification, but still I have no problem with it. LOVE IT!

Overall I like this webcam. It does the job--my family can see me and my baby when we video chat. However, the picture might as well be black and white. I searched online for a solution and many other people have the same problem and there is no solution. Under "properties," "hue" "white balance" and "color enable" are all disabled and there is no way to adjust these settings, which seems to be the root of the problem. Ironically, I get the best color when we turn the lights very dim. If anyone has encountered this same problem and has a solution, I would love to hear it!

I spent $20 for this camera, and think I spent $20 too much.The picture quality is horrific, even under good lighting conditions the colors are continuously shifting.

I purchased this product for my sister so that we can video chat, since we don't live near each other. I also purchased this so that I can interact with my nephew, who is 9 months old.My sis said that it was really easy to set up, everything looks great on my side when I see the recording, and it works perfectly on Skype (even though the instructions urge you to use MS Messanger).We've been chatting every day since she received the web cam and it's so much fun to be able to watch my nephew change and grow from day to day.

This is the second lifecam I have purchased. I bought the first one at a local store and paid twice the price for it. This is a great webcam to use on the go. I use it for both business and personal skype calls and haven't had any problems. I really like that it is small and will clip to my laptop screen without obstructing it. I do recommend this product and two others that I know have bought it and are happy with the purchase.

i got defective one. when i contacted seller they said they are not able to find that item in their system and asked me to give right information. i did copy all information from that email which they sent me with the order confirmation number. if they can not find their own given information then what kind of right information they are asking me? i want to return that but they didnt treat me well. i have lost all my money. i will never ever come back to this site to buy anything. everything is garbage here. they better stop cheating with people.

The good part is:The picture quatlity is good.Sound quality is good.Has options that it can be used with laptop and with a destop since it comes with a stand.The bad part is:The software installation took more than half an hour.When using for more than an hour, the video goes off and displays a message "your camera is already in use" eventhough there is no other aplication using the wecam. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cam didnt work. So had to restart my laptop everytime it happens which is really a pain.This webcam is sleeping now.
