It feels like the joystick is a little sloppy in the dead center, but overall it's well built and feels good. I'm not so sure the software is all that good but I'm mostly going to use it with FSX and it works good in that.

If you are into flight simulator, this set makes the experience as real as you can get short of an actual plane. It does take up a bit more room than just having a joystick, but having the rudder pedals makes a big difference in allowing for realistic control of the plane. The force feedback in the joystick adds to the realism of the experience as well. It works well with Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Fit and finish is flawless. Has a really quality feel to it. The buttons, wheels, hats and switches all feel like good quality stuff. Everything fits in the box very compactly and I would guess that shipping damage may be a frequent complaint. Everything "feels" like premium grade. I really like the rudder pedals which I was worried would be weak. They are very sturdy. Nothing wrong with the external design I can see. Set-up was exactly as I expected. I ignored the CD that came with it and got the newest driver from the Logitech. I have the 64bit Version of Vista Ultimate. I experienced no problems with set-up. I was flying IL-2 within 30 minutes of the delivery of the thing. Standard HOTAS skills apply. Key mapping is tedious. You will have to map all games and sims. Force feedback works with gusto on the calibration app. It is pretty mild in game so far. I don't regret the purchase. I think this is an excellent first HOTAS/Pedals set. If anything changes in my opinion I will edit my review. Feel free to ask specific questions in comments.Cons so far: I can't seem to get enough travel with the rudder to match my old controller. I know It's a setting I am not seeing. Other than that, in just a few hours, I can't find anything to complain about. Note I purchased my set on Amazon. You know I have one. I have no agenda other than sharing info.##EDIT 10-22-2009 I am having a problem with the stick conflicting "in game" with my Microsoft sidewinder X6 keyboard. Chat is garbled.Macros will not work properly and it is a serious annoyance. The problem doesn't carry to a Saitek keyboard I have but I like my sidewinder. I have not found a workaround for this. I am also not likeing the .XML format for the HOTAS files.

One one hand, you're paying a pretty good sum. On the other, this thing is pretty freakin' awesome.I like: +the force feedback (jerky at times, and there is only feedback on the joystick), +the shape and feel of the controls, +the general craftsmanship.If I could tell past me to buy this or pass it up, I would say buy. It was worth it for me and my nerdy video game peripheral collection.I didn't like: -how long it took to set this thing up.

As a professional simulator engineer this system combines in one package the essential tools needed to fly fixed wing aircraft. The advertisements state that this system is good for all aircraft, I specialize in helicopters and would not use this system for them.Compared to other systems the price is well below the combined price of the competition. Having used all of the competing products at one time or another, Logitech got it right with this system. I missed the force feedback on my old flight stick and was actively looking for a true dual throttle when I found this system. The quality of this product is equal to the competition which says a lot considering the price. The serial connectors used to connect the pedals and the throttle to the flight stick were the perfect choice. Some reviews addressed this issue wanting each one USB instead. I personally like this feature because if I wanted to extend the length of the cables it's easy to with a db9 extender cable (not a serial extender cable, some connections are missing), try doing that with USB. Besides some computers have limited USB ports and you need only one USB port for the entire system. At least this will save the cost a USB hub. The only draw back to this system is the price of the initial purchase. However, the professional flight simmer can not fly with only one or two devices. To really enjoy the sensation of flight you need these three components, so save your money to get this system.

I've used a number of joysticks of various types in the past, but never a flight system. Talk about sensory overload with all the combinations of buttons on the joystick and the throttle. I followed advice of other reviewers and downloaded the drivers fresh from Logitech and went through the configuration process. I had no issues installing it onto a Vista ultimate 64bit system.I will second comments about wishing for some pre-configured profiles for popular games for this device. Perhaps having a support area where profiles can be uploaded by users that others can download. The quality of the g940 components seem to be very solid. The feedback in the joystick was noticeably different than other Logitech joysticks I've owned, in a positive manner.Speaking as someone who has played a fair amount of games, but only a few flight simulators, having the g940 makes a world of a difference. I'd like to say better, but I am so immersed in the newness of the pedals and rudder in addition to the typical joystick, that I have to say it is just so different. I'm enjoying it.Overall, seems to be a great product that I have just begun to grasp how to use... and that's fun for me.

Hey Man this Logitech G940 really works Great. Its the first time I,ve ever used a rudder peddle and you can really tell the difference in flying using them. I would say to anyone looking to buy a "throttle, joystick, and rudder pedal" system, this is the way to go. Thanks to Amazon for a GREAT price.

I have owned a CH Fighterstick, Throttle, and Pedals for one year and I am now going to throw them out if I cannot sell them, because after using the G940 for a week I WILL NEVER GO BACK to CH!The G940 stick is 10 times better than the CH fighterstick and the forcefeed back alone is worth the price of admission. I play IL2-1946 and Over Flanders Field and the force feedback is top notch! People boast that the CHs are the most accurate sticks you can buy, well this is no longer true.The G940 throttle is so much better than the CH Throttle as well. It has a more natural curve of motion, the buttons and dials are better layed out and it is way more comfortable to use.The G940 pedals are also ten times better than the ch pedals. The g940s are about an inch wider and use a more natural & realistic rocker range of motion than the CHs gimped forced linear range of motion.In short, the CH Products feel like toys compared to the G940. If you like simulators these are a must buy!Does anybody want to buy a used CH HOTAS setup that is in excellent condition?As I said, these are the best of the best (unless you spend $20,000 on a professional military grade HOTAS setup) and a must buy if you enjoy playing flight sims. These are to the flying games what the G27 is to the racing games...

I was really looking forward to using the new G940 and very excited about the features like a split throttle and force feedback.Sadly, after less than 1 month of very light use, the rudder and toe brake axes have near constant spiking, rendering the rudder pedals unusable. Logitech touted the contactless design of the pots but apparently they were only refering to the X & Y axes on the joystick.I generally do not post reviews of products (though I do read and appreciate them) but people need to know my experience with this poor quality offering from Logitech.In addition, Logitech's support is very slow - they promise an answer to online service requests within 24 hours, but I didn't receive an email response until about a week later, and then all the customer service rep asked for was the product information like model and serial number, which I had already provided in the online form (it was even contained in the text of the email respone to me).I am extremely disappointed with the G940 - I will keep updating this review with my service experience.

This is the first time I have used this type of a flight system, but I am really enjoying it. However, before the system is ready to use, there is quite a bit of set up required. I started by downloading the drivers to make sure I had all the updates, which was an easy process. Then, came the process of setting up the buttons on the throttle and joystick. This was time-consuming and fairly complex. It would be great if there were some pre-set profiles from which to choose that could be downloaded to save some of the set up time.Once I got everything set up, I did find both the joystick and the throttle easy to use. I had not used a system with pedals before, but once I got used to them, I thought they were fun and added to the realism of the flight simulation. I found all components - the joystick, throttle, and pedals, to be very responsive. I also liked the force feedback feature because it added to the realism of the experience.Overall, I wish the set-up process would have been easier, but I like the system a lot and do think it creates a realistic flight simulation experience.

This flight system from Logitech is first rate - the quality feels good, and the mechanics are amazing - at first you may think it's not that much, but once in a game and the force feedback kicks in, then it definitely takes on a real world quality - I do wish the feedback were a little more - in flight simulator x, the force feedback didn't seem as strong as I would have liked it to be - some say you can adjust that, but I haven't found it yet. The software did a great job of recognizing all the games that it can work with, and you can even download profiles for older games on the internet that were developed by logitech programmers. I have heard that games in the future will be able to take full advantage of the flight systems capabilities including custom lighting of the buttons, so this may be that the hardware is just waiting for the software to catch up with it.

I am not a professional pilot or hardcore flight sim player. As a intermediate skill player, the amount of controls can be overwhelming. The build quality is very nice and I had no software compatibility issues although the setup was quite rigorous. I wish some of the buttons were a bit more tactile and responsive. The force feedback feels as though it could be a little more powerful and less jerky. The four star review comes from the price. I find it hard to believe that this system can justify a nearly $300 dollar price tag. Maybe the hardcore flight sim players will disagree but that is out of my scope.

I really liked this, but expected more for the price. The software is ok, the stick, pedals, and throttle are constructed solid and sturdy. It is very user friendly I would recommend it.

I really like Logitech products; I've always found them easy to use, durable and reliable. So it was no surprise that the Flight System G940 was easy to assemble, a great diagram was included for this purpose, and the software was quick and easy to install. The setup included testing out the throttle, joystick, and foot pedals, which is useful to understanding what each does. Also, the online tutorial was fast and quick to show you the components many features and result of use. Out of the box setup, installation and ready for use was under 15 minutes for me as the novice user.

Once set up completely, the Logitech system is great. It has control and feed back, plus all the shortcut keys on the units themselves. I have played with mouse/keyboard and single joysticks before on flight simulators, but with this setup I have more control of the aircraft and less button searching.My only complaint so far is there is not auto set-up...having to configure the complete unit takes time. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to fully customize the controls, but a basic setup would be nice to get used to the controls first before reprogramming the units.

1. No tech support2. Forget force Feedback it useless3. Do not buy this HOTAS if you plan to use it with DCS Black Shark4. Joystick centering mech has a 20% error5. Stick very noisy. Sounds cheaply made6. Not supported very well by other gaming companies.7. Still waiting for a patch update for over a year.Need I same more...

I am very happy with this settup. There is one thing that I cannot seem to get working properly. That is the toe brakes. They seem to be on all the time if you select them as an axis in IL2 and FSX. I actually have one of the rotary axis selected for breaks now.

I purchased the G940 new. Looks great out of the box. The included software is very difficult to use for programming buttons and hats, and the documention is marginal. Once up and running, the stick was buzzy when centered. It seems the FF motors are very noisy, and the stick base gets VERY WARM. After a few minutes, the FF failed completely, and the stick goes limp, making flight control almost impossible. I'm packing it up now for a refund.
