- Very comfortable. I often wore these for hours and never had any comfort issues.
- Good battery life.
- ANC is pretty good. I was able to wear these while my wife watched TV and it cancelled out the noise.
- Quick connect bluetooth worked great on my laptop
Issues:
- About 6 months into owning them, I had to completely factory reset them to get them to be able to connect to any of my devices. After that I was able to connect to my laptop ok, but had intermittent issues connecting to my phone to use the app.
- firmware updates were hit or miss if the update would go through
- Volume is low compared to other ear buds
- Not all the time, but occasionally there would be a delay in the audio. When connecting another bluetooth headset and listening to the same content, a delay would no longer be present.
- 13 months into owning them (one month after the 12 month warranty expired), just by pulling one out of my ear, the right ear bud split in half along the seam of the 2 halves that is held together by adhesive. Never dropped or used in active situations, just using for my laptop at home. LG support is firm in that if its after the warranty at all that service is anywhere from $57-$160, which makes sense, but sucks as thats the same as new pair or far exceeds the cost. YMMV, but wanted to put it out there for any potential consideration.

There are several other reviews here that give detailed breakdowns of the technical aspects of the earbuds and even though the numbers tell you something about the buds, the final judgment has to be what they actually sound like to the user. As lightweight as these are, it is hard to imagine that they can produce both the volume and frequency spectrum that they have.
I do wish they came with a few more silicone tips in more sizes. The largest tips are just a tad too small for me, but they still offer a good seal and sound isolation. Aside from the passive isolation, the noise cancelling mode is excellent and is better than the ANC on my other buds.
I have only connected them to my smartphone and my laptop so far. The initial setup is a snap and MUCH faster than either of the other two buds I have had. They quickly connect to whichever device I want to use.
The battery life is fantastic and I have only gotten a low power warning once after a very long listening session. I didn't try the 5 minute in the case for an additional hour of use, but I am sure it would work as advertised.
The only nit I have to pick is the perfectly symmetric shape of the case. The case is small and convenient to carry in a pocket, but if you want to open it in low light conditions, it is hard to figure out which direction to hold the case to pull the top open. I may end up painting a white stripe on the top of the case at the edge on the top center of the lid.
I watched a lot of YouTube video reviews and demos of the LG earbuds before I finally placed my order and they meet or exceed all expectations I had. One of the deciding points for me in getting the more expensive FP9 instead of the FP8 earbuds is the ability to use the case as a Bluetooth link to devices that only have a headphone jack. If we ever get to travel again, I would much rather use these on flights than having to carry a wired earbud or use the cheap junk they give you on the aircraft. The fact that I sacrifice wireless charging is no big deal and a minor concession compared to the added ability of more universal uses.

The built-in noise cancelling feature is also a nice touch, as it helps to block out background noise and allow me to fully immerse myself in my music. Overall, I am very happy with the LG TONE Free earbuds and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a high-quality and convenient listening experience.

with that said, i like these LG's and i recognize certain shortcomings, but i'll give them Best In Class (under $100).
Pros:
excellent support...as soon as i charged them up and paired them with my phone the earbuds were updating and a link for the App (very good) popped up so you could d/l and install while the firmware was updating.
the App itself is very well designed, simple, and clear - which is good 'cuz these tiny earbuds have a lot of functionality.
SOUND QUALITY - very good.
the stereo imaging is fantastic, clarity and spaciousness rate outside the price range - at least 2x much.
simplicity of use rates very high as if you forgot the settings you can open the app and do it from there.
these are a really well balanced set of earbuds that will not fatigue your hearing or your ear canals with fantastic battery life.
CON:
the only quibble is the shortcoming in the deepest bass because of the (tiny) size of the earbuds which doesn't allow a big driver - but these weigh less and stay put while exercising (and you can forget they're in your ear, there's little weight in your ear canal) and some of the earbuds with really good bass can't say that.
EDIT:
... later the same day i decided to do 2 real world torture tests... i drove on the highway with the windows rolled down to Starbucks and waited in the store.
my settings were "natural" and light ANC.
on the freeway the noise was more than 6db (twice) lower to the point i'd need a real instrument to tell.
but highway noise was there if at "acceptable" levels though for a long drive it would be fatiguing.
so for a convertible or motorcycle start at the high ANC setting. but look for those flashing lights :0
at Starbucks ANC light however was amazingly effective.
on comfort & touch controls -
if you feel the need to fiddle with the headphones you will be frustrated by the sensitive touch control. the solution is very simple however - put on the next larger size of tips

Connected them to my iPhone, having installed the associated app, and great sound, great features.
BUT, there are limitations which are not, as far as I can see, documented anywhere.
1. You can only connect these two one bluetooth source at a time, so if you playing music on your laptop and then your phone rings, they cannot automatically switch.
2. You can run the app on your phone to adjust the EQ settings or ANC settings, BUT, when you connect to a different device these settings are lost. This means, having done the set up on my phone, whenever I connect to another device, laptop for example, all my settings are lost. What is more frustrating, and LG support just do not seem to understand this, there is no way on my Mac to set the EQ and ANC settings, so I am just stuck with the defaults. This is the same with my iPad as well, as for some reason the app although it connects to the earbuds via Bluetooth the app does not recognise they are connected. LG support did not even answer this part of my question. In terms of accessing the EQ settings for their earbuds, LG support told me that I needed to contact Apple about that! "but they are your earbuds that I am trying to update the settings for".
3. The LG Support is, in my opinion, distinctly lacking. They seem to have no appreciation that someone might want to use their earbuds for multiple devices and want to be able to update the settings, or at least keep the settings they saved for another devices. Very poor so I gave up with them as I was getting no where.
I so wanted to give these a higher rating as connected to my phone they are awesome. The ANC is fantastic, much to the frustration of my wife but it means I could not hear any of the noise from our next door neighbours builders which has been annoying me for weeks, but no more!
LG, please sort out the minor niggles and these could be an amazing product! But now I suspect most will opt for the more expensive AirPods pros because of their auto-switching between devices.

I loved my galaxy buds, and part of me was tempted to stick with what I know, but I'm glad I made the upgrade.
The Good: Sound quality is great - and a clear upgrade over the Galaxy buds and some other buds I've tried. The sound quality improvement is especially noticeable when connecting to my TV and using them for shows/movies. The App is great and allows for pretty good and easy customization options (the tap controls could be a little more customizable), and the EQ options are great. Noise canceling is on par with other modern in-ear buds I've tried. Battery life seems very solid so far. Range is great. The plug and play (case as a receiver) option is an AWESOME feature, and I fully expect other brands to start incorporating this. Fits snugly and does not slip.
The bad: Like so many in ear buds, the touch controls are awkwardly placed, and there isn't enough tactile feedback to know when you've hit the button. It's also way to easy to hit the button on accident. This is one area that the original galaxy buds excelled, and I miss that. I also still prefer the fit of the original Galaxy Buds and liked that they went a little bit further into my ear (I haven't had any issues with them slipping or falling, but mentally they just feel like they're going to. Hopefully I get used to this.) Like I mentioned above, I wish the touch controls were a little more customizable.
Overall, I think they're worth the money (at $140) and that they're quietly one of the best options out there without spending $250+

- They do NOT go all the way in your ear, rather sit just outside it.
- The FP5s are pretty comfortable, I've worn them for hours straight without pain. (All depends on the user)
- Passthrough works really well, it sounds like you are not wearing anything, however you do need the app to enable conversation mode.
- Bass: it's there, and powerful enough to feel with the bass boost profile active. However, not overpowering.
- Sound quality: On par with the Sony WF-1000XM3s, so pretty good.
- 3D sound stage: Mediocre, feels kind of like you are playing the music through a box, but it works I guess.
- NOISE CANCELATION is GOOD, but NOT the BEST, better than the $30 headphones, but no match for a set of **Sony WF-1000XM3s**. It won't make a crowd disappear without any music playing. However, anything that drones like HVAC, fans, road noise. Gone. You will not hear that stuff with noise cancelling on. (your mileage may vary)
***Now when you are playing music, the noise is gone. The noise cancellation in these really only makes it so that you don't have to destroy your ears to drown out a crowd.***
I play my music at about 40% volume with noise canceling on normally. I went to a convention and only had to turn it up to about 50% while in line waiting for registration. I tested it without noise canceling and had to turn the volume all the way up to 80% to only hear the music. That hurt too much- So I went back to using noise canceling.
--------
Final thoughts:
If you are looking for something that isn't too expensive, that has a name brand (I kindly request that all of the $30 competition leave the room) as in not $30 trash that breaks in like 2 months. I would go for these. It's priced in the mid-range, not trash, but also not $279 for the Sony's. They fill a pretty good niche. For sure more comfortable than that apple hard plastic airpods trash.
- Worth the buy at $80-90 if you want quality for cheap.

I can't give them that 5th star because the noise cancelation isn't nearly as good as what I've gotten used to from the Airpods but these little guys are too interesting to play second fiddle.
The fit in my ears is probably as close to perfect as I can expect to find, staying perfectly still until I decide to remove them (the Airpods have a great 'forget you're wearing them lightness' but I do have to shift those back into place on a regular basis). The sound quality isn't Aptx which would be nice but is still quite impressive with great track separation that's made me notice vocal dubs and sound queues in songs that I hadn't realized were there while listening with the Airpods. There are multiple presets for the EQ and the option to customize them yourself so finding a sound signature that you like shouldn't be too hard (I personally dig the Natural preset because it keeps the highs tame and clear while offering tight but thumpy bass). Lastly and the reason I got them are the connection options, with the game mode enabled latency gets cut low enough that you probably won't notice any unless you lean in and look specifically for it, both with the built in 3.5 dongle or other adapters that'll support LLC. The dongle does seem to have a slight crackle noise though that only be heard when there isn't any noise playing through the sound source which isn't a deal breaker but is another nitpick that kept these from a perfect score.
All in all, they're a great sounding pair of buds that stay in place and connect to just about anything with that 3.5 cable and at 130$ the super average noise cancelation is something I'm willing to forgive. :)

Now the problem, the build quality is bad. I bought these I'm July and the right ear bud fell apart for the first time in September. I glued it back together and it fell apart again in December. I typically bought Samsung buds but before these LG's, I decided to venture out and got a pair of $200 Klipsh ear buds. That was also a horrible experience due to connection issues with my phone and each other. So after 2 bad experiences, I just ordered the Samsung Buds 2 pro.
