Item was a little bigger than I thought, as "mini" doesn't really quite justify its size - it's about the standard size for La Cie. However, it's a great external drive and very simple to use.

I research everything to death before making a major purchase and while this was less than $100 and not really a major purchase monetarily, it will be my back up drive for my life, I mean my laptop! It is perfect. Thank you!

I'm in no way shape or form a high end user. I simply purchased this drive to backup art files on my laptop using Apple's time machine. It was simple and intuitive (I think that's Apple though, not the drive). Everything seems to work fine with no problems. It's exactly what I expected - a simple, easy, way to back up files without having to think about it.

External USB' cord is so loose. It didnt say it in the description but it is loos that i have to keep the cord to transfer my stuff. Not recommended

No more need for a million flash drives! One of these handles all my backups. I am a graphic designer with enormous files that need a lot of memory. This portable hard drive is small enough to even be carried around from place to place. Super!

In love with the Lacie Rugged Mini.Quick and easy to set up and start saving and transferring.I did a couple of 20GB transfers from different devices and the following is how long they take:-- 5 minutes on a USB 2.0- a little over a minute with USB 3.0*works on my PC (windows 7)*works on my Imac (OS Mountain Lion)Now I'm going to get a lacie rugged triple.

This is a great little unit, although I'm on my second drive after a warranty replacement. The USB 3.0 connector to the drive is very flimsy, and failed completely on the drive about 8 months after I bought it. Lacie sent me a replacement under warranty (luckily the data was backed up) but I have to be careful to set the second one on my desk at work just so, so the cable makes a good connection to the drive. I would absolutely love the drive if they'd come up with a sturdier USB 3.0 connector.

Fast ship. Arrived in excellent condition. Great product. Software loaded on laptop computer without a hitch. Backed up all data easily, and no problems loading onto other devices. Second LaCie product I have purchased because they consistently work.

This drive is slim, light, fast, and very durable. Lacie keeps making them smaller and lighter! USB 3.0 is faster than Firewire, even in a USB 2.0 port. Great for travelling as it doesn't have an external power cord.

The product is great.. a little heavy with the rubber, but it's totally protected. Pretty fast drive. I opted for the lesser gig version so that I could get the 7200 speed. Not sure how quick the 5400 is, but I just transfered 250 gigs, was fast enough for me, being the hefty amount of gig being transfered. For transferring stuff under 10 gigs, it's a very decent speed. It's working great so far, haven't tested it on the road, but I have faith, it feels very solid.I have a macbook pro and on the set up of this drive they give an option to partition it so that you can read and write for both mac and pc. They only allow 33 gigs for this partition, but this is fine for what I need, and I like that that was an option. I was going to get a 3rd party app to read and write for both mac and pc for the whole drive but now I don't think I need to.

Pretty good product. Super easy set-up program that lets you designate partitions, or format it to one OS or another. Easy to format without the set-up. Using as a time-machine back-up, and so far, so good!

I purchased this when I got my new MacBook Air after a lot of indecision and it has worked excellently. I was able to back up all the files from my Windows computer and put them on MBA with no problems what so ever. The seller was very prompt and the product was very well priced and arrived on time.

I travel a lot for work, so I need to make sure all my files are backed up and safe. I take this drive with me when I travel - it's pretty rugged, and it's password protected - so I feel pretty safe when I have all my files on it!
