HUAWEI Band 6?

Just a shame that you can't add more standard activities for people who DON'T go to the gym (e.g. household chores, gardening, dog-walking, etc.). It's not just kick-boxing, gym-visiting, marathon-running cyclists and fitness fanatics who want to monitor their heart-rate, daily activities, sleep patterns, etc.
it's basic but it works - at this price you can't go wrong.
I'm comparing this to my Garmin Vivofit. I've been using this about a week now.
The Huawei band has a much better screen, data visualization, and more advanced features/sensors. The only thing it's missing is GPS, but usually I have my phone with me when I run. The Garmin GPS function was really slow to connect anyway (sometimes needing 15 min to establish a connection), so I don't miss it. I do like the Huawei oxygen monitoring, as it shows your VO2 max during workouts and can show if you have breathing problems when you sleep. Heartbeat monitor works fine and the step counter seems decently accurate.
I think the Garmin was a bit more comfy to wear, but I like that this band feels/looks a bit like a smartwatch. I didn't go for the Huawei Fit Watch (bit more wide) as I think this size is really the sweet spot for something you want to wear out and wear while you're sleeping. There are some pretty sleek-looking free watch faces to use (amongst a ton of really ugly ones).
Battery life is excellent. I'm at about 60% battery after nearly a week, and that was only on a charge of 85%. I've taken it out for one long run and a few short runs. I think this is because the screen is off most of the time.
Overall I think the Huawei Fit app is more advanced than Garmin Connect. It has more helpful tips and insights from the data, like showing how your sleep levels compare to other users. There are some cool videos it can make after a run to show your route as a video and share to Instagram, if that's your jam. The only bummer is that it doesn't connect to Strava. And you basically have to give Huawei access to every part of your phone for it to work (photo, video, storage, contacts, etc).
For the price of £40 on sale, this thing is a bargain. Impressive tech, good battery, and looks nice. I'd recommend it.
I then went many years without one when Pebble was bought out by Garmin.
I never had much interest in a fitness band till recently. I wanted to specifically monitor my stress, which I felt might be getting to me a little bit.
So whilst shopping around, I came across this band. It fits the bill perfectly...
It allowed me to monitor my stress, my steps, sleep and ALSO do all the things my old Pebble used to be in terms of notications.
I nice touch is that I can also control my music playlist through it.
Now, it's not perfect, no smart watch at this price level is going to be.
The music control for example, you'd expect that screen to be always on when you have music on to easily control. However it defaults to the clock and then it's a little fiddly to scroll through all the screens to get to it.
The screen wake isn't great and a little hit and miss. If you then want to force it because you need to know the time, you hit the button and that takes you to a menu, which you want clear away easily.
However, I am not picking for a device of this price!
It feels quality, the sensors are great. The app is better than most others.
But let's not forget this watches key feature... Battery life.
It last AGES! I was genuinely surprised the other day when it told me it had 5% batter left just because it's so rare to see that.
Great everyday device that I don't have to worry about too much getting banged about.
I've had mine for 6 months and it looks new.
Love it. Would recommend!
Pros:
Easy to use.
Steps, heart rate, swimming ect accurate.
Love the graph representation.
Lovely screen and I can finally see it in the sunlight.
You can use a custom photo as your watch face.
Cons:
Its very grumpy with the syncing to the app. Needs an update to sort that out.
Steps on the watch doesn't represent the steps in the app. Which is a bit odd.
Sedentary alarm doesn't always work.
A bit big for my wrist..
Notification buzzer isn't very strong.
All in all I'm very pleased with it despite its flaws.
I have used other fitness watches before this, my only prob with this watch is the battery life, i use this watch 6days a week and the battery last exactly one week, other ones i have used last as long as one month or more before going down. Apart from the battery life issue the watch is a fantastic.
The heart monitor on my fitbit versa 2 stopped working in October after 18 months (which I've since found out they do when you do an update, so you need a new one!)
I bought a cheap, unknown brand watch to replace but couldn't get the app to work or the phone to sync (amazing reviews on amazon, rubbish reviews on the app store so worth checking both when you buy). I returned and then saw this as a prime deal for £28 and had heard of Huawei. (If you're paranoid that the Chinese government are going to track your heart rate or your WhatsApps between you and your partner about what you're having for tea then maybe its not for you, I personally don't believe they do hence buying it!)
The app was easy to download. I set up an email address and added my phone number, presumably so they can pull through texts and calls to the watch.
The phone offers so much more than my fit bit did inc; stress levels, blood oxygen monitoring and the sleep monitoring is better than that on the fitbit.
I have a St John Ambulance heart and blood oxygen monitor and have measured a few times whilst wearing the watch to check the accuracy and both the watch and monitor were aligned every time.
The stress test does seem a bit gimmicky but having had a very stressful hour, it accurately picked up on this which is impressive.
There are numerous faces that you can choose from and what is also helpful is by clicking on an area on the watch face, it takes you to that section. Ie. If I click on the heart rate, it takes me to the heart monitor which is really good for a cheap watch!
Its got breathing exercises and a really good torch too. The find my phone option is great and the vibrations for alerts and alarms are strong and can be changed.
You can also control your music.
There's exercise tracking/workout records and a function that reminds you to get up and move every hour.
The app seems very detailed and elaborates on all of the infi/functions on the watch ie. The watch will tell us how long you were asleep/napping for, the app goes in to loads of detail and shows when you were in REM/awake/light sleep etc and sleep quality.
4 days in so it's still early days for me but so far so good. Very impressed and would never spend £200 on a fancy brand watch again when I can get so much more for 28 quid!
For the cost, this is a good timepiece and satisfies all my requirements. I tend to wear two watches all the time, one on each wrist and find the readings on this for heart rate and sleep patterns are similar to other brands of watches I wear. Use this one for work as it is not too expensive to replace if it gets damaged in the work environment. (Brought at a lower price in Prime sale)
