Fast black/white printing.
Recommend for Fast and clear black/white printing.

Reliable, good value
The HP LaserJet Pro M118dw is a basic laser printer which prints in black and white, which is ideal for most day to day needs. Being made by HP, it benefits from their excellent software, design and set-up, which makes the printer a breeze to use.
The M118dw is a little larger than the mono laser printer it is replacing, but sits nicely on my desk nonetheless. It feels well made and should last quite a long time. Although I haven’t had any paper jams yet, the multiple access panels should make it easy to retrieve anything stuck mid-print inside the device. Changing the drum is easy and the instructions are thorough and clear.
Set-up consists of deciding whether to connect via cable or wirelessly. I initially set up the printer via wireless, and it connected without issue. Unlike other printers, the wireless printing feature is reliable and I have not experienced any disconnections despite daily use. As with other HP printers I have used recently, it was quick and simple to connect, and does not install too much bloatware to your computer. My Windows 10 tablet connected by cable without any additional software being installed, and it was up and working in seconds. I really like the ability to email files to the printer, meaning I can print files from work and have them ready and waiting when I get home. Beautifully simple. The HP Android app works perfectly too which is a lovely bonus.
In operation, the M118dw is quick and quiet. I like being able to print double sided, as this makes printing larger documents quicker and saves paper too. This is a surprising addition for a printer at this price point, as many only print one sided.
The printer comes with the ability to print 1,000 pages out of the box which is reasonable. Ongoing running costs are good too, in line with industry standards.
Overall I think this is an excellent, low cost laser printer. It feels well made, and comes with a well refined setup process, and has worked reliably.
