Anyway, upgraded to two portrait monitors for side by side use. Set up was very easy (as long as your device has two video ports). 13 years of technology is certainly amazing! These are both beautiful monitors with the next level of resolution compared to my last monitor.
I use them for work. So email, web applications and now more and more web meetings. No gaming. I am very pleased with the speakers on these monitors (only one works at a time as the desktop is expanded. But HP if you are reading this- that would be a great feature). With my old HP monitor the speaker was just a touch too low turned all the way up, so I used an external speaker plugged in. The new speakers are strong enough that I do not have to use an external speaker (but still prefer an external speaker for webinars).
What a great upgrade. If you use a portrait monitor I highly encourage you to get two to use side by side (expand your desk top). I am amazed how helpful it is to see two documents side by side, or a document and webpage at the same time. Really helps to have two applications open side by side.
I paid $125 per monitor. And amazingly 13 years ago I paid $125 on a refurb deal from Amazon for my old one.
Buy 2, you can’t go wrong!

As noted by previous reviewers, the monitor's internal speakers are not going to "wow" anyone. But I didn't expect this monitor to provide good speakers; I have a set of desktop speakers that switch with the KVM switch to the selected computer.

Overall- worth the money if you can use the speakers on your laptop or alternative bluetooth speakers.

The VESA mounting works exactly as it should. The borders are very thin, so if you have a multimonitor stand like me, that's a huge positive. The viewing angles are great. For ~$100, I'd consider this a good purchase.

Besides that I did notice one spot that has a color or tear, not sure what's its called. It's very small but I waited too long to notice a screen issue when I bought a laptop before, so I check now. I don't think it's worth sending it back, since it's not in the middle of the screen but I know I will now stare at it. I put it to 3 stars until I use it for a week or so.

However 1 of the 4 started shutting off randomly, requiring me to unplug the unit from power and hold the power switch to empty the charge in the system. Some days it would shut down 4 or 5 times and other times it would stay up for a day or two. Very undependable. I called the HP help desk a few times and they insisted that the issue must be with the video card or something other than the unit itself. I switched power supplies with one of the other monitors and the issue stayed with the monitor. HP help desk technician was sure that it was something in the PC. The problem persisted even after I replaced the aging GTX560 ti with a new Quadro.
Now that I am working from home, I need these two systems to work every day, all day. I feel silly that I did not push harder to have HP replace the unit when the issue first appeared. Now I have a big hunk of glass and plastic that I will have to pay to have recycled.

If your looking for a solid budget monitor id highly suggest this one! I would get the protection plan just in case as some reviews I've seen have later issues and I've only had mine for 2 months!
