It baffles me that this product is nearly $700. I have had two HP printers and both had malfunctions within the first month of purchase. In my experience both products were a waste of money due to their unreliability and malfunctions from the beginning of their product life. I would recommend purchasing a higher quality printer, even if it is a steeper price. Trust me, it would be worth it. Due to the size of this printer it is very limited in its functions as well.

i wish there had been more negative reviews of this product before I bought mine. I wanted a large format photo printer and the ones in the running for my budget were this and an Epson. I already had an Epson inkjet that did pretty good quality prints, but I liked that with HP each cartridge could be replaced separately - unlike Epson - and the reviews on this were pretty good so I bought it.What a pain! HP wants you to buy all their products so they have set this up to "read" their paper and their ink only. So no matter that I prefer other types of paper, if I try to use it, I often get messages that there is no paper in the printer, the wrong kind of paper is in the printer, or it jams. And the ink - well, if you don't buy their ink cartridges, the ink won't register as being refilled. Even when I have used their paper and ink, the print quality is not as I would like it. The colors often come out not very well blended so the reds look garish and the blues are not as blue as they should be. In addition, it's not that easy to override the standard page settings if you want to print something that's not a "normal" size. I have been very disappointed with this, but as others have said, if you put ink in it, the policy of the sellers is that you can't return it. I have yet to be able to print a 13x19 print. I have to keep fooling around with the ink cartridges as they don't hold very much ink even if you get the XL size. And a lot of ink is wasted each time you try to print to get the print quality right. It's not very user friendly if you want to do anything that does not fall into the parameters of what HP wants you to do with their printers. I have spent more time trying to tweak this stupid printer than i have actually printing anything on it. I use my Epson instead because the quality is better and the software for it allows me to very easily create my own custom sizes. So if I could give this no stars I would. It has been a huge waste of money since I haven't been able to use it for what I bought it for - to print 13x19 prints. Some of the negative reviews allude to all of these things, but unfortunately, when I bought my printer, there were mostly positive reviews. I would not have gotten this printer if I had known.Since initially writing this review, I have been able to print 13x19 and the quality is pretty good - as long as I don't use HP products. I have figured out how to override the HP parameters, but I would not change my original rating. This is not an easy to figure out printer and it still jams paper quite frequently causing me to waste a lot of paper. That happens whether I use HP paper or not. I find I don't do as much creatively with this printer as I had hoped because it's such a pain to use. Possibly looking into something else, but money is tight and it ticks me off to have already paid for this and have it not work very well.

Much like HP's short lived move into the tablet world, this printer is half baked and a total waste of my money. I was suckered by the "free tablet" and sleek look, but the back of my mind told me not to buy the first generation of anything. Which is sad really, because HP printers are usually quite good. I am at the point where I will probably send this new printer to the landfill after the carts are out.It prints quite nicely and the scanning function is ok (if slow and the software isn't intuitive), but the tablet is useless with no apps and never keeps connection with the printer (even when docked). While we are on the subject, the tablet doesn't even turn on anymore; and I don't even care. The printer keeps dropping connectivity with the wireless network and doesn't easily come back with a reboot of the printer, so the basic funtion of printing is broken. Bottom line, HP sent (I wouldn't even call this a BETA) these units to test on the general public. No patches have been released to fix the problems for this unit, and with the death of their tablet line, I doubt it will ever come. So in summary, DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE UNITS!!!Will I buy another HP printer, well, I guess I'll have to? Looking at other commercial printers, the Lexmarks are unreliable and slow (I've purchased a couple for work), the Epson units are ink hogs and haven't worked too much with Cannon. I have bought HP Color and Standard Laserjets for the office and have minimal problems with them. So from the heap, HP in general rises to the top, but they are losing focus on putting out a good product.

I am a serious amateur photographer, and I was looking for a Vista-compatible photo printer that would handle many different photo sizes. After considerable research, I selected the HP B8550. My impressions are as follows.1. Vista compatibility and installation. Unlike many earlier Hewlett-Packard printers, this printer works perfectly with Windows Vista. I am not a software engineer, but it is my observation that there is something very different about Vista with respect to printer drivers, and if a given printer was not designed for Vista, the user must be careful. I specifically selected this printer because its specifications include Vista compatibility. (Earlier HP printers that were released prior to the existence of Vista are problematic as far as whether they work well, or at all, with Vista.) I have installed the printer on both my Vista notebook computer and my Windows XP desktop, and the installation processes were identical. I installed the printer first using a USB cable, but then immediately substituted the USB cable with the optional Bluetooth adaptor for both my XP and Vista computers. The result is a nice wireless installation on both my Vista and XP workstations. You do need the setup disk to set the printer up, either on Vista or XP. I recommend doing so by following the instructions, and inserting the USB cable when directed. After this process is complete (and not before) that is the time to insert the Bluetooth adaptor and set the printer up for Bluetooth if that is your intention. The Bluetooth installation is quick and easy, and the Bluetooth capability works great with this printer. Although I have not done precise tests, it appeared to me that printing using Bluetooth was just as fast as printing using a USB cable.I really like the print menus for the latest HP Printers including this one. It is very easy to set up a quick custom setting for printing a favorite format (example-- 4x6 media, landscape, best quality). This takes a lot of work, and possible error, out of printing. While I agree with other reviewers who have given HP less-than-stellar grades for their software, the software with this printer seems to be reasonably good, and better than HP software that I have used with other HP printers. It keeps me abreast of the ink cartridge levels and otherwise seems to stay out of the way. Too often, HP printer software has constituted "bloatware" that I eventually removed from my computer. Or it has had Vista compatibility issues. So far I have no complaints with the software that came with this printer.2. Hardware. The hardware on this printer is really nice, although the paper feeding scheme is less than fully intuitive until you read the manual. The smaller media goes in the upper tray (5x7 and 4x6 paper) and the larger media goes in the bottom (main) tray. Everything justifies to the right, with the paper guide on the left. Follow these rules and you won't go wrong.Because I initially fed the paper in incorrectly (having ignored the manual) I had the opportunity to clear a paper jam. This is easy to do with this printer--there is a snap-off panel on the back that makes it easy to remove a sheet of jammed paper. The ink cartridges are easy to insert, and in fact the whole printer is very intuitive as far as taking it out of the box and setting it up is concerned. The LCD display on this printers, and its built-in menus, are the best that I have seen for any printer. It really is possible to effectively select and print photos directly from this printer without using a computer. The LCD display is large, bright, and gorgeous, and it is very intuitive use with the cursor control. Further, the LCD screen provides detailed help and setup menus that really are, in fact, helpful and complete. I was immediately impressed by the fact that the printer wanted to help me set it up and did so effectively.3. Photo Quality. Fantastic. Lab Quality. Gorgeous. I doubt that I will ever again send photos to a lab for any reason (unless I am printing something poster-size.) While you can buy other printers that supposedly provide higher quality prints than this printer, all I can say is that I am pretty fussy about my prints (what is the point of using good equipment and taking care to take good pictures if the printer does not do them justice?) and I am completely satisfied with the quality that this printer puts out. The detail and color rendition of my best photographs, as printed on the B8550, is nothing short of stunning. For serious amateurs, and possibly professionals, this printer provides superb quality that only the very most expensive printers will (possibly) surpass. The Vivera inks are quality stuff. If you will let the prints sit in the output tray for a couple of minutes, you will have a nice dry print that will not smear and will not fade. I am sold on HP Vivera printer inks.

THIS PRINTER IS GREAT, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. This printer can Print,Fax,Scan,Copy,Web. Right now I am recovering from foot surgery so I like the fact that I can have my laptop in one room & my printer in the other room. Having a Fax is helpful for me now that it is a real pain to get out of the house, so having a Fax lets me send forms back & forth to work & my Doctors. HP uses eFax Fax service when you receive this printer you are allowed to send & receive up to 20 Faxes per month for free , if you are going to send more than that you have to sign up for a eFax paid service. The Scanner & Copier are fantastic & they work great. The Tablet works almost like a smaller version of the iPad, It can get Email Facebook & you can print just about everything. Most of the Print Apps are more geared for kids but they also have Apps that will give Weather, Movie Times/Tickets etc.. I like the fact that it has two paper trays one for 8"-10" paper & one for photo paper. The printer is completly wireless the one wire that is coming out of the back of the printer the other end of it is going into the outlet. Setup was so easy the printer did most of the work just plug it in turn it on follow the steps on the screen & when it tells you to install the software on you computer. Eprint & Airprint are awesome, Every printer has their own email address all you have to do is just compose a Email put the printers Email in the address bar & whatever you want to print just cut & paste the link to the Email send it & it will be waiting for you when you get home from work or vacation whatever. You can send print jobs to your printer from anywhere in the world, it can be from you laptop or from your smartphone. Airprint lets you print from almost any apple product ie iPod touch, iPhone & the iPad. Print quality is great, print speed is super fast. What I would recomend you do is stock up on ink & buy the extra large ones so they will last longer.Hope this was helpful.

I would highly recommend the eStation for the current price that is available (do some research as this can be had for about $250). The printer is top-notch (a little bit noisey, but not too bad) and the Zeen Tablet is great. It has great battery life and a great build-quality (with a glass screen and rubberized body). Don't listen to the comments of people that just don't know how to use an Android Tablet. Some reviews I've read suggest that this tablet can only be used indoors on the same network as the printer...NOT TRUE, this is a tablet that has all of the same functionality as any Android 2.1 Tablet (plus all of the ePrint functions that you won't find on any other device) with the exception of the official Google Marketplace. To me, this is not a big deal as there are so many other ways to install Android Apps (alternate Markets, side-loading or direct downloads from the web). Some people have also complained about the Tablet being slow or laggy. This is not uncommon for any Android Tablet (with the possible exception of the Tegra2 processor Tablets) as there are many things that can be running in the background. The simple fix is to install a Task-Killer app that will shut down unused programs that are still running in the background. I would also recommend the purchase of the external power adapter/charger so that you can travel with the Zeen Tablet and not have to worry about losing power. I have over 100 working apps on the Zeen and counting. It plays all my music, videos, downloads YouTube videos, opens and edits Office documents, email, multiple web-browsers, etc. Unless you need a device that has 3G, you won't need anything else in a tablet. The way I look at it, I paid less than $250 for a great Tablet and got a great FREE wifi-enabled printer. Oh, and one more thing, for those that have complained that they don't like the HP User-Interface as opposed to the standard Android UI, why not just install a Home-Screen replacement app like LauncherPro that way you can make your Zeen tablet look like every other Android device?UPDADE: 3/18/11:HP just released their Beta Program for Android Froyo 2.2. I updated the device yesterday and now have 2.2, so now my Zeen Tablet is Flash 10.1 capable!

Using this printer was as easy as docking the zeen, turning it on and waiting for it to load. As long as you see life in the zeen, it's working. It will ask a few simple questions and you're good to go. Everything works quietly and perfectly. Just need to load paper. There were no problems. The zeen is a touchscreen. After six not-so-perfect printers, I finally have one that delivers as promised. Couldn't like it more. Everything worked on the first try and copies are beautiful. Ink is cheap. Double-sided printing is great. No complaints. Highly recommend.

This unit has a mind of its own. Disconnects from the network for no apparent reason. As for the Zeen, that is the biggest piece of junk. It too disconnects and they one has to play for an hour to get it back on the internet. My other HP printers work wirelessly, but not this one. HP should have done some better testing before selling this piece of junk. When it works it is great, but that is seldom. I would give it zero stars, but that is not an option. No wonder HP got out of the tablet business, the zeen is nothing but junk. Also, one can not get rid of the sample pictures, so you are stuck with looking at HP's choice of photos. Instead of releasing new printers on a monthly basis, HP should perfect something that works. Bottom line is do not buy an eprint printer from HP until they get their act and service in order.

i got this printer for a steal a year ago for $115. I had a Canon pixma iP5000 for about 5 years and it was just dying a slow death and needed to be replaced. It had gone above and beyond my expectations, so I had no qualms about putting it to rest. I really wanted a large-format, and I saw this deal and snapped it up. yes, it's big. yes, it's loud. but I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is prints that aren't at ALL close to what I'm seeing onscreen.Yes, I know as a photographer I should be looking beyond the 5-ink-tank system, but my Canon was 5 tanks and it worked beautifully and output perfect prints every time. From the getgo the HP's prints were overly reddish/magenta and overly dark compared to what I saw on-screen. I chalked it up to not using HP paper, so I edited my photos to compensate (somewhat) until I used what was left of my Kodak photo paper that I was using with my Canon. Of course this causes me to run out abour 5 prints before getting one that's somewhat acceptable. What a waste of supplies and money!!Well, i spent boatloads on the HP premium paper, 8.5x11, 5x7 & 13x19 sizes. In addition, I've had to replace the ink tanks 3 times in a year, so that's another $60 a pop (I look for ink deals on Amazon). So, using HP inks and HP paper, this printer STILL does not print what I see on-screen. I have to severely compensate in my photos by lightening them and making them extremely cyan-ish. I have tried converting my photos to every printer profile known to man and still nothing works. It's like throwing my money to the wind and watching it fly down the street. Finally I emailed HP support. I am about fed-up to here with them also. I've been going back and forth with them for almost a month. They've had me clean my printheads and align them (like i hadn't thought of that??), reset the printer, delete my printer settings from my system and making a new printer, calibrate my monitor without anything to calibrate it to, print from a different application, and print from a different log-in account. When I got an email from them telling me to once again clean my printheads, I asked, "But I've already done that for you - you want me to do it AGAIN?"The latest is they're apparently assigning my file to the next department up and will contact me in 3-4 business days. That was a week and a half ago.I'm ready to chuck this thing out the window and buy the Canon ip4820. Screw large-format; I will wait til I have funds to buy the ultra-awesome large formats and stick with a piddly 8.5x11 printer that prints what I see for now.

To be honest, this should be a 4.5 star review in light of some software issues, but the printer does such a fantastic job that I thought I should round the stars UP rather than down. I'm truly thrilled with this printer, and that's that. If only HP could streamline their software, this would be a full 5 star review.I've printed at least 2 dozen prints -- 4x6, 5x7, 8.5x11, HP paper, Epson paper, Staples paper, etc. -- and I have great difficulty determining that ANY of these did not come from a professional photo lab. In fact, I'd told a friend that I'd received this great printer, and when I presented him with a gorgeous 5x7 of a group of us, he asked me where I went to have my photo developed! The output is THAT good. The only output complaint I have is that every once in a while one gets some very shallow linear scratches to the glossy finish, but they are so incredibly small, you have to hold up the photos to a light at a specific angle. This is being very picky, and it's truly a NON-ISSUE for me.Some have claimed to have had problems with ink drying time, but I have not: prints are dry within 15-30 seconds, though I do let them sit for a minute or two just in case. I tried smearing the "wet" ink on one after 10 seconds, and there was no smearing, so, if one uses HP Advanced Photo paper, or any of the premium glossy papers I've tried, I do not forsee any such problems. My biggest problems in terms of print output are of the software variety. I have not been able to determine whether this is an HP or a Corel issue (on the computer I have connected this printer to, I use either Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 or Jasc PSP 9, which is the basis for the Corel software, since Corel bought out Jasc and built their PSP series on this Jasc platform), but there are some differences in inch standards between these software packages and the HP printer software: I can edit pictures to print to a standard paper size (let's say 5x7 here) and crop photos to either those exact dimensions or at least to preserve that particular aspect ratio, but when I then send the photo to this printer via the HP software, the preview shows gaps along the "borderless" photo preview on both of either the 5" or 7" sides. This is true of 4x6" photos as well. I have not been able to figure out which software is to blame for having dubious "inches," but I've created a work-around that I've found totally satisfying...I do edit ALL photos I take with photo editing software before printing, so what I do to work around this problem is create the output crop to be a 5.1"x7.1" (aspect ratio preserved) photo. Then, I save the file to a SD/SDHC card, stick it into the printer directly, and then the photo is centered on the printer's preview screen, and it prints perfectly along ALL borders. I know that this is not perhaps the solution a professional photographer would like, but for a amateur photographer like me who does some not-so-amateur digital photo processing, the output is astounding, and this workaround is not a significant problem.I would be remiss, though, if I did not refer you to the truly exhaustive technical review on the sub-par HP software that the reviewer named "Bond... James Bond '007.5'" wrote. It points out some software glitches and the resource-hog multi-process problems that do exist with the bundled HP software. As far as I've seen, all he writes is accurate. The issues are slightly different with the Vista 64-bit OS I'm using, but the differences are not significant enough to enumerate. One bug that I have also found is in HP's attempt to load its "HP Smart Web Printing 4.0" into all browsers. It is not compatible with Firefox 3.0.4, and it's fairly easy to disable there; however, reading the problems "Bond" experienced trying to uninstall it from IE, I'm not looking forward to that operation. The printer software interface is not all that user-friendly either. I'm used to Epson's multi-tabbed affairs that have literally pages of options. HP seems at first to have the same approach, but, actually, some, but not all (!!!) of the tabs are mutually-exclusive: whichever tab you print from will be the set of options chosen. So, if you think you've set one option on one tab and move to another and print from it, that other tab's setting may have just been negated. This will take some getting used to, and I can't pretend I quite comprehend this interface yet, but I've simply been bypassing it by saving my edited photos to SDHC cards and printing them directly from the printer with WONDERFUL results. These praises and complaints I've noted in my experience with this printer and its software are typical of what I've experienced with HP in the past (I am writing this on an HP Pavilion Media Center m8430f, so I know what I'm talking about) is that HP hardware tech is formidable and wonderful stuff -- but their software? Not so much. Very much resource-hogging, non-necessary stuff that drags down your system and creates q

I didn't buy this product from Amazon, but I want to warn anyone who's thinking of buying it. For scanning it's okay, but printing efficiency is spotty. Photo printing, even on HP paper, is terrible; I just have to do a regular-paper print, even though I'm using photo paper, and ignore all those supposed photo settings that are supposed to give you such great photo-finish prints. And the printer often disconnects from the wireless router, or fails to connect in the first place, and the only way I can get it back is to do a time-consuming cold reboot of the whole system. There are no instructions in how to reestablish the wireless connection when it's lost, and HP does not respond to online requests for help. This printer was so expensive that replacing it is not an option; I have no choice but to try to work with it as best I can.And that stupid "Zeen". It looks really spiffy and all, but I still don't understand what it's even there for. The hard-copy instructions are bare-bones, and the software "manual" is poorly indexed and uninformative. The simplest questions get irrelevant, unhelpful "answers".All in all, a rotten product. Lots of bells and whistles but no plain-English explanation of how to operate it, or even what the bells and whistles signify. This may be the worst product HP has ever released. DON'T buy it.

I've had this printer for over four years and have had no major problems with it, ever. It even survived an international move to Costa Rica with no glitches. I am surprised that other people experienced so much trouble. There have been a few paper jams, but only a handful in the four + years that it's been in my house. I think all printers experience that problem, so I can't even complain about it.The funny thing is that a small gecko has been using mine as a hiding space and it's STILL functioning. No matter what I do, I can't catch the gecko or scare him away. But the printer has all of the features I was looking for at the time. The only additional feature I would want now is easier Bluetooth connecting. I never needed it before, but I'm pretty sure that you need to purchase an extra adapter, so I would look for a model that has that if it's really important to your needs.

HP Photosmart B8550 Inkjet Photo Printer (Electronics)I bought the HP B8550 printer after having used an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 for 6 years. I need an 13x19" printer for photos, renderings and line drawings, and also for some black and white documents.I bought the printer because it does not use as much desk space as its equivalent model from Epson. I VERY much regret this! The first 3 months the printer worked fine, although its noise level and ink use is definitely over the top. Also, it did not pick up fine lines in some of my line drawings. They were visible in the preview, but not in the print out. Irritating. It also repeatedly would not print, but give false error warnings, such as "print media doesn't match the indicated document size" with an array of flushing and bouncing icons on my desktop. Tons of unnecessary electronics in this machine, but no production. I often had to restart the printer and send everything to print a few times before it would print out. After I raced through 5 sets of cartridges in 3 months, the printer started to print blank pages for certain documents. It would print letters in black and grey, yet at the same time it would print (black and white) line drawings in pink or magenta only, or print nothing at all.Spending hours on the phone with HP hotline only had me buy more cartridges, which didn't change anything. They tried to convince me it was a "Mac" driver problem, but I had the same issues with the Windows side of my machine. The printer would print stripes or some pink lines or nothing at all. After an exhausting and costly struggle with this printer I am putting it on the street. It's useless.

I have always been told to use OEM cartridges, but I felt Amazon would check that the product worked ok.I just installed the cartridge and my printer is printing terribly. There are streaks and smudges everywhere. I will ask Amazon for a return authorization as soon as I get a chance. To call this product inferior is really an understatement,

Ужасно

This is the first time I have ordered from Amazon and I am very disaponted with the outcome. I took advantage of applying for amazon's credit card at the time or the order. I ordered a Hp deskjet 5740 color inkjet Printer from Jennababy on Dec 6, On the 30 of Dec I complained that I still have not recieved the printer, Jennababy wrote and said she had forgotten it and it was still in the trunk of her car and that she would send it the next day and send me the tracking. On Jan 6 I notified Jennababy that I still had not recieved the printer or the tracking information. She replied that it had been sent but had lost the paper work. Today is the 20th of Jan and I still do not have the printer. What is this, fraud? I have recieved the credit card bill due Feb 1st. I'm sure Jennababy has recieved her money. If I do not have the printer very soon I will notify the credit card.
