Machine gets used every day and is easy and simple to operate. Espresso machines are not silent when in use but this is rather quiet during all functions much more so than other machines.Cups 3 1/2 " tall fit easily underneath. Good crema,hot temperature. The water RESERVOIR is very handy at the front and easliy moves in and out to refill. A little difficult to remove the black plastic part of the Pannarello wand. Easy to get frothing pitcher underneath the wand, there is plenty of room. The drip tray has a magnet to hold the top in place and after pulling out the drip tray the machine is dry underneath. Easy and quick to clean by following the instructions.Good size for the kitchen counter.

I have had espresso machines for almost 30 years and drink mostly "lungo" (~90ml or about 3 shots from a filled double shot portafilter). Overall I am disappointed with this machine. I compare this machine to the least expensive espresso machine I've owned, a Starbucks "Barista" aka Saeco Via Vapora; that was a much better machine (it lasted 7 years) and I wish I could still buy them. The Saeco was as consistent and as well behaved and reliable as an old restaurant machine I'd had before that. The Saeco had the same automatic portafilter which I personally really like (I know the snobs say these don't work as well as proper grind and tamp) - take my word for it, it does and it is MUCH easier and more consistent than assuring the correct grind, the right measure of grounds, and a good 30 pound tamp every time; just measure and go!
The CONS:
This machine is so light you have to hold the machine to insert or remove the portafilter. The portafilter is almost identical to the Saeco but doesn't work as well; with the stock filter the first two shots give very poor crema (this is probably temperature related since later shots are better). The water tank won't hold enough water for my wife and I to make espresso for a day and it uses a lot of water for the rinse and a blank shot to get the portafilter hot enough. Another annoyance is you have to remove the drip tray every time you need to fill the water. The automatic off is nice in one way but cumbersome in that I can't run the machine from a timer. Because I can't run it from a timer and it shuts off, the cup warmer feature is useless and the portafilter is not hot enough for the first two espresso draws. It uses a "Rinse" feature to preheat the portafilter which helps to compensate for this but that only works the first shot and doesn't get the filter hot enough. This means our first shots are not as hot as we like and the crema is not as good. This becomes a real pain as we make two then go back 45 minutes later to make two more (one for each of us) and go through this all over again usually for three cups each. The lights and bells are cute but don't make the machine work any better. The instructions are poor especially for how to use the water tank and the rinse.

I like to machines appearance. The machine heats very quickly. The removable water tank - once you figure it out - is nice and easy to fill (which is a must because you do it a lot). If you are into cappuccino or latte' the steamer is fast, powerful and adequate to make a lot of steamed' milk.

This is the most expensive coffee machine I have ever bought. After I placed my order I started having second thoughts about should I have spent a little more for a different machine or saved money and got a less expensive one. Then it arrived and I unboxed it and started using it. I am so happy that this is the one I chose. The machine is solid and does a really good job.

Do not be impatient to pull your first espresso with this machine! You really do need to follow the instructions in the manual to set it up, prime the pump, and run several cups of water through it.
Once set up it operates very smoothly. The temperature / ready lights are easy to understand and it gets to temperature very quickly, even when pulling multiple shots. Also, I love the way it looks.
Only shortcoming: frothing the milk takes a bit more technique than my previous two machines. An easier "self-frothing" wand would be an inexpensive and worthwhile upgrade.

For three months this was a fantastic machine, I was really pleased. Then....nothing, machine died and won't turn on. After reading the Gaggia customer support horror stories, I figured all was lost. But Amazon agreed to replace even though it was past the 30 days. My hope is that the replacement lasts longer. Zero stars for the machine due to durability, five stars for Amazon for being understanding. So three stars overall.

After an extended stay in E. Europe, my wife and I were hooked on espresso. Upon returning home I searched for a reasonably priced unit that would fit in our already crowded kitchen, as well as make a great cup. I'm very happy with the Gaggia R18525/01 Carezza DeLuxe. I have used much simpler machines in the past with indifferent results, and after reading the instructions 3 times, a great cup of coffee/Americano/cappucino/caffe latte was a no-brainer. The steamer stem pulls off easily for cleaning. The foaming is effortless and barista quality (cold whole milk in a cold stainless steel pitcher). A larger water reservoir and a more thorough rinse cycle would earn 5 stars. Happy wife--happy life, with coffee.

Sometimes the error light comes on for no apparent reason and you have to fool with it.
The descale light came on after 5 weeks of use. Descaler is 14.00! The machine is very lightweight and moves around a lot on you.
Instructions are very poor.
Frother works well. This is my first espresso machine so what do I know. I love the drinks it makes but I wish it was more predictable in its functions.

Love this machine. Had to replace my trusty Saeco La Crema which was an absolute rock star espresso machine. The Gaggia is right alongside the performance of the Saeco. The foaming process is at least 80% quieter and very effective. It took a couple of weeks to "break in", i.e., learn how to use it properly. It is my new rock start expresso machine.

I have used espressos machines and this one takes a lot of effort, it’s hard to make hot coffee, and there is little that’s automated so you need to develop an understanding of a short pull vs long pull.

The Gaggia is the best for Expresso and cappuccino. It takes a bit to get the handle of the buttons but once you do its easy and all you need to do is enjoy the flavor. Quick delivery no hassles.
