Well made, easy to operate espresso maker. Does not require a separate tamping function. I would have given it 5 stars except the operator's manual is among the most poorly written I have ever seen. Not sure if it was just a lousy translation from Italian or if the writers simply don't know how to write in clear English. Either way, trash the manual and watch online videos on how to operate and maintain it.

I've owned several espresso machines including a La Pavoni and three Saeco machines. The Gaggia makes good coffee from my grinder, from ESE pods or from packaged espresso grind. The steamer is perfect for my wife's capuccini and my espresso is rich, full bodied and flavorful. I'd give it five stars if the water tank was large enough to support the rinse mode of the machine. It isn't. When rinse mode is turned on a lot of water is run through the portafilter. With two of us each drinking two cups per morning, we were running out of water constantly. We solved the problem by turning rinse mode off (one button push), but no longer have the benefit of preheating the portafilter.

I had a Gaggia Coffee that gave out after 15 years. I figured I should buy the same brand and this got decent reviews at a decent price. I may just need to get used to it, but for me the coffee was faster. This one has more bells and whistles though so that's nice. I hope I grow to love it as much as I did my old standby.
Update. About a month ago the descaling light came on. After descaling multiple times the light didn’t go out. I kept using it because well caffeine. It started flashing. I contacted customer support. They had me TAKE APART THE MACHINE. Really? Anyway I tried and it’s still not fixed. Hopefully it gets resolved. Awefully expensive for something that lasted less than 6 months 🤨

Expected more solid construction from Gaggia, materials feel cheap toylike.
I have only been using it for a month and it does the job, but I can’t say I’m satisfied.
The coffe holder has a pressure control system that is suposed to give you the right compactednes in the coffe without the nead of pressing down the grinded coffe. I don’t think it really does the same thing as appliing your own pressure.
The control buttons are activated by pushing them and they fill cheap. Hope they will last buy definitely a switch style buttons would have felt better.
Coffe is OK but not excelent. I haven’t been able to managge a creamy expresso although I have tried different coffe grinds and grinded my own.
Wouldn’t buy it again although I believe in the brand but choosed the wrong Gaggia model.

I was glad that I didn't buy this machine soon enough. I love how it's easy to use soon as you figure it out. The manual though it's not very friendly so I just looked up some videos on how to use this machine. I know how quick it gets ready for you and it makes the best espresso ever! now I don't know quality because I only have this for two weeks I will probably give another review after 6 months.

I bought this machine to replace an automatic expresso maker which died after 2 years. I am not a beginner barrista but this machine is easy to use and makes great coffee. The initial set up is relatively easy in spite of the instructions. The user guise is the only drawback to this machine. It is very poorly written and does not explain the purpose of priming the machine. Once you get past that the machine works so well and the coffee is so good that I don't know why I spent an extra $700 for an automatic expresso machine. The expresso is excellent and has a nice crema. The pannerello wand is the same that I had on my expensive model. It froths milk very well and is easy to use. The only difference is that I have to push a button to stop the coffee dispensing when my cup is full and that I have to grind my own coffee. I have purchased a MAVEA water filter and I recommend you use this to extend the life of your machine.The only caveat is to remember to fill the water tank after each use as it will only brew the equivalent of 2 cappuccinos at a time without needing to be re-filled. I have only had this machine for a short time but use it every day...we will see how the longevity on the product is but so far extremely pleased with the purchase and recommend to all.

My delonghi died after 6 years of hard use so thought I'd upgrade. This one is a waste of money. Couldn't even wrestle the filter handle in. Getting water tank in and out is not easy or convenient. Don't waste your time.

This machine is quirky; but what Italian espresso machine is not? This machine make real fine coffee. Fun to use it is animated and technical. I have used several different brands of regular coffee, decafs, and espresso grinds all with great results. After about a year the descale indicator lit up. Got some citric acid powder and was back to coffee production in short order. After 2 years the machine works perfectly without any problems. For the price ~$300 this is a very fine machine from a brand well known for espresso - Gaggia. I could not be happier.

My wife and I are loving this espresso machine, an early Xmas gift to ourselves. It's awesome, easy to use once you get the hang of it, and it makes fantastic espresso. The steamer for milk is also perfect, easy to use and clean. And it looks great in our kitchen.

Purchase the machine June 2019, broke September 2019. Waste of money. Gaggia
Customer service is the worst. Still waiting on them to get back to me regarding a repair.
Amazon was great managed to refund my money. Gaggia is gone gone. I went back to my breville.

Super nice machine in this price range. I primarily use it with ESE pods and every cup is perfection. Over the years I have owned several different brands from inexpensive to ridiculously expensive and this Gaggia is one of the best.

I used this machine for a week. The coffee grounds were spilling onto my counter. I was not able to stop this from happening. I burned my hand trying to clean up the coffee grounds. I would not reccomend this machine to anyone!

This machine has been just what I wanted and a great value. It does a great job with the espresso shots as well as frothing. The portafilter has the great option of removing the pressure valve and using it as a manual filter in a commercial style, which I have not done yet as I am getting really nice espresso. The frothing can be done with the Panarello type steamer or with it removed for, again, a more commercial style. The boiler works quickly and well, as does the pump. The two additional special features of the pre-rinse (you do have to pay attention to this and remember not to have the coffee in for that cycle, but you can override it), and also the pre-soak of your shot/s.
The general design of the machine is nice looking and very functional, down to spacing of various components and also the large drip tray. The water tank is front accessible and holds plenty of water. If you want a reasonably priced, nice quality machine that makes delicious coffee drinks, this is a great choice.
