Great, but use ASIO4all or you'll be annoyed for a very long time, trying to figure this thing out. Other than the software being crummy, it's really great. I like the glowing knobs that tell you when you're clipping.

Easily installed to my computer (Windows 7, 64bit)Performs just as specified.Great for starting out, has everything you need.Headphone amp is absolutely awesome with my Audio Technica's.If you're looking for an audio interface to start off with, go with something as reliable as this. Focusrite has had nothing but good critics, and you're getting more than what you pay for.

I've had this for about 2 or 3 months and have used it for some portable recording and for some quick stuff at home.Today I finally had a chance to test it vs. my old MBox 2 because I suspected something and my suspicions were confirmed: the headphone amp is much quieter than on other interfaces. I took the same session and set my master fader at the same level, and listened to the session with my Scarlett 2i2 and then closed and opened the session with my MBox 2 as the interface, and I could get about twice as much gain out of the headphones with the MBox 2.Why does this matter? Because when I'm recording, I like to turn up the headphones as loud as possible for a second to check for background noise and changes in tone/timbre while setting up mic positions.With the Scarlett, I simply can't get loud enough with acoustic instruments to be able to hear all the ambient noise and select the best mic position. So yeah, it's a good beginner interface. In my case, the cost was offset by the fact that now I have to get a headphone amp or something to boost the signal so I can still maintain my same workflow.

The basic setup is easy and once you find all the little buttons and have the drivers installed, it works great. Getting clean sound and good dynamic range out of it is easy as well. I'm still learning audio, so I don't know that this is the best, but for the price, it really can't be beat.

For me being a solo 12 string guitar and vocal act this works just fine for me. And you get the extra plugs ins supplied by Focusrite too with this interface. I cannot say I am wild about the included software which is Ableton Live Lite 8. I really disliked the screen views of Ableton and thought they were hard to view. So I did some scouting around and talked to a few techs and they suggested Mixcraft 6. WOW! I like a mixing board that is right up in my face and no guesswork. Mixcraft 6 is so user friendly and you don't have to bring in a professor from another planet to understand it. You can be laying down and recording tracks in no time. And shouldn't recording be fun and not frustrating besides? The Focusrite Interface recognized Mixcraft 6 as if it were an old school bud and the extra plug ins. So all and all it turned out great and I am a happy camper. This in my opinion is one of the best entry level Recording Audio Interface units around. It also has phantom power for those of you who have condenser mikes requiring phantom power. Dollar for dollar you cannot go wrong with this interface. Engineered in England. And on the downside, made in China. (Isn't everything these days?)

I absolutely love the Scarlett 2i2! and totally recommend this audio interface. it is very simple to install and very compatible plus the extras that it comes with to polish your audio is outstanding I use this interface with an iMac and Macbook Pro on Garageband and connect an MXL 990 not the best of microphones but it makes this mic sound so good, and it's so great that you can connect two microphones and record them both simultaneously I record a lot of vocals so that is good for me and once in a while I plug my guitar and microphone at the same time and this allows me to use both 3 pin XLR and 1/4'' male cables. so don't think about it too much get this interface it looks very professional and has all the inputs and buttons in the front and since it's made solid and out of metal it will last a while so you can carry it anywhere with ease it is fairly small and the scarlet color on it looks very good.

I'm a starter with recording who uses this for voice, using a MXL 990 mic and a Monster Standard 100 cable. I haven't used any other audio interfaces before, so I can't really do a comparison, but as a starter, I enjoy this interface very much. First of all, the sound that comes out of it is very good for the price, but one of the things I love most about this interface is that it is extremely easy to use. The layout is very easy understand and everything is put together in a way that makes it very easy to operate. It's build quality is excellent and very solid, too.I use the 2i2 on MacOS Lion, and it works fine with GarageBand. Sometimes, although Garageband is able to detect the interface when I connect it, it doesn't always detect the mic so I have to restart my computer to have the mic work with Garageband. I'm not quite sure how to use the plug-ins included with the interface or the trial recording software, but it's not a particularly big problem for me.Some other interface options that seem really good that are in the same price range include the Presonus AudioBox USB and the M-Audio FastTrack. I haven't tried any of these, but from my research they both seem like alternate options, especially the Presonus.

First off, this works wonderfully with my Windows 7 (64bit Home) laptop. Having read another review that this unit didn't work with Windows 7 I was a little cautious, but it works great.Installation was as easy as installing the software from the cd and pluggin the unit into the USB port. Ableton Live Lite that in included offers an easy setup lesson that walks you through everything you need to get the unit working with that DAW.I've played my P-Bass and Drum Machine through the unit and it all sounds wonderful. Clean, clear, no pops, no buzzing (other than passive bass buzz, lol) and even though there is a switch for "Direct Monitor" I found in unnessesary as there was no noticable delay when recording and using filters via the provided Ableton software. I'm actually really impressed with the software provided, even if it is a "LITE" version. It's been fun learning how to use it.I would recommend this unit for any one wanting a small 2 input unit that's great for bedroom or portable applications. The unit is small and fits easily into my laptop bag and since it is powered via USB you don't have to worry about extra power cables.5 Stars for a great product!!

When I unpacked this I downloaded the latest drivers and plug-in's, then plugged in this unit to do a test recording. I use Sony Sound Forge Pro 10. With this device and using the default settings of 44.1K @ 16 bits, I get a distorted recording. Same setting with Audacity and it works great. Set Sound Forge to 24 bit or higher and it works great, but for some unknown reason it distorts at 16 bit ONLY (so far) with Sound Forge Pro 10.Tech support wanted me to do a ton of changes which I won't do as I've never had a problem using any other USB interface. BTW, it does the same thing on my laptop as well.Having said that, I've done several hours of recording (at 24 bit or higher) and love this little box. Plus it's really pretty. The glow indicators around the input level controls remind me of the old "cat-eye" VU meter system. Enjoy!

i got this to replace a problematic audio interface that cost twice as much; i hated the 2i2 for a few days (it sounded THAT different from the earlier interface).but am used to it now, and...am much impressed.the sound quality is cleaner, deeper. there's more presence. the preamps are nice. all-in-all, a ridiculously-good deal at this price, which includes Ableton Live Lite, and a set of audio plugins...an EQ, a comp, a gate, a reverb...all decent (altho not better than Logic's defaults).only issues: level drops slightly when direct monitor is on, and the overall levels (master, and headphones), are a little low...but just a little.seriously recommended.EDIT:a couple months in, i go to turn on "direct monitor" (for literally the 3rd time ever) and the button cracks in 2. ah well, good sound, cheap construction.EDIT 2: then, a month later, i notice that, even with the mic volume all the way down, when i turn the MONITOR volume up high, there is some sound coming from the mic.so...i have to UNPLUG the mic to correct this. again, this thing sounds good, but it is poorly made...EDIT 3: several months later, and got focusrite to replace my unit. the new one seems better, not having those same problems. sound is great, and it's working. am happy.

Wow is all I can really say. I went from pro tools hardware to this thing and my vocals just got WAY better! Everything sounds clear and full. I was on a budget and didn't really have money for anything pricier, but now that I heard what this thing can do I actually wouldnt spend more money unless I was doing a big upgrade.Also, it feels durable, knobs and inputs are all in very well placed areas, everything is very easy to get to, cables dont really get in the way. Direct monitoring is great as well.Love this audio interface!

I am being generous by giving this 3 stars, and I only do so because it is low latency, sound quality is good, and the drivers work great on w7 64 bit. But this device has a huge flaw. It clips like crazy when using a guitar on the instrument setting. Active and passive pickups both clip even with the input volume all the way down. I suppose the problem could be fixed by using a DI between the guitar and interface but that just requires more money. You can switch to line and use the guitar without clipping but that affects the tone in my opinion.If you need an interface to use your guitar with, look elsewhere. otherwise this is a good unit at a very affordable price.

This item is very well built, in other hand is not compatible with any singing system, like Audacityor Sony Forge audio, I tried to make it work but my system got froze it. I returned the item, and purchased something else.

Love this audio interface.Thought it would be relevant to others to note that it works flawlessly with my Dell XPS 15 through Abelton Live. I travel quite a lot and the construction and size is perfect in addition to looking really coolGreat build, very easy installation and use and awesome sound quality. You cannot do better for this price. Had some problems with Acid Pro and the customer support was also incredibly efficient.

Disclaimer - I'm new at this. Just bought a Heil PR40 and needed a USB pre-amp to connect it to my Win 7 64-bit system.I am not using this for music creation, but purely for voice overs (podcasts, video commentary for gaming, etc). The build quality is excellent. The physical form factor is small yet powerful (and easy on the eyes to avoid any wife-aggro). I tested it in multiple audio programs (Audition too) and it performs very well. There is NO noise until about 95% gain, but that is expected.Before I had this, I had a Presonus Audiobox USB, which had really poor gain and lots of noise. Returned that for this and couldn't be happier for my basic mic-related needs.

Using an audio technica condenser microphone on channel 1 and my Carvin V-220 guitar in channel 2.Using Ableton Lite software [best darn in-program self help I've ever seen] to record with latency set to lowest levels. Sounds great, records even better. Not having any issues with # processors, or crashing while recording due to buffers, etc.Using QX-9650 extreme quad-core processor...getting old huh! Have 6Gb memory running Win7 ultimate SP1.Recording level lamps in volume control knobs are cool...green/normal, red/overdriven +dbWish it had more channels, but that's a different model...

This little baby has been sitting on my desk for a few months now. Still works perfectly. Was easy to use. Came with a few plug-ins that I honestly don't use and Ableton Live Lite 8 that I do not use for recording audio but still a nice gem.I'm using this with an Audio Techinca at4040 (microphone) and M-Audio CX5's (monitors) Works perfectly. No complaints about it whatsoever. Doesn't hurt that this thing looks amazing either.

i research for months, finally i buy this interface, and im glad, the sound is very very nice, tha latency its very short and its depends of your PC, go for it everybody, this its a good brand, tha material is very durable i dont see anything i dont like and im considered myself a pro in audio interfaces so, go go for it , if your budget is 149 dlls, if you have more, buy focusrite more expensive models !!

I use a Fireface 800 at the studio for most of my recording but I needed a basic setup at home. This unit is the perfect setup for me, the big volume knob is great to control the powered monitors I have hooked up the balanced outputs (eliminating the mixer I was using), and the analog outputs sound great. I have only tracked a couple of things with the mic preamps but they sound good as well. All in all good value for money.

This is just not compatible with Windows 7.I gave it two stars, because for all I know, the preamps might sound great.But I never got a chance to try it. I'm using 64-bit Windows 7. I use Sonar as my DAW. The drivers wouldn't install either from the CD or when downloaded from their website.Nice, sturdy construction. Maybe it's worth a try. I bought a Tascam US-200 instead. It works fine with Windows 7. Almost zero latency. Great price, too.

For those suggesting this device lacks certain attributes in the recording arts, I suggest you buy a mac. From the box and running within ten minutes.Highly recommended. Thank you Focusrite!!
