Performance is very good indeed for a turntable of relatively lightweight construction. Remarkable ease of use makes playing discs a pleasure. With first class amp and speakers this player gives the pin-sharp sound you want to hear.

I guess this is 4 stars. Overall it's good value although it would be good if you could lift the arm onto records manually, which my large fingers can't. My biggest criticism is that it can't cope with a 16GB memory stick - the synchronisation goes haywire which makes editing/separating tracks nigh impossible with the supplied software. This isn't an issue with anything between 128KB to 1GB of memory but they should tell you that large memory sticks could be an issue. It would certainly saved me some head scratching.

As a music appreciator rather than fanatic, i am very pleased with every aspect of my new Denon turntable. For the money, and integrated with my other Denon separates and half-decent speakers it brings me great joy and nostalgia.

Great Deck, just what I was looking for!
Been looking around for a turntable where I could convert to MP3 easily, but didn't want the cheap USB turntable (heard nasty things about damaging records). The fact it's an automatic player, and that it supports recording to USB storage, it's a win win! Rather than get a cheaper turntable, spend a little more and get this!
Also, it does look the business too!
When I upgrade my amp, this is gonna look lovely on it!

I bought this turntable as I started to collect vinyl again.
As my sound system is also all Denon I decided to go for this model.
In terms of sound quality I would say it is very good.
It looks very light and very placticy.
The on/off button has no light to say if on or off. You can easily forget it on. Bad!
Other down side is the arm as it don't come with the device to lift and lower the needle. I have to have steady hands not to scratch your vinyl. You can put on/off automactly whisch is good.
I haven't test the usb soft yet but I can say is a good product and it could be cheaper than that.
Overall is does the job and I'm happy with the sound quality which meters more to me.

I bought this specifically to transfer my vinyl collection to MP3 and not to connect to any medium or high-end hi-fi equipment. The product itself is OK - easy enough to set-up and work-out how to use, the quality of sound coming through my small stereo is fine (although I have never compared any other record deck through the same stereo), however the software is infuriating - really, really poor. I find it counter-intuitive to simply split the tracks and it is driving me mad. I would get some additional / alternative software if I could be bothered, but I've got to the point where I just play my records through the stereo.
I really should have looked at this in more depth and I probably would have bought a standard record deck and maybe an add-on that allowed it to be played directly into my PC. I'm not using it in the way I intended.

I did wonder at first if I was imagining it but all checks carried out so far seem to indicate that I seem to be right. Shame nice sound otherwise. Supplied software isn't that great either. Love Denon products too, so why is this product rather 'inferior'?

It does what I wanted when I was looking for a means of archiving my collection of LPs, EPs and 45rpm singles.

Bought this for my husband for his birthday and we have been so pleased with it. Lovely to hear our LPs again and the sound is so clear, wonderful clarity. He wants to copy the LPs to disc but we haven't managed to get round to it yet. Looks simple enough though.

I wanted a new turntable so I could re-discover some of the pleasures of my old record collection. I was a bit surprised at the cost of turntables these days but, i suppose with inflation factored in maybe they aren't so expensive.
Anyway, firstly I must comment on a great service from Superfi. It was free delivery but they definitely provided a first class service in this respect - I highly recommend them.
The turntable arrived very well packaged and just needed to be unpacked and assembled (fixing the belt to the platter and then putting on the mat - which was all very easy to do). I connected it to my Denon M38 Cd Receiver and it all worked perfectly. It is very easy to use and I am pleased with the sound from the set up. So far I have only used it to play records and have not tried to use the USB recording facility, though it is something I do intend to try, but if I'm not happy with it at least I know I can directly connect this turntable direct to my PC. The only negative point I have come across is that it would have been better had there been some indication of when the unit was on, as there are no lights to show this, and I have left it on overnight by accident already.
On the whole I would definitely recommend this turntable for those wishing to get back to playing their vinyl collection.

We paired this with B&W 602 SM speakers and NAD 315 amp, the sound is brilliant. To set it up was very easy, it is Plug and Play! Strongly recommend it, it has brought the music back in our house!

Only a small point but when the power is on there is no indicator light so it is easy to leave on after use.

looks ok. however it rarely plays any of my vinyl without jumping. I contacted the supplier who advised using blu tack to weight the stylus but this did not work.There is no facility to adjust the weight of the arm as in the old days.
Anyway I was not happy to do that. I reinstated my old turntable and the vinyl plays ok but the lever remains broken which is why I replaced it.
It would be great to get a good quality automatic turntable.

I have now put all my vinyl onto my I-pod, a bit time consuming but very easy. The Denon player was easy to use but the software was more difficult to master and so was not used, hence only 4 stars. This may be an "age thing" as I am now retired and find some software overly complicated. I know the software has to cover every users expectations but perhaps as most vinyl owners may be of a senior disposition and may be "hard of thinking" there should be a fast track way of putting a title onto the I-pod, perhaps there is and I need to a bit more research. At the moment on the I-pod the downloaded music files have a number which I am beginning to remember.

My LP collection, 40 year-old Philips 202 3-speed turntable, and Aiwa tape deck, were boxed away for 7 years due to house renovations (don't ask), and when resurrected recently, the drives had deteriorated so much they were absolutely useless. Happy coincidence, my family bought me the Denon DP-200 USB turntable for my 80th birthday. Playing my LPs on it through my also 40 year-old Armstrong 526 Stereo Amplifer, and Wharfedale Dovedale 3 speakers in my study, I have to put on record that I am delighted with the performance. I must try it some day with my Denon D-77 system and Mission speakers in the lounge where I play my CD and tape collection, but I'm having too much fun where it is at the moment. I have no doubt that it will perform equally well. It has reminded me of the Sugden turntable of my youth and has finally persuaded me that vinyl LPs are superior to CDs. Listening to the Carlos Kleiber recording of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, which I have in both formats, there is no doubt in my mind which is superior in sound quality. LPs certainly have a more pleasant quality that I have been missing these seven years, against the hardness of CDs.
I haven't attempted to used the recording feature of the turntable. My younger family thought it would be a good idea to have it available, but why use MP3 when you've got Dovedale 3s? I have no doubt it will perform equally well. As an old Hi-Fi man, in every sense of the word, in my experience Denon equipment is like that! I can thoroughly recommend this turntable to any of my generation who suddenly find themselves short of a turntable to play their LP collection. Or even if not. This one is worth every penny! Treat yourself. You don't have to wait until you are 80 to have this much fun!

I bought this to replace an aging record deck and to digitise some of my favourite vinyl. It is connected to a new Marantz system and sounds supurb when used as a straightforward "record player", however the conversion of vinyl to digital is an extremely lengthy process.
An LP has first to be copied to a USB memory stick fitted directly in the record deck, and then transfered to a computer to split the LP which is recorded as one long continous track, into individual tracks to allow access to specific recordings. The software supplied is OK but limited and frequently split tracks in the wrong place ie. a quiet period midway through the track. Apparently this can be adjusted but requires a lot of playing with to get it right. I searched the internet for an alternative and discovered "Spin It Again" which I consider to be far superior.
All in all an excellent purchase although the bundled software isn't great. Due to the time required to digitise records, it is probably best used to play them and only convert absolute favourites that are not available in other formats.

When my Hi-FI finally gave up after a number of years of loyal service I found myself in dire straits as I needed a turntable to play my long list of vinyl records on. When I discovered this one on the market (I knew the manufacturer were highly thought of) I instantly snapped it up.Suffice to say it fits the bill perfectly and the sound is probably even better than that on my old Hi-Fi

I bought this turntable after reading the reviews so that I could convert my 70's singles to digital. It was ordered on a Wednesday evening and delivered and up and running by the Friday. I had previously been using the ION USB turntable but it can only convert direct to a PC or Laptop. I also wanted something to match my present Hi-Fi and the Denon turntable fits the bill perfectly. Although my Hi-Fi unit is a Sony, apart from the brand name they match brilliantly. The beauty of it is that you can record directly to a USB stick and it will play the raw file on a unit that has a USB input capable of playing MP3's. The Denon's sound quality is excellent when used with my existing Hi-Fi set-up. The Denon will only record as a single track, so to record a single is okay but time consuming as it records in real time so to convert close to 200 singles has taken some time. If you record an album you will need to split the tracks. This brings me on to the supplied software which I found absolutely useless for splitting the tracks either manually or automatically and out of nearly 200 singles the music recognition service failed to identify most of them. I used Audacity which is available as a free download to split the tracks, and also remove the crackles and pops and iTunes to tag and name the tracks. I have now borrowed back most of my albums from my DJ son and have started listening to them again and have also bought several new vinyl albums courtesy of Amazon. Digital is great for convenience but there is just something you cannot quite beat when listening to a good album on vinyl.

I bought this so I can copy my extensive record collection to MP3 and save it on my computer. That works fine: the sound is good with 192 kb/s, so nothing wrong there. However, the fact that there's no armlift is a big minus! Also the software that came with it is a bit of a struggle (to say the least). I removed it already and I'm using 'Audacity', freeware that does the trick more accurate. Furthermore I can say that I expected more from a top brand in consumer-electronics like Denon, but nevertheless; the purchase price was not too much (in comparison with the prices here in Holland) and the seller did a fine job packaging and sending it quickly enough, so it definitely isn't all that bad.

...I love this , and it replaced my previous Denon turntable..... it's better than the old one but when it came to digitizing my Vinyl I still prefer to connect the amp to the line-in on my laptop and use Vinyl Studio software.... this enables a higher bit-rate , or choice of format , and is just as quick and easy............... great deck though , as a stand alone product.

Bought as Xmas present for my partner who already has the Denon mini cd system but wanted to be able to play old record collection. This is perfect, larger than the mini system but as it's all in a cabinet it doesn't matter.

I am not usually so easily impressed but this USB Turntable from Denon is a delight to use. One thing - forget the software. As other reviewers have said it's not up to it, but it's not needed. I downloaded Audacity - easy to use and free. I convert from 192 to 320 and split the tracks in iTunes. This also lets you name tracks, albums and add artwork. Takes a bit of time but I enjoy doing it. With the equaliser switched on the vinyls sound stunning through my Cyrus amp and Monitor Audio speakers. Yes there are more expensive and fancier turntables out there but this is mid-range, mid-priced bit of kit and it's no hassle to get onto a USB stick. It works great and it's better than I thought it was going to be.
I should add that Amazon were brilliant on this order. It was confirmed on Thursday 17th May and arrived by 9am on Saturday 19th May (Express delivery). The turntable was set up in 15 minutes and 1st LP was digitised before the cricket started between Eng and West Indies.

Excellent reproduction; the recording facility works well. The software for sorting out tracks does take a little playing around with if you don't use the automatic setting.

This addition to the sound system has been a revelation. The quality of the sound and download is better than expected. I can now play my records again and really annoy the teenagers.
I am not a stereo geek but I like good quality sound and this turntable provides it within the confines of my lounge. Although some of my vinyl has not stood the test of time. I know tastes do change but what was I thinking about!

This is a great turntable. Very well made and affordable.
Its easy to use and well laid out. Phono connection to your HiFi(no pre-amp). Disc size and 33/45 switches on the top surface. Power, record, start, stop and USB socket on the front.
You can't record directly to your computer but its a easy two step process. Record your vinyl to flash drive via the USB (keep this as your back-up). Remember to separate tracks by pressing record stop between songs. Then plug the flash drive into your computer and export direct to iTunes. Denon supply full editing software disc but I didn't need use it.

I looked at a few turntables before purchasing the DP200 but I was attracted by reviews and the relative ease of copying vinyl i.e. no hook up to PC or laptop required. The turntable is compact and good to look at with usual Denon understated styling. I was able to copy my first track to USB memory stick in minutes. I haven't used the software provided; just renamed my copied files and uploaded into itunes where they can be located as named tracks in 'Unknown Artist' listing. Sound from the deck is crisp enough, I've linked it with a 20+ year old Denon tuner amp and budget Mission speakers. My only criticism is the lack of cueing control as you have to locate LP tracks by hand if you want to record a particular track from a side. Other than that it is £139 well spent and great to hear some vinyl I'd forgot ever existed.

Through a life time of collecting vinyl LPs and singles, mainly because I thought CDs and latterly MP3s were just a passing fad, but then I was one of the few who bought a Betamax Video recorder as well, never seem to latch on to the right technology until everyone else has moved on.
Any way I now have one of these excellent turntables, well built and when playing through my Denon system give a very exceptable sound quality. I am sure that there are those who believe that nothing but the best HiFi equipment is worth listening to.
The recording quality is also extremely good and having done tests on singles and LPs I am looking forward to recording my collection into digital format probably another no-no for the HiFi Buffs. Still it suits my untutored ear. The critisms about the editing software may be correct, but I have AVS4you audio editor which I like a lot so no worries.

I received this item yesterday & had it up & running/recording within 10 minutes. So simple to install & record from. I can't understand the people who have reviewed this, saying they can only record 1 item at a time, as it says, a 1GB memory stick will give you about 30 albums. I have no problem with it. The only thing, is that the database you edit to is only a CD database, so therefore, if the vinyl you have hasn't been released on CD, you have to edit this yourself, which again, I don't have a problem with. The recording to a USB stick is at 192 bitrate, and again this is very good. An excellent buy.

I bought this turntable to match the Denon Hi Fi system that I bought at the same time. Being an oldie I have lots of excellent Albums that I have not played for numerous years. This now gives me the opportunity to hear some great music I collected in my youth. The whole system looks great together, very pleased with my purchase. The whole system looks compact and very neat on my newly purchased stand which is also in black and chrome.

I have had this Denon turntable for three months now. I waited this long to review it to make sure I was giving it a fair shake. Firstly I was buying it not to transfer to computer but to burn direct to audio cd's so im afraid I cannot say anything about the software.I am old school when it comes to recordings.
The Turntable's I had before were a Project Essential and a Ariston Q deck so you can see that I was suprised that upon removing it from the box I found it was a bit light and a bit flimsy.
The platter was a lot lighter than I was used to, the platter mat had too large a hole in it so could not be placed central with ease.There also seemed no way to adjust the tone arm placement when using the auto start which meant that on a few of my records the tone arm tended to land a few seconds into the song.
Those are the negative's,On the plus side it is compact, it has great sound on both the pre-amp and the normal setting, Apart from the build of the unit it is quite a resonable player. Just not up to the standerd I have had from Denon in the past.

The platter was a lot lighter than I was used to, the platter mat had too large a hole in it so could not be placed central with ease.There also seemed no way to adjust the tone arm placement when using the auto start which meant that on a few of my records the tone arm tended to land a few seconds into the song.
Those are the negative's,On the plus side it is compact, it has great sound on both the pre-amp and the normal setting, Apart from the build of the unit it is quite a resonable player. Just not up to the standerd I have had from Denon in the past.

I bought this to go with my Denon system and because it would fit on my audio rack. I wasn't able to play it because of a damaged plug, so can't comment on the sound quality which I would have expected to be as good as other Denon products. However, I was astonished that Denon put out a product as flimsy-looking as this. It is plastic and thin plastic at that and with a very thin (50mm diameter) tonearm....so I didn't see how it can produce a reasonable sound and I strongly suspect it wouldn't stand up to much use; it looks too easy to break off small parts.
I sent it back because of the damaged plug and bought a Project turntable instead. If you want this to play vinyl occasionally or to digitise vinyl, it's probably ok but I have serious doubts about it's longevity.
Please Denon, produce something with the build quality of your mini and micro systems, and if it must be a USB deck, allow audio capture in a higher format than MP3 as well. Or just put out a basic deck at the same price without the phono amp and USB and with higher quality construction.

So bad in fact that it completely undermines the fact that the record player itself is really good and it seems to transfer on to memory sticks really easily.
However, at the other end, Track Music Manager seems to operate completely randomly when editing. So far it has:
- failed to recognise that a track was recorded at all,
- recognised only half of it
- deleted files when all I was trying to do was tell it that the song identification issues were never going to be resolved
- edited at the wrtong point because of a mismatch between the display and what was actually going to be played
- a manual that makes "English As She Is Spoke" look like literary genius
- buttons that do something like but not the same as their labels.
I have a nasty feeling that I will have further battles with it before it is tamed into submission...
It really is a ghastly program and Denon should be ashamed at including it in the package. My star rating is for the program alone. The player itself would have got a 4* - it loses one star for the inexplicable absence of a cueing lever but is otherwise what I would expect from Adenon product.

I bought this turntable as I've previously purchased Denon products in the past and have been very happy. The turntable is fine, although perhaps not of the same quality as the other Denon items I own, but perfectly reasonable considering the price of the unit. The main problem is the software, which is difficult to use, unreliable and confusing. The track identification feature is the worst that I have ever used and it seemed that I had to close and reopen the program to see the changes that I had made. In the end I split the tracks manually (this can be sped up) and then transferred the tracks back to my USB flash drive to add the track titles manually. I achieved what I wanted in the end but it was definitely a process of trial and error!

I'm a music fan rather than a hi-fi fan. Looking at new record players I noticed many seemed too cheap and nasty (those all-in-one retro machines) or too much about the hi-fi (i.e. manual cueing, pre-amps etc.) I wanted something of decent quality but practical and convenient, and of course at a sensible price.
This one fits the bill:
* 1 button start and stop, soft and precise cueing action.
* line out to connect into normal audio/video input of any music system.
* USB recording to a USB stick. Very easy to record. The software to edit and tag the MP3 files takes a few minutes to master, although ultimately it's pretty straightforward.
* brushed aluminium (imitation) to match my existing medium-fi. Plastic but nice build quality, belt-driven aluminium platter etc.
* Not too expensive, not too cheap, £150 is spot on!
I'm very happy with this purchase.

I bought the turntable as part of a whole new stereo system for my house. My good lady insisted that if we were to replace the old system then the new one should have a disc facility. So i bought this because of the USB facility but not yet had the chance to record our discs to a USB stick yet.
I have used it to play the discs and everything works fine and is well produced throughout the system.

I was looking for a Hi-Fi turntable and this is perfect. The sound quality is great and turntable is well designed. The only negative part is probably that the switches and buttons are a little cheaply made. Unfortunately it is made in China, but designed in Japan so not all bad. Finally, I bought this turntable from Superfi, they were very professional and I would defiantly recommend them.
