I bought the DWL-G650 card (Version B4) along with the the 624 Router (Version C1) a few days ago. The installation was very easy. The install guide was the best I ever read.Only one problem, it didn't work. For some reason, I could not get a signal on my laptop with the DWL-G650 card. Several calls to D-Link did not solve the problem. Though the D-Link people are great and their e-mail service is also great, I still could not hook-up.D-Link told me to send the product back to Amazon since they believe it is either a bad router or a back card.I'll change the star rating once I get this product to work. But it deserves at least 2 stars for the great install guide and the helpful people at D-Link.UPDATE: After more converstaions with the D-Link tech suport people, they concluded that the problem was with the latest firmware update (2.48) to this wireless card. When I use the prior firmware update 2.46, I have no problems hooking up with my Di-624 wireless router. HOWEVER, firmware update 2.46 has a WPA bug. So if you are willing to use 2.46 w/out the WPA encryption, this is a great product. The speed is amazing.Otherwise, you may consider the Linksys w/speedboast.

Ordered this card and the DI-624 to upgrade from a Mac 802.11b AirPort card. The sad fact is that for me the AirPort card out-performed the G650X in all aspects. Good signal strength indicated but never connected faster than 12m and 1-5m was more likely (AirPort card kept trucking at 11m in same locations) and connection speed decreased when Safari used, go figure?? The card maybe alright with a different driver. Couldn't figure out how to get the driver to not drop WEP keys so had to manually enter them for secure connections. Someone with more expertise might be able to make it work better.

I purchased the DWL-G650 PC card and the DI-624 54G wireless router together with a $40 rebate to replace my old DLink router. The installation and configuration of DI-624 is a snap. After I upgraded the firmware to have the 108Mbps Super G mode, the signal actually became more steady and much stronger. I have the DI-624 router on the second floor. With the DWL-G650 card in my Compaq Presario laptop, I can get on the network with good signal anywhere indoors. I am waiting to test it out at my back yard. In general, the Wireless Configuration utility software that came with the DWL-G650 works fine. However, I do have some problems after I install it on my WinXp laptop due to the interference of the Wireless Zero Configuration service that comes with WinXP. Fortunately, I found an article at the DLink Technology Knowledge base to show me how to disable the WinXp service and use the utility software that came with Dlink. It's much better. It gives you broader control and better configuration with a signal strength meter. In case you run into problems with the installation of the utility, make sure your check the Dlink web site for Knowledge Base. And most importantly, upgrade to the latest firmware. The default broadcasting channel is #6. If you have 2.4 GHz wireless phone, you might want to try either the #1 or #11 channel instead (change the setting on the router admin page). However, for the Super G mode, it only gives you the Channel #6 option. I also tried this card on my son's toy laptop (Pentium 233). It gives me the same speed as of the regular LAN Ethernet card (10/100). On my Compaq Presario laptop(PIII_1.3GHz), I can watch streaming video of news from Taiwan in my family room on the first floor. Isn't that impressive?

I bought the DWL-G650 card (Version B4) along with the the 624 Router. THe router was easy to install and configure. Work great.But this card was a pain. I have HP laptop with windows XP properly updated to the lastest service pack.Windows was complaining about that the drivers was not "Windows logo testing" certified ! Even with the latest D-Link drivers ....So, everytime I reboot my machine...windows asks me to re-intall/configure everything...totally unacceptable....Let's be positive...of course, I got this card running...it works great ..but I could not fix the problem above...I didn't want to call customer support as well :-) ...I tried a Netgear card after....was working without any problems.

I didn't really have much wireless networking experience before buying this D-Link PC Cardbus adapter and a D-Link wireless access point. I've certainly never set up a wireless network before.But doing my homework on the Internet while the product is being shipped to me, and reading the quick install guides that come with this product was quite helpful to say the least. I now know you should secure your wireless connection with some sort of encryption. So now Im all setup and this card lets me go wireless with my laptop.Very easy to use software, after reading instructions of course, and the hardware looks nice and solid. nothing flimsy about them. I have zero problems with this card in my laptop.I recommend this card for even the beginners.

I own this for a dell laptop, and it works very well. I use it for a home network, and at my college to detect wireless signals in the classroom. The only issue i have is that when i first turn on my computer i have to open the program that comes with the device, and go to configuration and then hit apply before the internet will work.

I've been trying to get this thing to run for several months now, and it's just not cutting it. Problems accessing multiple access points (corrupts driver, results in blue screen of death - nice debugging, Dlink - *not*), weak signals, and a hopeless implementation of encryption protocols - basically your choices are: secure network that drops connections every few minutes, or an insecure network that works reasonably well. Dlink's tech support tries, but fails. The usual run-around: other drivers, error in upgrade procedure, etc. etc. Then they finally cave and recall the card, sending you a new one with a marginally improved performance. I'm doubly pissed off at Dlink for releasing this lemon since I bought it along with the "official" Dlink SuperG access point/router which works fine. But so did my old router.Unless you're willing to fight to get the thing working and think 108Mbps is worth the (serious) hassle you face, then I'd go with a more stable solution from someone else.

I decided to replace my DI-704P wired network, which I had no problems with but just wanted wireless with my notebook. So bought the DI-624 along with the DWL-G650. I live in a two story house. In the room with the router the reception was excellent (I used Netstumbler and Cirond WiNc), but in the next room signal strength dropped to 75%, 50% in the third bedroom, downstairs 25% and outside under the bedroom with the router 15-20%. These numbers all seemed low. So I replaced both units with the same results. However, the story has a happy ending.... Again, I replaced both units but with the Netgear WGR614 router and the WG511 notebook. All I can say is D-Link has "POOR RANGE". With the Netgear setup - signal strength was above 75% anywhere in the house and outside opposite side as the router it was still 60%. The D-Link units need work! In addition, with SSID broadcast off and the WEP at 128bit the D-Link card could not find the network. Netgear had no problems. I found this review of the Netgear WG511 on Cnet's website. It usually drops the connection after 10 minutes. Then it does not work for days. Customer support is really bad, they give you the run-around trying to save a buck replacing the unit. They blame your wireless computer for it and want you to upgrade everything like there is no tomorrow. (My wireless worked well with other networks, and even in the house "sees" a neighbour's wireless network). I really wasted 1 hour on the phone with them so they told me (after on hold most of the time) they will connect me with level 2 technician. Probably somebody smarter at the run-around. THIS WAS MY FOURTH AND LAST CALL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I TOLD TO THEM HANG UP BECAUSE THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO "HELP" SOMEBODY ELSE (WHO IS PROBABLY ON HOLD FOR HALF AN HOUR). These were totally 3 hours wasted. I will never buy from NETGEAR again. (I have a 15 year experience with computers.) Thank you!

I've never used wireless networking before this and overall I am pleased. The only issue i have that occasionally I'll lose signal even when my computer doesn't move. (And I frequently lose signal when I move outside) It's kinda annoying but like i said overall it was worth the 30 bucks.

D-Link card will connect to a peer-to-peer network at home 80% of the time on the first try. Connects to an open (non-wep) base station network (city-wide "Cafenet" wifi) with some coaxing.Connects to my work network (with wep) intermittently, at best. I don't remember the last time I've had such a frustrating experience. I done everything per D-Link instructions (i.e. if your software doesn't work, disable Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration) and still their software won't run. Windows will often associate with a base station but won't take a DHCP address. This card, on Windows XP, is an absolute nightmare - stay away.(I should mention it works on my wife's Win2k laptop without issue.)

Just like the title says. I am using Windows XP and I still needed the drivers to install the device, no problem. I don't recomend the software that comes witht the card, it just plain SUCKS! I also have the DI-624 wireless router by DLINK.I don't recommend using WEP or anyother encryption. Instead, set filters to only allow known MAC address to access the network, others wise don't expect to exceed 15-25 feet indoors. Plays well with other wireless networks, both 802.11b/gBeware with the different Hardware Versions. I have the lastest which is B2. (makes me question why they make revisions?)I since made some changes thaT allows it to work beyond the 15-20ft. I bought this to go with the D-Link DI-624 wireless router for my broadband inet connection.Setup was a breeze. I installed the driver, shutdown, plugged in the card, and booted up. That was it. No configuration needed.There is plenty of configuration options available if I choose. So it also works with my wireless network at work.

The great: Near the base it is very fast. Far from the base, it works farther than my old 802.11b did, and even at that range I get better speed than I got with my old gear close to the base. :)The unsure: I don't know for sure if its the base station or the card (I think base), but every once in a while, the connection will just drop. Windows will still show a link, but pings ect (to the base or anywhere) just fail).May or may not matter to you: No external antenna connector. There are ways to "install" one if you really need one, you can find at least two pages via google. Linux drivers - no distro comes with working drivers, and d-link doesn't provide a driver or support. You need to go here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi/ and compile the stuff. And it doesn't get you full functionality. - so if you are in linux most of the time, you should probably pick another card. Me, I'm in 2k most of the time with my notebook, so the linux support is workable. I'm happy.

I had the built in wireless adapter with my laptop I bought but it didn't get the range I wanted. So I did some research and a bunch of people were saying that this card had good range, plus it was I my price range and has fast speeds.Installation was very easy, no worries at all. Then the I immediately saw an increase in range from my old built in adapter. I think it is because this antenna is on the outside of the notebook, and the built in has the antennas somewhere inside the notebook. This card is also very reliable and doesn't drop my connection when I am using it. I've heard other people complaining about this, but I don't see it happing with mine.

I bought the g650 with the DI-624 router. It was a disappointment. I could not get the card to see the wireless network, after having followed the installation instructions step by step. After much fiddling I found out that doing exactly the opposite of what was said let me connect to the router, after all. That is, disabling the "utility" and using windows to configure the wireless network. After that, despite getting the card to work, I was disappointed with range, speed, and reliability of the signal. I use Win XP Pro, and maybe the software problems are specific to this version. Anyway, the other card I have (TrendNet) works much better, even with D-Link's own router. And just as the last drop, the indicator lights are far too big, and keep blinking all the time, what is enerving and distracting. Ah! They do not work as described in the manual...As a result of all this, including not being able to get all my house covered, I'm back to my blue wires...

I wasted two weeks trying to use this as directed, along with the DI-624 wireless router. I selected the WPA-PSK encryption format for security and found that it worked from 5 minutes to 2 hours at a time. Same thing with the old and fairly INsecure WEP encryption format. I emailed and phone D-Link's tech support line and got responses that did nothing to help in any way. I spent weeks researching and reading ratings penned by numerous others to choose what should have been the best wireless networking gear for my environs only to find D-Link's products a miserable failure, backed up by mediocre, faltering tech support.

I bought two wireless products Linksys B and D-Link g laptop card. As you can see, many customers like or dislike either brand. This is the second D-Link PCMIA card I've owned, and they have both been good performers, except they interfere with Windows' power management features on HP and Compaq notebooks. I thought the problem would be solved by buying this newer card, but it hasn't. My computer refuses to stay powered on for more than 20 minutes unattended, and frequently, when browsing the Internet, my mouse cursor freezes and the only way out is to hit the power button. I did some online research, and it turns out many other HP and Compaq laptop users have had the same problem. For some reason, these incompatibilities still exist, despite D-Link knowing about them for some time. Again, D-Link cards perform well and are a good value, but I would not recommend one to an HP or Compaq user.

I had a good experience with a previous DLink purchase, so I chose DLink again and bought DI-624 and DWL-G650 this October. I upgraded both firmware and enjoyed 108MB connection for over a month without any problem.Then, first the router stopped working (It rebooted every 5 minutes or so) and was replaced. We had another fine week before the card started losing connection this time; The signal strength became weak and often goes to no-connection. (We have another wireless card from Lucent which is working fine, so the router is not the problem.) I called the tech support and got the following recommendations: * Disable super-G because super-G is unstable; * Don't update Windows because the latest Microsoft virtual device driver does not work with this card; Talk to Microsoft because this is a Microsoft problem; * Don't move around; * Don't use a wireless phone with the same frequency; Neighbors' wireless phones can also interfere; * If you don't like these recommendations, just return it to the store because we can't do anything about it.I followed their recommendation and returned it to the store.

I love how easy this card was to install. he thing I like most its the speeds it can acheive with the D-Link DI-624 as it's access point. I can connect and transfer MP3's to my desktop just as fast as my wired network. Granted I do have to be inthe same room to acheive those awesome speeds, but even at two rooms down I get fast enough speeds. The Internet connection doesn't seem slower, I am protected with 128-bit WEP, easy to install by the way, and the software hasn't been a problem on my Dell laptop. Overall I'd recommend this Wireless PC Card.

The card itself is more or less OK. Works with Windows 2000 and D-Link DI-614+ router.However, the software which comes with the card, AirPlus -- to find a network and configure the card is pretty bad. One has to be logged in as an administrator all the time to use it. If you have pre-configured a profile for a particular network (having logged in as an administrator), the card will work when you are logged in as a regular user. However, there is no way to see to which network you are connected, what is the signal strength or if you are connected at all!This is on top of the fact that the software is shipped on a CD with a virus (Dropper.Netbuser.A in autorun.exe file).Yet the hallmark of D-Link is its tech support: a characteristic combination of incompetence and rudeness. Once you get in through a busy line, as soon as you ask them something they don't know -- and they don't know much -- they simply hang up. Happened to me 3 times. The supervisor, whose name is Joe, just tries to compensate his lack of knowledge with agressiveness.The bottom line is -- why buy D-Link products and suffer if there are excellent products from other companies on the market?

Thanks to my research on the Internet, I selected this DLink wireless PC Card. And what a great decision it was. It took 20 minutes to install this card in each laptop, and that included the time to download an updated firmware from support.dlink.com that doubled my connection speed!I get great performance, and even maintain acceptable performance on the floor below where the signal must find it was way through several walls and doors. In the same room as my router I get lightening fast performance that appears to be as fast as my wired connections.DLink provides a nice status and config tool as part of installtion, and that really eased the way into verifiying that all was operating properly. You can see signal strength and check on which wireless mode you are operating in.One suggestion, you should enable WEP to add security and encrpytion to your wireless network. It requires changes to both your router and the wireless card(s), but its pretty simple and I did not notice a big performance impact.If you are thinking about going wireless, this is a great card to select.

I think most of my frustration is due to my ISP, but this thing has been great really. The best feature doesn't even come in the box, but the tech support is phenomenal. I spent a bit of time on hold, but the guy I spoke with had me up and running in no time at all. In general, the setup is easy (I'm using it with the D-Link DI-624). The program installs everything for you, I ran into trouble after my ISP shut down my service for some foolish reason and made me change some settings which I guess messed with my network setup. In any case, this comes highly recommended for anyone that wants to set up a wireless network, even if you aren't particularly computer savvy, as I am not.

This card works best with the DI-624 router. I have Windows 2000 and have not had any problems after upgrading to the latest firmware. Signal strength and range are good, and card does not overheat after prolonged usage.Just a few things to keep in mind.1) Download the latest firmware BEFORE you hook up your wireless connection. Do this on your wired connection- the DI-624 wireless router has both wired and wireless connections.2) Install the latest firmware. The card would also only work in a specific PCMCIA slot that I had installed it in.3) Disable any internal builtin wireless cards in your laptop.Happy surfing.

(+)Great price, high speed(-)HOWEVER before you buy this consider whether a cordless phone is used nearby. The DLINK card consistently drops connections when I use my 2.4 GHz phone even at 200 ft away. Yes, I should expect that due to the fact they use the same frequency but I NEVER experience interference with my 2Wire wireless card which was so much more reliant and is used at the same location. The DLINK card keeps dropping connections when the phone is used. It is incredibly frustrating and I am going to consider returning it.Third DLINK product I've bought, third satisfactory result from them. I've also used a total of 6 wireless cards and 3 wireless routers/access points. Although DLINK isn't at the bottom of the heap, it sure hasn't performed at the top. Checkout 2WIRE (hard to get retail) or Netgear's equipment.

I had this installed in my PC in minutes. About 3 minutes really. I installed the drivers on the CD, rebooted with the actual card in and suddenly it saw my wireless router, the DI-624, and connected automatically.I love this card for it's range, everywhere in my home, and the software that shows you your connection strength and other stats.Very easy to use and goes great with the DI-624 wireless router.

I bought the DWL-G650 card (Version B4) along with the the 624 Router (Version C1) about 5 weeks ago. I found it very hard to set up. XP Professional was installing its own drivers and would not recognize the D-Link drivers. It took me about 10 hours to resolve that issue. Customer support at D-Link was of no help. Then I had a dropped connection problem and a slow web surfing issue. I recently resolved that issue by upgrading my cable modem for free to a Toshiba PCX 2600. I was using a Toshiba PCX 1000. My point here is that there are so many factors that determine how this card will work for you. I'm getting 108mbps and hope I can continue to enjoy these fast speeds. It's no fun trying to fix things all the time.

The product may perform up to your expectations but I only hope you never have to interact with D-Link's support organization. After dealing with conflicting, contradictory and completely erroneous information from their support organization, I have come to the conclusion that I don't care to do business with D-Link again.I hope that if you do buy a D-Link product it works flawlessly (which mine did not), and you never have to call their tech support organization.

This U S Robitics is so convenient it only takes 2 connections.Plug it in the adapter and one line to your PC. It wotks great you can plug in your printer and still have 6 ports left. I received a E mail that it would be shipped by 04/08/2004 and I received it at my door on the 04/08/2004. I have never seen next day delivery, I'll buy from Amazon anytime .

Following the instructions was never an easy thing for me to do, but when you do it right, installation is a snap. The speeds for this card are good, even when not coupled with a D-Link wireless access point. The security is easy to use and quite secure. The range is also a plus for this card. I can be anywhere in my office and still recieve an Internet connection. This is great for when I have meetings and I bring my laptop to meetings.I give this card 5 stars because it deserves it. I had zero problems, and am very pleased with it's performance.

This card would not work with the 624 router. I keep losing the connection and then the router would disappear from my list of available networks, while my neighbor's network two doors down seems stronger than ever.Switched back to my old 22mbps Netgear card and the network has been stable so far. Not as fast, but at least it works and doesn't drop me.

After three frustrating months owning this wireless card and trying to get it to work with my Inspiron 4000, I am giving up. It has never worked properly, even siting right next to the base station. A lot of the time the card isn't even recognized by the computer as being in the slot. This is documented by D-Link as a problem with Texas Instrument-made slots, which the Inspiron has. Unfortunately D-Link's customer service is so poor that you get a different answer each time you call. And then the solutions are something like "reinstall your operating system," even though there is a documented problem with the hardware. Don't buy this for use on an Inspiron 4000!!

This product is not anything special unless you have the D-link DI-624 Router teamed with the firmware updates on both the Router and the Network Card. After that this product is smokin fast. It is just as fast as having a Cat-5 connection. The firmware updates were pretty self-explanatory, if you have any computer experience at all. Even if you don't I'm sure you have a guru fried that will hook you up. Bottom line if you have a need for speed this product will more than get you there and is easy on the pocketbook. Great product D-Link!

Had a linksys wireless b-card that clogged up a (older C-500)notebook. It only worked within 20 feet of the linksys router and pages would only load after extensive churning and some noticeable (30 seconds+ hesitation). Installed this D-Link card and not only was the laptop now connecting immediately, but we were was able to receive the signal throughout the house and upstairs (router in basement) (about 45 feet away with many walls and other obsticles) Good job D=Link

I recently bought this adapter about a month ago and it installed and runs great with the supplied firmware. I can get some good range and the 128-bit WEP works great. Speeds are fast as well.But now the speeds are even faster thanks to D-Link. All I had to do to get double the speed I used to is download and install the latest drivers. I did this and I was able to transfer files from my desktop to my laptop in half the time. I transfer files (video and MP3s) quite a bit and this extra speed for free is a great perk.Overall this card has caused me zero problems on my XP laptop.I'd recommend it to others who either already have a DI-624 (D-Link router that supports new fast speeds) or is looking to get an 802.11g setup.

The DI-624 Router that I got with this replaced my other router, allowing me to connect four computers via wire and this card connected my laptop to the web. Configuration couldn't be easier, and the strength of the signal in the remotest part of the house is supberb. Just great!

With this card all I need to do is plug it in and the software will start scanning for a connection. If I am at home it automatically connects to my network because I have the WEP keys all ready typed in and the SSID is all ready set. I can also use the software to search for active wireless access points among my location. This is helpful for when I am in an airport, or simalar hotspot.The signal strength is always 50% or above in my home which doesn't effect my download speeds at all. I've also dropped this card a couple times and it has (knock on wood) always worked. Very Solid.

I can get a wireless signal from anywhere in my home and the speeds are perfect. I cant give the technical info, but I know I don't notice a difference when web browsing from when I am plugged into the router with the Ethernet cable.Installing this card was very easy and only took about 5 minutes. One reboot and I was up and running. I use Windows 2000 Professional and a Toshiba laptop. I'd also like to point out that the D-Link utility that comes with this card is very helpful and works quite well. With this utility I can scan the area for wireless access points and then connect to the one I want. It displays useful information like the name of the access point, signal strength, and more.I recommend this card and if D-Link's other cards come with this type of utility I recommend at least checking them out.

With this card in my laptop I can be anywhere in my home and have a connection with my network/the Internet. There are even some spots in my front and back yard that get signal. I am not sure if this is because of thie card, my router/ access point/ or the location I am in, but all this D-Link 11g stuff is working perfect for me.With the 128-bit WEP and MAC filtering on the router I feel safe in knowing people aren't going to get into my network.I'd recommend this card if you want 11g on your laptop and have an available CardBus Slot.

I am kinda responding to what a previous reviewer said about this not working well with the 614+. Mine works fine with my friends 614+. I have a 624 at home because I want the real 802.11g speeds, but when I am over at my friends I can connect at 11Mbps speeds. Yes this wont get faster speeds than the dwl-650+ when connected to the 614+, but the 650+ wont get faster speeds when connected to a 624. It's just the way things work, it's not D-Link's product's fault.Anyway, this card performs great in a 802.11b network or 802.11g network. It also does have a great software package that comes with it. The utility that comes with it seems well thought out and easy to use. I like this card all the way around.

Download the new 108Mbps drivers at D-Link's website. Get it for your card and for the router (DI-624) and you can get double the data rate. I can literally transfer files from one PC to another in half the time. After downloading and installing the new drivers you will notice that the card is very stable, has good signal range, and causes no problems with windows.

This card has set my entire family's laptops free from wires. We now can surf independently in our own rooms, or all together where ever we want. We play games online together and there is no stutters because of network speed, we stream MP3s from our desktop to our laptops with the wireless and I don't see a difference from being wired in. The setup was very easy since these are basically "hot swapable" and the price is right.

When I bought this Card I figured it would work just fine and it does. No suprises here. You get what you pay for and it does what it says on the box. I get good range throughout my home, and the install was easy and painless.The configuration utility for this and the DWL-G520 looks cool and is very informative. It gives you signal strength, a list of APs in the area, and if they are WEP protected or not. Very useful for finding hotspots. I get a very good radius of coverage when I use this adapter in my laptop and the DI-624 as the AP. I recommend this combo if you want ease of use, simple setup, and good range.The software that gets installed with this adapter is pretty good to. Nice and detailed info on the site survey.

This card is easy to install, comes with good software, and has good range abilities. When coupled with the right AP (like DI-624) I get awesome distance with my laptop in my home. The card was also very easy to install and is an important piece to my laptop setup.

When I first saw my friend with one of these in his laptop I had to have it. The fast 802.11g speeds, the sleek look, the easy to use software, the range he got with this card, everything was coming up milhouse.Then I bought it and found it is all that and then some. The installation was real easy, the use of this product is quite simple as far as configuring it to work with other hotspots. Anyhow I wanted it, I got it, and now I love it!

I have quite a range with this and the DI-624 from D-Link. Everything was rather simple to setup and configure. I can do a site survey and see that my neighbors have an access point up and running as well. I enable WEP so they can't get on my network, but it "looks" like someone can get ont their network pretty easily.This along with the DI-624 work great together. Plus with this G650 card I can go to other wireless hotspots because they are mostly all 802.11b and the G products can connect to those just fine.I am completely satisfied.
