Plain and simple review. If you are a starting DJ then you need this sound card. The result of having this mixed with a good pair of headset is near perfect sounding music for either yourself or your customers. When I started I bought this and a Mixtrack ($70-90) which does not have its own soundcard built into the device ( the mixdeck does but $500+ )so yeah instead of spending 100 dollars to buy their brand external. Settle for this and upgrade later. I also use this for gaming on my PC as a external for just my headset to use Vent or skype while my main soundcard is meant for the in game sounds. I love this USB soundcard and would recommend it to anyone.

The USB sound card was tested on a Dell Inspirion 1100 Laptop, a computer old enough not to have on board sound (or WiFi) and affectionately referred to as my craptop.Installation was as simple as plugging in a USB device. Creative was good enough to throw in a short USB extension cable so you can use the device on computers where the USB ports are close together.Once I plugged the card in and gave the machine a reboot, Windows XP found the device and it worked perfectly even without installing the drivers from the included CD-Rom. Sound was clear and crisp and noticeably better than the no-name USB sound card previously installed.Next I installed the drivers and software from the CD-Rom. This installs THX TruStudio Pro, plus surround sound and voice changing programs. Sound was not radically improved, but it was great to begin with so that is not a surprise. It was fun playing with the surround sound programs to move the audio from back to front as well as right to left, fool with the equalizer, and try the different sound settings for Jazz Club, Opera Hall, Theater, etc. For just listening to music while you work, watching videos or playing games, I think most people are likely to open these applications once or twice, find settings they like, and forget about them. Installing the driver from the CD-Rom is almost certainly worthwhile, however, and the equalizer is certainly useful.All-in-all this is a recommended device for bringing high-quality audio to computers in need.

At risk of sounding completely pretentious, I'm kind of picky about audio quality. At work, plugging in my Shure SE535 earphones to my standard issue Dell laptop is kind of cringe-worthy, but there's not a whole lot you can do about what you're issued at work.Or is there?The X-Fi is surprisingly small -- about the size of a memory stick, with a keychain loop that's nice for people who move around and switch off between computers. The overall build quality is nothing stellar though, so I'm not too sure I'd want this on my keychain all day, every day.Since integrated audio has improved, it's been several years since I've owned a SoundBlaster product. I remembered drivers being kind of time consuming, and it seems that SoundBlaster hasn't really improved on that front. Dropping the disc in to my Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) laptop worked pretty much as I expected it to, and I opted for the full suite of software, which took a good ten minutes and a reboot to finally install. Once it was installed, there were (not surprisingly) updates available, which was another ten minutes and a reboot. After I had everything nice and current, it was time to check out the sound quality.Normally, I'd think EAX and simulated THX surround were kind of hokey, but they really come out well on decent earphones. You can hear that the sound is "enhanced", but it's not "enhanced because _______ is different" obvious. I was especially happy to use the system-wide EQ though. As much as I like my earphones, by design, they don't hit too hard when it comes to bass. With a few tweaks, I was able to get them sounding better than I've ever heard them.Is this a "must have"? Well, no. But if you're looking to squeeze what quality you can out of a laptop, it's a pretty nice product.

When I built my new PC, I ran out of room in my desktop for an internal sound card so I was left with an external USB option. This turned out to be an awesome problem to have. For the price, you can't beat this if you want good sound. I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound from my computer. The onboard motherboard sound just wasn't doing the job. With this, the difference was tremendous. The installation was extremely simple. Just pop in the CD and install. I believe during the installation it downloads the latest updates as well.The physical unit is fairly simple as well. It's about the size of a flash drive which is handy if you are traveling with a laptop. There are two 3.5mm openings on the one end for sound and mic. Also, the box contained a short USB extension cable, which I found handy when trying to finesse your way to the USB ports on the back of your PC. When you plug it into the computer, a blue light will come on telling you it is powered. Fairly straight forward.Overall, this is a great bang for the buck. It beats onboard sound without breaking the bank. I use it for everything from gaming to music and I love it enough that I bought my brother one as well.

Looking through the other reviews, it seems like the main criticism isn't that it doesn't work well, but rather that it doesn't work miracles.Well, it's true... it's a tiny little sucker and it can't make your notebook sound like you're inside the concert hall. That said, it DOES improve the quality of the sound tremendously. If you really want phenomenal sound quality, you're going to have to go out and actually pay for a better system and/or speakers. For what it is, though, it's pretty darn impressive! And very reasonably priced!

Having installed internal SoundBlasters in all of my PC's over the years, I've found this little device to be just as efficient as an internal. Plus the time saved hooking it up vs. installing an internal. By using a two-way splitter plugged into the X-Fi Go Pro's speaker jack you can plug in your old speakers, add a set of new speakers and spread out the array for a surround sound that will blow you away!When you decide on which environmental sound to choose from, how much echo to add from the program, you will have tailor made your sound machine to suit your ears.

Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem with a hissing sound in the background.I have a laptop with a single USB outlet that I connect to a hub. I have about 5 usb things connected to it (including a fan and an external video card), and still no problem what so ever with background noise.I bought high-end headphones and the soundcard in my laptop was just not up to the task.The sound with the USB soundblaster x-if is great.

This product has all of Creative's usual hype and bloatware without the usual sound quality. Save yourself some trouble and buy the ASUS Xonar U3 or upgrade to the much-better X-Fi HD USB. The Go Pro's packaging is misleading and the product is worthless if you already have integrated sound.- It's not THX-certified. The THX branding is for some post-processing tools bundled with the unit.- It doesn't use an X-Fi chip.- The internal components and DAC are crap. It has more distortion and a higher noise floor than my built-in AC97 codec.- It only supports the 44.1kHz sampling rate.- Unlike other X-Fi branded USB products, the Go "Pro" doesn't mix the line-in or microphone input into the headphone or line-out output. So you can't use it to play a musical instrument through headphones.I give it 2 stars because its microphone and headphone support works plug-n-play. There was literally no sound quality improvement over my built-in notebook audio.

Not at all an improvement from my onboard laptop audio (sager np8130) although it does clear up space on the right side of the laptop for my mouse (different location for audio jack). Apart from giving you new input and output jacks... doesn't really provide great sound quality - audible crackling in some games (e.g. skyrim had a lot of weird crackling noise). You get what you paid for... cheap DAC

My notebook does not have the sound quality I can get on my desktop. So I decided to try this sound audio hardware solution on a USB stick to solve the problem. I was a little skeptical that it would be that good since it was so small. It's about the size of my thumb with a plug at standard USB plug at one end and simple 3.5mm phono sockets on the opposite end.When you plug it in, a tiny blue LED lights up to let you know it is on. Pop in the CD and install the drivers and away you go. It's very much plug and play and works like a charm. The sound difference from my integrated audio is phenomenal and plays very well on headphones. The software that comes with it simulates surround sound and has various settings that can be used to enhance compressed audio such as MP3's and give you a more dynamic full sound with crisper high frequencies and richer bass.Just out of curiosity I also plugged it into my desktop USB to see what would happen. Windows 7 recognized it straight away and I could listen on headphones with the same excellent sound. Since my PC's internal card goes straight through to an AMP and I don't have a large headphone adapter this unit was pretty handy if I wanted to quickly get good sound through walkman headphones so as to not annoy anyone around me.I'm very pleased with this little thumbstick audio device. It works and is very portable. It's easy to set up and sounds much better than any integrated audio solution you're going to find on a notebook.

I've used USB audio in the past and have never really been "Wowed" by them. They are useful for when you want to switch between speakers and headphones, but as a primary audio, I thought they left a lot to be desired.The Creative Soundblaster X-FI Go! Pro has changed my mind! Not only does it sound better than my computers regular audio, but it sounds better than the 5.1 surround sound on my TV! I have a Logitech headset with Mic that I always thought was just "so-so" when it came to sound, now I know it was being held back by the USB audio that came with it.Setup is a breeze! I plugged it in and was almost immediately rewarded with "hardware installed". When I switch from headphones to speakers, I just unplug the usb connector and I am good to go. Back to headphones? No problem! Plug the usb back in and I have instant sound.Sound clarity is amazing! I can hear both low bass and high treble that I thought my headphones just couldn't produce. Video games, movies, and music all sound great, and if you need a mic, the clarity of your speech is outstanding!Overall design and quality is top notch! The usb houses all the electronic and has a cap for the connector for when you take it on the road with you.I highly recommedn the Creative Sounblaster X-FI Go! for gamers on the go!

I have a inspiron 1545 laptop and I had just bought the Logitech z623 sound system. It just wasn't as loud and didn't sound as good as i thought it should have. I plug this thing in, and everything sounds much better and even louder. I was a bit skeptical but it really does make everything sound better. Great product.

I wanted an improvement over crappy notebook sound card but sound quality of this USB stick is really poor. Just like several other reviewers I was hearing annoying distortion noise, most noticeable at low single notes, which kills all the enjoyment.Another disappointment is CMSS-3D, or lack of it. I love this effect in X-Fi Elite Pro when using headphones, but 3D effect emulation in this card is nowhere near that level and sounds like a completely different effect, which just decreases sound quality even more.I wouldn't recommend it for those who are looking for improved sound quality - any regular sound card sounds better.

I wanted 5.1 in my headset without spending over $100 on a headset. I wanted a USB solution that I could use a headphone splitter with. Most USB headsets are integrated into the headset and do not use dongles. I wanted something that had an equalizer. I wanted something I could use on multiple machines.If these comments are similar to what you are looking to achieve, this is a GREAT product. Very good build quality. Accompanying software is actually quite good and useful - although I would like some more tweek options it is good for the price.This periodically goes on sale so don't buy it for forty bucks. I was able to find it at a local big box for a similar price to here.There are other solutions like this SIIG has one that looks okay and then there are a bunch of knockoffs. Stick with the SIIG or this. I have not used the SIIG but it has a c-media chip in it which is bound to be pretty nice. The Plantronics headsets has a similar unit and I have used it. This product is FAR superior in so many ways. From what I can tell, this is the only one that comes with the tweeking software and it is well worth it for that.

I am NOT an audio buff. I think people that say MP3s recorded at 128 bit rate sound much worse than MP3s recorded at 220 bit rate up in the night and need professional help.I got this because I recorded all my music (around 14,000 songs) to a hard drive and I am using an old PC hooked up to my home stereo solely as a jukebox. The problem I had is the quality of sound from the sound card made the music sound a little tinny even to my ears. I don't have a lot of money but I wanted to find a way to improve the sound and this was the solution. Using this the sound is much more full. The lows are lower and everything sounds amazing.There may be those out there who think that a different model that costs 5 times as much sounds better but I can't imagine how. Save the money and get this unless you have hearing like Superman or if you think that only expensive things work best. My MP3s that are recorded at 128 bit rate sound awesome.

Being no audiophile, I was fairly satisfied with this unit when using it with loudspeakers. However, when I started listening to classical piano music through headphones I noticed that the sound was actually quite dreadful. The bass distorts and creates annying high overtones. Not good enough. Now I'm buying the ASUS Sonar U3, which according to some online reviews is better. I wish I could afford a true high end unit. Oh well.Edit/update: Satisfied with new Asus unit so far. Good sound through headphones, and better software. Not high-end sound obsiously, but good for the price.

The general sound quality is quite good, but unfortunately notes that are too low cause a very annoying "chirping" effect - basically part of the bass note turns out as high-pitched noise.I tried with several different headphones just to make sure (headphones that work perfectly well with other sound cards), fiddling with the equalizer and the other settings, and I also tried a replacement, but the problem is always the same. In the end I had to return the product. On a side note, Amazon return and replacement policies are quite awesome.

Creative did a pretty bang up job with this device.Pros:-Sound quality is pretty good in games and decent in music. (Creative makes a couple other devices for USB that do the same thing better but they are both much larger and not really portable.)-Size (about the same size as a flash drive)-The virtual surround is solid.-Decent customization in the drivers.-Creative includes a short extension cable for times when you don't want or can't have the device sticking out of the side of your PC.-Works in penguin land (I plugged it into my SLED machine and it was detected right away.)Cons:-In typical Creative fashion the driver install process is horribly tedious and takes about an hour to get all of the applets installed and updated. (The process will involve about a half dozen reboots to do it properly)-Creative didn't include Gaming Mode in the drivers. I don't know why Creative will only put Entertainment Mode on their USB sound interfaces but I wish they would.If you have a laptop and want something other than a USB headset this is the way to go. You can use any headset and any 2.1 speakers you want which works out nicely. I am currently using this on an M11x.

This unit makes my little speakers sound a lot better, but if you don.t register you will be bugged to death. And if you try to register at a later time it won.t let you but it will haunt you continually even if you uninstall the program.

For now, I just wanted to comment on how it "works" with a Mac, for those interested.There are obviously no drivers or anything, so you won't be able to install the software.However, you can plug the USB stick and then under System Preferences and sound, you will see the small soundcard as an option, so you can set it up there and it will work. However, don't expect much from this little thing.The Good:You can make it work on a MacIt is small, portable*I'll set it up with my windows HTPC in the next weeks and comment further on it.*The Bad:- No discernable sound improvement. I have Senheiser HD 280 Pro, headphones (high quality) and couldn't notice any different across a wide variety of music using the built in soundcard (iMac) or the creative card.- If you set it up for "speakers" a lot of the OS X functions with Expose don't work so if you want to use it for your speakers on a Mac, forget it.However, if you set it up for headphones, then all the expose and normal commands work - so for your headphones in OSX, these can work fine.Overall I wasn't impressed, but I will updated with more information on Windows in the coming weeks. Just wanted to share my Mac experience.

This Creative Soundblaster "X-Fi Go!" makes a surprising difference in the quality of the sound on my Compaq CQ60 laptop. The native sound on the CQ60 can only be described as "flat", so listening to music or watching DVDs was a somewhat disappointing experience. The X-Fi Go! is a little bigger than a standard USB thumb drive and includes a short USB extension cable to make connecting it a little less cumbersome.Setting up the X-Fi Go! was very straight forward following the included Quick Start Guide, but did require two reboots to get everything working properly. The laptop now uses the X-Fi Go! when it is connected or reverts to the internal speakers when it is removed. A quick test of the Microphone input showed that the quality was also significantly improved over the internal Mic.Using the X-Fi Go! has made a substantial improvement, with the sound being closer to what I get out of my home theater system. I will not use it all the time, but when watching a movie with a "big" music score or listening to my music on iTunes it will be my first choice.Highly Recommended!CFH

After years of subjecting myself to the sound generated by my laptop's on-board sound card, I decided to upgrade. I didn't research this extensively, I was looking for an external sound card - not too expensive, not too cheap, but with good reviews. I can say that this was easily worth the purchase price. Playback off my laptop is so much more improved, and the X-Fi comes with Home Entertainment software that enhances more than just EQ, but can be used for tweaking the clarity and surround sound qualities of recording (even for headphones and 2.1 speakers). A slightly bug-bear for me is figuring out a healthy volume. With my laptop's built-in card I could crank the levels all the way to the top and then attenuate the volume on my speakers; however, with this sound card everything seems exceptionally loud, and I cannot turn the overall volume much over 50% without hammering my ears (in the case of my headphones) or distorting my speakers.

This little soundcard is easy to set up, and works great. I simply plugged it into my Windows 7 Notebook computer and it installed itself in a matter of seconds. Go into the Windows Soundcard menu and select this soundcard, and away you go. I did subsequently insert the installation disk, but this unit appeared to work fine even without it. Installation could not have been easier.The card works as advertised with no problems encountered whatever. Excellent sound from my little notebook computer, suitable for driving a small pair of powered speakers or headphones. The physical design of this card is great; it resembles a little thumb drive, just insert it in a USB port and you are good to go.A neat thing about this card is that you can plug it into a USB hub and then plug the speaker jack into it there. This makes for a neater arrangement than plugging the speaker into the computer itself by getting these connections out of the way.After listening to several movies through this little gem, I must say I am impressed. I would give this one six stars if I could.Does the job. RJB.

If you are planning to use this sound card with an earphones, DON'T bother.It's okay with speakers but, with earphones, I hear a weird buzzing noise from my right ear.It sounds like a grass hopper flying.I can see that someone has already complained about it.If you hear some weird buzzing sound, disabling all sound cards except x-fi go helps a bit. It doesn't completely eliminate the noise though.Bad choice for sensitive earphones, descent for speakers.I'm leaving 2 stars because I assume majority of consumers will use this sound card for their laptops hooked with earphones.

I have an almost 3 year old Compaq Presario CQ60 with terrible sound, so I was excited to try out the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Go to see if I could get some noticeable improvement for watching movies or occasionally listening to music. I'm happy to report that my sound quality is now considerably better in all aspects.Setup was absolutely no problem at all - I was ready to test the product out less than 3 minutes after opening the package. After getting everything ready to go, I tested it out with both my plug-in speakers and my earphones. In each instance, with both videos and music, there was a noticeable difference over what I'm used to hearing from my Compaq. Much more crisp and involved audio than what the CQ60 is capable of producing on its own. For the asking price, this little gadget is an absolute bargain purchase, recommended for anybody with lackluster or fried sound issues.

Using this with a Gateway SX desktop PC for over 6 months. Playing through a stereo receiver and full-size headphones there is no background (power supply) noise.Good: The THX sound processor "Crystalizer" actually improves the sound of Pandora internet radio when set to 33%. I disabled the other THX settings for "Surround" and "Speaker".Bad: 1. Cost. I wonder if the under $20 USB sound devices are as good. 2. Other supplied Creative software is a Trial version only. The sound recorder software is not worth paying for. Soundblaster cards used to come with good free software.

Per the review posted by nwavguy.blogspot.com - the X-Fi go measures pretty well in multiple respects relative to its price point. However, the degree of audible hiss when used with low impedance headphones/iem's is considerably worse than the onboard sound in my laptop. I'm contemplating a return for this reason.

I lost sound on my lap top I was told I would have to replace mother borad or get a new laptop I didn't want to replace it, it still worked good so I tried sound blaster X-FI Pro USB I was really doughting it's ablity but after I installed it I was really suprised it was better than OME really like it so much got another one for spare.

The audio jack on my netbook stopped working, so I was looking for a usb sound card as a quick, cheap fix. This one worked okay. I don't think there was any improvement in sound quality over my netbook's original sound card, but it was definitely louder (which was nice because the volume wasn't so great with headphones before). However, there were some problems with hissing, stuttering, and delayed sound. The delayed sound was a particular problem because I use a screenreader because of vision problems and the sound delays made the screenreader almost useless. But the delay was not really noticeable at all with most other programs, like for playing music or audio files. I also thought this usb sound card came with too much unnecessary software. Maybe the software would be useful for someone who's actually doing sound editing or something, but it's a lot of software to install if all you need is more volume or a way to bypass a broken audio jack. In the end, I ended up buying the Turtle Beach Amigo II, which installs very quickly and doesn't come with any additional software. And most importantly, it doesn't have the problems with the hissing or delayed sound.

Pretty slick little gadget - I often use my netbook for music while on the road, and I can tell the difference in mp3 output when I listen via headphones or small speakers. It makes my music experience a lot better, and I'm glad for this. It's an inexpensive way to add a little punch to your laptop. I don't know if I'd keep it in all the time, but it's a nice thing to keep in your laptop bag.A few things that would make it better: 1) Having the device mount as a USB drive, with storage (slip in a MicroSD?) would increase the utility of it. And including the drivers/system software on the device would be better. Sure, I don't need the management software because Windows 7 automagically detected it, but it would be nice.

Well this is my 2nd X-Fi Go(i broke the first 1 :p) and i must say Creative simply makes the best sound cards ever ...The product quality is awesome...and the sound omg....its the best..blv me its the best...i am a professional gamer and i need to attend lot of LAN Events...and i cant take my PC everywhere (on which i have another creative sound card) so this thing just works fine for me...I Can carry it like a pendrive in my pocket..Easy to install and gives great sound even on age old computers,.there are many other usb sound cards available in the market but none matches the sound quality of this wonderful creative product....Blv me if u r a music lover...or want great sound quality on the go...laptop/gaming events etc...this one is for u......oh btw make sure u use some great earphones/headphones with it....Creative --> Best Ever....!!5 Stars...!!

I bought this sound card to replace the sound card integrated into my motherboard when it blew. I chose it because it is a good quality, easy fix to my problem. I was not disappointed in the quality, ease of installation, or in the ease of use. The one problem I have with it is an unforeseen incompatibility with my primary means of volume control.I have a Logitech gaming keyboard with volume control right above the keypad. When I have the X-Fi Go! enabled as my audio device, I can turn the volume up with the keyboard, but I can't turn the volume down with the keyboard. I must open the volume control in Windows to control the volume, or use speakers with built-in volume control. Inconvenient, but it won't keep me from using the devices involved.

Well, this is my first purchase off of of this site, and I have to say that I am one satisfied customer. At first, I was skeptical of buying anything off the internet, but buying this product put my mind at ease. The Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Go! is a great piece of technology. Since my headphone jack on my laptop is broken, I decided I'd buy this product. All you need to do is plug and play into a USB port. (You don't even have to install the software, from my experience.) The sound clarity is great. It does run with Windows Vista and XP, as of now, I'm running Vista. At the moment I have a 5-way headphone splitter plugged into it for my Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Sound speakers. The software that it comes with is good for playing around with the frequencies, but it'd be best just to mess with the equalizer on Windows Media Player or whatever other software you use, however, the software does allow you to do that too. I haven't tried out the headset yet, since I don't have the need to. Great product, great price. Overall, I wanted this product for great sound quality and I got it. No static or noise in the background.

The background static noise is very annoying. It become very obvious when a song fade out. While my internal audio works without any problem.

I got a pair of Beats by Dre Studio for a gift, and when listening on my laptop I was very underwhelmed. So i headed over to best buy and listened to other laptops, and the HP's with the beats by dre soundcard sounded the best, but almost all laptops sounded better than my 3 year old laptop. I wanted something that could unleash the benefits of my new headphonse without having to purchase a new $700+ laptop. I searched [...]and found this little gadget that I picked up at best buy for $40. Just go get it. Sound is way better than on board laptop sound. Thank you Sound Blaster!

Works great on one machine not on another. Sound is distorted on Desktop Win 7 desktop machine. But it sounds great on Win 7 laptop machine. Good shipping (Quick) and good packaging.

It's always wonderful when a device is truly plug and play. This soundblaster quickly installed on my PC using Windows 7. The sound quality was improved on my headphones when playing Call of Duty 4. I am able to hear more events going on around me and use lower volume as result. This alone makes it worthwhile.
