I was toying with getting new computer speaker for a new desktop computer I was building. I was installing an upgraded soundcard with 24 bit/96kHz capability and wanted to get the most out of the enhanced capabilities. I get regular offers from Creative because of the computer audio devices I have purchased over the years. I received a special offer from Creative for the T30s that looked interesting, but decided to check Amazon before buying to see if the deal was really that good. In doing so I discovered these speakers and the second mid/low range driver and small extra cost over the T30s convinced me to give them a shot. Upon receipt, I set them up with another computer and ran a 7 day break-in just running iTunes (I have 8 days worth of music on that system so I just selected the first track and hit play). I would periodically adjust the volume and they played day and night in my shop for the week. As the days passed I was impressed with the clarity and dynamics as well as the surprising bottom end. These are afterall just self powered computer speakers. By the week's end I was thoroughly taken with them and they sound even better now connected to the newly finished computer with better audio capability. I would highly recommned them to anyone looking to spend up to several hundred dollars on computer speakers. I've heard the Audioengine speakers and these are smaller and would give them stiff competition in absolute sound quality.

First of all, I had worked in the technical end of several well known audio industry companies for 26 years, and had experienced the finest sound systems available in our professional sound rooms. Owned several of them along the way too! These small speakers are not intended to fill a large listening area with big sound, small systems of this type just don't have the guns for that sort of thing and never will. They need to be evaluated for smooth, even reproduction of all types of music, both instrumental and vocals, at reasonable volumes. If you are a fan of heavy base content RAP or Hip Hop, these are not going to be your choice.I have them set-up on small wall mounted shelves, spaced about 3 - 3-1/2 feet apart, with my computer flat screen in between. My sitting position working at my computer desk is about 2-1/2 feet in front. Imaging and phasing accuracy is excellent and distortion is very low until you try to fill the room with high volume (again, a weakness with any small speaker). Frequency response is about as specified to my ears and I don't really miss a sub-woofer in this case because they tend to over emphasize the base and disrupt the overall balance and smoothness of the system. If you want extra base and treble to enhance he low volume listening experience, the tone controls on the right speaker are more than adequate.My 5 star rating is not because these are perfect speakers, it's because they are the best Iv'e ever heard for their intended use (computer speakers), especially for the money. I have just purchased these computer speakers. I am using them with about 4 other speakers. The other two are standard computer speakers with a micro stereo hooked up to them as a subwoofer. Using those 4 as my right front and left front on a 4/4.1 speaker setup. Then I have these Creative's that I just purchased. I have positioned them sort of high on the shelf of a Hoosier Table that is positioned behind my computer station. However, the Creative speakers angle upward. So the whole time that I am testing the sound I am not at all impressed with the range or the sound or the base. To be honest I was saying to my self that when I bought the micro stereo (7 years ago) I paid about a little more than the cost of these computer speakers and the sound is fuller.But, then I stood up and faced the speakers and stood about where the designed angles of the Creatives where directing the sound and I was very impressed. Unfortunately not able to adjust the angle so that it points a bit down to where I am seated. I bought these instead of going with monitor speakers [got some MIDI equipment] (which are kind of what the micro stereo speakers are) and passed on my well comprehended knowledge of the quality of Logitech computer speakers. I must say that I am not disappointed, however. I think that I am going to replace the two standard computer speakers being used in the front with the micro stereo speakers with another pair of Creatives.

When I first turned on these speakers I was underwhelmed. The bass was audible but had no presence. The mids were weak. Equalization was all over the place. More than a few reviews mentioned that these speakers need a break in period. They do. After about two weeks of listening to them they finally settled into the sweetest sounding speakers I think I've ever had. The bass is strong and punchy, and I do like a lot of bass in my music. The mids and highs are smooth. They sound like floor standing speakers. Really. I thought my Logitech Z4's sounded good until I compared them with the T40's. The bass will not rattle the windows but I don't want that anyway. They do require some equalization, but there aren't many speakers that don't. They only go down to 50hz but then some sub-woofers don't go that low. Z4's go down to 35hz but the T40's sound so much better to my ear. Give them time to burn in. I use them as my main speakers in a mid sized living room and they do the job just fine.If you really like to hear the bass and do not have an equalizer, I would not recommend them.If you do have an equalizer, here is what I found to work the best. Turn the bass on the speakers to the middle. That's right. They can't handle their own bass boost. Cut all bands to -12 except: 50hz 0, 125hz -6, 20hz -8. This should make a flatter response. You will have to turn up the volume more, but they should sound pretty sweet.

I used to have a yamaha surround sound system while I was living with my parents and that was great. When I moved into my house I was looking for a set of amazing speakers that didnt require 10 wires like a surround sound system and that still had a semi-small profile. I was considering the T40's and the T20's. I figured for a little bit more I would just spring for the T40's because the reviews said the bass was better in these. I'm super happy I did. I set these things up today and theyre awesome. The bass is really deep considering there is no external sub (which I like). Theyre about 1 foot tall which is slightly larger than I was expecting but I really dont mind.Another review complained about the volume/bass/treble knobs not being knurled (no grips) and I noticed that it was a little bit slippery as well. But honestly I really dont see myself using the speaker knobs to control volume anyway. I set my settings and I pretty much leave them and use windows/my keyboard to control volume so Im happy with that.Headphone jacks on the front of the right speaker and Aux in are always a nice feature.Amazing sound. glad i got the T40s instead of the 20's.

These speakers are Unexpectedly BIG but have a good sound and volume. Materials are NOT cheap. I listen to a lot a bass music and that is the reason I got these instead of the Bose companion 2 . In the back of the right speaker there is only one input connection, The Bose have two simultaneous connections in the back that you can use for 2 devices; the Creative have one Aux in in the back and one on the front but I wont connect anything on the front, because that does not look good. In general I think these are very good speakers. I bought them from Amazon for $89. The next day they went up to $116.I also bought these speakers because they are not to common and also because I did not want to deal with all the cables of a subwoofer. Now, if these speaker continue to sell at around $120 aprox and you don't mind dealing with a third speaker (Subwoofer) then I suggest you take a look at the Harmon/ Kardon Sticks III.Finally only I can say is that I am very satisfied with the purchase in terms of price and quality. I research for laptop quality/budget friendly speakers for a while, online and at Bestbuy and these were the best I could get for the money. I wish they were smaller but I guess that is the price I have to pay if I want some decent sound and bass.

I purchased these speakers not only because of the reviews but they presented with the exact dimensions I needed for each to fit into an individual compact space heretofore occupied by the speakers they replaced. What a find! Combined with a USB Turtle Beach Amigo II sound card and headphone/powered speaker port output along with an external mic input port, my iMac cranks some tunes! I'm into jazz and blues, and these speakers are perfect. The range of high, mid tone, and bass is phenomenal for such a small package. Further, Amazon had them for much less than other sellers on Amazon. Combine that with a great price on the sound card and free shipping! Value for the money can't be beat. If you're still using your iMac internal speakers, treat yourself to one helluva freakin' upgrade!

I purchased these speakers because I like to watch TV episodes and movies on my computer before I sleep as I do not own a television.Previously I only had a pair of Sennheiser HD 518 Headphones (Black) and laying down and watching TV on my computer became troublesome as they're so big and I like to lay on my side.I live in a house of 8, so large amounts of bass at night isn't good, nor do I really want a huge sub-woofer on the floor clogging up already what limited space I have in my room.After reading the other reviews on this site for this product, I was sure this is what I wanted and needed.Item came in a very sleek box and was easy to take out of, set up was hassle free as well, just place your speakers on your desk, plug in the little power-supply it comes with, plug in the stereo jack into your sound card, set and done. easy as pie.I like the way they look, very sleek design, I didn't use the foot mounts that came with it though, I found them unnecessary.They feel very heavy and sturdy as well, which is a bonus because I don't like flimsy feeling speakers.The bass is just enough for rock/country. Some hip-hop/rap songs sound better on this than they did on my old Z-5300e set up. Not all though, bass heavy rap songs still feel like there's something missing, They sound good for movies and television.All in all, they're good speakers however you need to tweak the treble and bass to fit your needs, I find my self tweaking the knobs on the speaker depending on what song i'm listening to. I have an HTI Omega Striker sound card with a customizable EQ as well, I've got it sounding pretty good and I am happy with this purchase

For a set of Computer speakers they are not bad.Need a little time to burn is as another reviewer has stated.Creative should have opted for 4 inch drivers. At lower levels the bass is ok.They are nice speakers for what they are. but certainly anyone buying these has room on the desktop.So they would have gained so much in the bass area with the extra inch and better suspension material.The plastic enclosure's show up somewhat in the playback of music. Better suspension material would have really paid off.That said....They do sound nice with many types of music. I get amazed at the air leaving the top bass ports.If you are not going to try and rock the room you will be fine with these. But if you are looking for something toknocked the walls, these are not for you.Actually they are at a nice price point. Much more and I would have opted for a real amp and a pair of bookshelf speakers.

I simply couldnt be happier they have saved me space on my desk, i had an old bulky 5.1 set with a sub woofer sitting on my desk since i've been customizing my PC and had to get a bigger case i ran out of space. I saw these and wanted to get them. After using them they are loud very loud, the base is great, however my 5.1 with a sub woofer had more thump, but its to be expected. the quality is great, the build and sound quality a great. i feel they are worth the money for me but i think the smaller set would have done just fine, i would recommend these to anyone

When Christmas came this year, I asked "Santa" to bring me some decent speakers for my Mac laptop. Did a lot of reading regarding brands, and Creative T40's Series II kept coming up at the top of the list. I wanted a fairly accurate set of speakers without a sub, since I like to listen to studio mixes on different speakers around the house, without the bass hype of a sub-woofer. The nicest thing about these is the quality they deliver, especially at low listening levels (although you can blast them!). Tone controls are a big bonus and the wiring is simple and uncluttered. Add to that a small footprint and you've got a great addition to your PC setup. Elegant looking and priced far below what you would expect for this kind of quality. I also have a BOSE iPod dock speaker system........and these blow the BOSE system away. Highly recommended!

For the price, these speakers cannot be beat! They produce crisp and clean sound. I own half a dozen pairs of computer speakers, including Logitech and Pioneer brand speakers (I have several offices). I've found that the speakers drive sound much better than anything in the price range. Better even than my Boston Acoustics!I've directly compared these to several other speakers I have, and I can say they perform better than expected. You will not be disappointed. Of course if you want thumping bass, you'll need a bigger speaker, box, and driver to move more air! Don't buy these expecting these to rattle the windows.

I bought these because I wanted to get a serious set of stereo speakers. I upgraded from an older 2.1 logitech setup. I found that the subwoofer was doing nothing but adding to floor space and cord clutter. This fit the bill and I happy I upgraded. The have nice ports on the front for pluggin in my iPod. The are large and heavy but they sound much better than my old ones. Recommended as a great set for someone who wants simple high quality stereo speakers for a computer or just for using attached to an mp3 player.

I bought these to replace a pair of bose mediamate speakers that have served me well for a decade but finally bit the dust.I took one of my mediamates apart to try and fix em, and I noticed that the drivers on these things are as big as the drivers on the mediamates, only they have two drivers instead of the single driver on the bose speakers. Granted. that might not mean very much, but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.They do take a bit of time to warm up.Out of the box, my first impression was that they sounded a bit hollow. A few days later, after I tinkered with the knobs for a bit, and used them heavily, they sound great.They are very big, but in a good way, the footprint on my table was similar to my old mediamates.

small place, crisp sound, perfect.ok 15 words required cause concise doesn't make it any more.damn mba's.2 more words required to say how great these speakers are?damn mba's.really, put my ears right up to them - i am there, live.not high power just crisp sound.i listen to classical, heavy metal, blues, the diff rocks, everything.really, for low power fill a condo with background and smile these are good.

These are the first "computer" speakers that I've purchased. Prior to buying I read other reviews and made the decision to try these. I'm very happy with the quality of sound. I did however connect them with the sub woofer I was using with my last system. They are OK on the lower end by themselves but I wanted a little more thump and these don't have the power or size to get that done alone. I would by again and consider even using the T-20's if space is really tight.If you want to "headbang" with serious thump, I would suggest using a full size home system with a large amp and big speakers.Otherwise I think these are quite sufficient.

These speakers are ruined by the dohdoh bird who added a standby mode to them.They look and sound great but they have a sleep mode just like a computer meaning it falls asleep when it doesn't detect audio to save energy.Here's the bad part, when you click on a youtube video or any other audio source it takes 4 seconds for the speakers to wake up meaning that you just missed out on the first 4 seconds of whatever you wanted to listen to.

Listen to others at the local major store and the T40's were great for their price range. I had budget for Christmas to follow. I recommend looking into the T40's - sounds great !!! Seller was very speedy. Would buy again from them......Doc

I bought a used pair from Canada.I am very pleased with the sound quality.I replaced my old Creative Inspire 4.1 4400 series.I can use these with my desktop or laptop,they are portable.My only surprise was the size(12"height 3"wide 6" deep.I might get Creative GigaWorks T20's for my laptop.I need to do some research on the dimensions. The only caution in purchasing these is be aware of the large size which may render them impractical for use with a laptop.Generally you can't go wrong with this fine product.

The sound quality is pretty good and I am happy with the purchase. But I can't tell if the middle speaker (tweater) is doing anything.However, the screws to fix the bottom plates to the body of the speakers are large and do not fit into the hole at the bottom of the speakers. I don't know how they made such a design/packaging mistake.

I bought these to use at work for lecture presentations or to show videos on a projector.I used them on a Skype lecture where there were 80 seniors in a very large room. They projected well and were clear/loud enough for attendees to hear just fine.

I decided to buy a more expensive set of speakers after getting sick of cheaper speakers sound and them dying so often. These are perfect for me. They angle nicely and are tall which helps the sweet spot for the sound a lot. Also there is a aux and headphone input up front which makes them perfect for quickly switching to headphones. The sound is great and the volume is amazing I could use them for a party if I really wanted to, that's how loud and good they can get.

I've got the T20s and they sound terrific! These having more bass and more power must blow some socks off! Just over $100 and you get the amplifier, bass, treble, and fine speakers. Not many values around like this. I'm tempted to buy the T40s now.
