This is awesome. For a 2.0 system and you can still feel the bass. You save space without sacrificing quality. Good choice for a entry level who want to enjoy a good movie or music at home when your space is limited.

Incredible for the money just how bad these things sounded. Anyone that gave this a good rating hasn't a clue what good audio sounds like or is just plain lying. I have $20 computer speakers that sound every bit as good (bad) as these things. Returned them and going to try the Phillips SPA7210 as an alternative for 1/3 the cost of these.

These speakers are FAR better than the Bose of the same class. Originally lured by the Bose name, I looked into buying a 2.0 system for my desk. Every indication I came across told me to look at Creative, specifically these speakers. I took the chance and was completely blown away.The one thing I will say, which I heard another reviewer on here consider a con and I don't agree, is that the sheer quality of the sound (woven cones and whatnot) will cause you to be much pickier about the kbps of the audio files you play. The best an Mp3 can get is 320, but the vast majority of internet mp3s are much lower, often 128. The reason i don't consider this a downside to making the investment in a far superior system like this is because that obsession really takes you into a new level of listening, if you're a true music lover.Begin by making your computer compatible with FLAC or other Lossless audio files (these are files within the range of about 600 to sometimes 1000s of kbps, and they are the closest a digital file can be to the actual "sound of music," no pun intended. These files are like digital photos taken in RAW format, for anyone who knows cameras) Itunes can be extended to play them, but this can be a little daunting. It is completely worth it. Consider it like being able to download something into a regular TV to make it high definition. Look for a free program called XiphQT.FLAC files can be found in various places on the web. When you play them you will instantly notice the difference in quality. It really isn't worth converting to Lossless audio unless you buy speakers like these, however. Or some really nice studio headphones.

Having owned the GigaWorks T20, the T40 was a natural successor and progression for me. Overall, great sound quality, decent bass, and all around, a very very good set of speakers for people who are on a budget or are constrained by space limitations.I personally have the T20, T40, an iHome (original), and Phillips Fidelio 7550 hooked up together on my desk. In all, the T40's outshine all the other speakers, and really seal the deal for a good listening experience.Definitely recommend!

Today only I received my product and believe me it is one of the most amazing things I've ever bought in my life. After using for 10 minutes the first thing I am dong is "Writing the review".. Superb Bass Excellent Treble. Very attractive look.. Superb design.. BUT the only thing which I feel is worst is its price :). If we see its performance then the price should be very high.At last if your are looking for some decent speakers just go for it. This product will blow u away..

I mostly listen to classical and pop music. I was using a 2.1 system which was fine but I wanted to use that system as a portable for choir practice. These speakers sound better and the separation between right and left channels seems to be better defined than my old speakers...I sing in a choir and our practice tracks are setup so that the part I'm trying to learn is in the right channel only. With my old speakers I'd have to turn the balance almost all the way to the right in order to clearly hear my part whereas with these I can clearly hear my part when the balance is equal between lft and rt. The slight upward tilt of the speakers sends the sound right to my head when I am sitting at the computer. I like that the bass, treble and volume knobs (analog, thank you very much) and the headphone and aux in jacks are right on the right speaker. With the volume knob at half way the sound fills my living space (about 20' by 20') completely and actually as good as my 5.1 system with Bose speakers and a Sony AV receiver. I'm very satisfied.

Extremely suprised at how well these sound and work well for all types of music. Treble is very clear, bass is incredible for the size. I listem to talk shows and my wife prefers music and they do both perfectly. We have these connected to the built in audio on our pc.I would recommend anyone wanting a nice 2.0 system.

I bought these speakers to use for my HDTV. I wanted something that would give me good overall sound quality, not take up a whole lot of space, and also keep down the cost. After browsing the Amazon site for a while, I decided this speaker set was the best bang for my buck. I can honestly say I made the right choice. These speakers are amazing and I'm enjoying them very much. For being just a two speaker set up, the sound quality is very crisp, clear, and dynamic. Gives you the full surround sound feel without a bunch of speakers and a sub woofer. Also, the bass sound simply amazing. You get the clear, distortion-less "booming" effect. For speakers that can be used on your TV for $100 or less, you really can't go wrong with these. Easily the best 2-piece speaker set I have ever purchased. They're worth every penny.

I already had a sub woofer and decent pair of speakers, but I wanted more volume. These speakers were my solution. I like that they have separate bass and treble knobs. The treble range is great and there's no need for me to turn the volume all the way up.They are bigger than I expected but they look pretty sleek.This is my fourth speaker purchase from Amazon, buying better quality each time, and these are in another league. But, as usual, if you want booming bass you're going to need a sub woofer.They were $99 when I purchased 2 weeks ago.

Good product and value. Sound is good, but coming from a 5.1 system, it has taken me some time to adjust to this 2.0 system.Looks, features and sound are on par with what you can expect. Looks pretty and not that as big as other reviewers made it sounds like :)

I've had these for a few weeks. I had two objectives in purchasing speakers for my 27" iMac: improve on the weak, tinny sound quality of the built-in speakers and do so without significant space usage or visual clutter. These are a significant improvement to the built-in speakers, and with the grills inplace, are unobtrusive sitting to the left and right of the iMac on my desk. With regard to the overall sound quality, the bass is a little hollow, but for general listening or movies, they sound good. Other reviews commented on the slickness of the control knobs and the brightness of the blue lightring around the volume control knob. I didn't find either to be a problem for me. I haven't tried the input/output options on the front of the speakers. If you have room for a subwoofer or the budget to spend more, you may find a better option. If you're a true audiofile, these might not suffice. If you want to spend $150 or less to have better itunes listening or occasionally watch a movie, I think value is fair.

So Disappointed. I saw all the positive reviews all over the place for these speakers and thought I would give them a shot at replacing my old Altec Lansing speakers. I plugged them in and UGGhhh! I thought something was wrong. I turned the bass knob and you can barely tell any difference. Nothing but mids and highs, no bass at all. I put my hand on the cabinet and you can feel some vibration, but nothing that makes it to your ear in the form of usable low end.While these speakers are better than what probably comes with your computer, they have no place in reproducing music. They must must be down 20db at 100hz or higher which, like I said, makes them useless for music. Notice there is no +/- frequency db spec. for these. That's because it's too scary to try and sell a product after writing the real performance specs down.They would be great for listening to talk radio or for your Mom, Dad, or Grandma to surf the internet with. They do appear well-made and hey, they look awesome, too.So, I agree with the reviewer named 'Dustin' and state these speakers have no bass at all. Perfect for a subwoofer combo, but useless for music by themselves. Bummer.

With this kind of money, the Klipsch Promedia is infinitely better. The Logitech Z623 is only $3 more, and sound sooo much better as well. Dont bother wasting your money on these.

Geez, why aren't there better 2.0 desktop speakers. I think your happiness with these speakers will be directly correlated to whether you have previously owned the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 2.0. If you have you will be underwhelmed by these speakers. If not you may blindly praise them without knowing what could have been. The drama of the Klipsch is infamous; most amazing 2.0 sound ever with shockingly great, tight bass. But like clockwork every pair was built with the worst controls that were guaranteed to produce scratchy noise when turned, intermittently cut out and ultimately stop playing all together. Owners of these speakers have been forced to search in vain for something with similarly great sound and solid controls.I'm not a big fan of the Bose sound (it seems a bit muddled to me) so I took a chance based on the good reviews and bought these for my work office. I would say they have decent mids and highs and surprisingly lackluster bass given their size. The bass isn't horrible but it's not great either. Again, I'm coming from directly replacing my Klipsch 2.0s, which were noticeably smaller but had much more solid bass and better sound all around. If these Creatives were smaller I might have given them 4 stars but given their size there's no excuse.Klipsch, please fix your supplier problems and reintroduce a new 2.0 with killer sound AND build quality.

Everything about the speaker is top notch. The quality is awesome. I paired them with my Creative X-Fi Titanium sound card and i can hear details i couldn't with normal speakers and the on-board sound card. Thoroughly impressed and satisfied!

I bought these to replace an 8yearold Monsoon 2.1 planar system where the sub/amp died, and they just don't sound as good. Had I not experienced the Monsoons I might have thought these were great compared to non-powered speakers. The bass is weaker, and adjusting the bass tone control just makes them sound muffled. To be fair they ARE 2.0.They look awesome (better without the grills), and i like the blue backlit volume control. Very easy setup.Pros:- Look great- Sound pretty good- Easy set up- 2.0, so no wires all over the placeCons:- Bass doesn't thump- Max loudness could be greater

These are good.Only irritant - they take a while to "Switch on" even when you switch them on. Click. Pause. Pause. Pause. Pause. MUSIC...Also, they are a bit tall, would have preferred more squat, more bass depth to them too.All round, a very good value for money buy. Cables are a bit of a pain though..

I've owned these just over a year now. I a replaced ~8 year old 2.1 system and while I miss my footrest (the subwoofer), these speakers are excellent.The auxiliary in is a nice feature, as my wife's computer doesn't have speakers. She used to have headphones, but now all I have to do is pause my music and she can watch a video without interruption. Or I can watch TV on her computer (tv-capture card on her machine) and have the audio fed out to me!I use these constantly--according to last.fm I listen to 44 tracks a day (which is what, at least 3 hours of music?) plus any movies or youtubing I do--and I've had no problems whatsoever. I keep the bass, treble, and volume constant, for what it's worth.Short of my dog unplugging these accidentally every so often, these have been on since November of 2009!I bought these on a recommendation from a salesman at Fry's. I had to wait like 9 months for the price to come down to where I could afford them (~70-85 I think I paid), but they've been worth every cent.

read a review to pair these up with my macbook (everyone always complaining they can hear movies on my computer and i refuse to get a tv). anyway these things are just great, and i got a good deal of $99 for these. i waited a good 4 years to get a nice pair of speakers and this is definitely it. recommended for mac laptops. now they can be better entertained bcuz it isnt some weak sound coming from my laptop viewings.easy to assemble although some might prefer to put them on the wall.

Right (main) speaker started crackling and then died. Left speaker is still working. Wasn't listening to music at the time. No return emails from Creative. Good speakers while they lasted though.

I got these new t40's about a month ago. They are excellent for quality music from computers and mp3 players, etc. They are bigger than most multi-media speakers, but are worth the price if you have the space. The bass isn't quite there compared to some 2.1's, but they do have decent bass without the hassle of a woofer. I tried them on my samsung 46" inch television and I didn't get the volume I thought I would get, but got plenty of volume from my laptop, desktops,and my ipod. I should say they improve the sound with the tv. I just love them. And they look way cool (-:

pretty good sound quality overall, was considering the m-audios or the $400 mini bose speakers. for the price now, it's reasonable, but never at full price.the bass is fairly light, decent quality, just wish the size was more reasonable for a computer speaker. I wanted something that was good all around and not have to bother with a 2.1 setup, prefer simplicity.I like the knobs on the unit, with an aux in for random music inputs

If you're looking for fairly high quality speakers in the 100-140$ price range these Creative Lab speakers are a very solid choice. The sound quality is excellent- highs and mids are very clear, and the bass is plenty loud and clear. If you want really really crisp base you would want to get speakers with a separate woofer, but these speakers work great if you're not extremely picky. A previous reviewer mentioned that the base doesn't cut it for deep cellos in classical music for example, but I've had no problem listening to my classical music on them. I use these speakers in my dorm room and they get plenty loud. The only thing that surprised me about these speakers when I got them was their depth, but of course there is no woofer which saves a lot of space.Overall great speakers

I was expecting quite a bit from these speakers. The only REAL problem I had was the bass. Obviously, it wasnt going to be as good as if you had a real subwoofer, but it does its job adequately. Other then that, these speakers were a snap to put together, and even easier to install! But they didnt say i needed a male/male video/audio cord, which isnt supplied. But luckily I had a spare~

My home theater set up is the B&W 6 series generation 2 and I am very happy with this set up. But my kid is down in the cave all the time and I end up on my PC more than I'd like for evening entertainment. These guys fill the void nicely without breaking the bank. Yellow cone speakers fill the style need. Sound is full and well rounded at mid level volume on up to louder than I need to listen to them to. What caught my ear about these speakers when I heard them at the store, is the spatial quality of the sound... very transparent! Similar to my B&W's on a much smaller stage scale, and very pleasing. Perfect for what I need them for. They have gone up in price from what I paid off of the same site, so keep an eye out. Seems to be a 25% fluctuation. Very happy with this purchase!

Didn't like it,Really now, they were over priced for the quality of sound. Maybe hooked up to a TV or something else than my PC? I have a pretty nice system not outdated and a descent sound card. They do appear to be made well but were so large on my desk! I'd rather use the space in better ways. The controls are placed well in the front but to close together and not easy to grip. Though I turned the controls to my liking it didnt seem to do very much and the sound was iffy. They didn't last long I took them back the same night.No offense to Amazon - but I couldnt wait to get the Hercules 2.0 30's up and running that I have now for way less than half the price of these. Now those are way KEWL and sound darn good for the money too! (better than the T40's)

I read all the reviews and being an audiophile I was skeptical but decided to purchase and see how it goes.....these are perfect for my application.I bought these for work and I cannot play them loud 95% of the time. They sound better than I thought they would at low levels. The clarity is great, really great at low volume.The set-up was super easy. I think it took me longer to open all the packaging! LOL! I had these up and running within a minute.They are as tall as my Dell 23" monitor and do not take up much space at all. They fit nicely on either side of the monitor and blend right in.The controls are nice right there in front of you with enough room to adjust the tone. I like bass and it sounded great to me thru these speakers.Nice touch adding the blue light around the Volume/on/off dial - not too bright - hardly notice it in the office without lights.Edit: I played these at a louder volume early in the morning before everyone arrived to work and I was impressed with these speakers and the quality of the output that they deliver. Simply awesome speakers!Oh heck yes, I would buy these again!EDIT: Sept 2nd...And......I did buy again...another set for home. They are a great value for the money and they sound great too.

livens up the music that is usually played on my laptop speakers.I thought my v moda headphones gave great pump....these speakers give the music a much bigger bass pump. Of course this is like comparing apples and oranges..speakers & headphones but believe me when i say these speakers rock.I have another speaker set 2.1 with subwoofer and this one sounds like it has a subwoofer. i recommend people use the kmp player and adjust the true bass and treble in that player then combine it with these speakers and you will hear blissful music

I didn't realize how low-quality some of the stuff I listen to is before getting these speakers. Now I can here bass (not *too* much bass, mind, but a reasonable amount) and I have more volume available than I would ever want to use.The main downside is the lack of a power switch. I'd like the option of turning the speakers off and on without changing the volume.

It's a great speaker, I like very much. Nice sound; you can turn on volume to max... it's loud but not distortion. That speakers very different than other ordinary computer speakers and you can set up to tv also. Purchase with amazon.com without any problem. Happy listening.

I bought these speakers to replace a ten year old pair of Altec Lansing speakers with a bum volume control. The Creative speakers do not live up to the hype. They are overly tuned for higher range frequencies due to their small size and the sound quality suffers terribly for it. The speakers are amazingly clear with not alot of distortion even when turned up, but there is almost no bass response whatsoever. If you listen to dance, hip-hop, or anything else that uses lots of bass you will find that most of the music you love is lost with these speakers. Watching movies even becomes hard because you have to constantly change the volume between dialogue and action scenes due to the unevenly weighted sound. 4\5 stars for a $50 pair of speakers, for $140 2\5.

The speakers were bigger than I expected them to be, but I guess you can't big sound without a bigger speaker. The speakers sound great playing iTunes from my computer. Nice bass responce with crisp highs. I recommend these speakers, just make sure you measure before you buy.

I have the first version of these speakers and although there are several updates I doubt they changed how good these speakers sound. I've had the T40s since 11/08 and they have been perfect in sound and function for my use. I use them with an external monitor and macbook so I needed speakers that had good sound as well as a small footprint and these fit the bill. If you want room shaking bass, these are not the speakers you are looking for. However if you are an audiophile that appreciates high quality sound these should be on your list to check out. I let my friend borrow them for a small party and he was shocked how good the sound was out of such small speakers, and the fact that they did not distort when the volume was nearly maxed out! I highly recommend them and hope to get many more years of use out of them.

When first installed them I loved them. Over the next couple days I could pick up a wind like noise coming from the main power speaker. It would go away if I moved the volume knob around. Now after about a week and a half I cant stand to even have them turned on! It's a constant wind like noise coming from that one speaker all the time! I will be sending them back and researching speakers once again.

I bought these speakers because I was looking for a decent 2.0 desktop speaker system with a small footprint. Well, the speakers do have a small footprint, but they are underwhelming in just about every other regard. As far as sound quality is concerned, the upper mids and highs are quite crisp, but overshadowed by a quite resonant and "nasal" upper low end, probably due to some "bass boosting" gimmick. The knobs are very smooth and slippery and a bit too close to the speaker grille, making adjustments awkward. After a few months of occasional headphone use, the headphone jack has become loose, and the sound to my headphones cuts in and out. Wiggling the connection helps, but should I really have to do this for speakers of this price?Don't let the fanboy reviews fool you, and do NOT waste your money on these overpriced speakers.

I was trying to purchase the best 2-speaker setup I could find, with a reasonable price and an all black look. I had also done plenty of research (btw, how silly is it to listen to speaker reviews on youtube...lol). Without the sub, I definitely had my concerns going in, and at first, I wasn't sure if I made a good decision going without the sub. But as others have said, these speakers are sounding better with time. I should've first stated that I'm somewhat picky with sound, but after some adjustments and about a month of break-in, I'm extremely happy with the sound these speakers are putting out. They also look amazing in my all black set-up. As an fyi, and maybe it's just me, but I have the Bass set to about 3 o'clock, and the treble set to about 4 o'clock.

i was worried at 1st to buy off from the net and i was especially worried about getting them used, but for the price difference i decided to take the chance and im glad that i did. they were cheaper than i had even expected to spend already so it worked out good. when i got the speakers they looked just like new. packaged the same n all. i deff feel abit better bout buying stuff inline now @ least i know not everything is to gud to b true. oh n btw the speakers work ammmmazzzzzing LOL - ull have to excuse me now, im in entertainment heaven hehe

I use a pair of these speakers for an Alienware laptop. The sound on these speakers rival most speakers out there to my knowledge in the price range. I don't have extra space for a subwoofer and while the bass is good, it's still not going to provide you with subwoofer level bass, but if you have room for a subwoofer, move on to the T3. For a 2.0 Speaker system WITHOUT a subwoofer, these perfrom and sound better then any other speaker set currently available. I am very pleased with these speakers and have had them for 8 months now. They can get very loud if need be, or they can sound quiet and clear. Either way, the dynamic range and clarity of these speakers are stunning and I am using laptop on-board audio. If you are looking for portable hi-fielity speakers, look no further... these are it!

These speakers disappointed me. I coughed up the extra $$ thinking I would get what I paid for, not the case here. I was expecting decent sound from this model. The bass and midrange is completely flat making every type of music sound like the same washed out song. Tweaking the bass and treble on the speakers along with my sound cards equalizer settings made things from bad to worse. These are bass reflex speakers ported out the top. I think creative needs to go back to the drawing board on the bass porting dynamics. Bose has proved you can get BIG bass and true linear sound out of a very small package. Also size is misleading, these speakers are BIG. They stand 13 inches tall and take up more desk space then the notebook they hook up too! I can't recommend these speakers.

I bought these speakers because of excellent reviews and the fact I wanted a 2.0 system not having room for a sub-woofer. My previous speakers, Klipsch Promedia Ultra 2.0, lost function in the volume control so that any adjustments resulted in static and loss of the right speaker. These Creative speakers are slightly larger, have very smooth controls, and independent bass and treble adjustment. They are solid, well built, and well packaged. I am not a "boomy bass" lover and primarily listen to opera and classical music with a little country occasionally. These speakers have excellent mid range, treble, and presence, but the bass fall off is severe and far more than expected in speakers this size and price. The fall off is severe enough to very adversely effect the tonal quality of sopranos as well as tenors. The bass control and increasing volume does little to improve the bass. Kettle drums are essentially inaudible and the rich tones of cellos are just not there because of the bass cutoff. My old Klipsch speaks have far better tone and remarkably stronger and tighter bass. Even my $20 ten year old Altecs do better in the bass department.In spite of their quality construction, excellent controls, and excellent mid to high clarity, I would not buy these speakers again or recommend them because of excessive bass cutoff.

WOW... what a punch from such a small package, these speakers far exceeded any expectations I thought I had. To anyone looking for top notch high end speakers look no farther, all you will do is spend more money and not have anything close to these little powerhouses.

I have been using the same PC speakers for 5 or so years. They finally gave out and I had to determine what the best course of action was, another pair of cheap sounding inexpensive speakers or get something decent that will sound good. I elected to stop being so cheap and buy a nicer pair of speakers. These have turned out to be very good quality speakers. Currently I use them mostly for PC gaming and to play music off my iphone when the computer is off through the aux port. The sound quality is fairly good, not excellent but close. I'm not an audiophile but I do like to hear my music clearly and sometimes turn it up loud and it seems to do both very well at lower and higher volumes. Pretty pleased with this set of speakers for the last month or two. Hopefully it continues to be such a positive experience.
