This is a fairly easy printer to set up, even for a girl like me who is not super tech savvy. I literally followed the instruction manual to a T and it worked. My laptop is the 12" gold Macbook running on version 10.11 El Capitan. It took me several minutes to figure out how to enter my wifi password into the printer without the key pad! (just keep pressing the up/down button until you reach a letter you want, then OK).

I ran into the same problem where my laptop couldn't send print jobs to the printer even though it's already connected. I suspect the DEEP SLEEP signal on the screen to be the problem cos who could work in DEEP SLEEP? (or at least that was my reasoning). So I read through reviews to find a way to turn it off. VOILA! It printed right away.

How to turn off deep sleep (I didnt write this but copy it here in case you don't wanna go look for it):

Use arrow buttons to scroll through menu choices...
Go to General Setup then OK
Ecology then OK
SLEEP TIME then OK
While sleep time is display push Down Arrow and BACK at the same time! Then press OK.
DEEP SLEEP on/off toggle by Arrow keys
OK to SAVE Deep Sleep off.

While I was browsing reviews, I came across someone talking about setting the toner to Continue Mode very early on to avoid wasting toner (because once the replace toner signal is on, you can't use up the toner left in there). I thought it was reasonable and did that as well.

Steps: General Setup -> Replace Toner -> Continue

I never write reviews but feel like I should give back since it was the reviews that saved me the stress.

I use these small Brother laser printers around the home and in two offices for individual printers, and a selling point was being able to find generics for the TN660 toner cartridges for as little as $10 for 2,000+ pages.

When I had to add another one, though, the HL-L2350DW appeared to be like any of the older models in the series — with one exception: the TN760 toner cartridges have chips installed on them in an attempt to cut down on the use of generic replacements. Brother has joined the ranks of Epson and H-P in the philosophy of "cheap razors/printers, expensive blades/toner & ink" — and making the cartridges more expensive in the process.

The printer itself works fine, but the DRM on the cartridges is a headache (albeit a minor one.) All that's required is pulling the chip off the old cartridge and affixing it to the new one with double-sided tape.

I'm inclined to sell the 2350 and buy an older model at a higher price so that I may continue to buy TN660 cartridges in bulk and not have to worry about DRM chips.

I have purchased 3 of these Printers.

One for Daughter in College (we have saved $$$ by not needed to purchase as much injet ink)
One for my Home Office (use it for PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads)
One for my elderly Mother and Father who have to futz with their old inkjet printer each time they use it (they're printing from PCs and iPhones).

We all love them. And let’s face it … 95% of what we print doesn't need to be in color.
This printer is fast, prints duplex with ease and the ink cartridge last a long time and it doesn't get gummed up like inkjets do after a period of non-use.

I’m only giving 4 starts since in the beginning I had issues with iOS devices not finding the printer. I’m not intimidated by technology - but this took a lot of digging to figure out. Now that I’ve finally got the iOS issue resolved these printers are perfect for our needs.

This is what I’ve done to make these printers work well with iOS devices:
- First - Do Not use the WPS connection mode. Use a Printer USB cable connected to a computer to set up the wifi on this printer. Make sure you find your SSID and enter your wifi password.
- Turn off Deep Sleep Mode (google for instructions or find in another review of this printer)
- Extend the sleep time (mine are at 50min)
- Set Auto Off at 1hr (not sure if this is needed but I suggest it anyway, it will not power off since it will be asleep before the hour comes up)
- Once all this is done … power-down the machine and restart it.

****** Update *******

I found that the printer sometimes goes away and is not discoverable by my Apple devices and the printer must be rebooted.
However there seems to be a fix for this as well. If you enable IPv6 Protocol on the printer it is always visible to my Apple devices.

Warning this is not for the faint of heart but should be is easy enough for the average user.

Step 1)
First you must find your printer's network IP Address. Do this by printing out the Printer's Network Configuration.
On the Printer:
Push the Up Key (+) until you see Machine Info. Displayed and Press OK
Push the Up Key (+) until you see Print NetSettings and Press OK
A Network Configuration Page will print. On this print out you will find the IP Address (should be something like this 10.0.0.XXX

Step 2)
Open a Browser on your computer and input this URL: http://<printer_IP_Address>
This will open up the web configuration interface

Follow this navigation to enable IPv6:
Network Tab > Protocol
Click on the Advanced Settings link for AirPrint
Click on IPv6 (Wireless)>>
Select IPv6 as Enabled and make the selection to Enable this Address (no need to fill anything out) and click on the Submit button

The Printer always shows up as an available device in all our Apple and IBM devices.

I have always had ink jet printers and still have one for color but wished I had thought of a laser years ago. Love the easy double sided feature and that you can do whole bunch of copies without replenishing toner. Would recommend using a usb cable to set up initially even though it is air print and wireless. I struggled a bit but once I had inserted the cd and used the cable it was easy. Very compact. Easy to move to another location if more convenient once set up.

I had an older version of this when I was at school. It allowed me to print all of my class notes, readings etc at at really reasonable price. I never had any problems with it. After school I passed this along to my sister and regretted it SO much. I finally broke down and bought this and don't regret it at all. It was super easy to set up (for printing from both my computer and cell phone). I have printed a bunch with the cartridge provided and it still has lots of life left. It is small enough to fit in my office drawer and prints quickly. Everything I need for a personal use printer.

The one negative is that there is absolutely NO customer support from Brother. I tried to register the project and their website is a joke. Literally there is not a single way to contact them listed - no phone number, no email address, no online chat or form options. I have no words for that.

Overall, I would give the printer 5 stars and the customer service 0 stars. Luckily I haven't needed any support so it isn't tainting my overall rating too much but seriously, Brother???

Worked as described. It is definitely Appleprint friendly and works well with our Mac, iPads and iPhones.

Setup went well but I knew I was in for a ride when the duplex printing failed the first time I tried. After 2 weeks the printer just lost the will to live and stopped working. Very disappointing machine.

printing speed is fast enough for me; print quality is very good; wifi and cable are all good.
But, do not use Brother iPrint & Scan because it will reduce quality, and you can't improve it.
Tuner is not like what they say. TN730 just can print about 500 sides of paper.
Btw, I don't know how can the seller get this produce, but Brother Canada said L2350DW is belongs to US. I'm worrying about the warranty.

I bought this printer to put in an office with Google Chrome OS devices. It took hours on the Brother help line to get it to work as a Google Cloud Printer.

Then I changed my WiFi base, and couldn't install it, again. The return window is closed. I'm going to give it away.

I just bought a Brother MFC-J995DW instead, and it works great.

I hate this printer. I've never hated a printer before, and I've had a few other Brother printers which I've all loved. But this printer gives me so many problems; half the time it fails to print from off the web, the other half from my Word documents or images or whatever i'm trying to print. It is the most frustrating, finicky printer.

so far so good！it's definitely a good deal as an entry level laser printer. Printing speed is pretty fast, noise level quite low, and the Printing quality for text and document is excellent. However, its performance on images and pictures are somehow mediocre, so the details won't be that clear. Overall meets my expectation, and the double side printing works well and fast as well

Love this printer when it works. All the reviews are correct. Fast, clean, ez set up, sleep mode annoying and difficult to figure out. The printer stayed in one place for 10.5 months and just went blank one day - no humming, unplugging, wait times - nothing was bringing it back.. Spent an unusual amount of time going through the same 7-8 steps (online advice and via Brother support) to confirm this printer was a goner. No warning light, no messaging. Died in it's sleep. The warranty covered it's replacement but getting the replacement has been a real chore - going on 2 months since being told the replacement is on the way from Montreal to Toronto.

Its small and compact, easy to set up and prints clearly and incredibly fast. It comes with a starter toner that lasts for about 700 pages. It is wireless and very user friendly. Great product!

This printer was easy to setup with the electronic devices (including smart phones) in my house. The power consumption of the printer is so low when "sleeping" that I just leave it on all the time....makes it easier to print on demand. Hope it lasts as long as my previous HP laser did -- 15 years and counting! I would still be using the HP, but it did not have wireless capability so I gave it to my daughter.

Very simple setup via onboard screen. Fast, double-sided printing with excellent output quality. This is a compact printer so it takes up very little space compared to other home office printers. We are very happy with this printer and it’s cost effective.

La Brother HL-L2340DW cumple ese papel: es una impresora sencilla, que da una calidad de impresión más que decente, que imprime a doble cara, que es fácil de instalar y que funciona con WiFi. Este último punto -la WiFi- es muy interesante porque uno no siempre tiene hueco para colocar la impresora al lado del sitio donde tiene el ordenador... o, ahora que la movilidad es esencial, ni siquiera tiene un sitio especial para el "ordenador" porque es un portátil o una tablet o incluso un teléfono. Y esta impresora funciona con PCs con Windows, Macs, iPhones, iPads, y Android. Con Linux no he probado pero, por lo que leo, también funciona sin problema.

Muy recomendable.

Printing forms and information, the fact it does double sided printing saved me mountains of paper - it was a great investment

This is the ideal travel printer if you do a lot of mobile printing. The cost is great, the print quality is very good. Relatively small footprint and fairly light weight. Best of all you don't have to worry about the ink drying out.

I bought this for personal home printing during WFH due to COVID-19 situation and it prints with adequate quality
it was hard to connect to my wifi network at first and because my password is quite long for a wifi network it was hard to enter the password.
I could not connect using the easy smart connect on my Wifi modem.
but other than that it works well.

4 star (one star less than perfect) for limited info of the manual and app.

Was up and running on wi-fi in less than 10 minutes.
Replaces a Brother 2240 which refused to turn on despite trying
every trick I could find on the net. Lasted about 3 years -- hope this one runs longer.
(Note: no cable included if you want to plug it into your computer)

The whole family can now print from various Apple devices to this printer thanks to its AirPrint capability. The printer quality is good and the automatic double-sided printing will save a lot of paper.

Great for the price. Only issue is it sometimes fails to print from my Android phone. I may need to restart the process from my phone. I'm using the brother android plugin so not sure why it's happening. No issue printing from laptops.

followed the instructions and set it up with our wifi in a few minutes. No issues, printed from ipad and iphone which we could never do with our last printer, which was an inkjet Brother about 2 years old. That one was always out of ink, so we changed to a laser where we have always had more luck with toner.

L'unica pecca, se si può dire, e che potevano aggiungere una porta ethernet o usb, la prima accensione può non essere così facile. Per il resto brother è una garanzia di qualità ed è facile trovare i toner di qualità a prezzi decenti.

The included toner runs out very fast, and it’s not economic to buy anither toner from Brother. I bought 2 Linkyo toner from anazon fir less than 40 bucks. They last a lot more.

Have used mine for a few years. Seems to be durable. Easy to operate. Prints turn out well. Way more cost efficient than a bubble ink jet printer (if you care to print only in B&W).

Had no success in trying to connect this with my Acer laptop. The model # was not recognized. Very frustrating. Can anyone recommend where to find a solution<

This printer is a pain in the ass when you change a wifi. You had to call the help line and download the firmware again, which requires a special JavaSE software that you have to go to Oracle's website and download it. Then you have to update your firmware. Then you have to go to print settings to change the deep sleep mode time setting because the default setting is 1min. And after 1 min you won't be able to print anything because the printer will pick up jobs. Your computer will say "Looking for printer... uncle to find printer" and the printer is in "deep sleep" mode. So you have to turn the printer off and turn it on to get it out of the deep sleep mode. It's PAIN in the ass.

Good printer but poor WiFi setup instructions, works great once set up. Nice to get the ink jet printer cartridge monkey scam off my back.

Printer arrived with the box punctured but the printer was not damaged. Set up was easy, happy that we do not have to hook up to printer using cable. Prints from iPhone, iPad, mac/PC computers flawless.

J'ai malencontreusement mis hors service ma vieille Brother HL 2030 en posant des livres sur l'imprimante, en les oubliant et en envoyant un tas de documents à imprimer ...Bref, celle-ci la remplace, est hi-fi et fonctionne parfaitement en impression via AirPlay pour mes macs ainsi que 2 ipads . Je me suis un peu mélangé les pinceaux au début en pensant que cette imprimante pouvait être à la fois branché en USB et fonctionner en WiFi, ce qui n'est pas le cas, c'est l'un ou l'autre . Elle est plus légère que l'ancien modèle, plus compacte aussi . J'ai choisi ce modèle non pas pour le recto/verso mais pour le tiroir qui met les feuilles A4 à l'abri de la poussière . Je n'ai pas essayé mais, d'après la documentation , elle s'éteint seule mais il faut appuyer sur le bouton d'alimentation pour la mettre en route alors que le vieux modèle se mettait en route seul à l'impulsion de l'envoi du document à imprimer .

Like that I can print from my iphone and my computer via wifi.
Don't like all the warnings about emissions.

within 200 dollars, laser printer, way better than the jet one I used to use at home. my wife use it everyday now for printing

As a professional paint-drying-watcher, my life involves sitting on couches, staring at the white walls, and occasionally adjusting the volume on my television set. And, of course, watching paint dry. My friends (well, my mother) tells me I need more excitement in my life. This printer surely fits the bill. When I try to print my adult-coloring book pages, my blood pressure always goes up as I look at this thing, uncertain if the next page will print. The first page printed ... why is the printer now suddenly offline? I can't even finish my mayonnaise-on-white bread sandwich! One especially tense afternoon resulted in the 0a error, which means catastrophic hardware failure. Brother support apparently has more problems with this printer than they can handle, the poor dears, so they sent me a new one and said I could keep the old one (which was all of 3 months old).

The replacement came in. I excitedly opened the box. Finally, I can do my adult coloring! I looked forward to my unicorns. (You should see the castles I colored last month. Anyway.) To my dismay, the replacement tells me there is a paper jam. Funny, I don't recall putting any paper in the printer to begin with. Since I filled the previous printer with dirt to make a small flower pot, I am open to suggestions on what to do with this one.
