Un muy buen artículo que cumple a la perfección lo especificado en la página. Yo había intentando comunicarme con este tipo de radios de dos vías y había tenido malas experiencias por la deficiente recepción que tenían, a pesar de prometer alcances de hasta 15km, pero claro que eso es en línea recta y sin objetos de por medio. En estos radios si se obtiene una comunicación fluida y sin ruido, a pesar de no tener una línea recta entre ellos, y a pesar de tener edificaciones de por medio, la mayor distancia en que los he probado así hasta ahora, es de 7km y mantienen una comunicación muy clara. El acabado es de muy buena calidad, muy resistentes y con muchas funciones que para alguién como yo que no necesita cifrar tanto la comunicación, están sobradas dichas opciones. Muy contento con esta compra y a un precio muy bajo.

No me funcionó muy bien.
Bieber de buena calidad los materiales, tuve que comprarle otra antena más larga, por que solo escucho pero no trasmite bien. Aún así con la antena larga que le compre sigue con el problema, tal vez solo haya sido el mío, ya que otros lo tienen y no han tenido el problema que yo. Lo uso en las prácticas de vuelo en parapente.

I purchased this because a friend of mine has a couple of them, and I wanted something more professional than a "walkie-talkie." These aren't toys... We used them this winter during a snow storm - we were out driving around in the snow looking for stranded folks (we were in different vehicles). They work well and the range is pretty impressive, though they can be easily blocked by certain topography. I have spoken straight line distances as far as 4.14 miles over hills and through trees in the Ozarks of Oklahoma. These transceivers pick up commercial frequencies such as police, fire, EMS, weather, etc. You can get yourself into some trouble if you aren't "licensed" to speak on these frequencies, so don't be an idiot and check your local laws... That being said and going against it - you are also able to communicate on GMRS frequencies (the cheap walkie-talkie radios) and there are YouTube videos to show how to do so. It has lots of programmable features that I'll never use.
The only things that I do not like about this radio is its slow scan speeds - certainly not like a police scanner. The earpiece is okay, but the Tx buttons are a little bit finicky. Totally worth the money IMO and given the need I'll definitely purchase another one of these..

Can't beat the price! I continually use this little gem for "dual banding" with my main 2-meter rig. Sounds great - radio reports tell me that the receiving stations cannot tell the difference when I am dual banding with this radio or talking directly from my main rig. I take it over to my neighbor's house when I go to visit and can still monitor my favorite repeater. I also love the dual PTT on this thing. I can talk on low power to other units in the immediate vicinity with one button, then talk through my main rig (set up for dual band repeat) to hit the repeater with the other button.

I have been using it every day since I got it. Battery life is long. Functions and features are plentiful for me, a beginning Technician class operator. It was a little tricky learning the programming, but any technician who passed their Ham exam will be able to figure this out. The audio is crisp and clear with more bass and pleasing sounding than the other BaoFeng models, which I own as well. The flashlight is big and bright and the build is sturdy and solid. Performance has been excellent so far as I can tell. I am able to hit our club repeater about 16 miles away using the bigger antenna I bought for it. With the stock antenna, I am able to pick up local simplex traffic from a couple miles out. The manual plus some internet help were the keys for me to learn the programming. This unit feels better in my hand than the other BaoFeng models. I like how it looks as well. More professional. Works great with the accessories and the bigger antenna that I got for it. So far so good. I recommend this radio!

I wasn't sure if I would stay with the hobby and this is a good entry level radio that doesn't cost you much. The only draw back is it isn't very user friendly for programing unless you use CHIRP (free software). If you stick with hobby, it serves as a good back up or loaner radio.

I waited to review this radio until I got a real chance to play around with it. For what it is, it is a quite capable dual band radio. I HIGHLY suggest the USB programming cable from BaoFeng and use CHIRP software for programming(just throw the supplied disc from BaoFeng away). I also suggest the Nagoya NA-771 antenna. It really will make a huge difference for your signal. I can easily hit repeaters that are 20 miles from my QTH. If you are looking for a cheap, capable, not going to cry if it gets broke or stolen handheld without all the bells...You cannot go wrong with it. Long battery life, comfortable, loud and clear audio. Built-in flashlight and FM radio. Also if you are looking to get a hand speaker/mic go with the "Dual PTT" BaoFeng mic. The single PTT mic will only allow you to transmit on B Band.

Fortunately I had ordered a Nagoya 701 as a replacement anyway but still it is a bit annoying that the radio had everything but the antenna in the box. if i hadn't already ordered the Nagoya I would be S.O.L until I got a replacement.
Otherwise, I am happy with the unit. The only functional glitch I have with it is that even though I programmed the channel list via software and gave channel designations, When in Channel mode it still lists them as CH-1, CH-2 etc instead of channel designations I had given them in Chirp.
My UV5R doesn't have this issue. The names show as programmed.
Between the lack of antenna and the channel designation issue I am only giving 4 stars. Had the antenna been there and the designations worked this would have easily been a 5.

I am very pleased with these, especially considering the price.
If I have any complaint, it is that these did not come with the earpiece. I mistakenly thought they came with an earpiece because of the picture, but it doesn't.
I would definitely recommend these if this is your first HAM radio purchase or even instead of walkie talkies (if that's what you're looking for) since these easily allow you to use them as walkie talkies straight out of the box without having to do anything overly complicated with the added bonus that you can use them for more advanced functions in the future if you choose to. The flashlight on this is a nice, cool bonus.

I loved this radio. I’ve had 4 the first one stopped working after a while and the second one broke after a year and a half of abuse the last 2 stopped working 1 after being dropped from 4 feet onto hardwood and the last one from being dropped from 2 feet in to carpet. Overall don’t buy this radio. Buy a radio in the 5-R series I’ve had great luck with them. Not these. Don’t buy them.

Very nice almost do it all handheld dual band uhf vhf radio. Very good speaker volume and voice clarity. It has a great deal of features. The frequency range it's great. From 400 to 520 mhz in UHF. And it also handles VHF frequency. The main feature for me, dual watch in U+U,, V+V or U+V. Good reception in my experience. Very easy to program on the menus of the handheld. You can set almost every features directly in the radio. Very easy to program from a computer with the USB cable. (By the way, you should buy this USB programming cable. It's a must!). I like the size of this radio. Not too small not too big. The battery duration it's good. It never hurts to buy a spare battery, though, since it's better to be prepared for an occasionally long day of use that could drain your battery. I like the way this radio it's built. It feels strong and durable in your hand. Maybe I don't like so much the double-plug connector for the speaker / hands free / usb programming, since it feels it could get worn out with time and use. The charger could use a little bit of redesigned, since it feels cheap.
Overall, it's a good radio for a lot of uses. Specially to monitor 2 frequencies at the same time. Recommended 100%.

This is my first two way radio. I love it. The reception is good, the transmission appears to be good and I was able to program it easily using chirp.
I am a novice so I have not done much transmitting and reception from other radio operators.
The quality of the unit is great I will be ordering a second one.

I lived it at first. Then after only owning for a few months and using it a total of 4 times, it has now broken. It will not work with any PTT headsets, including the one it came with. I would return/exchange it but it is already past Amazon's return policy window.
