So, this monitor is great! Absolutely love using it! The colors are fantastic and the clarity is wonderful! Has all the inputs i need(VGA, HDMI, DVI) and even a headphone output for sound. Ive used this for both my gaming PC and for my xbox 360 and there has been no lag whatsoever. Everything is so crisp and clear. I recommend if you need something awesome but not super expensive.One problem i had was that after about two weeks, the monitors power button didnt want to work and it wouldnt go to sleep mode. Not sure what happened but I sent it back to Amazon and they got me a new one out very quickly, which has worked the three months since. Im not really very worried anyways, because this thing comes with a three year warranty so in the event something does happen, Asus will take care of it. All in all, a very solid product and a joy to watch movies on!

For $140, this is exactly what we needed. It gets five stars just for being affordable and working. Here's a couple nitpicky things I'm not crazy about:1. I don't much like how the screen attaches to the base out of the box. I've purchased a similar Viewsonic and Acer recently, and this one was the only one that needed to be screwed in. It also feels the most wobbly on the desk.2. I really don't like how the cable connectors are straight out the back instead of angling downwards. As someone that tends to shift my monitor around frequently, I feel like there's an increased likelihood of something getting bent or broken with the cables sticking out so far behind the monitor.I don't have an artist's eyes, but the screen looks good enough to me. Certainly good enough for normal use.

Wow, I did not expect this to be this awesome, even with the good reviews.I've hooked it up to a Macbook Pro via HDMI and to a Hackintosh and it worked great with both.It's beautiful... I'm sitting pretty close to it without fatigue... it's big enough that I can really set windows up next to each other more easily...I usually have 4-5 monitors going at once but they are all hand-me-downs. But having experienced this one, WOW, I want MORE! Seems like I could fulfill all my needs with 1-3 of these ;)The only annoyance is that when my Macbook Pro sleeps the screens, waking it up takes too long. Both screens go blank, do weird crap, then come back... music goes off for a second... it's, well, weird... It's like the monitor goes into such a deep sleep that the computer doesn't see it anymore and recalibrates on wake...I will look into this but the monitor is just so spectacular that this has become a minor inconvenience/gripe.Would highly recommend this monitor!

For its price and 22-inch size-- and considering that it's an IPS with HDMI port, full 1080 HD and LED-backlit-- this monitor can't be beat! The colors on the screen are unbelievably vibrant right out of the box! I did not even have to do a lot of tweaking to adjust the colors. And the viewing angle is excellent! Pictures on the screen do not show muted intensity when viewed at an angle other than the customary front position. The physical construction of the monitor seems solid, even when the base footprint is not as large as I expected. Asus also packaged this product very professionally and sent to me on time. This is my first Asus product and, needless to say, I am very much impressed! I highly recommend this product!

I bought this model of monitor a little over a year ago, and I've been very happy with it. Yes, the stand is wobbly, but that has been more than made-up for by the high quality in every other respect (if you have your own stand / frame, then that shortcoming doesn't matter anyway). I'm a casual user, not a graphic designer, so you should take that into account when weighing my opinion.When I started shopping for another monitor recently, for a desktop system I'm assembling, I started to look into the updated offerings, but came back to this, and ordered the exact same monitor this time around, because it has served me well so-far.

I bought this monitor to place it next to my 20 inch iMac. First let me tell you that the monitor arrive on time and in perfect conditions it was very easy to put together no even need an screw driver. It looks really nice with a black piano finish and silver Asus logo. The size of it is also very nice not to big no too small perfect to go with the size of the iMac. the stand is not high adjustable so to be at the same level that the iMac I use an Vesa mount arm.Now the performance, the response time is perfect for my use the motion is really smooth in most of the cases. The backlight is very nice spread and even on dark places I cant see any distracting backlight bleeding only a little bit on the lower right corner when looked at extreme angles. And now the colors the part where I think I'm going to help a bit, out of the box looks really nice but it doesn't match the iMac colors at all even after following the calibration software built in the OSX so here are my settings to do the magic.Splendid mode: scenery modeColor:Brightness: 100Contrast: 75Saturation: 46Skin tone: naturalSmart View: offColor Temp: User mode R: 80 G: 87 B: 88Sharpness: 50Trace Free: 60ASCR: offThats the closes you are gonna get and the colors are a bit more deep on the mac panel impossible to match off course maybe with a color calibrater you can but if you are happy with my settings like I'm you can safe 100+ dollars otherwise go for spider3 which after my research seems to be the best color calibrator option.

UPDATE 2! Continuation of the praise: I got the monitor back from MainteQ America in Fontana after about a week and a half of waiting. They fixed the one I sent them, and so far it's working like a charm. I must have had a small faulty part or something, but I'll never know because they didn't tell me. They shipped it back extremely well packaged, and for free. I still rate the monitor 10/10 in terms of quality/price.UPDATE 1! It died. Day 2, I'm just sitting here talking to someone on FB when it turns off. Doesn't power back up, and two different power cables and DVI cables pretty much proves that it's dead. RMA should be issued in a couple days, so hopefully the next one doesn't have the same problem. Worked awesomely while it worked, and nobody else seems to have this issue, so don't count it out yet!I've only had it for a few days, so things may change BUT... this monitor is awesome. Picture is amazing, size is perfect, presets are not terrible, and it's very easy to set up. Comes with a DVI and a VGA cable. Great for gaming, BF3 especially is great on this screen. My only problem now is that my computer bottlenecks the framerate with this larger resolution. You'll need minimum of a 560ti, or the ATI equivalent, to run games at above 30 frames. With a bit of overclocking, my 550ti runs at 45 frames. I'll be upgrading to the new 600 series in the future, so that shouldn't be an issue for long.Viewing angles are great, color is great, everything is great.100% recommended for the price.If you really want great colors and picture quality, other people have posted their personal settings to blogs and forums in order to help others to unlock the amazing quality that this monitor has to afford.

So I just ordered this monitor for my first PC build as I was on a budget and this monitor seemed to fit my bill perfectly. Its an IPS display.. LED lit.. everything I sought in a monitor with a modest price tag. I received it today.. and am very sad to say that its defective. The left side of the panel is loose and pushes in very easily. Also when on a white screen there is a really bad yellow burn, its very distinct. I am happy to say though that a replacement order has been processed and should ship soon hopefully it wont be a dud and ill be able to update this review with 5 stars. I wouldnt let this review make your decision, just be wary that some bad packaging can occur.

Great bang for the buck, best value in an eIPS in this class. I needed a 21.5" monitor with VESA mount compatibility to squeeze under a hutch and this is EXACTLY the right size. Great picture quality; color gamut not quite as good as my old true IPS Dell UltraSharp, but definitely good enough for my needs and half the price. No dead pixels, no backlight issues. Lower the default brightness setting for best results.Pros: Price for an eIPS; picture quality; VESA mountable; audio output jack via HDMICons: Glossy plastic bezel (who needs the glare?); buttons on the bottom may be hard to reachRecommended: Yes!

It supports HDMI audio only via an audio out jack in the back of the monitor. So if you want a monitor with speakers this isn't for you. Not a problem for me as I linked in external speakers much better than any built ins.I had a $1k old Dell monitor die today after many years of service. It was my secondary monitor but with my job I need at least 2 to get the job done. I would have ordered off of Amazon, but I'm in the middle of a project and couldn't wait until next afternoon for delivery so I bought locally. I decided to purchase 2 of these to make a 3 monitor setup my middle monitor being another $1k Dell with these new ones flanking the sides.My center Dell has always been amazingly bright with good color accuracy and these monitors tie it for brightness but unquestionably this Asus beats the Dell on contrast.The blacks on the vs229hp aren't quite as dark as my expensive Dell but they are still very dark and I wouldn't call them muddy at all. I haven't had time to calibrate these yet so all of my feedback is based purely on what I see.I'm not a gamer any more so I can't comment on any animation performance issues. Video looks great, I've tried 1080i source but not 1080p yet but I would assume it'll be similar.Overall I'd say if you are looking for a very solid IPS monitor in this size then buy it! The price is great (I had to spend $10 more + tax locally and it was still a deal).

First - I have three in landscape mode. All three work better than expected. The colors look great and, luckily, I have no dead pixels.Second - I'm in the U.S. Air Force and I am stationed at Ramstein AB. Two weeks before I ordered these monitors I enrolled in a free trial of Amazon's Prime program. I was initially disappointed as I could not get some of the other "benefits" that the Prime program offers. I checked one of my other favorite shopping websites for these monitors, but they were charging $165 for shipping. When I checked on Amazon, the shipping was free due to my Prime trial membership. Needless to say I promptly hit the "place order" button. Also, I must have gotten lucky as Amazon shipped these on Monday, 17 Dec and I received them on Saturday, 22 Dec. Thanks Amazon!

I purchased this monitor for multi-screen purposes and I was absolutely disappointed by the picture quality. It looks as if someone rubbed grease all over the screen and the lighting is reflecting colors off of the grease (best way to explain it). Next to my Alienware M18x, the picture quality difference is severely noticeable, in favor of the laptop LCD. I messed around with the monitor's settings as much as possible and it is still unable to even present my desktop background in its color-entirety (most of it is black except in the center, where there is an alien head with lighting around it, the Asus monitor cannot produce the lighting around the alien head in its entirety). I would not recommend this product to anyone who wants quality.

My new employment requires that I have a second monitor on my computer. After researching currently available monitors, and because my PC is an ASUS, I purchased this one. Not only am I pleased, I am amazed. My experience with computer monitors goes back to 1970 when it was a big deal to have a single monitor attached to the giant mainframe computer. No keyboard, just a monitor echoing what was printing on the console.That experience progressed through some high end CRT graphics monitors that almost required a forklift to move them around. This ASUS is not only a light weight space-saver but produces a brilliant image as well. Bright, clear and just the right size to match the 17 inch monitor in my ASUS laptop. Just as I would not go back to a CRT monitor, I would not go back to fluorescent back-light illumination. The IPS is a great improvement.The monitor is light weight and does occasionally exhibit a bit of shake. This is certainly of no consequence to my general office related operations. My work surface is a bit unstable as well. There would be no shaking at all on a perfectly solid work surface.The most amazing aspect of this monitor is its very reasonable, bargain basement, price. When I think what those earlier CRT graphics monitors cost...WOW. I am going to purchase another of these ASUS IPS monitors.

Replaced 2 older model samsungs and i must say the picture quality is awesome. Surprising that ASUS can make these so cheap. was worried about the quality due to the price point but not anymore. Asus makes the best montherboards and i must say this year they got the LCDs down to a great value. would recommend!!

Asus VS229H-P 22-Inch-Class (21.5") LED Monitor. So I bought this monitor from OnSale shortly after I bought it the monitor went fuzzy could hardly read the monitor. Sent it back to OnSale they sent another monitor this monitor worked for about 90 days and then the same thing happened again obviously there is a problem with Asus but instead of standing behind a defective monitor OnSale took the low road and said too bad to sad thanks for giving us your money. I offered to send this monitor back and upgrade to a different monitor but hey you are fair game I guess. So I do not recommend ASUS Monitors and I would stay away from OnSale as a vendor.

Great picture quality. I have the 23", but bought this one for my wife, as it is said to have a better IPS LCD. It certainly does. Color definition is a bit better, but the sharpness (of course helped by the higher pixel density from the smaller screen) is significantly better. It has held up well, and I doubt that will change.

These monitors were a sorely needed upgrade for me. They do an excellent job of replacing my old 19" non-wide screen ones and are excellent for gaming as well as normal work and web surfing.

I use ASUS monitors at work but always had LG for personal use. I couldn't pass up the deal though and I'm not disappointed in the least. Crisp and amazing picture.

Bought the Asus VS248H-P first but 24" is just too big for me since I like to have the screen fairly close to my face. This is perfect. IPS is great. I do notice the "screen-door effect"...it's hard to explain but I think the overall image quality of this monitor is far superior than the VS248H-P.

Other than a slight brightness mismatch (I bought two of these monitors at the same time and use them in dual-screen configuration) these are great! Price per pixel with great color response, no weird side-to-side head movement changing the way photos look anymore!The brightness mismatch may be because I use VGA for one monitor, and HDMI for the other (analog vs digital), but I'm not sure because I don't have two of the same ports on any of my computers.

The monitor has no defects and provides vibrant color with good detail. I didn't have to download any special drivers or other utilities for Windows 8. I didn't have to make any special adjustments although the quickgamma utility, available from the internet, allowed me to improve color accuracy slightly.The controls at the bottom of the monitor are a bit hard to use but I won't be touching them often.I am happy with my purchase.

I was hesitant to buy this based upon warning from others about backlight bleed. I expected some, considering it's an edge-lit monitor and IPS has doesn't do the best blacks in the panel world, but now I am very pleasantly surprised.My setup: HDMI from a Radeon 6770M card.My tweaks: sRGB mode from the monitor's menu. ClearType within Windows 7. Turned down the reds slightly, again within Windows 7.The results:Amazing color reproduction, especially considering that it's an eIPS panel (low end of the IPS world).Uniform lighting, with little to no discernible bleeding.Good response times - no lag or ghosting in games (RPG), videos, or mousing around rapidly.Cons: the stand leaves a little to be desired, but hey - this thing has VESA mount capability and buyers of this model should know they're buying at or near the cheapest foothold into the IPS world. We traded stand quality for panel quality, and I've come to terms with that.So, if you're on a budget but are eager to get some good IPS color in your world, then you can't go wrong with this one.

If the anti-glare coating doesn't bother you this monitor produces a great picture. I did some calibrating on it because I didn't like the color, black level and brightness out of the box. My only other complaint is the placement of the headphone jack on back instead of the side. I don't use it much so that's not a deal breaker for me. If you want sound out of it though be sure to purchase a HDMI cable. I got mine on Amazon Blue Rigger, I think, and they work great.

Great IPS monitor at a great price, specific to my Hoby ??is photography. After clibrada screen colors are really where the printer prints. I use two of them mounted on Dual LCD Monitor Stand desk clamp and are perfect. I recommend it 100%.
