This monitor is perfect for my needs. Unfortunately the first one I received had a dead pixel right in the center, but amazon replaced it and the new one I received has worked just fine thus far. With the prices of LED monitors dropping, I decided to upgrade over my older VH238H 23" monitor because it was a bit more bulky and the brightness seemed off to me. Out of the box this monitor has overall great color saturation and the viewing from different angles is fine as well. I opted to change the brightness and contrast of the monitor using a free color calibration tool called calibreeze. Alternatively you can use Windows 7's generic calibration tool, and most graphic cards have calibration tools as well.Overall I'm placed with my purchase, this monitor is sleek and stylish and its much more thin than the last monitor which frees up some desk space for me. With the current mail-in-rebates being offered by ASUS this monitor is practically a steal compared to the price I paid a few months back for my VH238H series.A word of caution to those who are worried about finger prints showing up, this monitor does have a glossy finish to it so finger prints will show up, and if you touch the screen it will cause finger prints and marks to show up as well.

Pros: 24" + 2ms g2g is a great, but then again there's a lot of other manufacturers for the same size and refresh rate.Wall mount sockets are in place so this is possible and definitely recommended.Matte finish LED backlit screen, definitely a plus for the reduced glare and added brightness from LED.Cons: Dead Pixel and HDMI port as mentioned in headline. ALSO, the "neck" of the base is way to skinny so if your desk isn't made of lead or solid oak for that matter the monitor will wobble at the slightest movement, wall mount if at all possible. Speaking of the base, it's also non-adjustable other than at most a 30 degree tilt and sits approximately 2.75 inches off the desktop. Asus RMA policy is garbage and their support is even worse, I know from personal experience with this product. So if you need to return this product under manufacturer's warranty, be prepared to deal with people who don't know their own policies and will tell you one thing and send you documentation that's completely different. READ EVERYTHING.Overall Asus warranty might be a pain in the butt and their RMA process might be completely terrible to deal with, but Amazon.com has amazing customer service. So all in all I'm done purchasing Asus products at all, however, I'll always try something new from Amazon considering I know they stand behind their products 100% and actually care about customer satisfaction.

I think so .. after reading most of reviews here I decided to buy this piece of crap- it is going back today and I will get the HP I had in mind to begin with. For starters I have to use a flashlight to make use of the display's features.. the display panel is black and the feature options situated on the front of the panel are gray and cannot be seen without the use of the flashlight- not a good combination- going from there it has been all downhill. I didn't think it was possible to go much further, boy was I wrong- Trusty flashlight in hand(which leaves me one hand free to push all the other buttons and if you take longer than a few seconds the screen goes dark and you get to start all over again)... I finally can SEE the menu button- nothing works,of course unless you like just scrolling from Splendid down to System Setup and back again over and over - that part works perfectly - unfortunately you need to be able to highlight the features that are giving you trouble, which through the help of ASUS tech support was never realized. Anyway, this thing is going back, it is still under the 30 day return limit.....ASUS Tech ARCHIE is of the same quality as the monitor...Matthew on the other had was very efficient and worked diligently before telling me to TAKE IT BACK...

Just like everyone else, I went through the all the reviews and tried to decide on the best monitor for a reasonable price. Although the reviews were mixed on this particular model, I decided to go with it anyway, since it happened to be the best selling monitor on Amazon at the time. Someone out there definitely knows what they're buying. This monitor proved to be everything it advertised, it gave a very sharp HD picture with no glare, controls were easy to use and the tilt adjustment is really nice. As a bonus, I was a little concerned about the base being wobbly from the reviews I read, but surprisingly, it is quite sturdy once you tighten the screw. The only thing I would have liked would've been a height adjustment, but at this price, it really is a lot of ask. You also shouldn't look for a speaker with this particular monitor; the plug-in jack on the back is fine. If you're really concerned with sound, buy some quality speakers and plug them into the back of your computer. You're not going to get good speakers on a monitor, anyway, especially at this price. Like I said from the beginning, this is a great monitor, we happened to buy it for gaming, and if you're looking for something solid for the price, look no further.

I agree with the other reviewers that the picture looks great. 1080p content looks fantastic. I turned the brightness down to 50% for normal use because that's what I like. The stand is slightly wobbly but it's not really a big issue. Overall I think this is a great looking monitor. I only use HDMI and I'm glad this monitor has it because a lot of the cheaper ones lack HDMI. The stand is attractive, the monitor is pretty thin, it's fairly light, and the 23.6'' screen is rather large. I didn't want any monitor speakers because I use my own via stereo out.Unfortunately my monitor arrived with a dead pixel in the middle of the screen so I'm sending it back. I requested a replacement but the Amazon customer service rep emailed me to say they had none in stock even though it clearly showed 10 in stock on the page. He wrote to tell me I should just send the defective one back and purchase a different monitor or the same one from a different seller. I didn't want to hassle with calling them about it to tell them it clearly says "10 in stock sold by Amazon.com, LLC", so I ordered another VS247H-P and simply got the RMA shipping label for the one with the dead pixel. Sadly the first one had that dead pixel, but my new 2nd try VS247H-P arrived today and it doesn't have any dead pixels right off the bat, so I'm giving it 4 stars. The monitor comes with DVI and VGA cables but of course no HDMI cable! You can buy HDMI cables online for $1 so if you don't have one and you want to use HDMI, keep in mind you'll want to order a cable too. If you use DVI or VGA you'll have the cables you need already in the box. This monitor has a 3 year warranty and ASUS pays 2 way RMA shipping, so if something goes bad down the line you won't have to pay to have it shipped for repair. I like that feature. The packaging was, as usual, pretty bad. The monitor is boxed all nicely in its original box and then placed into a larger box with nothing but some brown paper on top of it. When I picked it up the box inside was sliding all over. When I opened the box I saw about 3.5'' of free space to the side and about 3.5'' space from the top of the box inside to where the larger box closes. So I know the monitor bounced around inside the box all the way from Amazon's warehouse to my door.Overall this is a nice monitor and the price is pretty good for the size. If this keeps working for the next several years with no dead pixels I'll be a very satisfied customer. If anything goes wrong with the monitor I'll update my review.Update 8-16-12:Still no problems with this monitor.

I am not a computer expert so I am not going to be writing any kind of technical report here. I needed a screen for a new Mac Mini that I just purchased because I was NOT spending $1000 on a screen. I am crazy about new purchases so I did a lot of reviewing of the reviews on different screens. About 95% of the reviews are great but I did see some notes about "dead pixels" when they received their Asus screen. I don't really even know what "dead pixels" are but I can guess that I would notice if I had some. There are zero problems with the display on my monitor. This screen was very easy to setup and I never even read the setup directions. This could be why why my HDMI cable isn't working under the HDMI setting, only under the DVI setting. Either way, the display looks amazing so I don't really care that much.Lastly, I read a couple of comments about the "Splendid" sticker being on the actual screen and that it did damage to the screen when they tried to remove it. My monitor had that sticker on the black lower portion of the screen so there were absolutely no issues when I removed it. Maybe ASUS listed to their customer feedback. So to sum this up, I think this is by far the best screen for the best price. Go for it!!!!!

For a 1080p monitor this has to be the best i have owned.Tried it in TERA, Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2. The image quality in every game was flawless with the blend of colors. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. (almost didn't buy because of how others reported having dead pixels or slight bleeding but glad i did).Bit shocked that the price went up though i just ordered a few days ago and got it for 149.99. Oh well it is well worth the price. The only possible complaint is that my icons for chrome are grayed-out but that is the only flaw i can find and it isn't enough of one to berate this monitor because everyone has heir preference in browsers and not everyone uses chrome. There's plenty of customization to fit your preferences in brightness, contrast, sharpness, Saturation and Trace Free.Happy gaming everyone!Edit changed settings as a previous reviewer had stated and it fixed the grayed icons in chrome.

The picture on this monitor is good when viewing the monitor head on. As some other reviewers mentioned the monitor is very bright, and I had to adjust the brightness down somewhat. Horizontal viewing angles are fine, but vertical viewing angle was not good. I could have lived with all of this if it weren't for the monitor stand. I had seen reference to it being wobbly, but I figured it couldn't be that bad, and the price was right. Well the stand is awful. I have a solid desk yet the monitor was constantly moving. Additionally, the stand isn't height adjustable so it was difficult to achieve an optimal viewing height given the issue with the limited vertical viewing angle referenced above. Monitor is going back to Amazon. I ordered the Dell 2312HM for $20 more. Stand is solid and adjustable. Coating is a bit more matte which I like. I find the connection ergonomics on the Dell not as good as the Asus, but it's a minor issue.

I purchased this monitor, rather than another brand, in part because of the $20 rebate offer by ASUS. Collecting that rebate became an extreme effort. Only after I recorded the last telephone discussion I had with the ASUS rebate people, after 7 weeks effort, did I actually receive the rebate several weeks later - and only after I stated emphatically that I was referring this entire episode to the US Attorney's office for fraud investigation. Making matters worse, the ASUS rebate people actually attempted attempted to pin the fault on amazon.com saying that amazon insisted on a very specific piece of paper be used by the buyer to support the rebate claim - all a bunch of bull according to amazon staff! As to the monitor itself, it performs as advertised and I am happy with it. One aspect I do NOT like is that it is very shaky on its pedestal . The on/off button is on the underside of the monitor on the far right side and pressing up on the button to turn the monitor on or off actually tilts the monitor and over time I believe it is inevitable that the pedestal support will weaken and fail.

When I first was reading reviews about this monitor, I was skeptical about whether or not to purchase this item. I decided to purchase the item anyways and hopefully be one of the lucky ones to get one without dead pixels. Well, the shipment arrived extremely quickly with my Amazon Prime account and the monitor was as beautiful as it was pictured. I quickly hooked the item up to check for any dead pixels and there were none so I thought I was in the clear. Unfortunately, I was not. My monitor actually had a, presumably, bad board. I swapped out cables, updated my GPU drivers, and tried a different outlet and still had my monitor shutting off in 2-8 seconds after being turned on. It's weird how the item was working perfectly for one week then all of a sudden it did not work. When the monitor worked, the colors were absolutely beautiful and crisp. The only reason why I'm rating the item 2 stars is because of Amazon's great support. I received an instant RMA and was given an arrival date for my replacement monitor.Hope this helps.

First of all, as of Q4 2012, there's no real reason to buy any other monitor if you're floating around this price point. The picture quality here is amazing for the price, the design is minimalist and attractive, bleeding is non-existent (on mine), and it's compliant with whatever that stand format is that lets you mount it.The semi-gloss was almost a deal breaker when I bought this, but I'm glad I listened to the reviews who said they gave it a shot and were impressed. That describes my experience as well and, despite being a matte fanatic for years, I might be sticking with this design from now on.The only problem I had with this monitor, and the reason I dropped it a star, is that the damn thing came looking washed out as hell with the colors running towards green and red. It took me a good hour of messing with the Windows 7 color correct help wizard and fine tuning it here and there to get it where I wanted it. That said, it now looks amazing and I don't even remotely regret the time time it took getting it to this stage. Thanks, Asus. I'm religious about your motherboards, and now it looks like I'll be adding monitors to the list of things I love from your company.

The monitor had very good video quality, but the sound was a bear to set up, and overloaded at low volume.Setting up the monitor overall was difficult. The only enclosed manuals were quick start pages about 2 x 3 feet. Very rudimentary instructions in a ridiculously small type face. Using a magnifying glass I managed to read a phone number for the mfg.. From them I got a customer service URL. Three hours of slogging, got me the ability to download a pdf of the manual. It was in some arcane compressed format that required googeling four ttys to identify. I phoned their customer service. They finally downloaded the manual and converted it to vanilla pdf which they then emailed to me.The monitor was great. Customer service adequate. But why did I feel like I'd been on a fifty mile forced march when I was done?

My old Acer 24" has died. I bought this to replace it. Everything is great. Much better picture. WAY better actually. They give you BOTH DVI and analogue cables. And the power cable. I just dont remember getting both. I think I had to buy the DVI cable with the Acer.Weird (not con I guess... just something I wasnt expecting)- The monitor is smaller than the 24" I was replacing. Way smaller. I was unaware that this is true spec for HD 1920x1080 and the 24" I had was something like 1920x1200 ..... So I imagine both are 24'. This one from ASUS is 24" widescreen. I wasnt expecting the difference. I didnt take anythingh away from the stars because it was my misunderstanding and this LED monitor is really cool. Just wish I knew this before so I could have ordered the larger monitor. I will have to get used to a smaller screen now and using it for music multitracking is going to take getting used to.

I bought this monitor based primarily on needs. This is hooked up to a new Mac Mini via HDMI and out of the box it's a stunner. We didn't need anything serious as far as specs goes and I wanted something already tried and true as far as real world customer use/feedback. This monitor filled all the requirements and coming from a 15" laptop screen this 24" is massive! Great display, easy to use on screen menu. Has enough ports/connectivity if you aren't need crazy amounts of additional hookups. Only one negative is there was 1 dead pixel I had noticed after running a screen test but one at this price point for us was more than enough to keep and continue to use without much notice. I highly recommend this monitor for the traditional computer user.

I bought two of these monitors. I tested both and only found one dead pixel between the two which is pretty good. The pixel is dead not stuck so there is no recovering it. I tried several things. So far I like these monitors. I don't think they are a match for traditional 16:10 monitors running 1920x1200. When I got them I performed some very basic adjustments on them. I feel like the adjustment menu could be slightly easier to use. Like most TVs these monitors had the brightness turned all the way up which was apparent next to my 24" dell. These monitors are extremely light weigh, so light that when adjusting them they move. If used as a secondary monitor these are great just realize that they aren't 16:10 monitors so they are really more cheap HD TVs than traditional PC monitor.

Purchased a pair of these monitors as an upgrade from two Asus 23in monitors that were about a year old. The deciding factors on the upgrade was mainly the price (plus rebates) and the amount of positive reviews. Additional caveats that sold me include the 33w power draw (as opposed to 55w with my previous late-model 23in Asus's) and the slim design. This monitor has been out for some time now and seems to be a consistent performer, which made me feel better about going with this model. Not one dead pixel between the two monitors I ordered. The VS series lacks speakers but frankly, I would never utilize them unless I absoluty had to. I was a bit skeptical at first due to this model being labeled "business stable", but once again a plethora of positive reviews quickly put my worries to ease. I'm extremely glad I went with these because the picture is excellent, the warranty is outstanding, and the price was unbeatable. I've never had a bad experience with Asus products, period. Hands down a great purchase.

This monitor is absolutely one of the best investments I have ever made. The 2ms response time is absolutely remarkable. The color is clear and bright, and there are a lot of options to change to get this monitor to fit your liking. I would have liked to be able to adjust the height, but the tilt function is very useful. The inputs on the back are easy to access, and hooking up both my xbox (via hdmi) and my computer (via dvi) is no problem. The integrated speakers definitely leave something to be desired, but with a line out jack, you can hook the monitor up to your favorite speakers and have no problem. I primarily use this to play xbox currently, and I absolutely cannot complain outside of the speakers (I'm using some desktop speakers instead and they are great.)I will be purchasing another one of these in the very near future for a dual screen setup. Cannot beat this screen for the price.

Initial thoughts, from unboxing to first hour of use... the built in handle at the top/back is much appreciated, and comes in handy during unboxing. For its size the monitor is light enough to handle easily.1920x @ 24" is a holiday for the eyes compared to the 1600x @ 15" I was using.I'm using it placed on a desk, with a kbd on a keyboard tray, and although the monitor will wiggle a bit if I bump the desk, it isn't perceptibly moving from typing alone. The brightness, color, sharpness, etc are all more than acceptable at this price level.I could see two of these side-by-side in portrait orientation on a dual-display-mount for those who have dual monitor adapters. Of course that would also eliminate any movement. On my computer's display adapter I can rotate the view in seconds and the monitor displays correctly in any of the four basic orientations. Be aware this monitor/stand does not have (90+) rotation built into it, an additional monitor stand would have to include the physical rotation feature.I'm glad I found this during the Thanksgiving week sales ( 1 3 9 ); I may buy a second in Dec on the rebate ( 1 5 9 ).

I purchased two monitors and received both in good condition. The reason for the one star is that part of the reason i purchased this monitor as opposed to another brand was the rebate offered from Asus. I submitted two rebates, one for each monitor with both a copy of packing slip and invoice from Amazon. They denied the claims for lacking invoice documentation. They provide you with a scan of the envelope and rebate form. My scan showed the rebate form, and you could even see the edges of the other two sheets for the invoice and packing slip that were both included, but they did not scan them individually and then denied the claim. If you are looking to buy this or any other Asus product, be aware that they are not likely to honor the rebate and you will pay full price anyway. Other than this I have had good luck with Asus products themselves, but can't count on them for good support.

for some reason it took a full week before it was shipped which i dont understand but when it finally did get shipped, it got here pretty quick. packaging was decent, monitor arrived in good condition. gave it 4 stars because i have a stuck pixel in the middle left of the screen and since it's only 1 i can't do anything about it. first monitor i've bought for myself after getting thousands of LCD monitors for work (not this model but i've seen a LOT of monitors over the years), and I get the one with a stuck pixel when its my own that i bought.other than the pixel, the monitor looks and works great. just disappointed I have this glaring red dot in the middle when i'm watching a movie or playing my games.

Short version: Highly recommended.Longer version:I had a 19" CRT Dell monitor for the longest time until the colors started changing, starting in one of the corners and working it's way up. I then recycled it and used a spare Planar PL1910M instead, even though it's refresh rate wasn't as fast as the CRT monitor (60hz vs 120hz); it was pretty noticeable when playing Burnout Paradise. I thought I'd upgrade to a larger flat-screen (Acer S211HL bd 21.5-Inch Widescreen Ultra-Slim LED Display - Black), but the color was very cold and I just couldn't seem to adjust. I think there was also something odd about the brightness as well.Since I've been focusing more on programming and I like having a dual monitor setup at work (code on one screen and documentation on the other), I knew I wanted the same setup for home. I took a chance with two of these and a monitor stand (Dual LCD Monitor Stand desk clamp holds up to 24" lcd monitors) and it has to be the best purchase I've made in some time. Now granted I did have to adjust the brightness quite a bit, but after adjustment I haven't had any problems out of them. After assembling and connecting to my system, I tested them with the Dead Pixel Buddy application I've used previously and did not find a single dead pixel. For anyone that wants to tweak their monitor settings, this is how both of mine are setup:Splendid->Standard ModeColor->Brightness = 20Color->Contrast = 70Color->Saturation = 50 (couldn't change?)Color->Color Temp = WarmColor->Skin Tone = Natural (couldn't change?)Color->Smart View = OffImage->Trace Free = 60Image->Trace Free = Sharpness = 40 (couldn't change?)System Setup->Splendid Demo Mode = OffSystem Setup->ECO Mode = OffThat particular brightness setting is probably too low for most users, so starting there and going up may work well for you.

So the colorimeter reports when calibrating the monitor that it covers 98% sRGB and roughly 74% of AdobeRGB at a native white point. This is actually my second panel since the first one had an entire column of dead pixels out of the box. That one was averaging 97% sRGB so these monitors seem to be in the ballpark of covering all of sRGB. As others have mentioned, they're bright. As in, where's the sunglasses and sunblock bright. Out of the box in normal mode I believe the brightness defaults to a menu level of 90. To get down to 120 cd/m2, that has to be brought down to around a menu number of 35. So it has plenty of brightness power.I'm not a gamer, but I do notice the image break up a little if I'm scrolling through a webpage at full speed. Not something to worry about though as it corrects instantly as soon as I'm stopped. I'm using a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter out of a MacBook Pro. I forgot how wonderful a Matte screen is! I do wish perhaps it had more than 1920x1080 resolution, but I understand these panels are cheap because they get thrown into HDTVs.In short, it is a cheap, calibrate-able normal gamut monitor which has some quality control issues (ie, my first one was effectively unusable out of the box). It seems to perform about the same as the panel in my MacBook, except it is Matte and obviously much bigger. I'm satisfied as long as it keeps working.

The Asus VS247H-P 23.6 inch Led monitor is a great monitor. I was searching for a monitor to be an external display for my mid 2010 macbook pro 15 inch and ended up buying this one. I thought 23.3 inches would be to small, but its plenty big for my use. I'm not a professional photographer or graphic design specialist so I can't really comment on the nitty-gritty, but for occasional games, iphoto editing, movies, web, and home/office use this monitor is excellent. I connected my macbook to the display via mini display port to HDMI with audio (one cord) and the monitor was displaying in beautiful 1080p with sound coming from my desktop speakers (you have to set the audio output in the system preferences to HDMI). The colors are great, black is black and white is bright white, really bright white. I did have to do some tweaking with the settings via the menu on the monitor and color sync in OS X to calm it down a bit, took about 3 minutes, but it looks fabulous and its nice to know I have room to adjust if I need to. There are no speakers in this monitor so you have to use headphones or desktop speakers, but there is volume settings in the menu, which is kind of a pain in the butt, as there is no independent physical volume up/down button. You have to scroll through the menu till you get to the volume settings. I just max out the monitor volume and adjust the sound from my desktop speaker controller. The menu is a bit tricky to get through at first, but after a few times I was able to move through it pretty quickly. The monitor has a glossy half-inch or so border around it, which I'm not a huge fan of as it gets mucked up with finger prints, but when its clean it looks nice. In the end I would definitely recommend this monitor.

I must have been one of the unlucky ones. First one I received had multiple dead pixels, the worst one was right in the middle of the screen. Got a replacement, and while it was dead pixel free, it had horrible light bleed in the bottom left of the screen. Was nearly impossible to enjoy games, cause blacks looked gray in that part of the screen. Also what is with everyone abandoning 1920x1200 resolution. I give it two stars cause the price is good, and when turned off it looks great. I am sure it is a great monitor, as long as you are lucky. Sent it back and went with a Dell IPS screen instead.
