I build myself custom PC every 3 years or so, I had a lot of motherboards to look at that I've used in the past, but some of them have had driver issues, some lack a USB 3.0 header on the motherboard, etc. They all worked find but it was just little nit picky things that were annoying. I wasn't completely satisfied with the ones that I had used in the past so I decided to give this one a shot. I have to say I was very impressed. It had everything that I was looking for.I really the graphical BIOS.it does look nice. The USB 3.0 header on the board is nice so you don't have to route it through to the back side of the case and take up one of your slots on the back. It has SATA 6 Gbps. It has 8 sata connections (I didn't realize that when I ordered it so that was a pleasant surprise). It will run AMD's new bulldozer A3+ FX-6100 processor I purchased and uses DDR3 memory.For the money, I would say that this Motherboard second to none.

I picked one of these up for my desktop system after my old Socket 775 motherboard started to go out. I planned to use a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz CPU for a few months, and then switch to a AMD FX 8120 8-Core Processor 3.1 after the price came down a bit.This is the second Socket AM3+ motherboard I tried. The first one was a 990FX board from a different manufacturer that had some serious Windows 7 crashing issues. I was able to return it and decided to go with an Asus board, as I have had very good luck with Asus products in the past. I don't run SLI, so I decided a 990X board would be perfectly adequate.This motherboard works very well but not flawlessly. I have 2 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB hard drives that worked well in RAID0 on my old motherboard with an ICH10R southbridge. With this motherboard, I get random freezes in Windows 7 with these drives in RAID0. When I use the drives separately, ie, not RAIDed, everything runs smoothly. I've tried about 6 different Windows installs with various configurations of the RAID controller and consistently get the random freezing, so I have to assume that it's an issue with the SB950 southbridge's RAID controller.Everything else works smoothly. The EFI BIOS is great, and makes it very easy to configure the many features of this board. Boot times are pretty quick. I'm currently running it with the aforementioned Phenom II 955, 8GB of Mushkin Redline DDR3 1866MHZ 9-10-9-27 memory and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler.All in all, I'm pleased with the motherboard itself.I'm less pleased with the AM3/AM3+ platform. The heat generated by the Phenom II CPU is astounding compared to my old Core 2 Quad, and it looks like at least the initial batch of Bulldozer CPUs are even worse in that regard. I can raise the ambient temperature of my office about 3-4 degrees F in an hour or two of gaming. I'm considering returning the board and going with Sandy Bridge instead. But no stars taken away from the review for this, as it's not an issue with the motherboard itself.

This product is great especially if your coming from oh I dont know a m17x where dells firmware and bios kills the motherboard so that they can try to charge you 200$ for repairs. The uefi Bios alone makes it so there is no chance I will ever go with anything butASUS again.

i fully recommend this board to any gaming enthusiast. It supports my quad phenom x2 965 fully, along with the dual corsair vengeance memory modules, easily and effectively. its full atx ensuring that you get more leverage with respect to the pci-e slots. Supports quad sli which is great. Usb 3.0 capabilites are awesome.Cons: No onboard video but you should be equipped with your own pci-e gfx card.i rate this motherboard to all, its the best board i have obtained thus far. I recommend it.

Installed this new ASUS Motherboard in a new tower. It is amazing the amount of hardware this board has. It works great with a AMD 6 core CPU. Updates to BIOS is very simple and safe. Installed the latest 901 BIOS. The board has a USB 3.0 ports for the front or rear of your computer case. Has 6 SATA 3.0 ports plus 2 SATA 2.0 ports. Has 2 usb ports to add more usb hardware if needed. The audio is very good. I use a 5.1 surround speaker system. The BIOS is very easy to use and to Overdrive the CPU is done automatically through the ASUS program that comes with the motherboard. Overall, I give it 5 stars for ease of installation and personalization of the board.Update: 01/07/2013 Installed Windows 8 Pro with a dual boot configuration. Unfortunately, This motherboard (Version 1.x) doesn't support the fast boot feature of Windows 8 but the newer version of the Motherboard does. Its the same as this board but version 2.0 which is fully compatible with Windows 8. But I still give it five stars. My tower has 5 hard drives, 4 dvd burners, one card reader, and two printers plus 4-4 gigabytes of DDR3 Ram hooked up to this motherboard. The ASUS Motherboard handles everything without any glitches at all. That is how amazing this product is. But the board ,like all new motherboards being manufactured today, doesn't come with an IDE port. So you would have to purchase a PCIe card adapter to add IDE hardware.

I am a video editor and have paired this motherboard with the FX 8320. Great combo and great price. I like all the features the board has including firewire and USB 3.0. I don't benchmark - but I can say that I have noticed a significant improvement in speed.

Bought this for a video editing rig. I love how it can be configured for performance of power conservation. This board has ample ports for usb. firewire sata. I have been using Asus boards for years now and this did not disappoint.

I bought this to replace my Asus m2n-sli. It was very easy to install and booted right up. The first thing I noticed was how fast it was. There is even a huge improvement in the video. I havn't overclocked it until I install a liquid cooler. I'm very happy with this motherboard.

So...I made a booboo in my first build that SHOULD have shorted the board. Luckily, this guy is a beast and held up. Very easy to overclock too. Changed to 1600 mhz ram speed easy, but had to change slots a couple times for it to recognize all my ram. I recommend putting 1 stick in the slot farthest from the cpu, booting up, change speed if necessary, shut down, unplug power supply from pc, put 2nd stick in, then plug in and start up. Should recognize all of it at the correct speed. Overclocked easy too.

This board was awesome for the week that I had it installed. Very solid! Unfortunately I haven't gotten to use the board longer due to a leak in the Corsair Hydro H55 unit I installed with it.

This ASUS M5A99X Evo mobo has so many features to make the AMD 8150 work like a charm. My only issue was that I should have uninstalled my old boards drivers first, then maybe I wouldn't have had to reinstall Windows. Thank goodness I keep all my data on a second partition. I have needed a fresh instal of Windows anyways so no big deal. With the rebate this motherboard is well worth it. The only thing I would have liked would be a "post speaker" included and a few straight Sata 3 cables instead of all right angle type. Thanks to Amazon I will order them later. All around great product. I hope this board lasts as long as my Asus P4800 Deluxe, it is still humming along for almost 10+ years now.

I'll keep this review short and sweet. This board ROCKS! It's easy to overclock via it's Windows-based software. I did have one issue where one of the PCIE slots died after 8 months. I contacted ASUS, they sent a replacement board that day via overnight UPS so I was back up and running the very next day. The only downtime I had was spent replacing the board because I had a Crossfire set up so I was still able to use the machine while I waited for the new board to arrive. I give the board 5 stars, and I give ASUS 5 stars for customer support!

I bought this along with an AMD FX-8120 8 Core Processor and a Corsair Hydro H60 series stand alone water cooler for the CPU. This computer is beastly easily overclocking to 4+ GHZ with idle temps remaining below 45C and 55-60C on full load. I am currently running with 16GB of Mushkin Ram, 2 GTX 570's in SLI, 2 patriot SSD, and windows experience index rates PC at 7.9 out of 8 on all components on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Benchmarks are also phenomenal and runs BF 3 in 1080P ultra settings with no screen tearing and over 70 FPS.I was very impressed with the new UEFI bios and its easy overclocking utilities. So much so I also bought this motherboard for a AMD Athlon II Rana 455 triple core processor which I was able to easily unlock using the built in the BIOS tools. I have that PC now running with the triple core unlocked to a Phenom X4 B55 at 3.8 GHZ 8GB of gskill sniper series ram, crucial 120 GB solid state drive, and 2 Gigabyte gtx 560 in SLI. That is used for a variety of video encoding and light gaming Star Wars- The old republic runs on max settings without any issues.

I wasnt completely satisfied with the ones that I had used in the past Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Socket AM3 AMD 890GX/SB850 6 SATA USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard, ASUS Socket AM3/AMD 880G/USB3.0/Hybrid CrossFireX/A&V&GbE/Micro ATX Motherboard s M4A88T-M/USB3, ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 - AM3 - AMD 880G - DDR3 - USB 3.0 SATA 6 Gb/s - ATX Motherboard so I decided to give this one a shot. I have to say I was very impressed. It had everything that I was looking for.I love the graphical BIOS. Its not really a functionality difference but it does look nice. The USB 3.0 header on the board is nice so you dont have to route it through to the back side of the case and take up one of your slots on the back. It has SATA 6 gbps. It has 8 sata connections (I didnt realize that when I ordered it so that was a pleasant surprise). Will run AMD's new bulldozer processors and 2133 mhz DDR3.For the money, I would say that this is second to none. It is comparable to the republic of gamers mobo but costs quite less. I have been a fan of ASUS motherboards ever since I bought my first one several years ago. So when I set out to upgrade my computer I researched various ASUS options. I decided to go with this one since it fit all my needs and then some. The graphical BIOS is a welcome change from days past. The BIOS is chock full of features for overclocking and such. Good choice for a motherboard.

This was the best choice by far, you get the latest technology, for a fair price, SLI support. Ready for Fx Processors right out of the box too (AMD FX CPUs up to 8 cores suported), lots of SATA and USB ports. Really nice Bios interface. I am using Corsair Vengeance memory that comes with heat spreader that matches the color details in the motherboard. The instalation of a Corsair Hydro series liquid cooling system on this motherboard was very simple too. You can get a very decent gaming machine with a small budget. Need to run virtual machines, this one can do the job for sure.

Well i purchased this motherboard last week and paired it with 16 gig of the Corsair Vengence low profile RAM, and the new AMD FX Series 6100 AM3+ Processor, I was able to finally get it all together this weekend and as soon as I turned it on there was a big red LED indicating a CPU problem and the computer would not post. After a little bit of troubleshooting, reseating the processor and etc, I finally called Asus, it was noted that even though this board is AM3+ ready they did not update the bios chip to handle these new processors, so they realized the problem right away and will be shipping me a new bios chip to install that should make everything work. Overall the motherboard is great, i liked the layouts of where everything is. But be ware if you do pair this up with the new bulldozer processors you will probably have to get a new bios chip sent to you to make it work.

Well built Motherboard with fantastic overclocking and management tools. The Windows tool set is great, but what blew me away was the UEFI BIOS. It has quick settings for conservative, normal and overclocked as well as a great interface for each and every possible setting in the BIOS.Don't hestitate to buy this, Seriously! For all of you who like to buy the $75 to $125 range motherboards, Don't, I used to be that person. Sure am a happy camper I went with ASUS and not MSI.Would recommend this motherboard to anyone.
