This CPU is a beast! My games and programs load near instantly, and productivity workloads take so much less time than before. This CPU also doesn't even run as hot as I'd heard it did -- 72C at full load (although I invested in a good liquid cooler, so that may be why). Be careful about buying one of these 3rd-party; I did so initially, but never received it, and had to get Amazon to give me a refund, which was a bit of a pain. Still, though, this absolute monster of a CPU was worth the trouble. If a $700 CPU fits in your budget, you really can't do any better than this.

Installed the Ryzen 9 9950X3D on an Asus X870E Hero, and it performs exactly as expected.
Productivity tasks and multitasking are noticeably faster, while gaming benefits from the large 3D V-Cache with consistently smooth performance. Runs stable at stock settings with proper cooling, and enabling PBO helps unlock its full potential. A powerful, well-rounded CPU for anyone who needs both high-end gaming and workstation capability.

I was incredibly excited to build a new workstation around what should be the best consumer CPU on the market. My goal was a high-performance machine with 256GB of DDR5 RAM for development and gaming. Unfortunately, what I received was a defective unit that has led to weeks of frustrating troubleshooting.
Initially with a normal amount of memory it seemed fine but as soon as I tried anything over128 GB the system became unstable and fails to complete any warm reboot (restarting from Windows), even at the most basic, industry-standard JEDEC speed of 3600 MT/s.
To ensure the fault wasn't elsewhere, I performed an exhaustive diagnostic process:
The instability was replicated on two different high-end X870E motherboards including the MSI Godlike which I only purchased because I assumed the issue was with the first motherboard.
The instability was replicated with two completely different 256GB (4x64GB) DDR5 RAM kits (even when only running at 128GB (2x64), both of which were on the Godlike motherboard's official QVL.
The only component common to every single failure was this CPU. The unavoidable conclusion is that the chip arrived with a defective Integrated Memory Controller (IMC). I am now in the middle of the RMA process with AMD.
While I understand that manufacturing defects can happen (the "silicon lottery"), receiving a dead-on-arrival flagship product is a massive disappointment. If you buy this CPU, I urge you to stress-test the memory controller thoroughly with your intended configuration as soon as you get it, so you don't miss your return window.

Literal monster of a CPU. I do a lot of web scraping and high volume payload processing. Running 16 threads with 98gb of memory and this thing barely hits above 60% processing. I run several applications locally while processing heavily workflows and it's never the bottleneck.
Huge power consumption, dims my lights when it fires up sometimes.

Only problem I ran into was trying to get the RAM to run at full speed in the bios by turning on XMP. This was my first AMD chip so maybe its the same for all but my pc crashed when i first tried to use XMP, i even had to reset the bios, as it wasnt letting me go pass the windows log in screen. Either way, i was able to make it work, and change the ram profile to something else and now its running at full speed.
