I think it would be good for younger players (10 to 15?) to play with their parents.

The humour & game play is great for adults and kids alike and each deck combination have their varying different strategies that combine surprisingly well.
Ninja-Dinosaurs, Robot-wizards, Trickster-aliens or whatever you fancy. Just smash it up and play!
The box contains a container for the cards in this edition and plenty of room for any other expansions they bring out! Great Buy!

The eight factions are Ninjas, Pirates, Tricksters (think leprechauns and gnomes), Robots, Wizards, Dinosaurs, Aliens and finally Zombies. So up to 4 players can nab 2 different factions decks, mix them up and battle it out. Each faction plays completely different so you can really get strategic on what kind of deck you can make. For example the Aliens cards focus more on causing an opposing player to return minion cards back to their hand (like beaming up), the Zombies focus more on playing cards from the discard pile (returning from the grave) and the Wizards focus a lot on drawing extra cards etc.
Once you have your decks in order you then battle each other over a few different location cards that are laid out in the middle. Each location has a number and each minion has a number. When you play a minion at a location you subtract the minions number form the location number. Once there are enough minions at a location to equal the locations number it is taken over! Now the key here is whoever has the highest total number amount on their minions at that location gets the top amount of points from that location. There is also a second and third place score which are less respectively. That location is then removed and another is drawn. The first player to 15 points wins! Easy as that.
This game is very simple to learn and I easily taught my 7 year old how to play and she dominated me in our first game. There is depth there as well for those wanting to get strategic. A game for 2 players lasts around 35-45 minutes on average, probably more with a full 4 players. Also there are a TON of expansions which add so many more factions to the fray. Not the most deep game per say but a very fun card game to whip out on a whim, recommended.

The core game comes with 8 different factions: Wizards, Tricksters, Robots, Aliens, Zombies, Dinosaurs, Pirates, and Ninjas. Everyone selects two factions each at the beginning of the game and shuffles their cards together. Presto. Instant madness. You've got dinosaur ninjas or ninja robots or something just as evil.
Other than the base cards, there are two other types of cards in the deck, which go to your draw pile: minions and actions. Draw five cards at the beginning of play. On your turn you may play one minion and one action by de facto. If you're smart, though, and you know you are, you'll play an amazing chain of cards that lets you keep playing additional minions or actions until the look of defeat on your opponents' faces is enough to warrant a call from their grandmothers to complain. It happens. When you're done, you draw two new cards to your hand. Discard down to 10 cards if you go over. Then play passes to your left.
There are five base cards in play at any given time, all of which have a break point, a number shown in the top left hand corner of the card. If the power of all the minions present on a base at any given time exceeds the break point, the base breaks. There are three numbers in the center of the cards, which are victory points. The first number shown goes to the player with the minions whose total is the highest on the base. The second number goes to the second-highest total, and then the third number goes to the player who had the third-highest total, if there was a third player brave enough to pit his minions against yours. That's it. Whoever gets to 15 victory points first wins. Game over. Reshuffle and play again. My first complete game took about an hour with three people.
I'm not going to lie: I'm going to play this again and again. No doubt I'll also be picking up an expansion pack very soon.

I've heard it said that this is not a must to start with but, I think it's a really good enough idea to say you really should start with this first.
The quality of the product is made very well and will stand the of time at much use. This game overall is addicting and you will want to purchase every expansion available! I bought after playing it at my daughters. I bought it to play it at Thanksgiving... as a test to see if my son would want it for Christmas. After playing the game I asked him and he said YES. Then I told him of my sneaky plan to get him to play it first to see if he would like it and want it for Christmas. His wife was exsited too and we plan to have the game at each of houses so we can plan to play it when we get together.
WARNING... THIS GAME WILL RACK YOUR BRAIN... PLAY IT WHEN YOU CAN THINK because it requires a lot of it! :)

The goal of the game is pretty simple – use your minions to crush enemy bases and the first player to score 15 victory points wins! The game is essentially a shufflebuilding game where you select two factions which contains twenty cards each, shuffle them into a forty cards deck and compete to smash bases.
As I mentioned previously there are 8 factions in this game. Let me present them to you:
Aliens
Dinosaurs
Ninjas
Pirates
Robots
Tricksters
Wizards
Zombies
Each faction is composed of twenty cards. You will need to choose two factions in order to play.
You will also have sixteen bases included in the game. Before the game start, you will shuffle the bases and positioned some for play. You will have to put as many bases as you have players plus one. For example, if you are three players you will put four bases on the table. The rest of the bases are put on the side for future use when a base if conquered. Oh! Each base also has a breakpoint that needs to be conquered as well as three value point listed on the card for the first, second and third. Bases also possess an ability that could be done during or after conquest.
So the first player to play is the person who got up the earliest that morning. Most board games have funny rules to decide who is the first player. It had some twist I find! Play continues clockwise. On your turn you will play one minion, one action, play one of each or play none. Once you have finished your turn you can pick two cards for your hand. You cannot have more than 10 cards at a time in your hand.
To play a minion, you will select a base and put the minion card beside it, facing toward you. Do what the card says and move on to the next step. To play an action, show your card and do what it says. Once you have finished, you need to discard the action unless it has an ONGOING ability.
Slowly as the game progress, you will check regularly if the base is ready to score. Scoring a base happens if the total power of all minions on that base equals or exceeds the bases’s breakpoint.
When a base is score, the player with the most power on it is the winner. That player gains victory points equal to the number on the left on top of the base. The second highest gains the middle number and finally the third place gets the number on the right. Once a base is score, all cards return to the discard piles of each player except the ones who have some special ability allowing them to move to another base. Once a player reach fifteen value points, the player wins the game.
For the price of the game, you get quite a bit in it – 8 factions, amazing dividers, and 16 bases. The game is easy to learn and play. You should expect a game time of about 45 minutes. This game is perfect for ages 12 and up. However, I am pretty sure that my younger kids ages 8 and 10 will grasp the concept quite rapidly – maybe even faster than me… After two games with my husband, I have yet to win. However, even if I get frustrated because I do not completely get the ability that I need to do or simply because my hands is packed with minions with no actions (or vice versa), I persevere and I hope to win Smash Up one day.
Smash Up has also a bunch of expansions which will make you game even more interesting like Awesome Level 9000, The Obligatory Cthulhu Set, Science Fiction Double Feature, The Big Geeky Box (Essentially this is a storage box which allows you to store the game and its expansions in it. It also contains plastic dividers, one factions and two bases.), Monster Smash, Pretty Pretty Smash Up, Smash Up: Munchkin, and It’s Your Fault. And from what I have seen on BoardGameGeek.com a new expansion titled Cease and Desist is coming out this year.

Posiblemente mi juego de mesa favorito, con gran variedad y múltiples estrategias.
Las expansiones pueden resultar costosas pero agregan variedad y novedad al juego.
