I got this because it was pretty cheap. I wanted to keep a few games I play the most on it. I will say, they load a lot faster than my other regular external drive. It's worth it for the time you save in-game. Well worth it.

I am transferring small files of 10-30GB at a time and after about a week of using it the write speed dropped from 180-300MB/s to around 6MB/s (it spikes to 70 for a second or two).

Only four stars because I am doing a lot of work with editing projects and its been giving me issues working straight off the hard drive when I transfer computers. And doesn't connect to my desktop on first try. But I would definitely recommend for anyone on the go who needs to hold a lot of files

Terrible, Slows to a crawl after writing about 2GB of data. once it gets warm you are toast. It slows to about 4mbs which is about 10x SLOWER than an old USB 2 drive.
The issue is thermal throttling and there's nothing you can do to fix it. It's a very poor design and a bad product.
I sent it back.

Read speeds go up to 400 mb/s, but write speeds are hard-capped at 6 mb/s. This is throttling at best and I would not recommend buying this portable solid-state drive.

I shopped around and waited for a price drop. I treat my external SSDs as fragile because I have put stuff on them that is valuable. Physically they appear well built. I have three of them. will buy more as the price warrants.

The device has value for money it terms of it's high storage capacity to price ratio, however, the speed for which you can install large files such as games for instance is very slow (1-10kbps) installing a medium sized game (World of tanks) which took well over 6 hours, even with high speed ethernet. I also used the device with my xbox one x, it performs as a console loading preinstalled games slightly faster with the external SSD attached, however installing the same medium sized game over the same high speed ethernet using my xbox one x, the device performed even slower, (1-5kbps) and I actually decided to cancel the install 6 hours in.
Overall, if you want to use this SSD as a form of minor performance enhancement for your PC or console, or to safely store small to medium sized files, I'd recommend this SSD as it's rugged and reliable, as for the abysmal speeds, this device is not for me.

I bought this to help speed up loading times on my Xbox One. I plugged it in the back and the Xbox prompted me to format it. I chose the games and apps storage option to get the benefit of faster loading. After a few seconds it was ready to go. Then I selected the games I wanted to move to the new drive. It took about 10 minutes per game to move so I just turned it off and came back later for my games to be moved. Now the load times are amazingly fast! I’m playing Division 2 and load times have been cut in half or even more. It’s totally worth the money and you will notice the change immediately! I wish I bought one sooner.

when i plugged this into my pc and checked to make sure the specs were right it registering as a hard drive. So my pc is wrong or this is being falsely advertised

Used it for Time Machine backup on a Macbook and the write speed is terribly slow. Estimated to take 8hours to backup 160GB (still running so can’t confirm the actual time). Read up Time Machine requires the backup disk to be erased to HFS+ format so thought that could be why. Partitioned part of the SSD to APFS (newer format type) and ran speed test on it with blackmagic. Got result of 40MB/s for both read and write.
I might have missed some setup to make it perform better but so far the actual result is so far from the advertised 400MB/s. :(

You're better off getting a large sized USB stick or a conventional external HDD if you're moving lots of files at once. When the ADATA SSD heats up the transfer speeds become as slow as a standard HDD/USB stick. It's not horrible, but you definitely get what you pay for. 3/5 Stars.
