Pro:
+ Sehr tolle Farben & Contrast
+ Gutes schlichtes "Gamingdesigne"
+ 144 Hz
+ IPS
○ Innoluxpanel (Besseres Bild / Schlechtere Reaktionszeit)
I have no issues with dead pixels which other reviewers mentioned.
Have been using the monitor for gaming and work and it has been brilliant for both, noticeable improvement for gaming over my old 60Hz monitor, just make sure your PC can hit the 144 Frame per second for your game of choice to keep up with the refresh rate, I set my refresh rate to 120Hz when playing call of duty modern warfare as that`s what my computer can comfortably run ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Frameless bezels look great, it is VESA mountable also so I have more space on my desk. There are 2 HDMI outputs and a display port output along with a headphone jack. Didn't realise until just now but there are also speakers built in, they are not the best.
Be sure to use the display port connection to actually use the 144Hz refresh rate, you will need to enable it by going to Display Settings>Advanced Display Settings> Display Adaptor Properties and then clicking the list all modes button and choosing the refresh rate you want. You wont get more than 60Hz refresh rate using HDMI ports, display port cable comes in the box.
This is my second Acer monitor and again I am happy with my purchase.
Colour range is far improved from the TN panel's offerings, offering noticably darker blacks and more vibrant colours across the board, and there seems to be no noticeable delay when it comes to mouse movements and gaming between the two monitors.
My only minor complaints are the lack of adjustable stand (which is to be expected at this price point), and a VERY minor blurring that can happen with fast movements on FPS games (mainly CSGO but I have yet to test this with other titles) which I believe is down to the monitor quickly changing colours/brightness. This is a compromise you make for a monitor that is better in most departments than a TN panel, in my opinion, and will likely make no difference to most people.
Let's start with the positives:
- screen quality is exceptional, colours are vivid, display is bright and despite what others have said the 'zero bezel' is as close as you'll get at this price point for a 1440p 144hz monitor without compromising elsewhere
- no noticeable ghosting, even during fast paced games like Warzone
- stand is sturdy (not sure if others arent tightening the screws enough)
- OSD is easy to navigate and settings are all laid out sensibly
- Windows will detect 144hz out the box, and you have the options of 60hz or 120hz too.
- Freesync is great if you have a compatible gfx card.
Cons:
- IPS Glow is a bit distracting upon start up. It's not back light bleed however and other reviewers seem to be confused about this. Not enough tho to mark it's score down as I've seen worse on IPS TVs and laptops costing double.
- VRB is a gimmick imo. Other than making the desktop flicker while it's active, I'm not seeing any benefit in games.
HDR:
Elephant in the room on these reviews, but the HDR works ok depending on what you're using it for. For example, F1 2019 works an absolute treat. Just fire HDR on in game and switch the monitor to HDR mode and it looks great. However, Resident Evil 2 looks washed out UNLESS you change the in game colour palette, then it looks ace. I would ignore using Windows HDR mode and let the game engine use it as the windows one is a bit washed out/dark. Most games should look good but will require tweaking as developers seem to have a struggle consistently applying the technology.
The only thing which is bad is the bleed and IPS glow. The glow isn't too bad with everyday use.
The bleed is bad in 2 spots but without paying £600+ you need to accept it won't be perfect.
OSD is a little clunky and the buttons feel cheap but these are not picks.
Good overall, surprisingly.
The IPS is better than all the VA models I tried by far, less grain to the image.
So far all is good.
The panel itself seems perfect, not a single dead or stuck pixel. The backlight bleed does exist, but perfectly even and noticeably better than my previous monitor. IPS panels just don't do inky blacks at this price range, so some bleed is normal.
Will need to tweak the colour profiles to get to my liking, but even out the box the picture is good with good vibrancy.
I was hesitant to buy this due to some of the negative reviews and Acer's notoriously bad QC, but it was the only IPS 1440p 144hz monitor in my price range. Glad I went with it.
Firstly, the question everyone is asking. Yes, there is screen bleed.
If you've a dark static background, you will notice it when it's dark in the room.
However, it doesn't bother me at all, I've some blue lighting for night time so that may be why.
The colours are awesome, speakers are a bit rubbish, but if you're spending this money on a monitor, you more than likely will have a dedicated sound system.
I'd recommend this product despite it's faults. Cracking piece of kit, check the spec list!
well I'm glad i did. This monitor is superb. I went from a 1080 TN 1ms benQ to this 1440 IPS.
My PC is mainly used for gaming. I play PUBG and Modern warefare at 144 FPS locked on 1440 at 144hz with g sync enabled. I find the response time is practically the same as my 1ms 1080 tn panel. I havent noticed any input lag. But it looks beautiful now.
The stand doesnt bother me. my screen stays in the same place. and the back light bleed is unnoticeable in high speed gaming. i've watched a few films as well and it look stunning.
The screen is so good i'm not bothering to even try the Aorus now. whats the point? Looking at the black Friday price i'm considering getting a second.
Only gripe with this monitor is the stand which is a bit wobbly. But id you have it on a solid table this shouldn't be a problem, mine only moves in I actually touch it which I never do anyway so not a big deal for myeslf. Considering the price if this was a huge issue you could always buy a 3rd party stand.
Zero dead pixels, no back-light bleed, the screen is phenomenal as both a working monitor (that's some sharp text!) and also for high refresh rate gaming.
My only slight gripe is the length of the power cable, bit on the short side which means when I move the monitor on its arm the power cable frequently dislodges itself. Nothing some good cable management won't fix though.
10/10
When it came to gaming, the motion blur was quite high, and on the lowest response time there was noticeable inverse ghosting. Enabling VRB mode seemed to remove the motion blur, but the ghosting was still present and the picture was unpleasant to look at, it's hard to describe but whenever I moved my eyes there was a flash of colour which made gaming with VRB on unplayable.
If you are a casual gamer who doesn't have an eye for monitor defects or doesn't mind motion blur then it's okay for the price, but there are much better options out there.
Overall very happy with product
Joe
