I researched about hard drives, and found that for most home uses, the Western Digital Cavier Blue (not Green or Black) is what one wants when replacing their crashed hard drive (if one prefers to use Western Digital). The Windows 7 Home Premium kept failing because the BIOS keep losing the hard drive (wouldn't recognize that I had one). I backed up all the data on my Windows XP computer, except MS Office 2007. I used a cloning program to try to clone the old hard drive to the new hard drive - no luck. I tried using an ISO file that I downloaded from DigitalRiver, to try to "fix" the hard drive - no luck (The Windows 7 never had a recovery disk made and yes, I burned it correctly using Imgburn). I cloned my Windows Xp SP3 32 bit to the new hard drive, but the old machine was set up for 64 bit and the only way to change to a 32 bit would be to re-format the hard drive. I didn't want to do that as I would lose everything. So, I ended up re-installing Windows 7, which formats and partitions the hard drive, and then installing MS Office 2003. Everything works fine now with all data recouped from my Windows XP machine. Time will tell, but I have been a fan of Western Digital for the last 20 years.

Used this to replace a failed drive. No problems with install or formatting and loading the OS. Performance was as expected from WD. Its not a high performance drive but works great and great price.

I don't know how you can write a review on a hard drive that is only a couple of months old. So far, I have had no problems loading the OS and programs. I have two of these in my new build. They are quiet and run cool. I have use WD drives for all of my builds with no problems, even after 3 years of operation; but this is the first time using the Blue versions. I will post an update later.

I bought two for my first-ever computer build for use in a RAID 1 array. Both perform well and are surprisingly quiet. I have had no problems with these drives whatsoever.

I put this drive in a mini atx case. It runs quiet and cool. For a 7200 rpm, it's fast.pro's: fast; 64mb cache; runs cool; pricecons: Could have included a cable and instructionsNeutral: It's not really any quieter than other top brand HD'sI would buy it again. If you don't need a cable and instruction book, I don't see how you could go wrong with this choice.

I bought this a few months ago to replace my desktop hard drive that failed and am happy with it. I'm running Windows 8 Pro and use BitLocker encryption and everything works well. It's quiet and performs as you would expect a 7200 RPM hard drive to perform.

Plugged it in , formatted and boots fine. 7200 RPM. Good price and fast delivery. Same size as the 7200 in my laptop so I can clone .
