1. Amazon seller sold us a used Vivo U20. We could clearly see fingerprints on the case cover and a small scratch on the display. We wanted to return this, but we were afraid that we would get a worse piece than this.
So kindly understand that the review we are doing here may not be for a new smartphone. It may be for a used one. We don't know.
Vivo Camera:
2. Camera is good, but lacks sharpness in auto mode when light does not fall directly on the face, especially when the light source is behind the person. It is because Vivo camera software optimizes the facial image colors to look the same color as it looks to the naked eye. But it does a good job here. Also in this case, when the light source is behind the object in focus, the object brightness is increased by the software, but due to this, the background brightness also increases to the extent of whitewashing out all the background picture.
3. Low light: Night mode does not work as good as normal mode with increased exposure. Night mode brings reddish images in case the light source's color is towards the infrared spectrum and vice versa, while normal mode with increased exposure reproduces close-to-correct colors but also brings more grainy pictures.
What is worth noting here is - even Vivo Z1 Pro has the Sony IMX499 camera sensor. And in low light, both Vivo Z1 Pro and Vivo U20 struggle to capture details.
4. 10X zoom doesn't work properly at all in night mode or normal mode. Only pure noise is seen, which is understandable.
5. Video focusing is not fast. We need to tap multiple times to focus an object in video; and while taking a video in frequent movement, the focus is worse.
6. Rear camera struggles to focus during video at night/low light.
7. EIS in video recording shows vibrations in the video which is a bit disappointing. Front camera doesn't have EIS.
Vivo OS:
8. The OS functionality is awesome. Control panel is given in the downside so it is more convenient for fingers to reach.
9. Battery optimisation is an important issue here. Though 5000 mAh, it is not used effectively. During night the battery level drops by 6 to 20% or even more based on network, ram and app type and device hardware sensors activation. Stand By mode takes 11% of the battery even though the smartphone is in data saving and low power mode. Low power mode does not work wonders. From 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM next day, the battery decreased from 76% to 67% using low power mode.
10. There should be a customisation given to add/edit/delete the Shortcut Centre icons.
11. Presently dark theme is not for selected apps. It is given for throughout the OS. Whitelisting of apps should be provided for dark theme also as given for data saving mode.
12. Bloatwares. We should have the control on needing/not needing the apps.
14. App switch shortcut on square button at bottom is not smooth. It doesn't happen quickly.
Hardware:
15. The phone is heavy to handle. Physical optimization could be done to decrease the weight of the device. We need Graphene now.
16. Look of the phone is good from outside.
17. Call quality and signal reception is really good.
18. Dual active sims technology should've been there - so we know who is calling us through the SIM2 when we are talking through SIM1. Both SIMs should be able to work independently and dead locks should be facilitated to manually override/prioritize. This technology is missing.
19. Simultaneous multisim + multi-channel-wifi network usage is missing.
20. Though Vivo U20 claimed UFS 2.1 storage, in daily usage we won't find much of a difference. We did the storage speed test using 4 different speed testing apps available on Google Play Store, and have compared the speeds with emmc storage smartphones.
Sequential and random read speeds with other emmc smartphones are comparable, but write speeds of Vivo U20 storage are twice that of emmc smartphones.
21. The battery in Vivo U20 discharges faster on using WiFi compared to Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
SD 675:
It seems proper optimization of processor for Vivo U20 is not done properly as SD 636 as well as SD 675 perform with almost the same speed for daily use apps though there's a difference of A53, A73 (Kryo 260) and A55, A76 (Kryo 460). May be it would be evident during gaming or graphics intensive tasks.
For most of the above concerns, software updates have to be given by Vivo Team.
Please note that our experience may not be the same for all. That is why we need your experience shared here in review section so Vivo can work on these pain points and resolve them through OTA software updates.
Vivo, kindly take all these suggestions into consideration and send us software updates soon.

6/ Battery Charging speed :- 11/10,

I think this smartphone is really good at gaming, I played PUBG in HDR+ Extreme and there is no so much lagging, only thing is in HDR+ Extreme we hardly get 30 to 35 FPS. But in HD+ Extreme there is no lagging issues and we can get allmost 40 to 44 FPS, and into the Balance+ Extreme graphics we can get allmost 45 to 50 FPS, but in Smooth+ Extreme graphics we definitely get 56 to 60 FPS. But in stock settings we only get HD+ High frame rate options, also in Smooth graphics we can't get the Ultra frame rate options. That's little bit disappointing but we can change it through the GFX tool. In Call of Duty Mobile we can get the all graphics options Very high+ Max FPS options in the stock settings, so also there is no lagging issues.
We can play every games into there highest graphics settings without any lag. For PUBG I basically used GFX toos. In GFX tool the PUBG gaming experience is much more amezing with the 60 FPS. It's the best gaming smartphone witch is ever used! And also the Battery life is so strong, once I charged the Mobile fully then I can play PUBG for atleast 9 hours. The Mobile needs so musch instance gaming for heat up, yes it heat's up very lowly but the temperature never cross the 44°C. So, it doesn't have any kinds of heating issues.
That was really a good quality product in budget price range. I bought this 6GB Ram+ 64GB Rom veriant only for 13,000/-
• Cons :- 1/ It doesn't have a highly important feature! I don't found any options into the settings for transferring app's to the SD card, we just can't move the app's into the SD Card, it helps us for getting some more free storage into the device storage, but there is no option for this! That's so strange! And that was really disappointing.
2/ There is no pre-installed official FM Radio app from the Vivo, that's little bet disappointing.
3/ The camera needs so many upgrades on the picture quality.
4/ They provide's so many unnecessery pre-installed apps but the good things is we can remove them.
And thanks to the Amazon for fast and safe delivery, also thanks to the Vivo for this grate gaming phone.
I bought it on March 2020, and today's June2021. So, everything is ok with phone. Voice issue is due to dust passing over time is ususal. Camera quality is excellent.
Night mode can be improved in future.
Face and fingerprint unlock is good.
Funtouch OS is childish and cluttered. Lot of settings are provided just for the sake of being 'different' but the overall effect ends up being counter intuitive - for example swiping up for screenshot rather than down. Taking a long screenshot and/ or creating a split screen is unnecessarily complicated with requirement of more taps rather than being a simple affair as in other OS skins. Swiping up for accessing control center shortcuts is an irritant as it sometimes brings up the 'recent apps' screen or the 'docked apps' if using a custom launcher.
The camera UI can do with a complete makeover and as such is rudimentary compared to other mobiles! The only saving grace is that the cam2api is compatible with open camera which bestows more control over the photography. The camera and sensor performance is at par with mobiles of this price point category.
No complaints with the screen, system performance and battery charging/ backup.
Phone self test feature is missing.
The updates (have received one update so far) install without change log information - go figure!!!
A major point of angst is the misleading paid reviews which claimed the Phone has FM radio. However, in actual fact the phone does not ship with the FM radio chip (Also confirmed from the support staff, who - just to mention - were found to be clueless regarding the difference between an internet FM radio and actual terrestrial FM radio. They kept insisting to install any FM app from google play store - Go figure!!!
All in all a mixed bag - some good - rest mostly just hype!!! In my personal opinion, such a mobile is overpriced at this price point even with the deals thrown in. Would probably avoid patronizing Vivo products in future!
Cons-
1. Camera is good but the gives noisy pictures. I think Realme and Xiaomi phone with lesser MP camera gives better pictures.
2. Slightly on the heavier side and the phone is a bit bulky too.
3. 5k mAh battery is quite effective. Fast charger is just the normal micro USB charge that you get with any 10k phone. My Realme 1 charger purchased in early 2019 charges phones faster.
Pros-
1. Phone's operation is smooth and Face Unlock and Finger print reader response is amazingly fast.
2. The best thing about VIVO is its EasyShare app. It helps you transfer all data (Media files, Contacts, Call Logs, Calendar Events, Apps, etc) from any Android phone. The only thing that you have to be careful with this app is that if you transfer contacts from old phone and if you already have the same list saves on your Google account, you are likely to have duplicates when you sync your new phone with Google Contacts.
Getting adapted to VIVO phones- There are a few features that works differently on VIVO phones. You'll need to get adapted to them if you are switching from a different Android phone brand.
1. Quick menu is displayed when you swipe Bottom up as against Top down in any other Android phone
2. For a screenshot, you have to swipe three fingers bottom up as against Top down in any other Android phone brand.
All in all its a decent phone to have in the price range.
Display:
everything is fine, display size is big but even in full brightness it's hard to read in good 🌞 light. I was using Samsungs j 6 can't compare the quality with it
Heating:
the phones heats up significantly while playing pubg.
Camera :
Camera is good with lot details but not rich in color or color boost like in redme note 8 or realme range. Selfe you won't be disappointed. Night shots are better without night mode itself. Wife angle details missing.
Performance:
For heavy games this phone is excellent price range I am not kidding it loaded even faster than s10 I with game mode on intially the performance was upto the mark after a update I find slight lags 3 out 10 times while playing pubg
Other loading of apps is quicker since it has ufs 2.0 never had a problem once.
Charger: 18 fast charger is more than enough but takes little longer than usual since it's 5000 mAh and battery optimization could have been better.
Other options: there is lot of UI modifications support since it's a funtouch OS. Buit is plastic but okay coz many of us use some sort of protection phone feels bit slippery even though it's plastic. If you know how to coustomise funtouch OS it wouldn't be a problem using funtouch OS would be really good. Wifi calling is available face unlock and finger print scanner are faster but no type C no fm

Pros:
1.Big 6.5"inch Fullhd+ display quality is really nice for watching movies and gaming.
1.Camera performance of front and back is Good.
2.Snapdragon 675AIE processor is main highlight of Vivo U20. You can play pubg in smooth + ultra.and maximum Hd+Hd graphics settings with no lags.but mobile warms very little.
3.About it's 5000mAh Massive battery ? you get one and half day battery backup with heavy usage.only pubg consumes more battery but not that much. For 1 TDM match it consumes 2% to 3% battery drop.
4.About Vivos Funtouch OS ? Personally i like it, easy to use and comes with many interesting features.
5.Face unlock is super fast and really impressive. And fingerprint is also fast.
6.Light weight.
Cons :
Very few cons and i it doesn't matters.
1.No glass back.
2.Micro usb.
3.In the camera app back and front portrait mode is not working maybe it fix with upcoming s/w updates.but there is bookeh mode only in rear camera so you can take portrait shots.
4.Night Mode is below average.
5.After 90 to 95% charging speed is slow.
