I didn't have to do anything but plug it into the USB port. It sucked up all my documents. Now they are safe if my computer dies. I have an ibook G4.

I took a risk and ordered this product even though it had 0 reviews prior to my order on Amazon. I have to say I am IN LOVE with this product. The drive is tiny and it comes with its very own carrying case. Overall it looks more like a little pocket book than a hard drive.It comes with a usb cable with dual connections just in case you need to get more juice out of your machine.Product comes with a two year warranty so you are covered there.Aesthetically, the product is a beauty. It is mostly chrome finish on top with some translucent black near the bottom. The underside consists of some type of non slip rubbery finish. Looks great.. sure beats anything else I have seen.The only downside I can see is that the Chrome finish tends to pick up alot of "finger print smudges".

No gripes so far on this item, it comes with a USB cable and a nice zipper case that fits almost exactly with the hard drive. You dont need a sotware to run it on windows vista, you just need to connect it to the USB port to get ready the speed transfer is quite a bit fast (USB 2.0 up to 480MBs) a blue LED indicates the data transfer activity, you cant go wrong with this external HD....highly recommeded
