An Excellent Router
It looks a bit like an Alien Spacecraft and is much larger than my previous TP-Link router.
However, the Router was easy to set up and improved my WiFi coverage, while also giving me a speed boost.

Archer c5400x
Very simple to set up, interface is very helpful, easy to alter anything from the app, has built in speedchecker.
In use it is as blazing fast as advertised, my already quick speed went from 170 mb to 480mb instantly, a bit expensive but even with more than 20 devices connected it still blows my old one away.
Very happy with purchase and AO delivered much quicker than it should have been ??

I will leave an update if the router will loose its wireless power, that happens with many late models of wireless routers, including LinkSys, D-Links and Microtiks. The router TP-Link 2543 was easy to install. You do not need, actually, the disk.Just type 192.168.0.1 in Internet browsertype under user name:adminand under password: adminThen change:in System tools - password for router (old name and password - admin) to new one (write it down)andin Wireless tab:type your network name (SSID) next to Wireless Network Name:in Wireless tab/ Wireless security:select WPA/WPA2 - Personal(Recommended)select and write down your Wireless Password:**** to connect your wireless devices to your networkin Wireless Settings selectMode 11 bgn mixed, channel width "auto" or 40Mhz,and your Max Tx Rate should be 450Mbps.You should clone your PC's MAC address in router also:Network / MAC clone / Your PC's MAC Address: 00-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx - Clone address (press button, then save)That's it. You good to go.With these settings Windows System Monitor showswired speed 100Mbps (NIC limitations) and300Mbps - wireless speed (not 450 though).I connected by LAN ports and had no problems with 2 printers an blu ray player. Netlix works flawlessly so far.Laptops and iMAC (2006), Android tablet all work under this router and did not have so far connections issues.Router is compatible with Zoom 5241 cable modem which is compatible with Comcast (I'm using 5241 for 4 years now).Wireless speed did not drop through the wood wall (still 300Mbps)The TP-Link does not produce too much heat. It's barely warm. For those who think, that this router can help to block a facebook, it won't. Parental Control is a joke. It gives you permission to "Allow access to certain web sites" only. Let's say you'll allow google.com only, then in search result you won't be able to open any link.Through "Access control"/"Target" (buttons) you can block any simple website by key word, but facebook. It drives me crazy... I was hoping to restrict this destruction for my kid. LinkSys WRT54G, at least, had a HTTPS port filter. TP-Link interface - does not.I was able to upgrade the firmware to openwrt from OpenWRT dot org site with package( openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr2543-v1-jffs2-factory ) It did not make the router any faster. Actually, with increasing transmission power up to 500mW, the router shown speedfor wired connection: 120Mbps (maximum)and for wireless: 60Mbps(maximum).OpenWRT router interface shown, that the Wireless connection was dropping from time to time completely at channel - 11. But it came to normal on channel - 6 (90-100% strength). It did not happen with original TP-Link firmware.I know that the openwrt should give you more info and possibilities, but if you know exactly what you do. I did not find a way to block a facebook through this interface neither. It's an evil...In the end, playing with settings, at one moment the interface of openwrt, based on LuCI just went black and then I had no access to TP-Link router interface. 192.168.1.1 shown blank page. And router's LED with lock icon was on. I could not even ping it (ping 192.168.1.1 for openwrt). I had to connect my old LinkSys to make a research of information to revive this TP-Link.To make it pingable turn router on and press repeatedly at Reset and WPS buttons on the back of router for 5-10 seconds. it will make router reachable and you'll have ping again. Then use wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr2543nd for instruction to revive interface page trough fail safe mode. You can go to Open WRT dot org or try Youtube and forums. And you can download original TP-Link firmware from their official site, searching by model name. Or just google "Download for TL-WR2543ND". In search result should be a correct direct link. I downloaded from TL-WR2543ND_V1_121207 thumbnail link. It exists on day of this review. This will help you to bring router interface back if you have not bricked yet your router with wrong version of firmware. In two words I ended up with rewriting back original firmware (wr2543.bin). It was v1.0 though, not v1.2 because tp-link site does not have it (that was awkward). So my TP-Link 2543 is alive again now.If you won't kill somehow openwrt interface you may return TP-Link's original firmware back, without using telnet or Putty, but OpenWRT graphical interface. All in all. this is a tough router to kill, so far. If its electrical components will not fail (hopefully) I may keep it for very long time. My old Linksys WRH54G served me for 8 years and still kicking.Good luck!

It worked very well in the first month. After about a month, it started to give problem with wireless signal and connection keeps dropping. Disconnection became more and more frequent until it reached to unusable state (3 seconds connected, drop, get connected again for 3 seconds, drop). Upgrading firmware didn't solve the problem. Tried installing OpenWrt and still not working. My conclusion is hardware issue. Called up the support to complain about it and, after three calls, they agreed to fix the router and said it would take 2 months! I stayed away from TP-Link since then. Worst home networking nightmare to me.Pros: Cheap. Rich in features. UI is quite nice. Signal is strong.Cons: Hardware issue as mentioned above. Poor support/service.Conclusion: If you MUST buy this brand, just hope that luck is on your side.

I believe this is my third TP-link router. All have worked great! None has ever gone bad; they are so reasonably priced I just cannot resist upgrading now and then. The thing that initially sold me on TP-Link were reviews that said how easy they are to set up. I have been using PCs regularly and avidly since they came out in the early 80s, but I still find networking a bit of a mystery. At my age I have lost patience with devices that require hours to figure out. I just want something quick to set up and reliable. That's TP-Link. I have had this one for a few months now and love it as much as the earlier ones. If you know the basics of setting up a router it might be easier to not use the setup CD. If not, just let the CD guide you. This TP-Link router is a great value for home use!As another reviewer has already noted, although this is a dual-band router it is not a simultaneous dual-band, ie, uses one for upstream and one for downstream. If you need that, TP-Link does have a new N900 450 Mbps dual-band that does.

This router is the best one i ever had since i connected to my new pc the gigaethernet light turns on and when i test wifi connection i really see more faster download from my streaming server, now i may have more than 6 devices running HD files from my streaming server, highly recommended router and great price, and the port for usb 2.0 looks a great solution for a personal ftp(still have no tested it) at this time only may see good things in this router at great price, if you want more speed on wifi and ethernet this is you better choice.(sure you need have devices compatible with that great speed too)

This router has a dual-band, single radio WiFi AP with 3 data stream capability. It works in either 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands, but not simultaneously in both bands as it is not a dual radio product. I was initially disappointed with it when after about 6 weeks of usage, I lost Internet connectivity and had to reboot the router. But, the problem turned out to be my Motorola cable modem, which still needs to be rebooted once every 6-8 weeks. I've had the TP=Link router turned on for over4 months now, and it works flawlessly. This is a terrific product, though I hate the way it looks, with its rounded edges. I bought a second one for range extension and they work well together.

This router was easy to set up with the software CD provided and later when I wanted to login to the unit online it has a wonderful interface setup that is east to understand with good graphics that explain every setting; it made me very confident to make changes to the settings. It has been running for weeks now with no problems. Everything I have connected to it wi-fi shows a super connection, higher than all my neighbors wi-fi. I expect them to notice.

I have this router at the office, hanging by the ceiling. We have about 10-15 people sharing network over wi-fi and access seems reliable. Here is a speed test (using WebPass) from a laptop located about 30 feet away from the router (but no walls in between): [...] (getting 20Mbps download, 20Mbps upload, and 7ms ping time). We've been now running it for one month.Given that we are using consumer grade router for office wi-fi with 10+ users, I think this router is holding up quite well. We did notice general slowness of the network when some people actively using DropBox over wifi, but this is sort of expected if you are moving 1Gb files around over wifi. Don't do that :)I have a prior experience running Netgear, DLink, Apple Airport Base station, and Cisco. This router does it's inglorious job for not a lot of cash, and for that I gave it five stars.
