This is probably the most solid joystick I've ever seen. Pure pleasure to use. It is pretty large and heavy. Need some room for it. Expensive but well made.

The construction is top quality, heavy joystick, and real toggle switches.The joystick accuracy is good, however the design of the "gimble" spring mechanism is flawed, and agricultural.It can easily be modified, but I expected more for the price.ALso the "TARGET" script editing software takes some time to learn how to use.

What can I say. If you got the money and want the best, why not blow it on the Thrusmaster Hotas Warthog for your flight sim game?These joysticks are some serious hardware. Each weighing over 15-20 lbs each my guess....wow. You will surprise anyone with these no problem.Personally, I think they main purpose really is for the DSC-A10C Game. Since they are a replica from the plane, this is the stuff you will want to fly with in your mind blowing DSC-A10C Game.Everything on the controllers are very well built, with great quality and it feels very real. Lots of buttons and the LEDs that light up are very nice and packaged very carefully. Combine the Thrustmaster MFDs and now your rocking.Comes with software which you can even customize the LED intensity as well as key mappings etc.You want the best joysticks for your fligh sim PC? This is it. Period.

if you dont know what a hotas is, leave cause you don't belong here, or, look it up and continue.this is the last joystick/throttle i will ever buy. Not because I am dissatisfied, rather the opposite. you see the price....and you say..."noooooo wayyyy"....I did too....but hearing the sterling reviews,....and knowing amazon's liberal return policy...i bit....btw, I am typing on thee Tsir tech Ipad2 keyboard, and what you see is what you get. I refuse to NOT use the right pinky for caps, which it does NOT have.....nuff about that.the hotas compared to all and I mean all, others is like comparing a vw to a Porsche....plain and simple. the(no right shift, remember) Joystick is an all metal replica of the f-16's keeping in mind that the real f-16 joy stik does not move and this one, designed specifically for the A-10 warthog, does ...wonderfully, exactly,smoothly,gloriously....and is just lovely with either fsx or with DCS's A-10 Warthog...mapping by default each switch and button exactly...it IS the Warthog A-10C's Hotas!! It is all metal, and has the exact button feel of the real thing.the throttle, is a metal base taken from the F15..is NOT metal...it feels like the real thing should feel...the grips are so sturdy, only a shaped charge would break them....a stick of dynamite would not.....In the Warthog, the real Warthog, the independent throttle quadrant isn't metal either...its a composite, more like carbon fiber, check out the real one via bing or google.other than for repairs, which considering the construction and Hall Effect sensors, looks like, and feels like it never will... this Hotas is NEVER leaving my posession, lest I have to declare bankruptcy and need the cash.I am not sending back this.....nay porshe, Lamborghini of hotasses.chas

The warthog is a good product, I would've given it 5 stars, but unfortunately for Thrustmaster, as with its past Cougar debacle, missed a QC issue. Many users, including me, have noticed that the stick has a 'stiction' issue - that is, if you hold the stick at a position, then try to make a slow and fine adjustment, inevitablely you make too much correction due to bumps.The static friction is much greater than dynamic friction so when making precision work such as gunnery and formation flying, it's rather frustrating. My first unit (which died but was replaced) was smooth at first, but after one month of use, the stiction came about. The replacement unit had stiction from start. Some users have reported that they do not have this issue, while other do. [...]The joystick sensor is very accurate, but it's rendered entirely moot if mechanical accuracy is not there.The solution is to take the joystick base apart and replace the existing grease with a better plastic safe grease. It's not hard but soldering is most likely required as breaking wire is almost certain if you don't know what you are doing. I've replaced the grease with Molykote EM-30L as suggested in the forum and now the stick is buttery smooth.Of course, the Warthog is otherwise very awesome to behold and stiction is not as apparent unless you are doing precision flying. The construction is solid, I just wished that Thrustmaster had opted for a better grease. Had I known this problem and didn't know how to fix it, I would not have paid the $500 - I'd expect better.

**WARNING**Do not attempt to upgrade joystick/throttle firmware while attached to a USB 3.0 port.I have a USB 2.0 hub, which is connected to a USB 3.0 port, because that's currently the only port available for use. The first thing I did after driver installation was upgrade the firmware. The joystick upgrade worked, but the throttle upgrade timed out. On subsequent tries, I just got an error instantly. So my brand new throttle was bricked. Can you imagine the feeling? After a quick Google, I learned it's some issue with USB 3.0 (the fix was to reflash from a USB 2.0 port, reported as not working by some people). So when you are going to upgrade the firmware, attach each unit to a USB 2.0 port.I think the good has been covered well enough in other reviews, so I will give you some things to watch out for:*If you have smaller hands, don't buy this.*The return-to-center spring on the stick is pretty strong. If you are playing combat sims, it may be more difficult to dogfight, as making small movements near the center will sometimes result in... returning to center on accident. I think with a little practice, I can get used to this.*Obviously you need to buy rudder pedals. Honestly, that's a bit of a bummer.*The stick and throttle are not only ~20lbs. together, but they also sport quite a large base. You will need quite a bit of room for this setup.That's all I have for now.

The HOTAS is plain awesome when it works. The programming software takes some time to learn, but once you get it going, it's the best there is out there. However, since owning this thing for 6 months or so. I am on my second RMA. Shortly after I purchased this HOTAS, the firmware fried the unit, it would not respond, had to send it back for repairs to Canada which is not cheap from my state. Problem number two just occurred with one of the throttle buttons going out. Support wants me to RMA it again. Once again, not cheap to send this back for repairs. Thrustmaster is willing to fix the product but the RMA process is about a 4 week turn around and it is expensive to the end user considering I paid $500 for the best system out on the market but seems to have some quality issues. Needless to say I am frustrated with TM.You should also know TM is willing to refund shipping charges, but they require your bank account information in an email in order to process the refund. There escalation process is horrible and there support although willing to work with in the their own policy constraints are not very customer centered from what I have seen so far. Again, great HOTAS if it works. Hopefully you don't get stuck with a lemon like I did...

I received this kit from a contest about a month ago and it has performed flawlessly during that time with well over 20 hours of game time using it.I wrote a review for my former TM Cougar HOTAS (http://www.amazon.com/review/R329NM8PE25CQJ/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm) and while I owned that particular piece of gear I thought it was the best that I had owned at the time...this piece of equipment simply blows all others I have owned out of the water. I have owned gear from CH, Saitek, Logitech, Gravis, Suncom (now out of business) and each time I continue to come back to Thrustmaster gear.This Warthog has a superior feel to it with the ball joint on the stick portion and the split throttles allow some great customization of the controls and how you can work a single or multiple engine aircraft in games. The one problem I have is with the programming software and trying to understand it out of the box...well you have to download it directly from Thrustmaster but you should know that going into the purchase.For connectivity I have tried this hardware on operating systems from Windows XP up to Windows 7 64bit and it is recognized immediately and operates as advertised by the manufacturer. I feel that I must let you know that there are some people reporting loss of the throttle response randomly and as a result the manufacturer has released an updated firmware that is reportedly fixing many of the "bricked/dead" throttle units. However a few are having to be sent back to the manufacturer and replaced with new parts to take care of the problem. [...]If you want to spend the money then you will not be disappointed. Again this is the best flight simulation gaming gear that I have had the opportunity to use in my 20+ years of playing flight simulation games. [...]

I got this joystick since a month ago. Later found out that the x & y-axis is having problem so I emailed for tech support.However, at the rate of email responding, do not expect that you will get a world class after-sales support with the amount you have invested in. It took them nearly a week just to get a reply that doesn't even help to solve the problem.Now I've waited for almost 2 weeks since the last reply. The team that handles my tech support called themselves The Hercules Team. I was like... BUAHAHAHA... utterly rubbish.Would I buy Thrusmaster products again? Chances are NOT. Their products are above decent, however bare in mind that you are paying a bomb and when you have a problem, you are getting nothing less than a silver bullet.I would still recommend Saitek's x52-Pro Joystick, period

This thing is awesome. Well worth the money. It almost makes me want to build the whole pit so I can have more buttons switches and levers :). If you're serious about simming, (and especially love the A-10C in DCS:A-10C) and you're on the fence on this thing and can afford it, then you owe it to yourself to get this thing.

I finally retired my old Saitek X45 this year and needed a replacement that would take care of my flight sim needs for the next 5-7 years. After much searching, I decided upon this HOTAS because:1) It is a replica of the A-10, and I am currently simming in DCS's fantastic sim of the same name.2) It is exceptionally realistic.3) It is multiple game compatible and offers custom key mapping.4) It is very, very sturdy.After a bit of use now, I am very pleased with this purchase. It is incredibly accurate and smooth with its inputs and the buttons and switches are military grade. Excellent job Thrustmaster!

This joystick and throttle combination look great and are sturdy feeling as can be and if that is all that mattered they would have 5 stars, but as is I have had them for a month and a half and I still don't have a working joystick. There technical support is horrible. I have sent in the joystick twice, having it refused on their end once. Their phone support is in france with people who only speak so so english and have no phone manners, they only contact you through email and only respond once every other day or so. I can not recommend a product at this price with customer support this bad, their are many other options out there, take them.

The best combat stick and throttle combo on the market right now hands down. If you use it with DCS: A-10c there is no issue with setting up profiles or any of that nonsense. True plug and play. All the switches and buttons have a very solid feel to them, fit and finish is top notch. Only real down side is that if you have small hands it might be a bit challenging to reach the weapons release button and trigger at the same time. If you have DCS A-10 and want true immersion in the simulation get this, you will not be disappointed.

I purchased the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS to replace a Thrustmaster Cougar (F-16) HOTAS when the joystick centering system casting broke after several years of loyal use. I am extremely happy with my purchase. The new system is well designed, engineered and constructed. It worked outstanding with the DCS A-10C simulation right out of the box. I was impressed with the accuracy and control of the joystick (my Cougar must have gotten a little sloppy in the many years I used it). One item that needed to be addressed that wasn't...the trim cap was really set up for views in the simulation rather than controlling the trim. This was fixed using the game setup control page(s). I would highly recommend this system for the advanced flight simmer or even the inexperienced simmer who can afford it. Now if I can only remember in the A-10C what all the various button and switches control while under combat situations!

The Hotas Warthog is the best stick n trottle ever! All metal construction, (very heavy), extremly well machined, being a former machinist apprhentice, I can tell quality work. Yes the price is high, you get what u pay for. This truly will be the last stick I will ever buy. If I ever wear it out, I'd certainly replace it with another Thrustmaster. Reach deep into your pocket, pay the bucks, you'll own the best stick in the world! Happy flying! See you in Aces High; vGazoo.

If you've got the dough, and want to feel a real A-10C HOTAS in your mitts, this is definitely for you.Works best with DCS A-10C. As far as using it with other flight sims, it can be done but its not as universal as say an X-52. The TARGET software allows you to create profiles, but its rather complicated. Also Asus motherboards with intel chipsets have been known to brick the throttles in some units, be wary of that. Mine is still functioning on my Sabertooth X-58.

I've been a flight simmer for several years and have owned several HOTAS and joysticks to include, Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 1&2, Saitek X-45,X-52 and X-52 Pro. I currently own a Thrustmaster Warthog and must say even though its expensive, its well worth the money. This is without a doubt the best HOTAS I've owned. The only CON is there's no adjustment to turn off or adjust the brightness of the LED lights, however, Thrustmaster indicates this option will be forthcoming in a future release of the software which is still in development.

This was gift for my husband, and he could not be more pleased. The throttle is fantastic, complete with realistic switches and setting options. The stick has an incredibly smooth motion. They are both beautiful, well-built, and very sturdy.
