I bought this phone mainly due to the stylish design, but I also considered the specs of the phone when I purchased it.The specs are a bit outdated for a 2012 android phone, and it doesn't have ICS out of the box, but it can but upgraded so that's not a big issue.Pros:1. Unique and stylish design. The transparent bar really shines in a low-light situation such as a restaurant or club.2. 12 MP camera, with a few apps this can produce very nice looking photos. The low light performance of the camera is a little bit on the noisy side, but a modded HDR camera app fixed the quality of the image very nicely.3. Dedicated camera button. This is very useful in many situations.4. Good speakers.5. mini HDMI port. Good for when you need to connect to external screen.6. Matte body and special finish. The chemically treated finish on the body makes it easy to wipe smudges and other marks off. Also, plastic body means that screen will be less likely to shatter if dropped. Does dent though.7. Very bright and sharp screen. I can easily see the screen outside in direct sunlight and at a angle. One of the highest ppi LCD screens as well.Cons:1. Power button is located at the top right corner of the phone. This makes it a bit awkward to press. The button placement on the phone is a little bit awkward in general.2. Capacitive buttons above the transparent LED bar is not super responsive unless you press it at exactly the right spot. This can take a bit of getting used to, but it is a source of frustration.3. No Android 4.0 (ICS) out of the box. This can be fixed via an update.4. Outdated hardware. The Xperia S has a S3 chip instead of the S4, so it's not as fast as other flagship android phones such as Samsung Galaxy S3, Nexus 4, or HTC One X.5. A unibody deisgn would've been nice since the battery is non-removable anyway. This would eliminate the gaps in the phone where dust can enter.6. Phone gets sluggish after a while if too many apps are open. Also, battery life isn't too good compared to other phones.

I own this product for about 2 months. I am quite happy with this phone. Yes, I love Sony and I always support them. This phone is battle tested during my 2 tours to China)DESIGN&ERGONOMICS:This phone has distinctive design and it's not Iphone that everybody around you has. Xperia S lies perfectly in hand, it's easier to hold than Iphone 4S or Samsung Galaxy S2. This phone is good for mens hands. This phone uses Micro SIM only. Comes with preinstalled screen protector.SOUND QUALITY, DISPLAY, CAMERA:Great sound quality for calls, nice selection of ringtones (some of them are very unusual). Display is also topnotch. Colors look more natural than on Iphone 4S and Galaxy S2. Camera makes good shots during outdoor sessions but a bit noiser in low light conditions. Still it's very good camera. I used this phone once to shoot a rock show, results were far from perfect. Sound was very messy.ANDROID APPS, GMAIL, SOCIAL NETWORKINGThere are plenty of apps for this phone. I have downloaded Amazon mobile which works perfectly. Also I have some other apps - Topface, Russian "Vkontakte" app and others. Gmail is very well made - it's easy to compose a letter, you can search thru your e-mails. My only gripe is about calculator - there are no M+, M- and MR buttons, which are very useful. Shame on you Sony! Anyway you can download free calculator from Google Play. Social networking is very convinient. I have even downloaded one game - "Wind-up Knight" which looks good and fun to play.BATTERY LIFE:I have never ran out of the juice completely but I can tell that usage of photo camera and Wi-Fi takes a lot of power. I am not big fan of smartphone gaming (I have PS Vita for gaming) that's why I can't comment on power consumption in games. All in all you can use it up to 3 days without recharging if you don't use much of Wi-Fi and camera.Another solid effort from Sony. Get well guys!)

This Sony Xperia S is probably one of the most elegant devices available in the market today, the LCD touch screen is ultra-crisp and clear and very responsive.The phone comes with fixed built in memory of 32 GB including 1 GB of RAM , with no additional memory slot, which in my opinion is more than I need. The phone is powered by a QUALCOMM Snapdragon dual core processor at 1.5 GHz, which I did not see big difference in applications yet to take advantage of this power compared to other Android phones I used.The battery is built in and cannot be replaced (unless by a qualified technician maybe). However, SONY provides hi-tech and Hi-Quality batteries you may never need to replace.The main HD camera of 12 MP is way below expectations from a big name like SONY, and takes a while until it adjusts itself in-focus which means the first few seconds to a minute of your video shooting is blurry and wasted. Still shots are great though as long as there is enough light.Here are the Pros and Cons I have observed so far:Pros: Runs every application on Google PlayScreen is amazingly clearHDMI output to HDMI equipped TVs (you need to buy the cable separately)Decent Front facing camera for Video callsEasily upgradeable to OS4.0 ICSIntegrates social networking applications such as Facebook, MSN Messenger and TwitterOffers FREE 50 GB of cloud storage via BOXCons:HD Camera below expectationsUSB charging rubber cover is expected to break in short time as I need to charge the phone every night.HDMI does not work with all TVsUses Micro-SIM which means you either need to request one from your carrier, or cut your existing one.The proximity sensor at the front is faulty and does not power up screen again when I move the phone away from my head.

It's amazing, it integrates smoothly with the Sony tablet, it looks awesome on the Sony Bravia (I can control it from the TV remote control and type using a bluetooth keyboard - no need to buy a smart tv! ).It has NFC that, along with the Sony Smart Tags, makes the cell phone very easy to use, I just touch the tag on my car and automatically starts the bluetooth, plays the music and opens the Waze; and when I leave the car, touch it again and turns off everything and saves me a lot of battery and manual set up.Is not that big as Samsung Galaxy SIII but that's because I like it, is more masculine, fits perfectly on my pocket (I'm a small person by the way), good weight and very nice design. The pictures cannot show you how cool it looks in real life.I haven't used the PlayStation yet, I'm not a gamer, but that's also something you will never find in another cellphone.The software for the PC is very nice and works perfectly. I can finally synchronize the music on my PC, my tablet and my cell phone in just one application.And finally, the NLA support is great, I can play my music on my TV or my wifi speakers in all the house with just one touch.Definetely my best cell phone, my next cell phone will be also a Sony (after a couple of years).

I bought this phone unlocked based on its unique design and features.Design: The Xperia SL has a distinct design. The back is curved making the phone easy to hold. On the front there is a clear strip indicating the back,home and menu buttons. The phone has some weight to it but it's not a bad thing as it feels more sturdy then other phones like the Galaxy S 3. Overall its design is unique and will appeal to people who want something different.Display: The 4.3" screen is bright and with a 1280 x 720 resolution the picture is very clear. The display is also scratch resistant which is a nice added bonus.Camera: The 12mp camera is great. It took well detailed photos in all environments including low light. There is also a front facing 1.3mp camera that's perfect for video chat.Battery: The battery is about middle of the pack when it comes to smartphones. I was able to squeeze about 12 hours with moderate texting and calling.Network: I use AT&T 3g and have found the speeds to be in line with other phone i have used.There are some negatives about the phone including a non user replaceable battery and no expandable memory card slot. Also the phone is not a 4g phone, just 3g.Overall this phone is great. It may not be perfect but the pros far outweigh the cons and i highly recommend it.

I got this phone because I wanted an unlocked international compatible smartphone that was a bit different. I had researched many different options, and I have always liked Sony products so I picked this up. Upon doing some research this is just an Xperia S with a factory overclock. It ships with ICS and supposedly come April we will be getting Jelly bean. Anyways onto the pros and cons:Pros:-Fast processor-Good amount of RAM-32 GB of storage-Screen is nice and big-Very unique phone-Good ergonomics and design-AMAZING cameraCons:-Signal will occasionally drop and re pickup, when it does this, the phone has a tendency to lock up (happens when traveling, freezes for about 10 seconds)-Vibrate motor is Loud-Cant expand the storage-Cant remove the battery-Doesn't have Jellybean yetI am using this phone on Tmobile in Southern California, and I can pick up Edge about 30% of the time, and the other 70% I'm on HSPA which is similar to 3g. When I went to Florida, I was able to pick up 3g. The data speeds are good on HSPA and 3g, but Edge is just plain slow. This is more of a carrier issue though.

Had gotten the phone with the box a bit smashed and was disappointed by it. I would take off 0.5 stars if I could. I think Amazon was the blame for it (or the seller), but everything came intact.The phone came unlocked as described with earphones, HDMI cable, USB charger (along with an universal wall adapter), two NFC tags, and the manuals.Though the phone was factory unlocked, it came with pre-loaded T-Mobile UK apps and a T-Mobile loading screen. It doesn't really bother me that much, but I was a bit surprised since I thought the phone was "factory clean".The device itself was exactly how I thought it would be after many hours of research. No disappointment.No yellow tinted screen so far, though it can appear over time. Hopefully, it won't appear on my device.ICS update will depend on the region where your device was manufactured. Sadly, there is no ICS update for my specific model yet and eventually Sony will release all the ICS updates for the Xperia S. With this said, the pre-installed OS Gingerbread is pretty good since Sony modified it a bit.(Note: For US buyers, 3G is only available thru AT&T. I'm with T-mobile, so I can only use 2G. Wireless works fine. MMS needs tweaking.)Bottom line: If you prefer looks over tech, I recommend this phone. It's really stylish and rather unique compared to leading phones. Unfortunately, the specs are behind modern technology, but if you don't mind about that, you will be happy with this purchase.I do want to mention that Sony is coming out with a successor to the Xperia S some time nearing the end of 2012. SO if you're not in a hurry, you should wait until then.

The screen display is super cool, definitely best display quality phone in market, not "One of". The battery has no problem at all. It only takes 2 and a half hours to charge from 0% to 100% and it lasts for several days which is absolutely acceptable. This phone is stylish and runs application fast. For me, replacing battery is not an issue. As long as you know how to use screwdriver you are fine. It uses a standard battery under the back cover. DIY! Don't think the battery is unreplaceable.I live in US and it's hard to purchase cases for this phone. It's not possible to get accessaries at your local mobile store due to it's unpopularity (that's what I want, hate to use Iphone or Samsung like millions of others) and the cases sold on Amazon are not appealing to me.And also the phone I received is with an European/Asian charger and seller did include an adaptor for US use. However, it's ugly and bulky. Otherwise I would give 5 stars.

The phone is absolutely gorgeous, and it is a pleasure to hold and look at. Screen resolution/quality are top notch, as is the sound quality. The Xperia SL provided the best sound quality I've had thus far on a phone. In comparison to other Sony phones... namely the Acro S, the S, the P, and the T/TL, this is probably the most balanced phone. It has the fastest processor, and the best screen size. It is not so large as to look cartoonish a la Samsung Galaxy SIII, but it is also large enough that give a great web browsing and reading experience.As to the Android issues I mentioned?-This phone is currently running Android ICS, and it will be mid 2013 before it sees an upgrade to Android Jelly Bean - the version of Android currently available.-There are occasional slow-downs and glitches, overall this phone is more stable then your average Samsung or HTC device, but the iPhone and any Windows Phone device outperform the best Android devices any day of the week.

I have had an iphone4 in the past and tried a Samsung Galaxy but found that the latter had a poor battery. So tried the Xperia.I cannot fault this one at all! It does everything android, has an amazing (Sont Bravia TV type) massive and clear screen. It doesn't focus on BRIGHT (as Samsung does) but rather on clarity, colors etc and HD videos are quite a vivid experience. The processor seems quick enough to me. It is solid (not something like a sheet of plastic), looks different from other phones around (Galaxy and HTC are slim). Camera is fine, no major comments as Im not into photography. Soundcard is amazing, Im enjoying music as if heard for the first time on this phone.Battery life here is great. It doesn't hang at any time for me. So basically kicks a**. I'd highly recommend this phone to anyone who is over or not interested in the Apple hype and wants a solid media friendly phone and likes the design.

This is definitely one of the best smartphone with the best quality-price market. There is no reason to hesitate to buy it, is very fast intuitive and beautiful, the screen resolution is incredible and the camera too good, the bad thing is that you can not remove the battery, and has no expansion slot for memory card but with 32 GB of internal memory so you want more? has nothing to envy sansumg eg nungun games run without problem and the android system is very, very easy to update. I recommend this phone to anyone who wanted a good smartphone .... another bad point is the battery life but also loads very fast.

This phone is amayzing!!! The size is perfect for the hand and the build quality is perfection. The interface is beautiful, way better than an iphone's interface. The phone is fast and with the best quality screen on market. For US buyers interested in this phone, the phone uses a mirco-sim, so any GSM carrier can give you service. This phone will not work with a CDMA service provider. With a 12.1MP camera your photos are the BEST, most phones only have a 8MP camera. Dont consider the CNET review too much, their review showed the phone as being mediocre, but the phone is sooo much better than what they show. Buy with confidence, Sony products are the best.

First of all it comes with Android ICS (4.0.4) out of the box. It makes easy to use and you'll find lots of apps for free.The display is amazing, colors are great, the video quality is excellent in HD and you can see it clearly even with sunlight over it.The battery works just fine, almost a couple of days with music, wi-fi and data traffic turned on (normal for a smartphone). Even though if you use it to browse a lot, you will shorten the battery level faster.Speaking of music, sound is awsome when you use headphones, it has equalizer, so you can fix the sound the way you like it.What else can I say? I really like this phone, was a very good purchase and is a very good option for those who want a smart phone with excellent performance for a reasonable price.

Hello people, I've never wrote a review before, but paying a good sum of money to have this mobile made me feel so bad, like i were scammed.Ok first the good thing:- The look-like no problem.- The sound (with heaphones) is excellent.Now the reason of my review:- The buttons design is broken, actually you have to press 2, 3, 4 times to make work the back, home and options button, because the little white dots are the only place where to have to touch to make this options work.- The back-light is horrible, i came from using a Galaxy S and Galaxy S2, the colors in the screen are more naturals, when i see the screen of this mobile, i can see always a shine that when you have to see a black color you see a dark light and see from another angles is completely ugly.- The headphones came with a glitch or bug, when you have the mobile on pause, and try to play your music after some minutes, the 1st touch on handsfree do nothing, the second one, play and pause the song the same time, and a THIRD touch play again the song, how can this be a good spec on a trademark like Sony.- Omg the battery... you need to charge the battery 2 times a day, even when you have deactivated wifi, comsumption sucks, and if you try to low bright of screen, what you have is a mess, you cant see nothing in that screen.Is the worst invest i did in many years.Sorry for my bad english but i just wanted to stat and prevent people of getting frustrated like me.Thanks and bye.

first of all it's a great product and worth the tile of a flagship of current Sony product line. The design is perfect, hardware quality is of high level. Over all it worth the price. I'll just mention some negative things about it:1. Battery life is probably the most obvious problem. Even compared with IPhone 4's short battery life, this Experia S has a even shorter battery life than expected. It can only last between 10-15 hours for normal use, therefore I have to charge it every night. although basically you have to charge every smart phone daily, you'll still encounter short battery problem if you happens to use the phone more frequently someday.2. the back cover cannot be tightly installed. This is not a big problem though, but it makes me feel the product not considerately designed.3. The high-contrast scree: this is just not that appeal to me since I'd prefer a natural screen color. this screen is just too colorful to be unreal.4. the operating system: some bugs, which I don't know if all Android devices have more bugs than IOS. Some bugs are just irritating and stupid, e.g., the power saving mode never correctly functioned on my device, or sometimes the system crashed when opening email, etc. Frankly speaking i don't think system update would resolve these problem. Also the Android system updates way to slow.

The Sony Xperia SL LT26II Unlocked Android Phone is a great phone! The model is great because of the many unique features! I enjoy this model because it has so much more than some of the other phones out on the market! There are trendy phones out there that cost so much money, that I think are overly priced. I think that this phone is reasonably priced and of great quality! I would 100% recommend this phone and any other phones like this particular one to anyone and everyone looking to buy a unique, interesting, and great quality phone!

I decided to let go and change my blackberry to android, after much searching a phone that met my expectations, and I did not want any Galaxy or Iphone, I came across this amazing Sony, at the beginning I had my doubts but I decided for the good comments and I have no regrets, I love it!, its size is perfect, I can hold it with one hand without fear of falls, a super-resolution screen, is fast to navigate, works with a microsim. The only bad and therefore do not give it 5 stars is because the battery life is very short and I charge every day, just use the basics, email, chat and some web queries, but otherwise super happy.

I love how this phone looks it's very unique and looks very elegant in silver color. Also I like the Sony android interface and apps, the CPU/GPU are powerful enough for smooth operation and playing all kinds of games. The 12MP camera takes great videos and still images, I also like the fast capture feature and the 3D panoramic pics. The HD screen looks awesome but I wish it was a little bigger.The only downside I felt was battery life wasn't very good, with heavy use it might not last a full day, but with regular use it lasts a full day with no problem.

El tel?fono definitivamente es potente; buen procesador, pantalla, camaras, memoria y lo mejor de todo un excelente precio.Solo algunos detalles a considerar:1.- El peso. Muy pesado. Pesa considerablemente mas que el Galaxy S3.2.- La sensibilidad de los botones de "Regresar", "Home" y "Men?". Es baja, no responde inmediatamente al toque, normalmente hay que estar tanteando hasta conseguir el punto.3.- La ubicaci?n del bot?n de desbloqueo. Hubiese sido mejor que estuviera en donde est? el bot?n de la c?mara y no arriba cerca del conector de auriculares, sobre todo por el tama?o del tel?fono.

Received it, put the sim card on it, and off I went.- Good: Snappy, comfortable and pretty, sharp image, an awesome camera. plenty of storage. screen is very easy to see under direct sunlight. sony modified UI is not much intrusive. unlockable bootloader (BIG plus). Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. When connected to almost any smart tv it can be controlled with the TV remote control.- Bad: battery life could be a lot better. has no smart tags on the box. buttons on the bottom are not so responsive right now, maybe when I take the screen protector off. no gorilla glass. sim card compartment makes it real hard to take out the sim (not as important if you don't ever do that). no Jelly bean yet. loudspeaker is on the back, if you put it on the table the sound gets almost muted. no wifi direct on current ICS.Overall, a very good purchase, I'm very happy with it, if I manage to make the battery last longer this will be just perfect.

I bought this phone the first day it came out from the AT&T store. They were out of the one I originally wanted and I let them talk me into the Sony. Huge mistake on my part. I hate my phone. It constantly locks up and you have to press the buttons several times before they respond. It wasn't too bad until the first update happened then all hell broke loose with it. Somehow it copied over my phone contact list with my email contact list. I copied my phone list back over it but it's just confused now. It won't let me answer phone calls from people on my favorites list...husband, mom and best friend. Try explaining that, lol! The text program doesn't work, I had to download a different app to be able to text. AT&T doesn't see any of this as anything wrong so I'm stuck with this piece of crap for awhile!

Very good smartphone, it has everything you will need. Android 4 is a very good feature comparing to Android 3. the camera is amazing, a little bit slow but great pictures. The screen is one of the best in market. I did not rate 5 because it has some problems with Bluetooth and battery in full mode is not enough. But very very recommended if you compared with an iPhone or galaxy for this price.
