It surprises me that this speaker carries the SONY logo on it. It is cheap, poorly made, and incredibly annoying. First of all, the battery life is not long if you have the it configured to sound decent. If you have it on 'stamina mode' it sounds weaker than the speaker in a child's doll, otherwise you will have this speaker screaming at you to charge it after only a few hours. That's the most annoying thing that I have ever dealt with in a Bluetooth speaker: you cannot turn off the voice that tells you "Bluetooth connected" or "low battery, please charge." This frustrates me to no end and has made me hate the speaker. Reason I say it is poorly made is not necessarily the speaker, but the app that they provide: "Music Center" is chalk full of grammatical errors and awkward statements, and is incredibly ineffective. It seems like the app was made by an underpaid worker who barely understands grammar. I'm very disappointed in this purchase, also, the price has been lowered significantly since I bought this a few months ago. In summation, this speaker has very underwhelming performance, is incredibly annoying due to the fact that it screams at you if the battery is low (which is all the time with this piece of crap) or if it decides to disconnect (which happens sometimes for no reason). Bye SONY.

Maybe I got a dud, but the sound quality on this is really bad. The volume sounds really muffled and my cheap bluetooth speaker I got a 4 years ago sound better than this. I was looking for an upgrade and figure the Sony brand and the size of the speaker will wow me, but my cheap no name speaker sounded better. It also don't have a lot of bass and I went with the Anker bluetooth speaker which sounded way better and have more bass than this. I even downloaded the app to adjust the sound but it didn't help. My advice, stay away from this speaker.

It's a stereo speaker that's portable enough to move from room to room and has plenty of power to fill most rooms with sound. Has excellent build quality and sound for the price and the likely use cases. I've always preferred the Sony Xtra Bass sounds compared to flatter profiles within the brand or of many other leading audio equipment brands. Aside from that preference, it's not realistic to expect any better for products that are similar in features and functionality. Only minor quibbles are that it does not have a mini audio in jack because sometimes you just want the convenience of plugging in a device, and the controls and led indicators are on the "back." neither of these are dealbreakers as everyone has started taking headphone jacks out of everything and the device is small enough to just pick up and turn around to reach the controls.

I absolutely love this! I recently have a hada Bose color sound link, and it was good quality, but over time, it would't hold a charge, and the charge chord had to be plugged in JUST RIGHT. And it was expensive, I think I paid something like $130. This one was on sale for $67! I started to shop around for another speaker, and saw this. The reviews were great (I read tons of reviews before I purchase anything!) This speaker was so easy to use, charged up right away and is still holding it's charge after 2 weeks! I play it in my bathroom daily! Also, the sound quality is awesome- as good as the Bose. I ablosutely love the color, and the size is not too big, not too small! Don't hesitate to purchase this!

The sound is fantastic - a little too much bass, but overall excellent, especially if you hang it high in the air. Battery capacity is still out in the jury but looking mediocre. So far, I have had the item for a couple of weeks and have had to recharge after every 2-3 hours of use. So far very pleased aside from the battery issue.

Worst buying experience I've ever had... I've been trying to turn it on after hours of trying to charge it. When I've got it plugged in, the charge light will go off after about a minute (this is suppose to indicate the battery is full), but when I unplug it and try to turn it on, nothing. Even plugged in, it'll turn on for a second, then the charge light will flash orange and it'll go off. Can't even give a review on the sound because I haven't heard what it sounds like, and I've been at this for hours. I should have gone with my gut and bought JBL, I won't make the mistake of buying a Sony BT speaker ever again, that's for sure... worse purchase I've ever made.

I love this speaker. The last speakers I had were all JBL. Was just about to purchase another and noticed that the XB23 was on sale and figured, why not as it worked out cheaper than the JBL equivalent. So far so good. It fills the room. The bass is great and really makes you feel like you could have a party. It connects very easily too. Can't speak on the battery life just yet as we're still in the first cycle. Almost tempted to by another.

I love this speaker! It's brilliant!
Easy and fast connectivity via bluetooth. Never had a problem.
This thing is LOUD! For a relatively small bluetooth speaker it kicks butt.
The battery is pretty good without being amazing but it recharges quite quickly.
Great weather resistance and really rugged in construction.

Nice and loud, well built but WHY would Sony take away the 3.5mm jack, if I had known there was none I wouldn't have purchased it, plus the battery life is lousy, to get long battery life you have to put it in Stamina mode, but then the music sounds flat because all the bass is gone

First purchased a high review 4.5 stars 30 dollars less than this SONY, Poor connectivity at pairing and when I walk 20 feet away in and out volume/sound.
Paid for the SONY a much higher quality, connectivity is way above the other speaker and when I walk away and turn a corner sound is clear and clean. SONY is quality.

This item is fantastic. I've been using it all the time. At work on my 10hr Amazon Delivery routes, at home when I do yoga and meditation, and the sound is superb just like boss product sound. I'm very pleased with it. Will buy another one for parties and surround bedroom sound for yoga. Highly recommended.

I have the wireless speaker in my garage gym and I love the it’s small and I can move it around the gym. I would say the Bluetooth connectivity is up about 99% of the time.

I do like that it has a button that “announces” how much approximate battery life is left.

This speaker is great! We bought it for our outdoor movie system and we're very happy with it. Next I tried it with our indoor music system. Loved it! Bonus...my husband (who has a hearing deficit) loves it for streaming tv so much that we bought a series 8 tv that can utilize this speaker for all programming.

Extra Bass? I was comparing something to the UE megaboom my friend had and this didn’t even come close. The sound quality wasn’t bad but my smaller tribit had better bass than this. I thought I had a winner with a Sony product, pretty disappointed.

AMAZING! Bought it to annoy my roommates and it definitely worked! The bass is amazing for such a small thing and the sound quality is awesome. I can only use it for maybe two hours before it does though, so a longer battery life would make it perfect!

It’s a little bigger than expected but not so troublesome to carry it as it’s said quite portable. It stands securely and with even small volume sound is heard loud enough in the small room, even living room it could be a TV speaker.

Me gustó mucho la calidad de sonido, utilizando LDAC se escucha genial, en cuanto a la duración de la bateria no se en qué condiciones duraría 12 horas, lo que es a mí no creo que me haya durado mas de 8 hrs, quizás tiene que ver con la calidad de audio que se utilice, a pesar de eso creo que es un muy buen producto y definitivamente lo compraría denuevo

I bought these speakers for the lake so that we wouldn’t have to drain the battery on the boat and they have not disappointed! I have to, so we can link them together by Bluetooth… Best portable speaker we have ever used! Truly waterproof and really great sound.

The bass is unlike anything I’ve ever heard in a portable Bluetooth speaker. I’ve been using Anker, the SRS-XB23 supersedes the quality of Anker. The sound is rich, deep and clear. Highly satisfied with this purchase. It is well worth the money. The only downside is the battery life is not as long as the previous speaker I’ve used.

The primary purpose of my purchase was to use this as a home office speakerphone which it did not serve. The product has a single microphone on the front and you'd have to speak in to the speaker (quite literally) to be audible to the other party. It especially gets very awkward in a video call when you'd have to constantly lean over to speak in to the speaker. Sound is generally okay otherwise (for its price).

Performs as expected. Good bass response for such a small unit but you must be relatively close to the unit to hear It well. Device made much better by downloading The Sony Music Center app to control EQ. Only downside is relatively short battery life depending on the volume set. Wish the battery life were a bit better. Overall happy with the performance.

Sturdy and Strong 20W speaker!

For long I was looking out for a good speaker to carry. I have always liked JBL but then JBL Flip is too mainstream and I wanted something classy and something that would stand out. I looked at SRS XB23 and i made up my mind to buy this one. After i bought this one, i looked for rivals and other features, I was convinced that I have made a good choice.

Pros:
- Build Quality is AWESOME, one holds it in hands and feels the strong plastics used, this one can sustain some abuse.
- Classy looks, I think all the colors are awesome in this minimalist design.
- Rubber grip given at the base, doesn't let the speaker skid while using.
- Can be used in vertical or Horizontal position, good part is, it aligns itself automatically in horizontal position.
- Has type C charger, faster charging and no need to carry extra charger cable for speaker.
- Waterproof, dust proof and shockproof, gives confidence to use it outdoors.
- Sony sound quality is always better than rivals.
- Adequate Bass for 20 W unit, certainly doesn't enhance bass though.
- Filling sound in medium sized room and excitingly pulpy outdoors. I have used it in mildly windy parts of Himalayas, works well.
- Charge lasts for 10-12 hours of normal usage (Incl calls).
- Connects to two devices at a time, thereby if one is using two devices, it automatically switches sound inputs. Small feature, very convenient!
- Good strap, useful and quality is really good.
- Has a mature and calm poise, a quality that makes it an able candidate to sit proudly in living room. It is a looker in its unique way.

Cons-
- It looks way too simple. In other words its not flashy or gaudy.
- Rubbery gimmicky material is missing that may appeal to adolescent public.
- Has a sound output of 20W and not more.
- Doesn't have AUX input.
- Product focuses on quality and is a little expensive.
- Cover is unavailable in the market custom made for this one yet.

Conclusion

I would strongly recommend this one, if portability, sturdiness and quality sound is what you are looking for in a wireless portable speaker.

Absolutely rugged piece from SONY Corp, I am extremely happy to own.

Best quality sound for the price

The sound clarity is just amazing on this speaker. 70% volume is enough to fill the room. The design built quality is so good that you confidently take it along wherever you go. This speaker is stylish comes with a blutooth 5.0 which ensures there is no lag unlike other speakers that sell for the same price and offer bluetooth 4.2 . Overall I am satisfied and highly recommend music lovers to get this.

Extremely Poor Sound Quality

Very upset with this purchase and did not expect such poor sound quality from Sony. I am using the JBL Flip 4 and instead of going for JBL Flip 5 I opter for the Sony -SRS-XB23. In the same price range the JBL is far far superior in sound and build quality.
Do not waste your money on this speaker. Poor Bass, Poor sound quality.
