Time to kick that old stereo system to the curb. This is exactly what I have been looking for - studio quality sound all controlled from my phone.
I was curious about whether I could really hear a difference, and I really can. It's like each voice track and instrument are being projected separately and with more clarity. Because of that you don't need as much volume.
Setup was simple. Plug in the device. Download the app and follow the directions. I had it working and connected to Spotify in 5 minutes. The tuning process is rather interesting, and supposedly calibrates the sound of your smart speaker perfectly for the room.
Gotta go. A good tune just came on...

So just bought sonos 5 . Sound quality is up there with the best . Only one problem they do not come with physical remote wifi only . So if your at cottage or somewhere you so not have or maybe even want internet you can plug music device directly but have to control volume , music etc . Bu constantly going over to where it is . Sadly i will be returning . Bose comes with a remote.

Sonos has a problem with the Play 5. The wireless cards quit. One day you'll likely find that the device has disappeared from your system. That's when the fun begins.
First you'll spend 30 minutes on hold trying to reach customer service. This will remind you of your dealings with credit card companies or online retailers. They don't seem to care and it shows;)
When you get a tech on the line they'll have you open a trouble shooting app and enter the devices info. Then they'll ask you to get the device and plug it into your router via cable. At this point they'll confirm that the unit has lost its wireless card. Then they'll have you start a second help ticket in their app, and enter your shipping and device registration again while promising to send an RMA and exchange the device.
Then after a couple days you'll get an email. Asking you to enter your shipping address and the units serial #, yet again. At this point I'm guessing that you won't have the serial # with you so you'll have to return to the failed device and get it, again...
Then after a day or two you'll yet another email asking if you would like to drop your failed unit off at UPS or print a label. At this point a week has gone by and you'll start to wonder which government program their customer service is modeled after. Finally after boxing it up, exchanging emails like pen pals and shipping it off, all you'll have to do is wait. A week or so later your replacement unit will arrive.
It's going to require that you to dedicate some time to the process and keep a sense of humor while repeating the same information over and over...;)

Use this as a central speaker for a 600ftsq living room. It's paired with 4 sonos play1's. Awesome sound. No distortion at full volume when I need the music to reach out into the garden. Definitely recommend this over two play3's (unless you need a stereo pair). Bass is just so much better on this.
The play5 also has a line in input which is great if you don't want to use the Sonos App.

Un gran producto, desde que llego el embalaje de gran calidad y dentro la caja de la bocina, misma que es de una gran calidad desde su exterior, me encanto el detalle de sus seguros al costado denotando lo premiun del equipo.
Ya abierta todo de maravilla, cuidaron hasta el más mínimo detalle. Pasamos a la instalación del equipo y ahí me tope con problemas técnicos de vinculación, claro por no leer bien al respecto sobre el como se hacia, después de checar la página en la sección de ayuda procedí como se indico y listo, funcion de primera.
Sonido de gran calidad, muy buena definición y gran potencia realmente recomendada.

This if my fifth component, maybe sixth. I love this system, how easy it is to expand when you want to or have the budget to, how great the sound is. SONOS ain't cheap (at least this speaker and the Play Bar are not cheap) but I find the quality very good. And I have called tech support a couple of times because I am not that good at anything technical, and the support was great too.

This is a different review I am sitting on my couch at 3:49 in the morning listen to Dire Straits Brothers in Arms album on my Sonos play 5 speaker phenomenal the definition and clarity is amazing I have recently purchased five of these for my whole house I can wake up in the morning and listen to music everywhere and control every room with the same music or different for each speaker very happy with the product a little expensive but well worth it hats off to Sonos

This seems to be a massive upgrade to the Gen 1 Play:5 (my very first Sonos). Since then, I've purchased Play:1, then sold that and picked up 2 Sonos Ones and stands for my kitchen soundtrack. I eventually decided to replace Play:5 (gen1) with new version thanks to a sale and am very satisfied with this upgrade.
It's very easy to pair it to a new network at someone else's home. Also, portable enough to swiftly take it outside during bbq sessions.

Adquirí esta bocina durante el hot sale a un excelente precio, pero una vez que me llegó y que la probé, no me convenció.
1.- Pensé que el sonido sería mejor y con mejores graves.
2.- Estéticamente no me gusto, aparte que no encajaba bien con la decoración de mi casa.
A los dos días de que me llegó decidí regresarla, por cierto muy buen servicio de devolución por parte del equipo de Amazon, lleve el paquete a paquetería y a día siguiente ya estaba en las oficinas y tres días más ya tenía el dinero en mi tarjeta, punto bueno para Amazon 👍.

Es una bocina cara, no hay duda, sin embargo eso para mi no es problema siempre que ese precio esté justificado, en este caso así es, suena MUY bien, excelente calidad de sonido, excelente potencia sin distorsión, el bajo muy bueno, materiales que se sienten muy bien, es pasadita y de buen tamaño, me agrada que se empareja con otras de la marca para tener sonido en varios cuartos de la casa, la verdad la recomiendo ampliamente, pienso comprar otra de estas y otra sonos one, así como el bajo.

We bought this in the hope of replacing our Bose Soundtouch 30 since Sonos had better integration with streaming services and a better app. We were very disappointed with the sound quality at high volume. Compared to the Bose, the Sonos lost alot of bass and started distorting way before the Bose did. The Bose also had a much higher upper volume with no distortion.
However, the Sonos did have an incredible sound at normal volume.
We decided to return the Sonos.

El sonido es bueno, tiene dos forma de escuchar horizonta y vertical, su sonido es diferente me gusta mas vertical el sonido es mas intenso, volumen al maximo se escucha bien sin distorsión
Le puse 4 estrellas por que creo que le falta fuerza al sonido, comparando con un sonos play 1, creo si compras dos sonos play 1 lo pones en stereo, se escuchará mejor que tener un solo Sonos Play 5.
Su aplicación es fácil de utilizar, con todas las opciones que tiene no es necesario el Bluetooth.
El servicio de ayuda Sonos bueno té apoyan en todo lo recomiendo.
Recomendación prueben primero Sonos play 1 antes Sonos play 5.

La calidad de sonido es el punto más fuerte de la Sonos Play 5. Para ser concreto, después de escuchar esta bocina, todas las demás (comerciales) te dejarán insatisfecho. Incluso audífonos (Audio Technica MX50) u otros equipos de Sonos (Beam y Play 1) no se comparan. Los bajos son de muy buena calidad, sin incomodar, y las voces destacan mucho. Puede llenar fácilmente una habitación grande, pero si la compran para una recámara, el volumen al 50% no llega a ser incómodo. La bocina hace streaming directamente desde la red sin pasar por el celular o laptop, por lo que, mientras haya buena señal, la calidad de la música siempre es impecable. También la uso directamente conectada a un tocadiscos y la calidad sigue siendo excelente. Si buscan un sonido de calidad, con buen volumen para escuchar solo o en una reunión, es la opción. Si buscan algo que haga retumbar los vidrios del edificio o como bocina de karoke, hay otras opciones.
En sentido de software, la primera vez que la instalé no tuve ningún problema. La he movido a diferentes habitaciones y, mientras esté conectada a la misma red wifi, no hay mayor complicación. Los problemas pueden venir al cambiar de red. Recientemente me mudé y fue complicado conectarla a una red nueva (+/- 30 min, culpa de la mala calidad de la red). Si no tienen buen wifi o una red privada, quizás sea mejor una bocina bluetooth. Por otro lado, una vez configurada, puede reproducir música mediante un cable 3.5mm sin estar todo el tiempo conectada al wifi (como para sacarla al jardín).
Finalmente, en cuestión de hardware, la bocina luce muy bien en cualquier lugar. Los materiales son de muy buena calidad, fáciles de limpiar y el diseño es discreto para encajar en cualquier ambiente o estilo de decoración. Casi no tiene luces, lo cual se agradece para que no llame la atención o deslumbre por la noche en una recámara.

I initially played Spotify through the Sonos app on my Samsung phone and was disappointed. Sharp sounding. The Sonos Play 5 equalizer is limited. Just bass and treble. So I closed Sonos app and went to the Spotify app. Then I linked to the Play 5, which Spotify finds and makes available. I had previously set the phone up with its internal Atmos/Music equalizer. Made a very big difference. Now very smooth sound. Quite happy.

Excelente sonido! Se escucha todo en su lugar, puedes distinguir cada sonido con absoluta nitidez, potencia ideal y cero distorsión. Adquirí la pareja para mejorar el sonido estéreo. Creo que el precio es un poco exagerado pero es el mejor sonido que he escuchado en productos similares.
No tiene bluetooth. Su entrada auxiliar de 3.5mm, solo funciona con Wifi, fácil de configurar.

I can't say enough good things about this. It was incredibly easy to setup. The sound is very good for its size and one cabinet. The controls on the speaker were intuitive. The Sonos app is excellent. The ability to quickly hook up to both my iTunes library and to Spotify was great and easy. The ease of everything involved with this really makes this a pleasure to use. I suppose the only thing you could quibble over is that the price is a bit steep especially in comparison to the other Sonos speakers.

Simplemente escepcional. El sonido es maravilloso, es increíble cómo aumentas el volumen y es como si la bocina te pidiera más y más . No distorsiona y la claridad en las voces e instrumentos es inigualable. Al principio tal vez batalles para encontrar las configuraciones ideales pero cuando lo hagas estarás maravillado. Si no tienes ninguna aplicación de paga de música en streaming para usar en tu sonos, un pequeño adaptador de Bluetooth de 290 pesos de venta aquí en Amazon, conectado al auxiliar, te permitirá escuchar tu música en streaming, esto para aquellos que comentan sobre esta pequeña situación. En general te digo que está bocina la disfrutaras en serio.

I started with two Play 1's and like them so much I bought this speaker for my family room. I love it. Good quality room filling sound. Has been working well within my growing Sonos system. I have added the Sonos Sub to my family room as well, so now the sound from the combination of the Play 5 and Sub is awesome. As with all Sonos products, you have to be willing to accept the huge price tag.

No funciona si no tienes acceso internet, lo cuál es un problema ya que utilizo servicios de streaming que permiten descargar para escuchar offline y la bocina no puede validar DRM de los archivos (buscar "DRM Sonos"). Básicamente reproducir musica desde Spotify, Amazon Music o Apple Music, etc.. no es posible por qué no trasmites desde tu celular, este utiliza tu cuenta para obtener la musica desde internet.
¿¿SOLUCIÓN?? Conectar un plug 3.5 a la bocina, y ajustar para que suene bien.

Con una sola bocina puedo tener la ambientación de toda una habitación y con una excelente calidad de sonido, me gusta su tamaño porque no estorba y con su equalizador se puede configurar los rangos de graves y agudos que a uno le gusta. Impresionante los woofers . Hay que seguir al pie de la letra las indicaciones para su instalación, no es muy intuitiva. Me gusta que tenga su conexión directa a la electricidad ya que no son equipos para andar llevando a todos lados, pesa mucho. Me hubiera gustado que tuviera la opción para conectarse también por bluetooth.

I really was disappointed with this product. Set up could not be done wireless but needed an Ethernet cable. When I started loading apps I discovered that if I wanted the Spotify app, I needed to pay for the premium edition. The basic edition would not work. I stopped right there. Why would Sonos not accept this app? Plan to go for another brand without the restrictions.

The bass is immensely underwhelming and a huge disappointment. My Audio Pro addon C10 and T10 both have exponentially better bass and overall sound quality for a fraction of the cost. I am now stuck buying more speakers and getting deeper than I wanted to into the Sonos eco system to achieve the sound I'm looking for if I'm even able to get there.... Wish me luck..

The speaker quality is amazing. The sound is crisp and clear.
The User experience on the sonos app sucks. It is buggy. It wont allow you to add multiple user accounts. There is no bluetooth or wireless connection, except through the dismal sonos app.

Remarkably clear sound. Mid range is quite clear and bass is clean (not thump-thump). I compared it head to head with my mid-range Polk Audio speakers and sub-woofer, and the Sonos 5 came in second, but that is not exactly a fair comparison.

Para mi estas bocinas cambiaron mi perspectiva sobre la música, realmente puedes disfrutar de ella, deja de escuchar música en tu celular o bocinas pequeñas portátiles, con estas bocinas le sacas brillo al sonido, escucharás cosas que no habías oído en las canciones, extremadamente satisfecho con ellas, compré dos y un sub, el sonido es muy bueno.

Es un gran equipo con un gran problema de conectividad. Es una odisea el poder tocar un playlist ya que frecuentemente marca error 701 y luego ya no puedes tocar nada!!!
Mi consejo es no compren esta bocina ya que se pueden sentir muy frustrados al no poder utilizarla como uno quiere!

Estoy satisfecho con mi compra, aunque he de decir que si extraño mas los tonos bajos. No se si sea por la calidad de internet de mi casa, pero con frecuencia la aplicación me dice que no está conectada a mi WikFi. Tengo contratado Izzi de 50 megas

Amazing speaker! We use it in the main floor of our home and it is clear and loud anywhere on the main floor. I find I even have it on if I’m upstairs as well and it just needs to be turned up a bit more. The app is amazingly easy to use and the additional Tunein option is fantastic. Well worth the price if you listen to a lot of music!

Gran sonido, fácil de configurar, bonita estética. Me cuesta adaptarme a la app de Spotify ya que es distinta a la q se maneja por Bluetooth. Me ha fallado ligeramente el wifi de mi casa y decidí comprar el boost esperando mejorar la señal porque me gusto mucho el desempeño de mi play5. Pienso seguir creciendo mi sistema comprando mas bocinas.

Play5s are by far the best speakers for home use in the market. The sound is just brilliant- the highs and lows- all quite distinct. The speakers themselves are quite loud and even a single speaker produces great sound filling even large rooms. You can’t go wrong with Sonos. but play 5 is a must have for all Sonos fans! Go for it

Una bocina muy buena con excelente potencia y sonido. Una lástima la conectividad pues no tiene Bluetooth y falla mucho con wifi para enlazarse a la app, tuve que devolverla pues por 10 mil pesos mexicanos no deberías estar batallando.

Materiales excelentes, sonido potente y definido, la aplicación es una basura, se traba, de repente no reconoce la bocina, tienes que moverte a donde esta la bocina para bajar el volumen o detener la reproducción. No tiene Bluetooth, no puedes escuchar otras cosas como YouTube, ni videos de Facebook, etc.

Dormido superior, fácil integración con Alexa. La tecnología de reproducción vía WIFI, supera por mucho al Bluetooth. La integración con dispositivos vía AirPlay, me sorprendió.

El sonido increible pero si tienes una Alexa y un subwoofer de Alexa no los vas a poder sincronizar, por ser diferentes marvas tienen que tocar por separado o comprar mas productos Alexa

This is a great sounding speaker. Setup was easy and I love it. It is a little pricey but sound quality is amazing. I would recommend this product .

Lo único que no me gusto de Sonos, es que esta hecho para integrarse mejor con ecosistemas de Apple, si eres usuario de Android en la mayoria de dispositivos, no tiene las mismas funcionalidades que en iOS.
