Великолепно
No problems as of yet.Nice and quiet and lots of storage.Price was better than anywhere I could find.Would highly recommend.

As I was looking for another drive like this one I saw that Amazon had the lowest price, so I came for a look. I couldn't believe that others had rated it with one star. I bought the retail version of this HD from newegg about 3 months ago for $90 so I was hoping to find it for ~$80 now. I'm running xp pro sp2 on a pata drive and installed this drive for storing data. It has worked flawlessly and is very quiet. Without using any utilities that came with the drive I installed it and used xp to format it in ntfs. I assigned it the drive letter g: and she has never given me any woes. That is why I'm looking for another one to maybe use in a raid configuration.

I just got this drive @ Fry's today and it really has issues. I have Seagate 300GB SATA right now and I bought this 400GB as replacement. Running Vista Ultimate w/ all updates, it can't be detected. I uninstalled 300GB drive and fresh installed OS on 400GB drive and it worked (took a while though. I tried seagate disk wizard to clone 300GB to 400 GB drive and errors....can't read data on disk 2(SG 400GB SATA). Physically, the st3400633as(400GB) is scorching hot compared to the Seagate 300GB SATA I am replacing. I thought maybe I got a defective unit that's why I'm on this site now, to check for other user's expirience. And found someone w/ same expirience. I'm returning it.

So I get it... hardware is a tough issue. But after scouring the Seagate website and all the fluff... there was NOTHING that indicated they've seen my problem which is that the BIOS recognizes the drive correctly but Windoze XP can't see it. I installed a fresh version of Windows on an IDE drive just so I could get a UI but Windows isn't interested in the drive one bit. All the diagnostics just completely ignore the fact that the drive is there. Next time, it won't be Seagate.
