Ужасно
Based on glowing reports of Seagate hard drives, I have purchased several over the past few years. The first two (80 Gb hard drives) I bought were DOA right out of the box but I returned them to Seagate for replacements (after about six weeks and several calls to complain they admitted they didn't have any replacements handy and sent two 160 Gb hard drives as replacements) and had no further trouble with them. Unfortunately, a nearby lightening strike took out my computer last summer and I've struggled to get it rebuilt since.Again I purchased two brand new Seagate 120 Gb hard drives and, again, they both failed right out of the box. I received RMAs for the drives and sent them off to Seagate in early March. I called them in early May to find out why I hadn't heard back from them. They told me, and their website confirmed, they had not yet received the hard drives. However, I directed them to the UPS website which confirmed their receipt of the hard drives in early March. They apologized for the inconvenience and sent out replacement (refurbished) hard drives, one of which was a 120 Gb and the other a 250 Gb hard drive. I called them to complain that, since I plan to set the computer up in a RAID array, I really would have preferred matching hard drives so they said they would send out a 120 Gb replacement for the 250 Gb hard drive (I even gave them my credit card information to insure they could charge me if I failed to return the 250 Gb hard drive).A week later I called to find out where my replacement hard drive was (the only confirmation I got was an email for the RMA of the 250 Gb). As is the usual procedure, I get routed to a tech who cannot speak proper English and, after repeating my request about thirteen times, she tells me she will have "Sam" try to call me within a few hours.Obviously, I have several complaints. First, I'm thoroughly disgusted with the quality of products that consistently fail right out of the box. Second, I'm sooo tired of trying to communicate with people (in India?) who cannot speak or understand English very well. I'm tired of the bureacracy and mismanagement. I'm upset because I have to pay to ship defective parts back to the manufacturer, again and again. I'm frustrated that I have to accept "refurbished" parts when I paid good money for NEW. And I'm sick of not being able to rebuild my computer because of shoddy parts and terrible service.Needless to say, I will never, and I mean NEVER, EVER buy another Seagate product. In fact, if someone were to give me one now I would probably toss it straight in the trash bin and not even bother with it. They are simply not worth the hassle. You may have better luck than I've had with their product and service; if so, I'm happy for you. However, I assure you that if you do have a problem it will turn into a nightmare and I strongly suggest you pass these hard drives up for others that will likely be less problematic, like Western Digitals maybe. If I had known then what I know now I would have bought the Raptors instead.

I bought the predecessor to this (7200.7 120GB versus 7200.10 120GB) a few years ago and it ran great, eventually included it in a 3-disk RAID array (the other two were exactly this model). The original one eventually failed, and I RMAd it to Seagate and received a 200-something GB disk (another 7200.7) in return. When I called to explain that I needed another 120GB drive so it would be symmetrical with the other disks in the RAID, they told me that they didn't have the 7200.7 @ 120GB any more at all .... But far from being left in the cold, they not only mailed me a 7200.10 (an upgrade in performance and reliability) but offered to upgrade ALL of the drives in the array to 7200.10s for FREE. I wasn't able to take them up on this, already having 2/3 7200.10s of course .. but the offer really impressed me. AND they cross-shipped for me!I was not RMAing this as a business, but as an individual--- knock-out customer service there. I now own 8 seagate drives, the oldest of which is 4 years, and have only had the one fail... that's also the only one that got noisy, and I have zero other complaints. If they keep producing like this I'll probably never buy another brand.

This drive works fine. However, when trying to install it as a second drive into a Mac G4 desktop it has 2 problems.1) the cable provided does NOT work due to the fact that the plug that would have to connect to the Seagate as a second drive is on the WRONG SIDE OF THE RIBBON CABLE. Fortunately the ribbon cable supplied by Apple with the computer has a plug already available to plug into a second drive if you choose to use it. Please note that despite multiple calls and e-mails to Seagate asking them to supply the correct cable, they absolutely refused to do so.2) The screws supplied to secure the Seagate drive into the sheet metal frame that holds the drives are about one-third the length they need to be and are totally useless in screwing the drive to the frame. You will have to go to a hardware store and try to buy the correct length screws when you mount the drive. Again, Seagate refused to send the correct length screws. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MOUNT THE DRIVE IN A G4 WITH THE SCREWS SUPPLIED BY SEAGATE.ALSO, ABOUT 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS DRIVE ON AMAZON FOR $169, I SAW IT AT BEST BUY FOR $129!!! So check Best Buy before you purchase any drive through Amazon in the future.

I also installed this unit as a second drive into a Mac G4 and had no problems. Well, I take that back. I had some trouble trying to release the ribbon cable clamp (Novice). After I figured that, it was easy going. Oh it also helps to use the Power Mac G4 Setup Guide that came along with the computer. Under "Installing Internal Storage Devices" is written, "Important: Use the original Apple cables that came with your Macintosh when you install additional ATA drives. Some non-Apple cables may not correctly support cable select mode". And the screws were long enough.Formatting the new drive for Mac OS took some time (40 min.). But the computer did all the work using a current Macintosh drive setup utility. The drive is up and running and it only took one and a half hours. That includes reopening the computer to secure the cable clamp. I forgot.

Product was as described and shipped ultra fast. Upgraded from 40GB Internal to this. However it is a little on the loud side.

This is the first review of a product that I have bothered to take the time to write. I am extremely impressed with this product! It was fairly well documented but what floored me was the wizard that actually copied all of the files from the existing boot drive over to the Seagate. After a quick cable switch it booted right up. Being a tech support person by trade, I expected the worst and was preparing for a day full of "putting humpty back together again" but it was beautiful! And it runs fast and quiet. Thanks Seagate!
