Me gusta que trabaja muy bien el Windows, y LINUX, sin embargo algo que no me gusta es que en sus especificaciones no mencionan su compatibilidad con LINUX, y decidí comprarlo (a ciegas prácticamente), lo que hay que cacer es formatearlo en NTSF O FAT32 Y LISTO. Creo que merecemos atención los usuarios que utilizamos otro sistema operativo que no sea el windows o el de la manzana mordida, finalmente lo que debe interesar es vender calidad y documentar su compatibilidad de sus productos para todo tipo de usuarios

No compatible en modo encriptado para Mac
Lo adquirí con la intención de utilizarlo en modo encriptado en mi MacBook Pro desafortunadamente no se pudo y samsung no responde para solucionar el problema aunque ahí dice q se puede utilizar en Mac.
Por el precio , Lo estoy subutilizando como cualquier otra memoria externa

Una verdadera maravilla, para transportar datos de forma fiable y cómoda.
¡Es mi segunda compra, la versión anterior era un poco menos veloz y solo tenia puertos usb 3.0, ahora este disco tiene la opción de USB-C genial!

Muy buen producto
Lo compre para instalar linux de forma externa a mi MacBook Air. Su velocidad es increíble. Recomiendo protegerlo con algún tipo de funda, es tan pequeño que se resbala fácil. En mi caso recicle una funda de gafas que recorte a la medida del disco y quedo muy bien; sin embargo, amazon basics cuenta con una funda muy bonita y a muy buen precio por si se animan. :)

Es pequeña y fácil de transportar, una ventaja es que el producto trae 2 cables uno con entrada USB 2.1 ( la rectangular que todos conocemos ) y otra USB tipo C. Esto me permite usarla tanto en mi MacBook como en mi Pc.

I'm not kidding...I'd cloned my daughters 2017 MacBook Pro (MBP) in about 35 seconds...then when I migrated her to a new 2018 MBP from this X5...it was 34 seconds and it was fully configured. UN-STINKING BELIEVABLE!!!
If you need the ultimate in speed, and if you have the money...look no further. I'd actually ordered the OWC version before this X5....and the the OWC comes with a cable that is permanently attached...and it was VERY "touchy" (it would disconnect if bumped). Where this Samsung comes with a nice quality ThunderBolt 3 cable...ready to rock.

I am getting WAY WAY lower transfer speeds than what Samsung claims!!!!! Especially for the write speed, it is totally NOT acceptable for the price I paid ($900)!!!!
I was expecting a write speed of at least 2100MB/s but I am getting a maximum of only 523MB/s .... That is extremely bad!!! And I was expecting not less than 2600MB/s for read speed but I am getting a maximum of 2315MB/s which is not great but barely acceptable. I also noticed that the drive gets very hot!
Save your money .. I do not recommend this external TB3 SSD. A much better alternative which is way faster and way cheaper is to buy Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD with M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure.
My computer is a high-end HP Zbook Studio G5 portable workstation.

Will store on this device recently taken phots to be edited with Lightroom. Connected to a MacBook Pro 2016, the experience is remarkably upgraded vs the Samsung T5 2TB external SSD drive. Impact on how photos are rendered on the screen is measurable vs a 200MBps external SATA drive, proving the storage solution was the bottleneck in my previous configuration. TBD what could happen with a faster graphic card. The device looks nice, compact and doesn't seem to heat despite extensive usage.

Rocketship performance to match the rocketship looks! It feels great to hold in your hand. Interesting that they went through the effort since you almost never hold it. It's not a phone! But I guess they wanted to help justify the premium price.
No issues with MBP 2018 or mac mini 2018.
The drive comes formatted in a way that is hard to use on a Mac. You have to use the command line to put a GPT partition table on it. After that you can use the Disk Utility GUI like normal. I just ignored the software that come on the drive, presumably this is the password protection. On a Mac it's just better to reformat as APFS-encrypted and you get the benefits of the APFS filesystem which is designed for SSD.
The recommended case for it is very nice, and very protective, but quite bulky. It's like a hard eyeglass/sunglass case. I am now just using a soft sunglass sleeve for it, I have plenty of them. Really it could just be bare, but it will be nice to protect it from scratches. Photo shows the fit in the soft case, there is room to spare for the cable.

It's fast. I should've stuck to the Samsung T5 drives. This is very fast, Thunderbolt3 speeds, but tap the cable in any minute fashion, just a microscopic bit, touch the table, touch the drive-ANYTHING, and it disconnects. Also, 7 out of 10 times Macbook, Macpro, iMac pro takes a few connects and disconnects to recognize it.
This feedback is for Samsung, best to save your cash and get the T5 drives which are rock solid SSDs. Sure slightly slower, but they get the job done.

I rarely write reviews, but I had to after using this product. I teach full-time online and I use Final Cut Pro X a lot. I usually use Lacie drives and I kid you not, this Samsung drive is literally more than 100 times faster than the highest end Lacie drives. I have bought great processors, graphic cards, ram, desktops and laptops in the past in order to get the best possible performance....nothing compares to the performance improvement I got from this drive. This Samsung drive has had a MATERIAL impact on the speed of my video editing. For example, I used to have to wait all day for a 10 camera shot, 150 file 3 hour video shoot to synchronize in Final Cut Pro X. The Samsung drive did the same job in 5 minutes!!!! I was so blown away that I had to write this review (I rarely write reviews). Yes it is expensive, but it is a massive time saver and definitely worth every penny. Make sure that if you are using a Mac with Thunderbolt 3 that you open the Disc Utility and right click on the drive when you connect it for the first time, then select erase drive and format it with GUID and in the Apple File System format (also called APFS).

This SSD drive worked fine in the beginning. But after around 3 months the writing speed is very low (less then X5).

Wow, I received this last night. I plugged it in and it copied several hundred gigabytes from the internal drive on my macbook pro tothe X5 in a couple of minutes. Black magic speed test showed that its speed was on par with the internal 1TB ssd disc in my 2018 macbook pro. Now I have an extra couple of TB of high speed data access. All my other external drives (not ssd, but USB 3.?--USB A or C) and NAS seem to have read/write speeds around 100 MB/sec read and write. This disc is ~2,000 write and 2,600 read. My internal drive is 2,100 and 2,700.
One note, the software that came with is not compatible with macOS Catalina, so it would not install. That means I can't password protect with their software. That doesn't bother me, but might be important to some users. I suspect they will update the software to gain compatibility.
I was hesitant to buy because of the price, but am so happy I did.

NOTE: On my iMac Pro, if I don't format the drive as APFS, it gets "ok" speed. But when I format it to Apple's native file system, this thing screams. I'm not sure what the ideal disk format would be on Win10, but I would experiment because it DEFINITELY matters.
Great external drive. I paid the premium to get the best. Well worth if you use Lightroom/PS and/or Logic Pro X.

I play Flight Simulator and wanted all of the United States maps. It took a full 2 TB or the same amount of space in my PC. Once I moved these maps to the external SSD my game runs much smoother.

This has been an excellent product for me so far. I’ve been living with it for 3 months so I can’t say from experience what the lifespan will be but I am very happy. We’ll all have different use cases but for me, I am using the device to store sample libraries from which I am running virtual instruments in a DAW on my iMac (mainly NKS instruments within Logic Pro X). The best thing I can say about it is that I forget it’s there. It’s super fast. I am streaming several instruments in a given session without issues and it’s obviously completely silent. I’ve plugged it in and forgotten all about it. It’s a bit on the expensive side and given I don’t use it as a portable device, I did think twice before buying. I wanted very fast and very quiet. It’s both of those things and I’d happily recommend it.

Small form factor (pocketable), 2TB storage, fast SSD internals, fast Thunderbolt 3 interface, excellent build quality. The racecar-inspired design is a matter of taste, but this thing IS fast. Excellent product.

Got this drive for my 16" MacBook Pro and it is great and incredibly fast. Speeds are on par with the internal SSD. My only complaint is that it will only work with Thunderbolt 3. I had hoped to use it as a drive to take between home and work. No Thunderbolt 3 at work. A USB-C port is not enough, you computer must support Thunderbolt 3.

Damaged on arrival. Was shipped in a flimsy, plastic Amazon Prime envelope (who ships a $700 hard drive in a flimsy envelope?!) Purchased as new, but it actually looks like someone resealed the box, so it's possible it was a return to begin with. Pretty agitating when the hard drive was ordered for a big video editing project that we're currently in the middle of. Very frustrating.

I was hesitant to buy this because of the cost, but it is great. I have installed macOS Mojave on this drive and boot from it. Note that you must have Thunderbolt 3 to use this drive.

Very fast storage device, good from that point of view. But 1 week after it had been in use I got an error message saying the device needed a 'scan'. Following that all data was gone! So reliability is very much in question.
