Big problem with text messages

Here's the main problem with this Galaxy J7 -- You won't be able to get images or multimedia in your text messages. That's a huge problem the J7 has and makes the phone useless to me since I text more than anything else. Samsung is aware of the problem, but has still not released something that will fix it. Considering how much people text, this is a big negative for the J7.

Solid alternative to the Galaxy S6

Full disclosure, I'm a fan of Samsung phones. With that being said, I have had problems with previous models: Galaxy S5 Active not being as "rugged" as advertised and the poor battery life of the Galaxy S6 leaving you to make strategic power saving decisions later in the day.

That in mind, the Galaxy J7 greatly exceeded my expectations while being a fraction of the price as the more mainstream models.

The phone is slightly larger than a Galaxy S6 and considerably smaller than the Galaxy Note which is nice if you want a larger screen without all the bulk. I like the larger screen because my fat thumbs constantly hit the wrong keys on smaller screens. The screen quality is just as good as the Galaxy S6 if not better. I would recommend getting a phone case with a kickstand so you watch your Netflix and youtube videos without having to hold it.

My model did come with dual sim card ports which will be nice for travelling abroad, but I have read that only certain models have the dual ports so make sure you compare model numbers to get what you want.

My only complaint is that it isn't 4G/4G LTE compatible with AT&T (or at least not where I'm located in the Pacific NW). I've heard of others accessing 4G networks but it doesn't work for me. But the H+ network (seems to be slightly faster/same speed as 3G) works great for most of my needs.

Best of all is the long battery life. With light to medium use it will easily last 1.5-2 days no problem.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to people looking for a solid alternative to the Galaxy S6.

I like it, works well for me

I am using this with tracfone so I turned off the data unless I would really need it. I like the phone, the battery lasts for almost a week on standby. The touch is responsive, wifi works great, calls are clear. It is kind of large but that isn't the phones fault, it is just how these are made. I have not had any heat issues with it but I don't play game either. I mainly got this to use as a phone and to replace an ipod that died. I would love to have the unlimited data but just can't afford the monthly bills so this is fine for me since many have said that the data is not 4g or fast with this phone.. The one thing I don't like about android is with the latest OS it doesn't allow you to use the sd card for anything other than pictures and songs, it seems all apps have to go onto the internal and 16 GB will fill rather quickly. The phone is working well for me and I purchased a warranty from square trade. I chatted with them to get the correct warranty for this device.

Perfect

I had only $300 left and I need a phone to be safe while in school so I took the leap of faith and bought this phone for $219. With Amazon Prime, it came in two days and in perfect shape. I don't regret my purchase and I am glad I made it. There's nothing really negative I can say about this phone because everything is perfect. It even gives you the option to upgrade to Marshmallow.

The battery life lasts all day. I charged my phone at 8am and it is 8:20pm right now and I still have 46% left. The video quality is the best I've ever seen coming from a not so great Galaxy Core Prime c:

The camera is perfect just in low light it is kinda noisy and the colours are a slightly more saturated than they look in real life.

The phone is easy to work and you get a loottt of space and the gold colour is beautiful. When you run your fingers over thebscreen it feels smoth like butter. There's no lags or glitches. It takes a while to fully charge though. The only thing I can say that isn't a pro to this phone is the autofocus. The autofocus drives you insane.

Buy this phone you wont regret it ^•^
STOP PROCRASTINATING AND SECOND GUESSING!!! GET IT FELLOW COSTUMER!! HURRY BEFORE THEY'RE OUT OF THE PRICE GOES UP.

I should have stayed local.

I was finally ready to join the 21st century communications community. My ancient Samsung SGH-A737 had served me well, but having purchased it in 2007 it was showing it's age (I had wrapped clear packing tape around the case in order to hold the plastic parts together!). It took me several days to choose my new phone. I stayed faithful to Samsung since the little A737 worked so well. This Galaxy J7 is a nice looking phone with a lot of features to make modern life easy and interesting. What is my top complaint is not being able to activate the phone so that I could make and receive calls. The phone arrived in good time. When I unwrapped it I noticed the security label had been cut cleanly. I immediately became suspicious and notified the seller whom assured me it was standard procedure and required by law to inspect all phone boxes that are imported to the US. Made sense to me! I installed the micro-sim card from my service provider (AT+T) , but still the phone wouldn't activate. After many hours repeating answers to inane and irrelevant questions it became clear this phone was not going to function properly. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but if I had to guess the reason for the problem it would be that it was an import and not manufactured to a quality standard. I also pressed the support rep for his assumption and the words "wiped" and "blackmarket" were mentioned! Not the words you want associated with a new phone. I'm headed to the local mall. I found the same phone for about $20 more. The store said I could be placing calls immediately and today. If I didn't laugh I'd cry!

All I needed, for a great price.

I'm in love with Samsung. I owed the S3 for a few years and upgraded to the S5. When I wanted to travel to Europe this year, I wanted to keep in touch with family back home. That required an unlocked, international phone. I saw this and for the price, I thought I would give it a shot.

I took this to Spain last week and I must say that it works like a champ. I bought a 20 Euro data sim card at the vodafone store. I was able to facebook, upload pics, and use the gps all week long. I had no surprises, outages, or overages.

I love the battery life and I love the display. This also doesn't have as much bloatware as the phones you get from the cell phone companies.

Oh, I did buy a 128 GB memory card as well. That was my only addition to this phone.

This phone and me, we are going to see the world together.

Great phone!

After mamy long hours searching for a good replacement for my S7 I decided to go with this phone. I had already saw it in person as my kids have this phone. I was a bit leary purchasing an unlocked phone as i have never purchased one before. I had always bought carroer specific ones. This phone came with the phone, charger cable, headphones, and some kind of international wall plug. I'm in the us so need for it but it didn't bother me much as i had extra chargers. This takes the mini sim i believe not the micro. Thankfully i hadn't thrown away the Other bits to it or i would have needed a new sim. I am currently using this with T-Mobile prepaid service. I have not had an issue and a very happy with my purchse.

I ordered my Samsung galaxy j7 on Tuesday 24th and I received it on Friday 27th. very nice phone . so happy and impressed. exactly as describe. I love it. I was worry about the battery. but I was wrong. it charges very fast and lasts a long time. everything works fine. you will be impressed believe me. and the price is affordable. just be aware, only a micro sim card works with this device. I have a T-Mobile sim card. but I just cut it to fit. and it works like a miracle.
the device is above my expectation. and It s almost free.

Unlocked International Version

I love everything about this phone. I purchased this to replace my Samsung S3 after I dropped it. The S3 is the size of the display screen on the J7 so I'm still adjusting to the larger size phone. The phone I received is exactly as described - dual SIM slots and a memory card slot. I purchased this in gold and the color is exactly as shown on Amazon. The phone is unlocked and works perfectly in the Bahamas and I had no issues setting it up. I received a brand new phone in a sealed box 2 days after ordering it on Prime. The seller also sent an email offering any support that may be needed. I would definitely recommend this phone.

NOT a true front face flash ...

I have owned this phone for a few weeks now. I bought it solely based on the LED flash for front face camera. The phone is nice but I am disappointed with the front face flash. It is not a "FLASH" like the rear face camera. To me, a flash means a light flashes when a picture is taken. The front face camera does NOT flash. What it does is turn a light on in the camera (like the flashlight). The light stays on during the picture. If it is dark it might help with some lighting but the quality of the picture is grainy looking. I guess I am still on the hunt for a cell phone with a true flash for front face pictures. It should flash like a camera flash NOT just turn on the flashlight. The phone is nice, overall, though.

Not bad for the price.

Well. The phone came with an international plug for the wall charger with a sticker on the box saying if I need a different wall charger to contact the seller. The calendar app that comes with the phone starts on Monday instead of Sunday. That throws off the week for me. Great phone great price. It's the same as the note 5 but the camera isn't as good and it dosent have note part. Highly recommend this phone for the price.

This is PERFECT for her

Bought this phone for my 84 y/o mother. This is PERFECT for her. I'm sure a more techy person would have some issues with it but really it is a great phone. Had it for about 3 months so can't speak yet to the longevity but for the price it's great. Wanted a smart phone for her but didn't want to pay $900 and this fits the bill. It's just as easy to use as better smart phones and we've had no battery or charging issues. Very happy with the purchase. This phone allows her to have apps that she needs with no confusion. Not much memory, but not an issue for her.

Good phone with superb features !

Purchased this unlocked International phone as I live in the Caribbean and needed a phone that was compatible with Digicel. It arrived quickly, well packaged - with adequate instruction manual (kudos to the seller).The phone is user friendly, my 13 year old daughter began instructing me very sternly on how to use it . This is my first smart-phone and I visited Busch Gardens and Sea World with my daughters. I was amazed at the clear crisp photos and videos it was able to take. The phone itself feels substantial in my hands and it is not easy to slip out if you hold it carefully. Have used it for a few months with no issues.

Good phone, wish i had a chager base

It's a great phone. Had it for a while (roughly 2 weeks). I' m glad I bought this phone and it it compatible with T-Mobile service. The speed is great and the camera is great quality. Only com is I keep getting the google play store is unresponsive error message and it gets annoying and the charger is meant for a European outlet so it kind of sucks if you don't have an adapter and chargers slower on other chargers.

Wow! Great phone at a great price. Still amazed by all it provides. Amazing how so much technology has come together to give such a great package. I'm not used to this size phone; it's a bit huge for my hand. I'm accustomed to smaller phones. Anyway, I've found a way to carry it around! But hey, bigger is better now. I can see stuff much clearer without having to use my glasses ALL the time! That's a plus! Best phone I've had ever!! Oh, and delivery service from this supplier is top of the line. Thumbs up!!

The best things is that this phone has a removable battery, so that when the battery starts to not hold a charge, all I have to do is order another battery. Buying Unlock Smartphones with removable battery is the wave of the future of the smart consumer. I urge others to free themselves as well.

Price was perfect, exactly as advertised and works on my cell carrier...(make sure to check before purchase). Delivery was prompt. The charger was a European one that came with a USA converter which did not work. That was not a big deal but have one ready so you can charge it when you get it. Super long battery life whether talking, using app, or WIFI. This phone is a bit big for my small hands and am adjusting to its size. Still, I highly recommend this phone and would purchase it again.

The phone arrived on time and is the exact thing i purchased. Just started using the phone and so far i am happy with my purchase. everything came was brand new and the box was sealed. I even got a wall adapter for the charger. There was also a 1 year warranty card attached to my purchase. I have ordered phones through amazon before and i have never had and issue.

Camera is average, as you'd expect, but signal, battery life, and performance are all extremely good.

We've had two of these (one broke flying out of a go cart on to concrete), slightly different models, T-Mobile. Very difficult to beat the quality for the price. Camera is average, as you'd expect, but signal, battery life, and performance are all extremely good. Signal rating is based on comparisons to other phones we've had at the same time in the same places. It just gets a better signal in more places.

great buy

Got this the very next day with prime. My tmobile sim card from the other phone fit fine (they have a spot for the micro sim caard too) Was tricky figuring out how to turn my location on but i figured that out shortly with a look at the settings because just simple pressing the bottom was not working. Turned on fine did have to be charged and I was texting going on the internet and making phone calls within minutes.

I had a phone that was usefull but, only for making calls. Other stuff not so good, so getting this phone was the best idea i had. Not only is good looking but, supports marshmellow update.

Since i got the phone it has been smooth with messages and other important stuff. If you are looking for a phone that is not high price but, has good software and hardware this is one of your options!!!

Great phone. This phone has 2 SIM card slots. You may have to try one or the other to work in the USA. On ours, the SIM needed to be in slot 2 for the data to work properly. If you phone has issues with data, switch the SIM card around.

Great.. until I dropped it in a lake.. 15 feet deep.. never found it..

Great phone! The camera is great, and the earphones that come with allow people you call to hear all the background noises, like your siblings screaming or a glass getting dropped. The phone would sometimes go black or just show the background screen for a little bit, but other than that the phone is great!

The DUOS (Dual Sim) function is also super handy as a big traveler

2nd one of these I have bought. I had a Galaxy S6 before this which was expensive and I lost it! Decided on this because it was far cheaper than the S series. The reality is that although the price is significantly different, the performance between this and the S series is not much different. It does all the things you need. The DUOS (Dual Sim) function is also super handy as a big traveler. Go for it.

The phone works well, it came completely unlocked (unlike the blu I had purchased before) and has given me no issues. My only fault with the phone, which is a major fault, is that the camera quality is poor at nights. Other than that the phone works great.

Fine, but dissapointing

The phone seems to work okay after one day but I am returning it. I had a Samsung Galaxy J7 that I was replacing and this one doesn't look the same, much cheaper looking. It's lighter plastic instead of metal, the camera and flash are NOT the same quality as my last one. Even the Samsung logo is printed on and not etched into the metal like my last one. I do not believe this is a Genuine Samsung.

Did not look as a new phone

Great phone, but did not look as a new one. Is like an India-origin phone, which did not start as a new phone when turning it on (usually new phones start with a set-up mode which leads you to the first use), it just started as an used phone.
The labels and stickers were also not like the standard new phone (with Samsung logos and so...). So far, has worked fine

Missing a Few Key Features

I was really excited to finally receive this phone (unlocked for T-Mobile usage); however, there are key features missing. This phone does not have 4G/LTE capability and lacked a WiFi Calling option. The 3G connection is fine, but these two features are non-negotiable in my life. The size is fine, the camera is great and takes quality images with a fairly impressive shutter speed. Sadly, this phone will go back.
