To sum up, I am lucky I didn't pay for this as I've been asked to review a free product, but if I had I would be ringing up the manufacturer with a huge complaint. I can only advise people NOT TO BUY under any circumstances.
First impressions of the product, unused: I was intimidated.
You've got seven different head attachments to the epilator, along with a small cleaning brush, a bag to store it all in, the product itself and a charger; you've also got instructions on how to use each head, when best to use them, and just general information on how the epilator works and what you can expect from it. I was grateful for that as I needed all the preparation I could get before using this epilator for the very first time, but still... It was a lot to take in, hence me feeling intimidated.
First impression of the product, used: ...ouch.
My body hair was literally being plucked hair by hair from my body, and it felt like I was getting stabbed a thousand times overs - THAT was how painful it was. But it has to be said that after a while, you kind of get used to that sensation, and the product is honestly AMAZING and SO EASY to use. My body hair grows quite quickly, so I am usually very dependent on waxing (which is annoying since I'd have to wait for my body hair to then grow again just to wax it all off again), but with this epilator, it's simple: body hair growing? Just whip the epilator out, turn it on, use it, and you're done. It's not like shaving where it just cuts the hair down temporarily for a day. It's exactly like waxing: it pulls the hair out from the root and leaves your body feeling smooth to the touch for weeks (though don't use it and go out immediately as there will be redness afterwards, as is to be expected).
It's not battery operated, and is chargeable so you don't have to have a cord attached and plugged in to a socket whilst using it (which my mother was impressed by as her epilator needs a cord attached to use). The light at the front of the product is bright, so you can see clearly each hair that is about to be plucked from your body. PLEASE BE AWARE THOUGH: that you *must* use this epilator gently. I had quite a firm hand when I first used it, and the product... well... it kind of stalled whenever I put too much pressure on it against my legs. But that was by my own hand and was MY OWN fault, but it's still something I feel like you need to be aware of as, you never know, it could be damaging to the product.
It's got two different speeds which're useful when it comes to what type of hair you're getting rid of. I used the fast speed for thicker hair, and the slower speed for lesser/thinner hair that just needed to be gone quick. I do find that the switch itself to turn the epilator on and off (and to change the speeds of it) is quite stiff for me, and that it's a little difficult and awkward to clean the product itself with the small double ended brush that is included (as I'm not sure if I am cleaning it properly and getting all the hairs out). But those are just my own opinions, and the only flaws I found in this product.
All in all though, it is amazing and definitely does its job of leaving you hairless for up to three weeks (as that's when I last used it, and the hair is still gone)!
Overall: would I recommend this Remington 7-in-1 Epilator?
Yes. Yes I most definitely would.
It was easy to use, and despite the pain I experience in using it at first (which I'm sure I'll get used to, just like I did with the waxing), I am really, really, REALLY happy with this product.
The epilator has 2 speeds and it's easy to change attachments - simply push up the button on back of the epilator, the existing attachment will release and you can easily fit an alternative attachment which just easily clips in. The epilator also has a built-in light.
Love the pedicure head attachment, very gentle but effective at removing hard skin from your feet.
Can highly recommend this Remington epilator, it really is very good and the best epilator I've tried for actually working to remove all hair whilst still being gentle.
Comes with a 2 year guarantee plus 1 extra year when you register online within 28 days.
The epilator itself feels very much like the others I have used and I dodnt feel the massage head makes things any less painful but can limit the closeness of the finish. The shaver however is so much worse than others I have used. YOu arre supposed to hold it at 90 degrees to shave but doing this left me with a very poor result- I moved to 45 degrees but although this gave a closer shave it was uncomfortable on my legs and resulted in lots of tiny painful cuts in my groin. Using the bikini head for trimming was also disappointing- I struggled to get it to trim short enough and will have to go back and use a different trimmer.
Overall a good epilator but poor shaver, and the exfoliator and pedicure heads were interesting additions but not strong enough to make a big difference to the product overall. If you want a epilator combined with a shaver look elsewhere but if you only want a wet/cordless epilator this will serve you well.
- it does what it says in the box
- long enough cable
- portable
- after multiple use hair doesn't grow back that fast
- no mess
- it has 2 speeds (slow that picks up more hair but in my opinion is more painful & fast that misses hair but seems ro be less painful )
- it has 3 heads ( contour , detail and massage)
The things I didn't like:
- it's rather loud
- misses laying down hair (hence on ocassion you have to go multiple times over one area)
That being said there is a little discomfort after use but it's going away quickly, legs seem smoother and look better.
If going out , I would recommend epilating the day before as sometimes it may leave red dots on your skin. Discomfort goes away with each use, our skin gets used to it I guess.
This arrived in a Remington branded box containing the epilator, ultimate contour cap, detail cap, massage aloe vera cap, cleaning brush, power lead and instruction manual, the manual is basic but has all the information you need along with a detailed numbered diagram to easily identify all the parts and their functions.
This gives great results on legs, under arm and very effective on delicate and smaller areas with the detail cap and with two speed selectable feature it gives better control for different types of hair growth and areas. This is simple to clean after use with the head being washable and the supplied brush cleans out any hair residue.
After my wife using this and raving about how good it was my main question was is it painful and the reply I got was no so to be fair I wanted to test it myself so decided to sacrifice the hairs on my hand. First off it really isn’t painful at all, I would guess that if you pull one hair out with tweezers you have an isolated area pulling up the skin while removing the hair but as this is spread over a larger area and is far quicker it makes it hardly noticeable
It removed all the hairs quickly and easily and really almost painless, it made the skin slightly red which disappeared after about a minute leaving no soreness, the area I did is now totally hair free and smooth.
Overall I can’t knock this at all it does exactly what it claims quickly and efficiently leaving the area hair free, my wife loves it and for these reasons I have given it full marks.
The 7 heads you get are: Contour Cap, Detail Cap, Massage Cap (Aloe Vera one), Bikini Comb, Shaver Head, Pedicure Head (Foot File One) and an Exfoliating Brush Head. Something for everyone!
The epilator has around 40 internal tweezers so you get really smooth results with this especially if you moisturise after. It works by ripping the hairs out rather than just cutting them so the results do last longer. This is suitable for under arms too. If like me you've never used an epilator like this before, the first few times can hurt a little (its really is just a little just thought I'd mention it) . Over time you do get used to it, it's like using tweezers on your eyebrow for the first time, eventually your used to it and it no longer hurts. A full charge will last around 40 mins which is plenty. The epilator has a light so you can see if you've missed any hairs. It has 2 speeds which is great.
The epilator comes with a standard 3 pin plug so no adapters necessary. It also comes with a handy pouch that easily fits everything in, so no risk of losing any attachments. You also get a little cleaning brush so you can clean the tweezer section of any hairs accumulated in there. Overall I'm pleased with this and prefer to manual shaving now. Will definitely stick to the epilator. It is a bit pricey (£119.99 at time) but if you think of everything it does its not too bad. 👍 From me!
The unit is much louder than I had anticipated, so everyone in the house know's you are de-fuzzing. For me that would only be a problem if I wanted to watch the TV while using it. Being a wet and dry epilator it is cordless so you are not tied to the wall with an electric cord so could happily use this in any room including the bathroom.
Having seen a rather alarming review for this product I was careful to be gentle when using the epilator. I certainly didn't have any problems with the epilator damaging my skin. I don't consider myself to be a particularly hairy person, but I did find that it took quite a long time to remove all of the hairs from my legs. In fact, to get a good hair removal I had to use the unit for the full charge (about 40 mins) on each leg which was really tedious. Having the unit on for a full 40min meant it did get quite hot. I know this is supposed to be painless, but ouch, ouch, ouch. Having used it on my legs, my skin somewhat resembled a strawberry with all the hair follicles red and a bit sore. However, I believe this is normal and like plucking your eyebrows it is painful for the first time but gets less and less painful with repeated use.
I certainly think it will be quicker, more effective and less painful in the future as touching up the new hair growth should be better than starting from scratch. The hair regrowth also feels softer than regrowth following shaving as it has been plucked rather than having a sharp cut off. It will be nice to have up to 4 weeks without needing to use the unit again, much better than constantly shaving.
I tried the epilator on my underarms and other sensitive areas and for me that's a definite NO. Too sensitive no matter how 'comfortable' the 40 tweezers are. Even using it after the bath when my skin was warm and still damp it was too uncomfortable for me. I'm not too disappointed because I expected this to be the case - if you've ever pulled out these hairs you'll know what I mean. My legs were the intended target and I'll persevere with it.
The pedicure/pumice head is very effective at removing hard skin. Nice to have this function on the same unit so no need to purchase another tool for the job.
Overall I think this is a good product. If you are used to using an epilator you should find this to be a superior product and should not experience much if any discomfort. If you are new to epilators, grin and bear it at first and you should find you quickly become used to it.
I've been searching for a good epilator for a while. Being a bit tech absorbed and a health nut - I have been doing a bit of research on the one that could be crowned the revered Best in Show title.
I confess, I am an epilator virgin - I've always opted for a more delicate regime to skincare and try to avoid any harsh treatments to my skin.
I drink lots of water, which helps keep my skin in good condition, but I do have sensitive skin.
Here's my feedback:
This tool has it all in principle, but is it any good?:
● Ultimate all round large area epilation; with an option for more detailed epilation with the specialist additional tools; it has a pivoting head to work around your natural contours -
**albeit, movement is only to a limited extent.
● A precision light - in my test, the light cast the right amount of illumination on my area of focus so I could see my fine hairs, even in poor natural lighting.
**No issue here in this department.
● Two speeds - When I first turned this on, it sounded lethal! (See vid). It is quite loud.
They recommend the fast speed for coarse hair and the low speed for fine hair.
••The fine hair category is where I would fit in but it performed poorly - i'll explain below.
● I love the thought of a "Massage" cap (as seen in the vid). It would have been a welcome addition that I have seen on other eppilators. It's suppose to help with the redness which indeed I did suffer with my first epilation.
••Though in reality, I noticed no difference with the massage cap on. No chsnge with, and without.
To use: I just slipped the massage cap over the epilation tool, takes less than a second. The added aloe vera had no effect on me.
••It's just a row of little pale green silicon balls (see pic), that gently glide over the part you eppilate. It had no effect.
● A shaver with a detachable bikini comb - which also moonlights as a hair clipper: to shorten any hair that's too long and unruly, prior to eppilating.
● A rather useful post-treatment 'Exfoliation Brush Head' - to alleviate any in-growing hair; to be used at a later date, during new regrowth and whilst the skin is wet which I will no doubt find useful. This is particularly good at it's job.
It seems as though it's thought of everything but is the master of none..
It takes longer, and is more painful and not as effective as sugar waxing - painful not because of the hair removal, but because the rotating barrel catches the skin and pulls it making it raw.
It sporadically decides to buzz loudly and pause when it comes across a "difficult area" - my skin is quite smooth with very little in the way of friction or due cause for it to pause. So I thought this was disappointing.
I do however find it more transportable for holidays, or when working away, and so forth. Plus there's an attachment to tweeze facial areas too - though again, it ticks the box but performs poorly.
All in all, a well thought out all in one tool in principle but sadly nowhere near 'The Best in Show' but a very mediocre contender as it fails to deliver.
It's on the expensive side at £100. If it's any cheaper than £40, i would seriously consider it over more promising brands according to the reviews by consumers of the other brands.
UPDATE:
Having used it the once above, I noticed painful inflamed type reddening for a few days.
Judging by another review, I'm not the only one.
I also experienced a lot more ingrown hair. Having spoken to an expert in this field, I am told this is abnormal.
Needless to say, I haven't used it again.
I will admit that there is a bit of discomfort to start but it does go away after each use. I also found that you should definitely exfoliate before your first use as it'll help clear the path for the hairs.
It was a bit louder than I was expecting and you are limited by a cord as well. But having said that-those are the only negatives I have to put!
This makes hair removal easier and it doesn't take a massive amount of time. To be honest you can do it while watching a movie!! Its easy to use, quick and easy clean up and its not too clunky so storing is simple. I do recommend it; I am still in the process of figuring out how long it lasts but it is a useful product.
These are observations from my wife, who has now used the epilator: The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, which is a pleasant change from many other products.
Ergonomically, it's excellent, very comfortable in use. The controls are well positioned, and do not alter or switch off accidentally whilst in use which is good.
There are 2 x speeds, which is particularly good for maximum comfort, with the exfoliating brush a nice bonus as well.
The epilator does exactly what it says on the tin, and very effectively, with no pain or discomfort whilst in use. The ultimate contour cap is another good feature for easier access to less accessible areas.
The overall epilator is highly flexible, with multiple heads / functions e.g. pedicure, and so forth, and being also wet or dry, so can be used in the bath or shower.
The massage cap with aloe vera provides a calming feel after using the epilating or other functions.
My wife's opinion is worth every penny, and highly recommended (much better than the one she has used before) - for her, a great interim solution between full wax regimes, which are expensive.
This is a well know brand Remington and I have many of there products at home and can’t say I have had any problems with the brand before.
This is a 3 in 1 epilator and it states that it removes 60% more hairs from the root in one go and last longer (approx 4 weeks) then other methods - I have used it a couple of times so far to try and get my head around how it all works.
It comes with 3 attachments (massage cap, contour cap and the detail cap each cap is for different areas on your body.
It is Mains powdered (corded) and has two speed setting and the heads are washable and it comes complete with a cleaning brush.
I would say that it did hurt a bit while using this - someone did say it shouldn’t hurt so maybe I’m using it wrong but I don’t think this is really for me but will give it another go if not I’m going back to the old fashion way of shaving gel and disposal razors.
There are two speeds and to start with I'd recommend the slower but it wouldn't take long to move on to the next level without irritation.
On the back of the epilator is a button; press the button to release the head. You can then add the attachment of your choice which just pushes on with a satisfying click. I love the pedicure attachment which removes hard skin from overworked feet (I walk a lot with my dogs every day).
There is a built-in light, but I prefer to ensure that there is good lighting anyway. The built-in light may help but is not essential.
Register the device to increase the 2-year warranty to 3 years.
The Remington EP7700 comes with 7 attachments which are:
Contour Cap,
Detail Cap,
Massage Cap (with Aloe Vera),
Bikini Comb,
Shaver Head,
Pedicure Head (Foot File One),
Exfoliating Brush Head.
These heads clip on easily and give a great range for this product. I love the Pedicure head attachment which leaves the skin on my feet feeling refreshed and relaxed after a long day on my feet.
The product can be used in wet or dry and can be used for up to 40 minutes on one charge. At first use the epilator is very noisy and seeing the shaving head spinning around at speed made me very scared as I have sensitive skin. However this was unfounded as the shaving experience was easy and pain free.
Buying from the trusted brand Remington you have peace of mind that the product won't let you down. Plus there's a 2 year guarantee included just in case anything goes wrong.
