I've got a pair of these for desktop use. They're either side of a couple of 27" screens so maybe arm widths apart and maybe 40cm in front of me on a fairly sturdy Ikea desk and they sound great. I'm using a Topping VX1 2x25W Hi-Fi Power Stereo Subwoofer Amplifier 24bit/96kHz Digital USB DAC Headphone Amp to drive them and some Amazon basic speaker wire and some 20 year old banana plugs I had lying around so nothing exotic. I predominantly listen to music or podcasts the odd film and they'll easily dominate a small room. The sound is well focussed, there's enough low end for me and vocals are impressively clear considering my not ideal configuration.
I'd say for a home office or bedroom they'd be ideal paired up with a small amp or maybe to breathe life into and older amp. For around £120 the sound is really impressive particularly when I think what that money would have got you 20 years ago when those banana plugs of mine were new. The speakers themselves look great; cabinets are well finished and nicely designed lines.
As the another review pointed out the little feet are an absolute pain to get in!

Great value, fairly compact bookshelf type speaker with excellent sound clarity.
If this is what you're looking for, then I would say look no further than the Q Acoustics 3010 (or 3020 which is a bit bigger).
The speakers are well built and deliver a nicely balanced and detailed sound, with plenty of bass for a small/medium sized room. Importantly for me, they also sound great at fairly low levels for everyday listening, but turn them up for your favourite tracks and you'll be amazed at the brilliant sound quality relative to their compact size and price.
I went for the Matte finish as we didn't want to see finger prints etc.
I cannot recommend these speakers enough, delighted with purchase.
ps re other comments on fitting the rubber feet, they are slightly fiddly, but just need to be screwed in as per the instructions, mine went in without any problems once I got them started. Hope that helps others.

Having had many decent speakers over decades, which my wife hated due to obtrusive size, I finally gave in to some small bookshelf speakers that came with a Marantz hi-fi and have regretted it ever since. Chose these on basis of size and reviews of earlier models. Whilst not the deepest base, overall they are clear and mid-range and treble excellent. I don't see how you could make better speakers any smaller? Only one small grumble, they are provided with 8 little rubber feet which are inserted into the holes provided for the speaker stands in the event you are using them on bookshelves. I found it almost impossible to push these in the holes.I managed to get a couple half-in but mainly they just fall out. I even put them in the fridge for a day to make them harder rather than just bend - didn't work - still too bendy! In the end I got a Stanley knife with a new blade and shaved the edges off the feet to make them very slightly pointed, they then screwed in fine. Might save you an hour or two of heated frustration? System now sounds like it should have from the beginning.

The equipment came in good time undamaged and in full, the stereo system is as described and for the money a cracking piece of kit. Although supplied with speaker cable as part of the deal, there was insufficient for my room so I up graded to thicker. At the tiime I was also looking at the Marantz melody. I will not now know if I made the correct choice!

I bought these to go with a Denon stereo unit and have been very impressed with the sound quality. I sometime find myself saying 'what was that?' when I hear sound on a track that I've played for years but never had the equipment to enjoy the full effect.
Worth every penny and will definitely used this brand for any future speaker needs.

I did my research and read the reviews before purchasing these speakers. Wow! I was not disappointed. Superb clear powerful sound as good as (if not better than) larger, more expensive speakers I have previously owned.

A solid pair of speakers which fit well in a small space.Well defined bass with a sprightly treble which should appeal to many.I consider them good value-I use them with an onkyo amp and Cambridge cd.

Excellent small speakers with superb clarity, openness, detail and rhythm. As these speakers are only just launched and no professional reviews available, I took somewhat of a gamble and I am so pleased I did. This was based on Q Acoustics were saying they were better sounding than the very highly acclaimed award winning 2010 model. Beautifully finished and a great speaker at the price. Very highly recommended.
