This printer does have a learning curve. I just got it today and it took me a bit of time to figure out how to work it.Printing directly from the camera is simple if your camera supports pictbridge. I have a Canon 7D and it does. It was just matter of hooking it up, pressing the print button and waiting. The photos from the camera printed pretty quickly (faster than an old Polaroid print took to turn colors). The photo quality is pretty retro (think Instagram or old Polaroid film) and you can add a Polaroid border if you like. They are pretty good quality, all things considered.Printing via Bluetooth is a bit more complicated. First of all, iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touch) are not supported, which I didn't realize when I bought it. My iPad is jailbroken so I found a solution for that (you can print with jailbroken devices). Android devices have an app for printing. Secondly, transferring photo files via Bluetooth is slow. Pay attention to the green light. If it's flashing, something is being transferred. It took about 10 minutes to start printing with a file from my 7D. Before noticing the button, I had sent and resent the file multiple times thinking it wasn't working. It took two weeks to find the mythical software on the Polaroid site that allows you to print from your computer. You have to go to polaroid dot com /en/greylabel That's where you find the software for your PC and android smartphones. If you don't have a cable to print from the computer, one is not supplied. It's a standard cable so I probably have one somewhere. I would have better luck finding that cable than the software on the Polaroid site.I bought this mostly to bring on trips so I can do trip journals with photos. I didn't realize it had a rechargeable battery, which is pretty awesome. It doesn't last very long if you're printing, but it will print a few photos (the battery life depends on if you're using Bluetooth or not). The printer is also pretty small and will fit easily in a camera bag. I think once you get over the learning curve and get your devices set up to print to the printer, it's a neat little device. The photo quality isn't professional, but it's a Polaroid. It's for fun. You can have your professional printed at a lab, and use these for the road.-----After having it for a few weeks I wanted to update my review. The really frustrating thing about this product is apparently Polaroid has forgotten they make it (despite still selling it). You can't find the software on their website (it's hidden in a separate website, see above) and you can't find any support materials on the site either. I was away on a trip and it started flashing red. Of course, I had left my manual at home so I didn't know what the big deal was (turns out it was out of paper). For any other product, a quick scan of their website would have given me a copy of the manual. The manual is nowhere to be found on the Polaroid website or any website that I could easily find. I had to guess the solution to my relatively easy problem. Other than that, I still like it, but I wish Polaroid would actually support their products. These new cameras and printers are cool, but won't go anywhere if people are too frustrated to use them. I am afraid this product will become obsolete because of the user frustration and lack of support. The product depends on the paper, and the paper manufacturer won't make paper if there is no audience for the product.

I really wanted to give this mobile printer a 4.5 instead of the 5 I gave it due to issues with the print quality, but I went ahead and gave it a 5 due to other qualities which I find important. With that said, I would have to say that so far most(99%) of the the prints from my point-and-shoot camera(with 10 megapixels) came out surprisingly sharp and well saturated with this little printer. These prints look way better than the original polaroid prints. The only problem I found, is with a slight mangenta cast, however this can be overlooked given the purpose of this printer. I purchased the GL10 so that I could hand out prints to my subjects when I'm traveling especially kids. Also at certain social functions such as parties and weddings. I was not looking for exceptional print quality. I already have 2 professional Epson printers at home plus a Hi-ti dye-sub. I just wanted an instant printer without all the hassles of weight, ink, power-source and size. This little printer fits the bill and then some ! It is light, stylish and well built(should I say rugged?) and is battery operated. Another great thing is that it is "church/funeral" QUIET ! I had no problem setting it up, because unlike other posters, I don't plan to use it with an iPhone, or with a computer just with my point and shoot camera. One thing, the manual was extremely hard to read due to it's small size and faded print. I had to use a lighted magnifying glass to read it due to my old eyes. In any case, I am trully amazed by how sharp the pictures come out. Blows my old polaroid camera right out of the water ! Again, the pictures do come with a slight Mangenta/purple tint so beware. I have not tested it fully yet, but so far I'm very happy with the results.

I was really torn between giving this 4 or 5 stars. While there are no real problems with the little printer, it's not "perfect", so I'm going to try to justify my 4 star rating. It works great. Install the battery and film pack, charge it up, and go. I've tested it via the GL10 application on my Mac, and by transferring a file over BlueTooth. They both work exactly as they should.Picture quality - now here's the issue I have. Since you're printing pictures, should the quality be the number 1 issue? Obviously you can't expect the world from a $100 pocket printer, so from my first couple of tests, I would say the quality is "good enough". Of course, I haven't tested different file sizes, and the issue I had with the first 2 prints may be that they are scaled down too much, and that is hurting the quality. The pics look great, till you get in close, and then you can see they're obviously digital prints. I still need to play with the input file sizes to see if I just need to pick an "optimum" size. So I'm going to rate this as really good for a $100 pocket printer. Much better than I had hoped, actually. But it may require specific size input files to get the best printouts. The "film" is kind of pricey. Of course, you can get it on-line for less than list price, but $20 for 30 prints seems a bit high??? Of course, these don't require any ink, so again, that's debatable. The one complaint I do have is support. The first printer I got was DOA. Would not power up or connect no matter what I did. No help files, FAQ, drivers, anything really on Polaroid's page. So, I used Amazon's great return policy and just ordered a new one. 2nd one worked fine. But the instructions say "get the GL10 application". OK, where? I had to do some searching to find how to get to the link. Just bad support/design, in my opinion. Their web page just has some very simple info on the products and a big "Buy Now" button. Where's the user manuals, etc? Polaroid, fix this, please.Bottom line, this thing is awesome. I can carry it with my camera/cell phone, and as long as I have film and a charged battery, I can print directly from either my pocket camera, my SLR or my phone easily. Still need more experimentation with file sizes, I have a feeling that 13mega-pixel prints on the 4x3 film is pushing the limits a bit much, but that really is to be expected. Would be nice if they provided a recommended pic size, though. The manual isn't good for much more than how to read the status of the lights, and what the BlueTooth code is.

I used the GL10 with direct connection to my DSLR and print quality is good. Not the photo prints you'd get from professional outputting devices but good enough for its price and mobility. Plus, you don't buy this expecting it to print perfect pictures, right? Sometimes the color tone isn't quite right, but there you get some special effects (positively or not). For me the whole point is to be able to give snapshot prints to friends and family before the gathering ends, and I am satisfied. Honestly, the picture quality is at best a four star. But for its designated purposes (or the way I intended to use it), this GL10 got a five star.I noticed that there are several one-star reviews recently, clearly because the machine does not work with iphones. I guess it's not really a fair judgement. I am a owner of several apple devices and I bought this knowing clearly that it won't work with my treasured apple gadgets. This doesn't prevent me from having fun with the GL10. For people pissed off for this very reason, I'd say please please do your homework before shopping for electronic devices next time. I remember the Polaroid official site clearly stated that it doesn't work with iOS devices. If not, this piece of major info isn't really hard to find...

I had considerable difficulty finding the PC software for this device. It is located on the Polaroid website, but it is not easy to find. (Incidentally, it is located here: [...] ).The PC software has a poor user interface. When finding photos, the program's interface does not follow the Windows Explorer framework. It provides a built-in file tree limiting access to files located in "lettered drives" (example: "C:", "D:", or "E:"). I was not able to print photos located: on my desktop, in shared files, or on a server. You need to move your photos into a file located on a "lettered drive" before you are able to print. The PC software provides a number of photo border choices. I liked the idea of printing a border that makes the print look like a traditional Polaroid instant photo. However, the borders are a detriment to the printing process because they cover the picture. I was not able to satisfactorily resize or crop the photo to fit within the space allotted in the borders.I easily found the Android application. It is difficult to use. Admittedly, my frustration in navigating the app limited my use.Printer setup, including installing the battery, loading the photo paper, and installing the PC driver, was easy. The physical printing process is poor. The printer jammed 80% of the time (it jammed 4 times out of the 5 times I tried to print). The one photo I printed is best described as "Polaroid instant film quality." It was not a high-quality print, but I believe that is because the printer is attempting to recreate the instant film of the past using modern technology. My expectations were met regarding the picture quality considering the price I paid and the product description. I understood this product was trying to recreate original Polaroid instant photos when I bought it.Ultimately, I returned the GL10. I like Polaroid's concept regarding this printer. However, the printing jams and the poor user interface in both the PC and Android applications make this product unsatisfactory.

there is huge room for disappointment; the printer does an OK job for average people, if you are a photography enthusiast, then you will be disappointed. Some prints turn out at what i would say "a very decent quality" and some others look really poor (even though the photo has the same resolution). The Good: extreme portability, fun gadget, EXCELLENT for kids, great for printing photos just to clip in your office board, fridge, etc.The Bad: some prints come out in very bad quality, the android app is terrible (tested on a galaxy note 2), printing with instant camera borders looks terrible.

I was hesitant at purchasing the GL10 because I feared the same lack of quality print.I shouldn't have worried!Keeping in mind that this isn't an Epson or Canon dedicated photo printer, this little guy still produces great prints. The film is a little on the expensive side, I can only just keep in mind that I don't need to buy ink for it.As for it not working with the iPhone - if you know how to jailbreak your phone, you'll know how to get it working with the GL10.

Because it is Christmas, the packaging is missing after opening and so we CANNOT return it.So -- we have a printer we can't use, no way to return it, and we are out $129. Shame on Amazon and the seller as well -- THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE CLEAR FROM THE START. The number one selling smartphone in the world, the largest market share of any individual smartphone (not OS) and its incompatibility is conveniently left out of the product description. The problem is that Polaroid are using an open bluetooth protocol which Apple 'claim' inherently makes it less secure. It may hurt sales but just say it doesn't work with it, at least then you don't burn a bridge with a customer forever. At least I got my money back I guess... (it surely made for one disappointing christmas gift though)

The GL-10 is what I've been waiting for all these years. After searching for an instant photo solution, and no matter what I tried, I was never quite happy. I own 5 working polaroid cameras (3 land cameras, an SLR-5 Macro onestep and a Graflex XL RF with a packfilm back), 2 pogo printers with the 1st gen ZINK system, and an HP A640 instant printer. None of them make me remotely as happy as this printer does. The packfilm cameras? Great film, giant cameras, spotty usage success with semi-automatic annoyances, lots of waste and the prints need to dry. Forget about ambient nightlight and expect to lose a couple shots per pack with loading issues. Pogo? Gah....party favor stickers were nice, but crap for battery life and Colors McRudderson was the result on your best day. The HP instant printer was HUGE, ink was a drag, and the quality is so-so after all that work anyway. The GL-10 is what I've been waiting for all these years.Leaps and bounds improvement in quality over the pogo. Still talking mid-range quality, but it's way better than the film the impossible project is putting out for it's one step cameras (or the unusable expired original film...."soft tone" my taint!) and considering the tradeoff size/toner/paper for any of the other battery powered options (HP, epson, canon selphy, etc), the pixels/per/hassles ratio is way better than anything else out there. The best business card you could ask for is this in the back pocket of your jeans with a felt tip pen and a USB cable. The only thing I could compare it to from a "WOW HOW DID YOU DO THAT----THAT'S AWESOME" factor is the land cameras, but considering their use record, I'll take a 70-75% quality 100% of the time compared to 100% quality 40% of the time any day of the week. As I said,The GL-10 is what I've been waiting for all these years.I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually considering buying the camera that's coming out soon just because I use the printer so much (40 pictures in one weekend of travel meeting new friends) that I'd just as soon not have the hassle of hooking the cord up to my pocket SD-1400. Anyway, I think you get my drift.Note to Zink: make 3x4" paper that has a sticky back! That would be great. That is all.Matthew - Photographyontheroad

This thing is a lot of fun. It works reliably. The Android app is garbage, but you don't need to use it at all. Simply share a photo via bluetooth to the printer and it will pop out a few minutes later. Since this printer prints at full bleed, be aware that your images will be cropped down quite a bit, so be sure to leave plenty of border around your images.I use IFTTT combined with dropbox and an OS X folder action to automatically print all images takes on instagram on my iPad. That way I have a photo booth for me and my friends that works totally automatically. My only complaint is the cost of paper - I'd like to see it closer to $25 a print, but whatever.

This little battery operated printer is fantastic for the price and utility. The print quality is fine enough - though certainly not print shop quality but remember, this is a mobile, battery operated printer!. Easily fits in a small backpack or purse for printing on the move.Seems to print well via bluetooth from my laptop and via a cable from my pictbridge enabled Canon DSLR. Contrary to some reviews and the instructions, you don't *need* to print via the (less than stellar) polaroid software, you can just send the pic to the printer directly. I would have liked to have it print from my Iphone but you can't fault polaroid for Apple not enabling bluetooth printing from thier device (c'mon apple - get it together). You have to get your picture to your laptop then print.I use this printer to print out pictures of scenes in remote villages I visit during my travels. The kids LOVE having their picture taken and seeing the results pop out. No way an plug-in printer could possibly fill this use.

I bought this printer yesterday. I gotta say it's actually quite good... for what it is. Definitely it's superior to the Pogo printer in terms of quality... though it would be nice if the the 3x4 prints were also sticky backs. The color accuracy is actually quite reasonable. Unless you use very strong contrasting hues, then they tend to vibrate next to eachother. The images do not have a perfect polaroid feel... more it's like a dye sub system from 10 years ago. That said, as a pinter to roll in my camera bag with me, it's perfect.A couple of notes, the black and white images have a cyan cast natively. If you use the polaroid app, downloaded directly from polaroid you will have the option of color adjusting to sorta help subdue the cast, but it didn't seem to really fix the issue. You will want to download the app... it will pair over bluetooth like the pogo and print in the same fashion as the pogo... with decent results, but the transfer is slow. From the app on my macbookpro the prints have a little bit (not a whole lot, but there is a difference) better color management. Plus it allows you to use a USB cable to transfer images and that dramatically speeds up the process per print. All in all, if you were a pogo fan, you'll really like the prints from the GL10.The GL10 is better than the pogo. It's not as good as the Epson pictuemate, but it's far more portable.

The PoGo prints roughly business card sized pictures but it's price was only $50 and really would (just) fit in a shirt pocket. Now Polaroid has upped the print size (a very welcome change), more than tripled the cost, is not as portable and quality of print is not improved. That's sad. I made 2 prints and concluded the quality sucked. prints came out under saturated and very unsharp. There is not support for iPhone or no mac printer drivers. You have to use polaroid's software that only accepts jpegs. You can not print directly from Photoshop or Lightroom.
