A Good Steam Iron with Plenty Of Power.
The Philips Azur Steam Iron with 250g Steam Boost is an excellent steam iron with plenty of power.
The 2600W packs a powerful action and that steam really does make your ironing faster and easier.
Let me explain.
Many people, especially on a budget, tend to go for cheaper irons. That is understandable BUT you are far better off spending a little more and getting firstly a steam iron and one with some power,
Why it simply means you don't have to constantly iron and re-iron the same spot twice or sometimes three times to get the same effect that iron delivers first time.
Talking of spots where this iron really gets top marks is it's anti-calc properties.
We, like half the country live in a hard water area.
Hard water means limescale. Lots of irons I have used in the past have deposit spots of limescale on my fresh ironing.
This device has a simple mechanism that takes just 15 seconds to operate to dispose of the collected limescale.
(In saying that a tip is to use the water recovered from a dehumidifier if you have one- the water is free from limescale or even use the ice from your fridge or freezer the later is a faff I admit)
The plate is one of those really smooth actions that allows you to sail through your ironing in a third of the time.
Now I noticed that my fellow reviewers were so impressed that they bought an identical model BUT only paid £56 and not the current £73 at the time of writing.
Why the massive price Hike? I have no idea. £56 would be a fairer price to my mind.
Why should you get this more expensive iron?
If you do quite a bit of ironing it will lesson the time and make it easier.
The steam action allows you to smooth harder to iron clothes easier and with less effort.
The iron has a lot of power.
I hope this helps you make a decision on which iron to buy.

Great iron but massive letdown on limescale removal
I have had this iron for 16 months and I have been generally very happy with its performance except for limescale removal. I have been following all the maintenance instructions on a regular basis. Nevertheless, the procedure and system installed to remove the limescale are not good enough for London’s hard water. Philips customer service mentioned that I should have used distilled water instead from the beginning of usage. Why would one buy an iron with the ability to remove limescale and then use distilled water (that doesn’t contain limescale) at an operating cost of £130 per year (a 5l distilled water contained costs about £5 and we would need to use one every two weeks for a family of 5)? It is cheaper to buy a new iron every year than use distilled water!

Faulty/dangerous iron
The handle of this iron heated to the point it could not be lifted / picked up. Also steam/water coming from area where power cable entering iron body which didn't seem safe. Returned for a refund and another model chosen

Mine was faulty.
I chose this based on the reviews. It has a light feel to it but works well. Good grip. However, mine started gurgling and dripping from the soleplate from the first use. And when I pressed the steam boost button it spitted water over my clothes. Returned.

Disappointing stopped working as soon as I plugged it in
It arrived in very a very flimsy open box it had obviously been shaken about. The instructions are really hard to understand when I first plugged it in loads of smoke came from it. It did say this would happen but it seemed a lot to me. It did warm up and steam a bit then the auto shut off kicked in and I moved it as suggested to ‘wake it up’ but it it wouldn’t come back on again. I unplugged it and waited emptied it and started again but it still wouldn’t work. So I packed it up again and sent it back for a refund. When I dropped it off at the Post Office I popped into a local shop and bought a Russell Hobbs iron for third of the price with plain English instructions! I found it to be a really great iron loads of steam!!

Disappointing quality and a disappearance of accessories.
This iron did not 'wow' me like a £70 2600w appliance should. There are some cost cutting measures clear to me that may be overlooked by some people. For example, the last time we got a new iron, a Philips Azure 3 series, 9 years ago, the iron had a, relatively simple, yet effective cable stow aid. This was a simple velcro tie attached to the cord. I noticed my mother in laws more recent Azure had an even more effective addition, a clip that could attach to the board to keep the cable running and free whilst ironing, and this too, served when wrapping the cord away. Neither of these feature with this iron. Furthermore, I distinctly recall my last Azure coming packed with a handy refill water bottle, now long since melted.
It poured well and again, is an addition that is now sadly missing.
The iron serves much the same as the old azure, yes, more steam, more stylish, but a similar or perhaps lesser build quality. My eye is drawn to a couple of points. The water refill lid is more flimsy than last, and given that I will be swinging my iron toward an unforgiving tap as opposed to my neat refill jug, it may not stand a knock. Further, the rubberised temp dial looks good now, but I know in 9 years, it will be a flakey ruined and dirty looking mess that cannot be wiped clean..

Broken after just 6m-c ....
Broken after just 6m-c, using ones every second weekend at home back of the iron broke under temp and water is leaking . Can't used any more !

Working well
I’ve had this now a few months and it does well. It heats up quickly and gives plenty of steam. I keep a hug of water available to top up as its water chamber is pretty standard for this type of iron and I’ve been used to the bigger steamers. Does what it says on the tin.
