The phone is great, easy to use the only problem I had was to set the MMS and internet configuration setting for AT&T. I got that finally fixed and here is how I did it. I bought this product under New Products, and it died within two months of using it. It worked perfectly the first month, and in the middle of the second month, I tried to switch it on one morning and it just could not go on again, completely couldn't.I bought this product so I can use it to keep my number and phone contract from my home country active, and it worked for as long as the phone lasted.... A little bit over one and half month. It is still new, with all its accessories, but not working anymore.I have bought a product like this before in Africa and it worked well for two years. This one did not last even a complete two months. It never met my expectations.

I had two phones on a trip to Oman, this and a Samsung. The other phone's battery lasted a lot longer (5+ days instead of 3+ days), but this phone always worked. It never dropped a call, unlike the Samsung that was dropping calls left and right, even from the very same location. Don't expect it to be very smart, it is a very basic phone.The instructions specifically state not to use the full size SIMs with the cut out to make them a micro, but I did anyway because there was no other option and it worked fine.

I've had this c2-01.5 for a year. Slipped in a SIM card from an old TMobile flip phone that broke, and I was in business. I only use it for voice and text though it supposedly does email. The camera is better than I thought - when I finally hooked up the USB cable and uploaded the pictures to my PC I was quite surprised at how much better the pix are than on the phone's tiny screen. I have a smartphone too, and an iPad, but THIS is the phone I still carry everywhere, even after a year of use and buying a nifty smartphone. It's Nokia tough and the battery lasts forever and I can dial the keypad by feel without seeing it if I ever had to. Trusty reliable and classic, and the Nokia 4 frequency GSM combo works worldwide in my experience, I've just pulled it out and dialed home in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (watch the roaming costs or else put in a local SIM card of course.) I just can't give it up. So my smart phone sits at home, or I take it along also, for it's classy camera, but the c2-01 will be the one I always have on my person and will till it falls apart. Actually I bought a spare, so I'm good till they quit making SIM cards.

I bought this for my mom because she wanted a simple phone that can make simple things like calling and texting and Nokia.This one has it and some other cool features that she loves like the camera, which is OK btw, radio and e-mail service.Best thing in the phone is battery life.

This phone was just what I was looking for. A basic phone that could also play music. The screen was smallish but clear and bright. The phone had a good solid feel and sharp looks in spite of some plastic parts. It was easy to navigate through the functions. I got this in the US and then took it with me in Sri Lanka where I now live. I dropped in a local sim card and was making calls within a minute. No adjustments needed. I did turn off 3G mode as I do not have a data plan in SL and I think 2g mode uses less juice. Data plans are offered and I presume this phone would work with them, as it has 3G. I just don't need that nowWhat was great was when I connected it to my computer to install music into the 16gb microSD card that I also purchased, windows media player quickly recognized it and allowed me to drag and drop music files within windows media player. It synced quickly and I was out the door with a full set of music. Best of all, I did not have to use iTunes, which is so cumbersome by comparison.So...great simple candybar phone that sounds clear and has extra functions if you need them. In 2g mode battery lasts for days. Sadly someone recently stole it from me in Delhi so now I'm back to my 5 year old Motorola, which still works like new.

I was looking for a phone (i.e., a device basically for phone calls, as opposed to a hand-held computer). I was pleasantly surprised by the Nokia C2-01, because the SIM from my old Motorola [originally a Cingular(!), then AT&T, and finally a converted prepaid T-Mobile, after unlocking it] - anyway, taking the SIM out and placing it into the C2-01 was seamless/easy.Because my old phone was useless and the phonebook could not be retrieved, using the Nokia Ovi software (downloaded from their web site) made the process a little less painful - inputting the contacts from a keyboard is easier than doing so directly into the phone. The Bluetooth wireless was then used to transfer the information from a laptop to the C2-01; I did not have a micro-USB interface cord, which would have been faster. Also, I used Bluetooth to transfer about 1,000 songs from the same laptop via PC-based iTunes (downloaded from Apple) - for the money, its music function is great, as is the quality of calls.The Nokia C2-01 is more than adequate for anyone wanting a pre-paid phone that can be used in the USA or Europe. Otherwise, if one wants additonal services from either AT&T or T-Mobile - that will run more $'s, of course. I only wanted a conversation phone, but the additional functions of the C2-01 are welcome, although I am not making full use of them.The display is very readable; the menu system is just fine for a better-than-basic phone; calls are clear. The buttons are easy to use and accurate. I chose the "warm silver" color - it seemed like a "brighter" choice to me than black.From Amazon, I also ordered a side pouch belt case by BestCellBuy [Amazon had this on sale for $0.99(!)]; and a protective gel skin by iTALKonline - fits perfectly with little additional girth.I am quite satisfied with the Nokia C2-01; and with Amazon's product selection and shipping/handling service - free shipping and no sales tax (Woohoo!).See this link: Nokia C2-01 Unlocked GSM Phone with 3.2 MP Camera and Music and Video Player--U.S. Version with Warranty (Warm Silver)

Update: March 2013, since I first reviewed it this phone is awesome still works and now I have given it an additional star, please read more to know why I gave it 4 stars the first time.Original Review:This is a replacement from previous phone that had screen cracked since i could not find a phone that was to MY LIKING in my local area I came to amazon.----------SHORT Review: Purchased June 2011, a great phone for a good price, use it as a phone not an mini computer. Great memory expansion and it does work with AT&T and T-mobile.----------LONG review: I found this one, order it and arrived sooner than expected, charged the battery and inserted SIM and made some calls and texts to try out, it works super no problems UNTIL I got to play and explore it more some days later; the settings are not hard to get but just takes times to figure out. It has some apps (facebook, email, nokia store etc...) that you can use but I don't need them so I'll skip that. Thou you can find the same items in the Gallery and Media menus it gets annoying because you don't need to have different locations for the same things could same the space and relocated into one.The MINUS ONE STAR, I am disappointed in three things that I found messed up after I got to explore this phone more; 1.) the alarm clock is only for one time and can't set it for different wake-ups all other tools I found were OK. 2.) can't get media message (pictures) on this phone so far I can browse the net but can't receive/send pics like my previous phone 3.) my carrier charged me for the data that was used for the free game i downloaded from the nokia store since I was not aware the phone would be using data while playing the game, that was my fault so I just set that to DO NOT ALLOW anymore and now I can play without having the phone use up data. I don't have a data plan to begin with.It is plastic and you DO NEED to protect it, I got a protective case and so far I have drop it more than once till this day it works nice, NO DROP CALLS so far. Battery life is average, screen is clear the buttons easy to use, I was scare that they would get damaged but so far THIS LITTLE GUY HAS DONE ITS JOB RIGHT.

I bought this phone for my dad; he just came here from Europe and wanted a Nokia because Europeans are big on these phones. The wanted this phone because the battery lasts you for a very long time, like a week if you do not talk on it. This is a great phone. I bought it unlooked and am using it with a T Mobile sim card (regular not micro) and it works great.

It is a very nice basic phone. I use it for phone calls mostly, alarm clock and few text messages. It has been a good experience so far as always with Nokia. Messaging is a little confusing or not as user friendly as on iPhone or HTC. But I don't use it that often so no problem

I purchased this phone because my Android phone was accidentally run through the washing machine, ruining the touchscreen display. Until my contract comes up for renewal, I needed a basic low-cost phone to get me through the next few months. I also wanted an unlocked phone, because I do occasionally travel overseas, and like the ability to use a pay-as-you-go SIM for cheap local calls.As a long-time (pre-Android) Nokia candy bar phone user (my 8890 still works!), I was instantly up and running with basic phone calls and SMS texting on this phone. The decade-old navigation habits work just like they always have, while new features are intuitive and simple use. The Opera Mini browser is too small to be useful, but it works in an absolute pinch.For GPRS/Internet connectivity, I followed the simple AT&T instructions for Nokia S40 located here:att.com/learningcenter/tutorials.do?tutorialId=763520&_requestid=620564#fbid=hbp8i4LW5ByThese instructions were much simpler than those posted in the top-rated review.For contacts, I got all my Google contacts to automatically sync following the simple instructions located here:support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=15015&answer=98265The one feature this phone is missing is a GPS and the ability to run Google Maps.

Purchased this phone for work. I only get calls to this phone, so I don't need a lot of features, bells, or whistles. I walk around an old, brick building most of the day, and I get darn good reception most of the time. Most other phone fail in the darkest corners of my office building, but not this little guy. Plus, it is unlocked and has multiple antennas inside, so it works with most GSM frequencies. Would highly recommend, as long as you only need it for the occasional phone call!On a plus side; solid build quality, easy to use and navigate, very reliable device

Lack of the on-screen-display date. To find what is today, one would have to search through several steps, the old man who received my gift has returned it to me due to that simple reason.It was just too complicated for him to look for today's date.

I was looking for a cheap phone with bluetooth and which works in the US and in Europe. This was the cheapest I could find (without doing a proper research, I admit). The 3G feature makes only sense in countries where you get cheap (email-only/slow) data plans. If you spent 50 bucks a month for a data plan, obviously buy a proper smartphone. The phone has a classic, nice look, but feels a little bit cheap-it's all plastic. You probably can't expect more for 80$. Good thing is, this makes it a very lightweight phone.The software is the result of a weird and long evolution. For example, you have at least 5 different places for shortcuts and menus (the normal menu, a short-cut bar, the home screen, the go-to menu, and you can put functions on the left- and right-button). All of these can be reconfigured, which means once you get used to it, you can access every commonly used feature with at most 2 clicks. The standard NOKIA theme is ugly, but the phone ships with an elegant dark theme. So far, it sometimes crashed while gaming, but otherwise it seems to be quite stable. The games (Sudoku, a brain training thing, something like Tetris and a neat game of skill where you build skyscrapers) are not too exciting, so not really an issue. The phone is much faster than I was used to (had a 5+ year old NOKIA) and things happen almost instantly, except starting apps.Someone complained that synchronizing does not work with Mac OS, but just google it, you can create an iSync plugin very easily (address book and calendar work nicely). So overall, solid phone for everybody with a prepaid SIM card and without a data plan. If I could, I would trade the 3G and the camera for a better and thinner case. That phone would have gotten 5 stars easily.

My I-phone finally bit the dust (3G) when I dropped it one time too many, so I wanted an inexpensive, functional phone until I decide whether to buy another Smart Phone. This phone works very well and fills all my requirements with one exception which falls into the "what were they thinking" category. There is no way to reduce the volume of the ring externally. One has to go into the menu and then settings to change the volume. Call volume can be changed in the midst of a call, but changing the ring volume is not exactly easy to use if I want to silence my phone before entering a meeting or a movie.I would probably return the phone, but all other features, including the sound quality are so good that I will put up with this design glitch.

I'm on page 51 of the manual trying to look for a shortcut for a silent setting, and one to set it back to normal. An intuitive interface would have put these basic functions in an obvious place, but I had to flip through 51 pages to find out that if I want that functionality, I have to set up my own shortcuts. Other things, like locking the keypad - which is essential on this phone - are also arcane: push the menu button, then star. If you're not familiar with Nokia devices, it's a combination you'd take a long time figuring out on your own.What these indicate is that interface design is typically an afterthought instead of a prime consideration. This is why the iPhone is so popular - they started with the interface and designed the device around that. At Nokia, they do that in reverse order.So, in spite of the nice range of functions in such an inexpensive phone, I give it minus points for that. Camera, facebook, IM and internet all have icons on the home screen, but completing tasks with them can also get confusing.The other disappointment with this device is its lack of compatibility - not only with Macs, but even with Windows XP Pro if it's 64 bit. So it doesn't work with the two OS's I happen to use.As another reviewer pointed out, it would be great if Nokia would just focus on a handful of devices and made those really good, instead of the hundred or so models they produce. For the inexpensive price, this is certainly good as a phone, but not much else if you don't have compatible devices or don't want to read the 84-page manual.

I bought mine at a Nokia store overseas. After a couple of months it would not ring when a call came in. AT&T said, "Sorry, but you didn't buy it from us so we can't help you." Nokia's U.S.A. unit told me the same thing. When I took it back overseas, the Nokia repair place wanted to keep it for two days.Here is how I fixed it myself:1. Save all phone numbers to the SIM card, because this procedure will wipe out the phone memory!2. Select "Settings," scroll all the way to the bottom, and select "Rest. factory sett." to restore factory settings.3. Select "restore all," press "continue" and enter code: 123454. Let it do its thing for a minute or two.Then it was like new again with all its original ring tones! :^) If you do this procedure in the U.S.A., it offers the opportunity to receive messages from Nokia that I'm hoping will allow me to take advantage of additional features of this phone. You can always opt out of those later.

I purchased this phone for my mother because of its simple design, US waranty and 3G compatibility with AT&T, but above of all, my faith in the brand. The left side soft key always stays in after being pressed, and the only way to pop it back up is by pressing the right side soft key, like playing a see-saw. I wanted to say it's just my bad luck, but I feel the problem is more likely caused by a poor design and cheap parts.Being a Nokia phone user for 16 years and counting, with good memory of my 6188, 6230, 8800, E65, 5530, C6-01, I can't express how sad I was when holding this piece of thing in my hand.I had to return the phone. Amazon processed the return smoothly, as expected.

This Nokia cellphone does what it was advertised for...I just need a phone with no frills just something to use in calling. Works well with T-mobile pay-as-U-go. Got it at a good price too (under $85).Simple features with practical use. FM radio is a big help when you need to hear about traffic or weather when you are riding a public transportation.

I needed an unlocked 'phone to contact friends and family abroad and this worked superbly. It was very easy to set up and I can report that it fulfilled its promise. My usual Nokia phone (with Vodafone as the provider) had a back that was impossible to remove to change the SIM card, so the ease with which you can remove the back on this model to insert a different SIM card was excellent. It keeps the costs to a minimum, instead of being charged under contract prices when 'phoning/texting abroad.Altogether an excellent buy.

Was looking to replace a 7 year old Nokia that finally gave up. I was surprised to find out that Nokia still made the candybar style non-touch screen phones. I don't have a data plan with my ATT service, so I can't comment on the internet features. Added a 16GB microSD card and loaded it up with music. The overall interface is simple and intuitive. The built in media player recognized a direct copy/paste of my iTunes library without issue. No issues syncing up with Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit. The Nokia Ovi PC software worked fine and allowed me to finally back up my extensive collection of contacts. For a basic little phone it is feature loaded without compromising the primary function of being a phone. If you want a good PHONE, this is the ticket. I do recommend the purchase of the plastic skin that covers the back of the phone. Link: iTALKonline ProGel BLACK Super Hydro Gel Protective Armour/Case/Skin/Cover/Shell for Nokia C2-01 It will offer some protection from accidental drops or scrapes. To the people complaining about the picture quality, it is only a 3.2MP camera. It's not going to be great.
