I removed all of the stock fans and have installed 2 140mm and 1 120mm Noctua fans in my CoolerMaster 690 II. What a world of difference it has made. I have the 2 140mm running @ 900rpm and they are basically inaudible from a few feet away. I have left the 120mm running at full speed because it is cooling the radiator for the liquid cpu cooler, that one is making an audible noise but even so it makes the stock CoolerMaster fans sound like vacuum cleaners - and CoolerMaster makes good fans!Not only that they are quiet but they look and feel solid. Most case fans are flimsy and cheap feeling. They are worth the money if you are into this sort of thing.

First, the bad: At least with my particular Noctua, the 140mm fan does not like to run vertically. Even at full speed it struggles to start. I have adapted to this and just use it for horizontal applications, but the option to mount it vertical would be nice. Hence the one star removed.Where Noctua's really shine is not just the low noise, but the amount of pressure they emit. Hold your hand an inch away from the noctua vs another fan running at similar speed/noise, and you can feel the "thickness" of the air coming from the Noctua. Yes there are other fans out there that advertise better air pressure and similar sound levels, but they are often even more expensive than the Noc.Another place this product shines is the included voltage resistors for customizing the fan's speed. FYI, because mine did not say it anywhere on the box: BLUE= U.L.N, BLACK=L.N. In other words, blue is the quietest/slowest. I find that the Black regulator is the best compromise of speed and noise, being not much louder than the ULN, but much quieter than full speed. My guess is the BLUE is 5v, the BLACK is 7V and it runs at 12V without either.But here's the real benefit: you can use the spare regulator on one of your other non-noctua fans. I used the spare BLUE regulator on a rather loud 140mm fan I had in my case.The Noctua 140mm's normal holes actually line up with a 120mm fan spot. It comes with adaptors to mount it to a 140mm. Not many cases have 120mm spots that double as 140mm, but some do, in which case the Noctua works out well. Check your case (especially the rear vent) to see if it has an extra set of holes in a slightly larger pattern than the regular ones. I've always felt that 120mm for a rear fan is just a bit too small, since often it is a case's primary exaust.

I purchased this fan to provide supplementary airflow through the case of my overclocked computer. Noctua is a bit more expensive than competing fans but, in my view, is well worth the additional few dollars.The materials and build quality of the fan and mounting are excellent. This review refers to the 140mm diameter fan. Noctura also sells a 120mm fan that is virtually identical except for size.There is nothing shabby about this product. It ships with both screws and soft rubber suspension mounts. I was a bit dubious about the rubber mounts, wondered if they would remain securely in place or pop loose from the fan case. I can report that once attached, they are not going to come loose accidentally yet can be removed and reused if desired.The fan is extremely quiet, even at full speed. Noctua attributes this to the notches molded into the trailing edges of the blades. Whatever the reason, it doesn't make much noise at all. Speed control is not accomplished on this fan through pulse width modulation, even though most current motherboards provide PWM-controlled fan connectors. Instead, Noctua provides three short connector cables, two of which have in-line resistors to reduce the speed, giving the user a choice of low, medium, or high. At the low speed, the fan is utterly noiseless. At medium, you can hear it if you listen for it. Even on high, it is almost whisper quiet.This fan is an example of why it pays to spend a little more for quality. Highly recommended.

I replaced a 200mm Cooler Master fan with 2 of these bad boys and have seen the airflow through my case increase drastically with very little incremental noise. Noctua makes fantastic fans (I have 2 NF-F12s on my Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo) that really move some air with very little noise. These fans also have connections that allow you to lower the RPMs to reduce noise if desired.

Ok, this fan is quiet at low RPM's but it doesn't move that much air. At higher speeds this fan is loud. It's a very high pitched noise too. I don't know if this is just my fan or others but it is really annoying.

The fan supplies enough air and it is very quiet. I bought this item based on its previous reviews and it did not disappoint me. I wish manufacturers would give you an option when you buy computer cases to replace the stock with Noctua fans so that we do not have to end up with a bunch of stock fans later when we replace them ourselves. Great product and I would buy them again.

Very nice. Brought about a 10 Centigrade difference in temperature in my Define Mini. Will definitely be getting more for my Hyper 212+ (if they can even be mounted on it).What I was surprised to find out was that the fan can actually mount in a 120mm fashion due to its rounded shape. Which is fantastic.Only problem I have is with the low noise adapters. Even though I did not use them, there is no indication which one is for 600rpm or 900rpm as far as I can tell which means if you want to use either one you're going to need to find out which one is which.

The fan noise is noticeable when my computer room is quiet. No music or radio. I tried the speed adjuster resister that came with the fan and it did become quieter. However the temp on the CPU rose to 32-34 degrees and the motherboard when up to 35-36. The fan speed dropped to about 650 rpm from about 750.The fan is being used in a new build so if anything comes up I'll update the review.

I needed a fan to cool my receiver due to the small cabinet that I needed to put it in. I bought this fan based on the positive reviews that it received. I had it running at full speed but I could just barely hear it if I was laying on the floor by the cabinet. I set it to the medium speed and I cannot hear it at all now and it keeps may receiver and other electronics very cool. I was going to buy a fan kit online to cool my electronics but I found that most of the fans were more than I wanted to pay or really cheap with a noisy fan. I bought a 12v power supply from my local second hand store, I had to dig through the bin of "cell phone chargers", but it was only $3. I cut the cord and spliced into the fans wiring harness, there are only two wires, and then I plugged it into the switched outlet on the back of my receiver. When I turn on the receiver the fan comes on. I cut a hole in the back of my cabinet right behind the receiver. I used the supplied screws to secure it in place and, well, it works great. This project took a little skill but not much, after all I did it. An even easier way to go would be to just lay the fan on top of the receiver.

I have two of these running at 100% in my case. They move a monstrous amount of air. They are fairly loud, however, at 100% they are still quieter than my old cooler master fans at 30%. Also, they make a better, less annoying type of noise. It just sounds like wind, much better than the typical whine of computer fans. If the noise is an issue, I know I can throw in the low noise adapters that were included and they will be silent. Finally, the size is perfect and they fit into the space of a 120mm fan if those are the holes that your case has. If not, the 140mm adapters are metal brackets coated in rubber to reduce noise.

I bought the Noctua NH-D14 cooler to cool my new work/gaming rig. Got my i7 2600k running at 5ghz stable and around 70*C at full load, which is fantastic. I was so happy with how quiet this cooler was and how much air these fans moved for the minimal amount of noise they produced. I ended up replacing all my case fans with Noctua fans, and my case temps went down, all of my temps in general went down.I know many people have said these fans are expensive compared to other options (like the Gentle Typhoon) and to be honest I have nothing to compare them to... However, I can tell you these fans are quiet and they do their job extremely well. I mapped out my case air flow to get a very even pressure and amount of in-flow and out-flow and I don't think any other fan options could bring my temps down much lower. I sit at about 2-3*C above ambient, and maybe hit 4* when running 100% load and testing.Also, I like the look of these fans. I don't have any fancy LED's or bright colors in my case... I took them all out, and I feel like these fans really show the quality of components I have chosen for my case and I think their distinct colors let people know that (not that anyone really sees my case, but thats how I feel about it). Excellent job by Noctua on all their fans and coolers.

Why do people complain about the color of these fans? It's a company signature thing and from the way these products perform, I consider the color to be a sure sign of a builder who knows what he's doing. All of Noctua's products are absolutely superior. This fan, like all other Noctua fans, is extremely silent and moves big air. The cool thing about this big daddy is that it is a 140mm fan that mounts in a 120mm place. Big air, no noise. I have no doubt that this fan will outlast the case it's installed in.If you don't care about the stupid color of a computer case fan and don't need a cooling product that doubles as a LASER light show, this equipment is the obvious pro move.

I have 3 of these 140mm fans and 1 120mm in my current case, along w/their CPU cooler.Very quiet, moves a ton of air. I have mine on a fan controller, and have no problems.I am a big fan of the Noctura product line.My only 2 squawks would be the price, and I don't like brown. Oh well.

The silent whisping air of the Noctua Ultra Silent 140mm is enough to soothe a foul beast and whisk a baby away into dream land. it's arctic breath blows softly from my computer case as the dreaded heat is quietly extracted from my tower of gaming glory. Oh Noctua, without you my life would be filled with much swelter and bedlam but with you it is fulfilled by a cool breeze and quiet pleasantries.

What can I say? It moves a ton of air and stays quiet. It does what Noctua says it does. It integrates perfectly with the ASUS Striker II Extreme Q-Fan mode.Though I do appreciate the exotic mounting options, I was not particularly impressed with the solution for wide (140mm) mounting. The mouting feels rather insecure despite the satisfying ruggedness of the fan itself. The documentation was rather lacking as well.On the other hand, consider that most desktops stay put; hence the mounting solutions are secure enough. Also, you should be able to figure out how to work with the thing given a few extra minutes despite the barely-there documentation.

It's nice to have the extra airflow on top of my M59 case to vent the ch-50 cooler, but the grill holes add to the turbulance of the air moving to provide some added noise. Circular holes seem to make more noise than honeycomb shaped ones do, in my tests, so I'll remove the offending sheet metal, and afix a better vent grid. Six year warranty, by then they will be using transparent aluminum or some such.

VERY Low-Noise and a lot of wind - it's more $$ but if you're tried of the noise of your case fans this will go a long ways to make it more ear friendly - it does do what they say - it works great - it may 2 x as much $ but is worth it for the ears - you may want to be sure you get the adjustable speed unit

At full speed this fan is definitely not noiseless but moves quite a bit of air. I have had to lower it to about to 600 RPM for it to be completely quiet. However at such low speed the airflow is too little.Still, the airflow/noise combination is pretty good, you just have to control the fan efficiently and adapt it to your needs.

This fan is mediocre - it is not particularly quiet and doesn't push much air. It also won't start at very low voltages. The Scythe Kazemaru 2 140mm x 25mm Case Fan- 1200RPM Medium Speed(SM1425SL12M) is half the price and performs much better.
