I don't have to constantly adjust the pitch slider, but it is always adjusted up a noticeable amount.
This turntable doesn't automatically stop when the center of the record is reached which is sometimes terrifying if the needle doesn't sit in the final groove, but not the end of the world.
I wish I would have spent the same amount on a vintage player from the local record store or shelled out a little more for the Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB

Update: Before sending back, thought I would try hooking it up to the cd input and using the inboard amp. No luck same problem hum, unhook the usb hum gone. So it's one or the other still. To bad cause I hate sending things back. Hey Amazon I Tried.
Next: Ordered the TEAC TN-300. Was going to get the Pro-Ject - Essential USB II But I guess it was buzz worthy too. By the way I have a Denon AVR-991 Receiver with the phono input. May have to go back and hook up the old Technics to the input on the comp.. Hope not, would be so much easier if the Teac works. With USB hook-up the sound levels are much more consistent. Actually never have to adjust them in Audacity. Now it's just wait and hope. Hi-Fi Heaven if your thinking of one.

I did want to mention that I recommend that you do not run this through a phono preamp...even if you disable the internal preamp in this unit. This turntable sounds better when you engage the unit's internal preamp and just plug it into an aux or cd input on your receiver. It actually makes sense when you think about it logically; the "line" option (or when the internal preamp is engaged) directs higher frequencies in order to record digital files.

Aside from taking a few minutes to figure out the counter balance, easy set up. After setting the switch at the back to line input, all systems were go. Test drove seven records, some 180 gram vinyl and some standard. Some brand new, some old. All played well, all sounded great. As would be expected I needed to adjust the speed for each record, but no big deal there, I used to have to do that with my childhood player, a technics ... for the audiophile's, I have no idea what model.
I considered several players and due to big budget restrictions selected this unit. One unit i was considering had a lot of reviews saying that the turntables were often warped. Another had many reviews stating that the player had a hum problem. I am not sure if they were issues with those players, but i didn't want to get caught up in a return seven players to get a good one routine.
Unless something happens to go wrong with this unit, it will not be going back and I am very happy with it. Affordable, functional, very good sound and upgradable. Highly recommended
