Only complaint is that these like a bit of juice. Strongly recommend using an interface or a small DAC as these will sound a little anemic without something to push them.

I was looking for a pair of earphones that would let me listen to my DAP or my Walkman that didn't cost too much and sounded vaguely accurate. So I was pleasantly surprised once I plugged them in and hit play. They sound brilliant. The highs are very clear, all the frequencies sound like they should. They're slightly lacking in bass, but the fact they're so clear really makes up for the fact. You also get a carrying case and the presentation of the box was nice, so that's a huge plus

I bought these to replace my old earphones which died. They were Massdrop Plus Universals, cost about £200 and sounded superb. The reason for switching from expensive to cheap is that almost every expensive earphone I've ever bought has died on me and I am heartily sick of spending the money. Premature Deaths: Massdrop Plus, VSonic GR07 BE ( x 2!), Pinnacle P1, Flare Audio R2, Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi, RHA MA150, Shure SE425. The Shure's demise was my fault as I dropped and then trod on them. The rest failed all by themselves due to poor build and/or poor choice of materials and/or poor design. The above adds up to over £1000 over the last decade. For comparison I have a set of Shure SE215 which has lasted a lot of years and some old Sennheiser CX90 still working after 13 years.

I tried a pair of magic noise cancelling wireless buds and hated the bulk and the sound and the hassle of yet another device that won't work without being charged up. Returned.

So I chose the Moondrop Quarks as I know they measure OK, and this style of earphone can provide a lot of isolation with foam tips. I'm really pleased with them. I've used the equalization settings from AutoEQ and fitted them with foam tips and all is well. They are supremely comfortable, block out more noise than supposed noise cancelling earphones and sound tolerable out of the box and really excellent with eq. I'd prefer if my old VSonic and Massdrop earphones hadn't quit on me but these Quarks with EQ are good enough, and if they break I'll be twelve quid down, not £100 or £200 or £300.

I bought the version with no mic and I have another pair of Quarks with mic and it doesn't work well with my Sony Xperia 10 II Android phone. These ones work very nicely on my phone, and on a Fiio M3K audio player, and attached to JDS Labs headphone amp. Definitely a good earphone and a great bargain.

Edit. December 2022 (after 6 months of ownership):
I'm still delighted with the sound (when equalized) and the isolation possible with foam tips. Also the comfort. This tells more over time. I'd rather be using these than any of my other earphones, including some which cost twenty times the price. Yes, really. With great isolation you get to enjoy every last detail of music , but the number of earphones which let you do this with any degree of comfort is truly tiny. The Quarks with foam tips are supremely comfortable; if there's no music playing you might not even remember they are in your ears. And they are comfortable over many hours, under a hat/helmet, while you fall asleep and so on.

But long term use has identified two deficiencies:

The main part of the cable i.e. the thicker bit below the split, gets very stiff over time. The plastic outer gets hard and the cable loses all flexibility. It doesn't seem to be the actual metal wire becoming oxidised and stiff as gently using a heat gun on the plastic restores flexibility (just briefly unfortunately) and I've not noticed any change in sound quality.

The metal grilles and foam filters in the earpieces are not really fixed in there, just stuffed in. They move and sooner or later they fall out and need replacing. The manufacturer will sell you more but the cost with shipping is going to be the same as or more than the original item. This is really poor manufacturing. On a £200 earphone it's OK to occasionally spend £10 to replace the filter and grille but on a £12 earphone? Very annoying. I already had a few very expensive items which use similar designs so I have spares but I this is a real defect on a low cost item.

Anyway, I'd still recommend them for the extraordinary comfort and isolation and excellent sound (when equalised) but also suggest buying a spares kit or else being prepared to replace these once or twice a year. They are cheap enough and good enough that this is not such a dumb idea as it first seems.

Premesso che per 15€ sono letteralmente ottime, ho trovato qualche piccolo neo (forse legato al mio esemplare) che tuttavia non inficia sulla qualità generale del prodotto.
Parlando della resa sonora, sono sicuramente fra le migliori provate in questa fascia ultra-cheap, con forse l'unico difetto di avere i medi leggermente arretrati (ma nulla che non si possa risolvere con un leggero EQ). Il suono è generalmente piuttosto dettagliato e avvolgente ma anche abbastanza preciso e controllato, non ci sono grossi squilibri fra le varie frequenze (eccetto per i medi, che rendolo leggermente deboli le vocals ecc., ma che come dicevo sopra è un problema facilmente risolvibile) e il timbro è ben misurato e sufficientemente neutro da poter apprezzare la maggior parte dei generi musicali; in assoluto, l'ho trovata un'esperienza molto gradevole, anche per sessioni di ascolto medio-lunghe.

- L'unica pecca è che nel mio caso in particolare riesco a percepire un leggerissimo rumore di fondo, a malapena udibile e solo in situazioni di totale silenzio, ma comunque presente a qualunque volume. Non so se sia un caso particolare del mio paio, o se magari affligge proprio la versione con microfono, ma nel caso potete valutare di prendere quella sprovvista... Fatto sta che nonostante tutto non pregiudica l'ascolto o la godibilità, quindi per quanto lo trovi giusto da menzionare (anche se rimango dell'idea che sia il mio caso isolato, dato che non ne avevo sentito parlare prima d'ora), non lo riterrei un difetto macroscopico pure se fosse, vista la fascia di prezzo di cui si sta parlando.

Tornando ai pregi, l'ergonomia è a dir poco ottima: sono auricolari minuscoli e leggerissimi, ci si scorda letteralmente di averli addosso. Sono confortevoli anche da indossare mentre si poggia la testa su un cuscino o superfici morbide, dato che per le loro dimensioni non sporgono dal padiglione auricolare, perciò sono approvati anche per chi volesse sfruttarli per ascoltare musica da letto alla sera o in scenari simili.
I gommini forniti in dotazione sono più che discreti, al contrario di altri auricolari non ho sentito la necessità di sostituirli per avere maggiore isolamento o una migliore calzabilità.
Con il cavo e lo splitter, che a detta di molti su internet sono fra le principali note dolenti, mi ci sto trovando tutto sommato bene: esteticamente il cavo grigio può piacere o meno, ma dal vivo posso dire che è molto meno appariscente di quanto non appaia nei render; lo splitter, seppur effettivamente piuttosto ingombrante, non mi ha mai infastidito nell'indossare le cuffie né mi si è mai impigliato o causato problemi di scomodità. Anzi, a dire il vero l'estetica generale per quanto sia un po' "particolare" la ritengo davvero molto apprezzabile e curata (e poi, i driver a vista grazie alla plastica trasparente sono davvero simpatici).
In definitiva, sono delle cuffie che consiglierei sostanzialmente a chiunque: a chi vuole iniziare ad avvicinarsi al mondo delle IEM, ma anche a chi cerca un paio di cuffiette da battaglia per quando non vuole scomodare le proprie daily. Per il costo che hanno, non c'è neanche da ragionarci su, sono semplicemente da avere.

AGGIORNAMENTO A CIRCA 9 MESI DI UTILIZZO: il cavo ha iniziato ad indurirsi in prossimità dei due auricolari, probabilmente a causa del prolungato sfregamento con la pelle o l'esposizione alla luce (gli uv o gli olii corporei possono provocare queste reazioni a certe sostanze plastiche), rendendo quindi abbastanza scomodo indossarli soprattutto se in posizione inclinata o da sdraiati, in quanto sfregano e creano rumori fastidiosi ed essendo meno flessibili portano anche a farli sfilare dalle orecchie se non ben inseriti o in caso di uso in movimento. Difetto dovuto probabilmente alla qualità economica del rivestimento del cavo, cosa che tuttavia non mi sento di criticare per le qualità che il prodotto esprime negli altri comparti. E' uno di quei casi in cui si è quasi sollevati nello scoprire "dove stava il trucco" per aver fatto delle cuffiette così buone a così poco. Resta il fatto che il problema pare irreversibile (ho provato a riscaldare il cavo con un phon per tentare di ripristinarne la morbidezza, ma si ottengono solo effetti temporanei) e pertanto vorrei avvisare che in caso di utilizzo medio (quasi giornaliero) come il mio, trovo difficile che la vita utile degli auricolari riesca a raggiungere diversi anni...
Detto questo, per quello che costano, uno può benissimo accettare il fatto di doverli sostituire saltuariamente. Oppure, e forse è questa la principale "problematica" che si è venuta a creare ultimamente per le Quarks, ci si può orientare verso qualcosa di leggermente più costoso ma a sua volta estremamente valido, come ad esempio le Moondrop Chu o le Salnotes Zero... Che al momento pare rasentino lo stato dell'arte nella fascia ultra-budget e offrano diversi plus rispetto a questo specifico modello, senza però avere certe debolezze in fatto di qualità costruttiva.

Propose un son très pur , très neutre , manque de basse mais le reste du spectre est très bien retranscrit surtout en considérant le prix , c'est simple , ces écouteurs en terme de qualité mettent a genoux n'importe quels écouteurs de grande marque a 50€ ou moins et rivalise avec des concurrents de marques spécialisé a 2-3x le prix .

si vous avez l'habitude d'acheter les écouteurs "pas cher"( entre 10 et 30€) en magasins généraliste/grande surface , au basses surboosté et au son dénaturé , offrez vous ces écouteurs et vous entendrez des détails et instruments que vous n'entendiez pas auparavant en écoutant vos musiques

seul bémols, câble fragile et les tips ne sont pas terribles , mais pour le prix ça reste plus qu'acceptable

Ne vous attendez pas à d'excellents écouteurs, que ce soit la construction, le son ou même le confort (ils ne se ressentent absolument pas, on ne sent que l'embout de l'écouteur). En revanche le son même si les aigus sont étouffés et plus que suffisant lorsque mes écouteurs sans fil lâchent, ou qu'il faut que je prête des écouteurs à des amis pour écouter quelque chose à deux, et s'avèrent très léger ce qui les fait s'oublier très rapidement ! Je garde toujours la paire dans mon sac à dos si besoin vu le peux de place qu'ils prennent, ils viennent aussi avec une petite pochette style pochette de bijoux avec, suffisant pour éviter de les abîmer.

I’m mad that I just got them. I have a whole collection of IEM’s and I’m blown away about how great they sound? Not enough bass? I don’t know. They sound great. Not enough this or not enough that? I couldn’t say. They sound great. Too much money for what you get? Nope, they are $12 lol. Amazing. I bought these because I read they are the best to fall asleep with them. Quite frankly, they are great. The best? I don’t know. They seem to have a different timbre than I’m used to hearing. No ear piercing treble. Buy them, give them as gifts they are excellent IEM’s. It’s going to take a lot of convincing for me to buy another pair from another manufacturer. Truly amazing.

These sound genuinely amazing. I was trying not to get my hopes up just because it's made by moondrop but the sound signature is perfect for what it is. Noticable distortion in vocal range at higher volume, but because of the tuning these sound so clear at *any* volume. Imaging is speaker-like, very wide but a little floaty/unspecific. No detachable cable. If the micless version was $15 with an etymotic-style angled detachable cable... These would be basically ideal IEMs. Almost guarantee they'd make a bigger margin too, pretty sure they already produce their own cables and mmcx connectors cannot be that expensive. Rant over. Review over.

Okay, I am going to try my best not to overhype these like I see a lot of people do with any IEM that they like, but these are really good. Let's start with my IEM journey so far.

Besides for a couple tws pairs, these are my first IEM. The main reason I bought them: low price and I figured it would be a good enough way to see if I could stand IEMs for daily use over headphones. When I first got these, I of course started to compare them with my main headphones at the time, the Yamaha HPH MT5 with brainwavz angled pads. The first thing I noticed coming from those headphones is that the quarks obviously are lacking in sheer resolution. But again, that is obvious. These are $13. MT5s are $100. Trying to ignore that, I started listening to some music. Initially, the quarks lacked any kind of bass for me simply because the bass is boosted on the MT5. But what I remember most from that initial day of testing is being mind blown that the tuning on the quarks overall sounded more "correct" to me than on my headphones. I didn't really know why at the time, but the tonality of the MT5 was just off. And I preferred the tuning on something that is $13. That alone was worth it.

So with that, I researched other IEMs. Long story short, I landed on the Tripowin x HBB Mele and Moondrop Aria. Mele filters caused channel imbalance after 2 weeks, and the Arias broke in a day.

I also got the TRN MT1 for a great price, so I tried them and they are okay for what they are. V shaped tuning, nothing special but I was surprised that I can even enjoy music on them for how cheap they are.

So... after that bad luck with qc on the 2 most expensive pairs I tried... I went back to the quarks. I had used them for about a month or 2 as a daily driver before chirstmas because I wanted to get used to them. I don't believe in driver burn-in, but I believe in mental burn-in. Man, are these things great now that my brain has fully gotten used to the tuning.

The sub bass is still pretty much non-existent to my ears, but I think that is because the driver is just too small to reproduce those frequencies. Something that did change since using them more is now I feel that there is an acceptable amount of mid bass/warmth in that area. Not a ton of punch, but enough to where I don't feel like there is absolutely nothing.

The mids sound... fine? I don't really have a ton to say because I am not super experienced with audio stuff yet. I will say that obviously these are lacking in a bit of detail and separation, but it's still surprising what detail and separation exists. I still find myself getting surprised at picking up some smaller details in tracks that I listen to. I just never thought I would be able to hear what I can with these. They are certainly not the best, just shocking at the price. I will say that vocals can generally get a bit shouty to my ears though sometimes. Just something to keep in mind.

The treble on these seems adequate enough. I sometimes notice things getting a tad harsh to my ears but I haven't noticed distortion or anything with cymbals. I think this kind of blends in with the “shout” I was talking about. Again, surprising for how dirt cheap they are.

TL;DR - Better longevity than more expensive stuff I have tried, but I have had terrible luck. The bottom line is that these are very enjoyable to listen to, and in my opinion, a no brainer for how cheap they are. Just try them, give them a REAL chance, and if you don't like them you aren't out much money. Build quality, though not great, doesn't feel like they will fall apart. I still feel like I have understated how much I like the quarks, but I am trying to be as realistic as possible here.

I use these for sleeping and for general use with a tablet PC. The sound quality is good and they are comfortable. The sound quality is very acceptable but of course not as good as music studio recording quality. The cord is long and is made of a soft feeling material that hardly makes any noise when it rubs against clothing and etc.

In diesem Preissegment trifft man überwiegend nur auf sog. "V-shaped Headphones". Hierunter versteht man eine Abmischung bei der die Höhen und die Bässe besonders hervorgehoben werden. Diese Ausrichtung soll besonders Spaß beim Hören machen. Naja, ich denke kurzfristig schon, aber langfristig fliegen einem die Ohren weg. Es dröhnt nur noch und man fühlt sich angeschrien.
Nun zu den Quarks. Hier ist das genaue Gegenteil der Fall. Die Quarks betonen besonders die Mitten. Dies führt zu einem sehr entspannten Hören über mehrere Stunden. Insbesondere Vocals kommen natürlich beim Hörer an. Einige bezeichnen den Sound als "neutral". Ich finde, dass dieser Ausdruck unpassend ist. "Natürlich" beschreibt es besser.
Wer hier die große Soundstage und Details in den Höhen und einen trockenen klaren Bass für ca. 12 € erwartet, den muss ich enttäuschen. Trotzdem solltet ihr den Quarks eine Chance geben und sie ca. 3-7 Tage täglich verwenden. Wer dann bspw. die Chu von Moondrop zum Vergleich einsetzt (auch ein richtig guter In-Ear btw) wird die Vocals als zu aufdringlich klar empfinden. Was die Quarks richtig machen, fehlt den Chu's, nämlich die sauberen Mitten. Und eins kann ich Euch versprechen: Auch euch werden sie fehlen. Also schnell wieder auf- bzw.einsetzen, durchatmen und weiterhören.
Ganz kurz zum Design und zum Komfort. Mit ihrem transparenten Plastikgehäuse und ihrer geringen Größe erscheinen die Quarks dezent zurückhaltend mit einem metropolen industriellen Touch. Dies wirkt sich positiv auf das Gewicht und den Sitz im Ohr aus. Ich behaupte einmal frech, dass man mit den Teilen sogar schlafen kann. Man sollte allerdings aufpassen, dass man sich mit dem Kabel im Schlaf nicht erdrosselt. Ich habe bislang viele InEars probiert und alle haben in meinen Ohren folgendes Problem: Sie fallen schlicht alle nach einer gewissen Zeit heraus oder müssen nachpositioniert werden. Wer Gleiches erlebt hat und aus diesem Grund keine InEars mehr ausprobieren möchte und dies hier vielleicht zufällig liest, dem sei geraten, den Quarks eine Chance zu geben. Bei mir sitzen Sie selbst nach 4 Stunden arbeiten so bombenfest und unauffällig im Ohr, dass mir beim Aufstehen das MacBook unbeabsichtigt gefolgt ist.
Damit bin ich auch schon am Ende meiner Rezension angelangt. Die Quarks sind einzigartig. Einzigartig aufgrund ihrer Bauweise in Verbindung mit dem Gewicht und einzigartig aufgrund ihrer Mittenbetonung. Vielleicht fehlen solche Produkte. Produkte, die einen anderen Weg gehen. Entscheidet selbst.

Extremely surprised by the soundstage. Was not expecting that on such tiny earphones.

Voices and instruments are extremely clear and accurate. Incredible how they managed that feat, even matches my pricier headphones.

The only downside is the weak bass unfortunately. It's not non-existent, it's there but you wish it could be better. I'm guessing the newer and more expensive models like the Chus and premium Arias solved the bass issue. ("Diaphragm" tech in those larger IEMs)

I'm also guessing that a good EQ can make up for the lack of bass.

Wish the cord was a little a bit longer IMO.

But these are probably my go-to IEMs for EDC and travel now because they're so cheap and so I'm not afraid to lose them or damage them.

100% more than good enough for classical music, orchestra, songs that don't have a lot of bass. I mean even bassy songs are fine if you tune your expectations for a $12~ headphone or use a good EQ....

Maybe next I'll buy a Chu or aria...

I'm pretty dang impressed with the quality of these earbuds given their price. However, the volume controls don't seem be working on my laptop or Nintendo Switch, but they do on my iPhone (through an adapter, of course). I don't have any additional devices to test them on at the moment, but I am in contact with support.

I found these while browsing through other moondrop products looking for some small traditional earbuds I can wear to bed they’re tiny enough for me to sleep on my side without the pain and discomfort my AirPod pros had and they sound amazing especially considering the price they’re well worth it

These sound amazing. For $13 I can't really think of anything else that compares. I think they have better sound and more detail than the apple earpods, and I think those are pretty good for the price too. My only complaint is that I had the metal protective grill pop out on me while changing out the ear tips. It's still in place, but I guess that's the type of QA you'd expect from $13 earbud. Might try to see if I can set it back in place with a little glue eventually.

I am not an audio expert or connoisseur but found these to be very comfortable for the price. Ive had them for a month now.

I usually have them in everyday for hours at a time since I use them for work instead of listening pleasure. These are very comfortable and come with 3 pairs of tips with varying sizes.
