Weary of home routers and switches burning out every two years, Netgear's lifetime warranty really appealed to me. Over a year and a half after purchase, my ProSafe router stopped working. After providing the required documentation, support issued me an RMA and shipped me a replacement. Why so many stars for a router that broke? In my experience, competing products from other manufacturers are just as unreliable. At this price point, Netgear's warranty makes the GS116E best-in-class. If you need a switch that will last, expect to drop a few thousand dollars on Juniper or HP hardware, then take a course to learn how to configure it.The product is quiet (it is fanless) and has a very small footprint. The AC adapter is of questionable quality, but mine has not failed. I would have been happy with a larger unit with an onboard power supply. The metal case makes the unit feel solid. This is an unmanaged switch; all ports share a single VLAN.

Very fast, quite, good price and small.I installed this switch on my older 14 lines Cat5e system and all jacks outputs are exactly what comes out of the modem at 50 mbps with no loss at all.

Needed a new switch for my home office. Had a 10/100 switch and needed to upgrade to a Gigabit unassisted switch and this was my choice because of its fanless low power operation.

Ordered this to replace a Linksys switch which is no longer supported. Installation was a snap and it works fine.
