Best bottles I ever used
I have been using Klean Kanteen bottles since 2016 and I am super content with them. I forgot mine on the plane and I got this new one and I am even more happy with this product as it is lighter and easier to carry.

Does a grand job
Wanted to buy another 1180ml Kanteen, but for and extra £1.30, I bought the 1900ml vessel. Below, I've noted the pros and cons.
Cons;
Stainless steel weighs more than polymers!
It's not insulated!
Pros;
Durable stainless steel, less prone to damage
Secure cap with steel hoop
Useful for boiling water in a camp fire (without cap fastened), which you can't do with polymer or alloy (both bad ideas)
All in all, a good, reliable product!

Well made but the lid sucks. Threads are too small so you can put the lid on at a slight angle by accident and it’ll leak

Beautiful and well crafted
First things first: I bought this item, it's not a 'honest review' type review.
General: Wow! This is a wonderful piece of simple but elegant engineering. Entirely stainless (food grade) with that brushed finish which I personally prefer to the shiny. I don't know for sure but I believe brushed is easily to grip (this bottle is pretty big and wide) and I won't be as obsessive with fingermarks as I would be with a mirror finish item. The mouth is very wide so I don't advise drinking while walking. Ice cubes go in super easy if you want to keep your drink colder for longer.
Lid: The lid is (non-BPA) plastic, very strong and rigid, with stainless inside so that when the bottle is closed there is no plastic touching the contents. The lid also houses a silicon seal ring which has a pull-tab to help remove it (nice touch!) for easy cleaning - no more poking a knife point into a gaps to get the seal out for cleaning! Technically because the silicon ring seals the lid tight a tiny bit of it may contact your drink inside - I don't know how to test this but it will be tiny and this is no different to any other leak-proof bottle as far as I know. There are currently 2 other lids that fit this - the cafe lid (may be easier to drink out of on-the-move) and a flat lid with a flip D-cup ring. The website says the bottle is compatible with backcountry water filters.
Safety: Obviously this is not designed for hot drinks/soup as it's not a vacuum flask but you could put cold soup (or whatever) in to heat up at your destination. Klean Kanteen say you can boil water ("at a pinch" AKA survival) in this particular bottle (wide mouth, brushed finish, non-vac) over a camp stove so long as the lid is off but that will effect the finish - that would be a shame, this bottle is sexy! This bottle has no BPA, no aluminium, no liners, no paint. You can use it for acidic fruit juices, milk and alcohol. It is dishwasher safe but not freezer or microwave safe. Check out the FAQ on Klean Kanteen's website.
Notes: I'd prefer chunky ridges on the lid for opening/closing but having said that I have not struggled and you do not need to screw it on super tight. Also the large hoop on the lid could be utilised if you struggled. But that's a really minor point. The Tatonka Stainless Steel mug fits over this very nicely indeed

Great bottle, with easy to clean wide mouth
I've found this bottle perfect for my needs over the last 3 months. I needed a metal bottle that could take a moderate beating, and was easy to clean and inspect inside (since I find smaller necked bottles harder to look into and clean).
Cleaning: The water inside tastes fresh and to my knowledge is only every in contact with the stainless steel of the bottle, with even the cap having a steel top inside of the rubber waterproofing ring so that no plastic touches your water. The bottle is very well designed for cleanliness, with a continuous steel wall all the way around except for a seam at the bottom of the screw on portion, which is very positioned for easy cleaning and away from the water. The rubber sealing ring has a large tab allowing easy pulling out for cleaning.
Hardwearing: The steel bottle, being steel, is also quite hardwearing and I am happy with its structural integrity even after a few knocks, though the bottle is purely one thin layer of steel so your mileage may vary.
Points to consider: while this bottle is perfect for my needs, the following may be concerns for those who are more 50/50:
1. The wide mouth means that there is always room in the mouthpiece for water to slosh out of the bottle when drinking - not great for drinking while running or driving
2. The steel nature of the bottle means it is not insulated - hot drinks will make the bottle very hot and can burn you through the steel, and cold drinks can cause condensation if they are very cold
3. Check the dimensions of the bottle - it is quite big!

This is a review of the 40oz / 1182ml Wide Klean Kanteen
These bottles are great. Lightweight, compact, excellent quality and materials. The interior of the supplied cap is 18/8 steel (meaning the full interior of the bottle is 100% stainless steel). Easy to clean and very very tough. These bottles, in various sizes, accompanied me through Mexico from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic and also while touring round Europe on my bicycle! Lovely piece of kit. When I'm not cycling around like a nutcase, I use them to store used cooking oil in the fridge!!! The standard cap is fully leak-proof, although one of the optional caps is not (the Café Cap).
Incidentally, a couple of other reviews/comments have suggested that using this bottle on a fire or stove may breach the warranty. This is incorrect. This is what Klean Kanteen says:
"...single-walled Kanteen® Classic and Wide bottles with the Brushed Stainless finish can be placed on a fire or a stove as long as you take the cap off. Do not do this with a colored bottle, as it will damage the paint."
Just don't leave the cap on or do this with one of the insulated bottles, as you could create something quite explosive and dangerous due to pressure build-up, as well as voiding your warranty. So, just to reiterate, it is fine to use the single-walled stainless bottle over an open fire as long as you remove the cap first.

Height with cap - 255mm
Diameter - 89mm

Weight of supplied cap (optional caps vary) - 46g

Lovely but not for me -developed allergy to it
This is a lovely quality bottle but I sadly couldn't get on with it. At first I loved it then I started noticing a metally taste and smell. I washed it numerous times and the smell improved but my mouth and throat began tingling each time I drank out of it.
I bought another (glass) bottle and the tingling went away. I tried the stainless bottle again and sure enough the tingling and discomfort in my throat came back. It is with no doubt the bottle.
Now I cannot fault the product for my personal allergies and will therefore rate the product fair. Anyone who has nickel etc allergies should watch themselves with stainless steel.
That said, I used to have a stainless steel bottle back in 2008 and never had these problems. I'm assuming this stainless steel is of a lesser quality and sadly not for me.

Yes at last!
I've been trying to find a decent water bottle around the 2L size and I've not had much joy doing so. Either the cap leaked within minutes or within a few uses the plastic seams leaked instead.
So after a comment by someone else on another review I did for a water bottle I felt going the stainless steel route might be better. The only problem I have found with stainless steel water bottles is getting a hold of them. Finding this one in stock was a surprise and I'm pleased I did because it is brilliant. The lid actually seals and if there was a leak anywhere else I would start getting worried about everything else we make stainless steel out of! The only very small issue I have with it is a lack of handle. I'm not a fan of the looped cap, would have preferred some sort of grip device on the side even if it was soldered on.
But even without a handle I'm incredibly pleased with this water bottle!

Fab product, makes a great fruit infuser!
Love this product as it is large enough to hold a days worth of water. The reason I bought this product was for its size. I like to drink fruit infused water but found that if it hadn't been left for a while in the water the taste was practically none existent so whist the first drink of the day was nice, every refill after was not.
This product has solved that problem. The mouth is wide enough to easily fit chopped up lemons, ginger and cucumber, or anything you want really. It's size means that there is no need for me to fill it up more than once, so now I can just make it up at night, leave it to infuse over night and just have great tasting water all day long! The handle lid makes it easy to carry from one station to another in the gym too and doesn't leak at all.
This product has solved that problem. The mouth is wide enough to easily fit chopped up lemons, ginger and cucumber, or anything you want really. Definitely the Best.
I know people have put reviews on here saying they get an odd taste with this bottle-but I get exactly the opposite!I've started drinking my tap water after putting it in the Klean Kanteen because it makes it taste better,and fresher....it really does.I'm more than happy I opted for this product....of course I thought about the Nalgene,or another brand,but it was the 1.2 litre capacity that caused me to choose this one,initially,over that .I'm glad I did,because not only is the extra capacity great,but so is the lid,as it can be attached with a bit of string or paracord easily to the straps on my backpack,or belt,for wild camping,and the lid is as solid,and leak proof as you can get.The inside of the lid is stainless steel,too.I'll be using it over a fire at some point,but happy to keep it nice and pristine for now!!

Never go hiking without one.
First, thanks to the vendor for the excellent customer service, much appreciated.
I absolutely will NOT go anywhere on an overnight hiking / backpacking trip without this product. Made of food grade stainless steel with a nice, wide mouth and having the ability to boil 1 litre of water in it over an open fire is a godsend for a backpacker. The cap that comes with it does the job well, and no leaks around the cap seal when I filled the bottle and hung it upside down overnight to test out it's seal.
Klean Kanteen make a cap that is flat with a pop up carry handle that I'll be looking at to replace the cap that came with this bottle, but other than that, an excellent product that any serious hiker / backpacker should not be without.
I absolutely will NOT go anywhere on an overnight hiking / backpacking trip without this product. Made of food grade stainless steel with a nice, wide mouth and having the ability to boil 1 litre of water in it over an open fire is a godsend for a backpacker. The cap that comes with it does the job well, and no leaks around the cap seal when I filled the bottle and hung it upside down overnight to test out it's seal.
Klean Kanteen make a cap that is flat with a pop up carry handle that I'll be looking at to replace the cap that came with this bottle, but other than that, an excellent product that any serious hiker / backpacker should not be without.

Big and Beautiful
I bought the 64oz size and I think this is the biggest stainless steel bottle you can buy anywhere! For those confused by the non-metric sizes, it holds close to 2 litres (actually 1900 ml). That's basically all the water you need for a full day, even in a hot climate.
This means it might be too bulky for some uses, but for me it's very handy to be able to carry this much water in a single bottle. I use a carabiner to attach to the side of my day pack.
Some minor negative points. First, it would be nice to have a more convenient cap, such as a flippable spout. Second, non-metric sizing forced me to Google what the hell "64oz" meant. Come on it's 2016!

Love love love this water bottle - we have hill ...
Love love love this water bottle - we have hill walked for a few years now and this has to be one of the best carriers. The volume of liquid it holds is perfect for the two of us - we use isotonic tablets also. Easy to hold, a great easy lid/cap and a large capacity mouth. One down side for us is that is it too large to fit in the standard side pouches on our rucksacks so it has to go in the mesh pouch at the front. This bottle gets used during hill walks, trips to the beach and also car trips - I would highly recommend this product.

Great overall impression
Very nice bottle, good quality, perfect size. I especially love the wide mouth which makes drinking out of it more like drinking out of a cup than out of a bottle - much more comfortable and enjoyable! The taste of the water compared to aluminum bottles which I used before is incomparable and the bottle keeps contents fairly cool for long periods.
In the future I may prefer the wide mouth/slimmer bottle size since this particular one is quite wide and holding it can be tricky especially if full.

Perfect for 4 by 10 inch pouches
My newly purchased tatonka mug WILL allow this "Klean Kanteen Wide Stainless Steel Bottle" to nest nicely inside it.
My first tatonka mug was ever so slightly smaller so the flask would not fit inside it.
Better still, if you then purchase a "Pathfinder Bottle with nesting cup" ("http://www.heinnie.com/pathfinder-bottle-nesting-cup-set"). You will find that the larger 40 fl oz Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Bottle fits the larger pathfinder cup better than the Pathfinder bottle, and that the tatonka mug fits the smaller pathfinder bottle brilliantly.
This "nesting" issue is not so important as when you nest the flask into the cup then the residue from wood fires (in my case) will contaminate your cup. So you could carry the cup over the bottle.

Definitely worth the investment!!!
As to be expected from this company, amazing product, great for bushcraft/survival/hiking/outdoors/prepping/everyday usage. Expensive at first, but DO NOT BUT THE CHEAPER OPTIONS! Age old saying of "buy cheap buy twice" so definitely worth the small investment for a lifetime warranty on a great product like this that will truly last a lifetime!

Good water bottle
Never had a stainless steel bottle before. After researching, I bought the wide mouth as the cap covers the mouthpiece unlike the other classic Klean Kanteens. However, while I love the build and quality of it, I notice that at the tip of the Klean Kanteen where you drink from, there is a metallic taste that irritates the tongue. Might be so for all stainless steel bottle, not sure but otherwise the bottle keeps out smell pretty well.

Good bottle pricy lids.
Great bottle fits into my tatonka 750 mug then goes in a bag the same shape..
Boiling water to purify is the main reason to buy a metal bottle the only issue is its not easy to tie anything around it to suspend it above a fire the neck has no curve & a second lid with a hole drilled in it would work but there silly prices....

On top of that, the lid has a completely steel top, which means plastic never touches your water, avoiding the plastic-tasting water of my old bottles (which can't be good for you).
After using it every day for almost a year, the bottle shows no sign of wear or tear.
Highly recommended.
